    She has my utmost respect. I don't know how difficult her life was and as she says, it was at one point, but she never ever appeared to be bitter, out of control or display bad character. She just maintained her self respect. I can't think of many who have. Carol Burnett I'd put in that category. So much respect for her. Her legacy is that of a decent, honourable human being.

    I am so grateful for her 'tell all' and how she navigated her husbands infidelity and bisexuality. My father was very much like Jack Cassidy...handsome, theatrical, musical...and, evidently had been very much in love with a man at one point, who loved him in return. He also loved my mother and they had 5 children together. But loyalty was not an attribute I could attribute to my mother. She raged and as an older woman now I see why. But as a child, all I saw was her rage. It was pernicious. But to hear Shirley Jones articulate what she endured demonstrated to me how a spouse can take a different approach. Yes pain and tears...but the love remained and appears not to have devolved into a pernicious rage.

    I am a cousin of Shirley and it’s awesome knowing she’s family. Our family is all out of Pittsburgh, as you know. I’ve heard it all my life about being related to her and so many family members say I look like her! She has been there for the Haney family sometimes a long time ago, with family reunions, when my dad was a kid. I’d love to talk to her but most of the family that knew her passed away. Would be great to get in contact! I think she would remember my great aunts Jane and Shirley Haney, who are still alive and around the same age. ❤️

    I met Shirley Jones three times in my life. She is definitely somebody I would want to have a deeper conversation with. There's many ways of finding out about her life and her profession. But people never seem to ask her about the things that she enjoys like cooking or gardening or does she sing in the shower or taking a drive. What did she enjoy the most about raising the children and what she enjoyed the least. I'm just glad that professionally it doesn't seem like she may have been touched by the darkness that sometimes one hears about regarding Hollywood. I really do think she led a charmed professional life. My encounters with her were all professional but she was the most endearing person. I had a crush on Shaun, and of course I remembered her from Partridge family and being a beautiful mother to that television family so much so that I saw a lot of my mother in her but of course a different life. And they were about the same age. I don't even know if Shirley Jones ever was a recording artist other than the musicals she appeared in. She's really an amazing person.

      Thank you for your question sorry I just saw 1027 E. side. I had a family friend that knew Michael Burns, a former actor and she asked him if we could visit the set. He pulled some strings got a pass from Tony Thomas, Danny Thomas’ son and so we went. I believe I already commented that it was a coincidence that Bert Convy was filming that particular episode with them, and my mom had gone to north Hollywood high with him. I never got a real chance to stay in touch with anyone there but I will tell you it was an amazing experience. Very professional people yet it was a very comfortable atmosphere like a family. Even Shaun Cassidy showed up he was very young at the time had a skateboard with them I think? But I can only tell you it was an amazing experience I’ll never forget. Shirley was so kind🌹

    When I was a little kid, I somehow got the contact info to each of the cast members of The Partridge Family (probably through the fan club). Of course, I had a fierce crush on David Cassidy (Keith Partridge... funny that she couldn't recall his character's name), but the only cast member I wanted to send a fan letter to was Shirley Jones! Even though I had my own AWESOME and LOVING mother and father, I just felt like Shirley and I could have become friends or pen pals. I always knew that she had a kind and approachable spirit. Funny thing is, I ended up becoming a professional musician and musical theater composer... working in the performing arts, I'm quite sure that she and I would actually be able to connect in many ways. PS. I never did send Shirley my fan letter, because I wanted it to be perfect, and it was always in a state of being rewritten. I was never happy with it, so I never sent it. LOL Typical for me to let perfectionism prevent me from progress!

      She’s very talented and seems like a
      good person. I always liked her as Shirley Partridge. I’m not sure her relationship patterns with her husbands are something to look up to as a role model. Or at least just with Jack, he was quite abusive, not just to her but also to her stepson and she never really did anything to stop it until she left. He put her in sexual situations she did not want to be in (threesomes with men and women). She dated him while he was still a married man. I’m not bashing her at all, no one is perfect and we all have stories, but she also wasn’t necessarily a good role model in all things.

  • @mariocruz6281
    @mariocruz6281 3 года назад +14

    You can tell Jack is the love of her life. She also loved David as much as her Own Sons. The only reason She would refer to him as her Stepson, was because David's Biological Mother had a hard time accepting that David would be calling Shirley Mom on the Partridge Family. David had said in an interview, it was extremely hard for his Biological Mother to watch the Partridge Family. David had promised his Biological Mother that he would never refer to Shirley as his Mother, any other place except the Partridge Family. David idolized his Mother. And he didn't want to hurt her, the way his Father had hurt both of them. As we can see on the Partridge Family and even years later, you can see the love and respect David had for Shirley and Shirley has for David. I believe part of that is because there are times you can see Jack in David. Actually you can see him in all 4 of his Sons. You can also see the love between David and all three of his Brother's. Him and Shawn seemed closer. They seemed to have more in common. Back when the show "This is Your Life" did a show about David. Both David's Biological Mother was there and Shirley also showed up. And the way She shared how much David accomplished on his Own. You could see how proud She was of him. She had done another interview, and the Woman who did the interview, gave Shirley a lot of credit for the way She raised her 4 Sons. Shirley, politely interrupted and said, well David's my Stepson. The Woman who was interviewing Shirley, replied, yes that's true. But you can see the love, you both have for each other. Shirley replied that's true, but his Biological Mother gets upset when People address me as his Mother. So out of respect for her and David, I correct it, when Someone refers to me as is Biological Mom. I don't want to disrespect her, so I try to make sure, that when it comes to David and I, they refer to me as the Stepmother. In that interview you could tell that Shirley loves David as if he was hers. And you can see all 4 of the Cassidy Men do resemble their Father. I wonder if Jack didn't insist on the Divorce from Shirley, if he might still be alive today. It's also sad that it was alcohol that was took Jack's life too. I know the reports say, he lit a Cigarette and it dropped in the couch, and the whole apt. went up in flames. They say he was drinking Whiskey that Night. If the bottle was knocked over, that would of fed the fire. I believe his death had a very hard impact on Shirley and all 4 of his Sons. Especially David, he had mentioned he hadn't talked to his Father for the last 9 months. Shawn mentioned it to in an interview. David had stated that's when his drinking got out of control. They had a lot of tragedy. Yet Shirley and her Family, still smile through their days. She does have a great legacy.
    Thank you for sitting down with Shirley Jones and doing this great article. I learned a lot more about her. I couldn't believe when She stated her . I would of never thought She was that age. God Bless Shirley and her Husband and her Son's and Grandchildren.

    • @jillwklausen
      @jillwklausen Год назад

      It makes sense that his father's death was the catalyst for David's drinking. Jack was also extremely mentally ill. He'd been found several times doing odd things while completely nude, including watering his front lawn with a garden hose. I hadn't realized or put together the time line that Jack stared courting Shirley while still married to David's mother. It's no wonder his mother was so resentful of Shirley and any role she may have had in his life. It somewhat surprises me that that resentment didn't trickle down to David, who clearly adored and respected Shirley.

    U can sure see the boys in her! They look really good & so did she & she still does! Shaun, Patrick & Ryan Cassidy are very very much in deep appreciation of her & everything that she’s ever done. Shirley Jones is a very good looking or pretty lady. I always watched the partridge family. Then the Hardy Boys & that’s when I 1st saw Shaun who was going to be a guest stair in The Nancy Drew Mysteries. Then my heart ❤️ went “BOOM!” Shaun struck me as unbelievable in gorgeous in appearance. It was a “big crush then!” 🤪🥰😉WOW!

    Wow, what a spectacular interview! This lady was like a unicorn interviewer. She had the composure of a cucumber, and I swear she had listening skills that could rival a supercharged hearing aid. She cared about what Shirley said so much, I think even the plants in the room started blooming! 🌼😄

    It's called, 'good old fashioned value's ", wife and mother first. Family first, most importantly.
    Too many kids these days, are raised, looked after by someone else, and don't know their parents and the importance of the family unit. No matter how big or small, respect, be loyal to your family.

    I just adore how authentic and down to earth Ms. Shirley is, and when I was a child watching her play the mom, she gave me a feeling of warmness and, although I loved and miss my own mother, I thought how cool it would be to have her as a mom or an aunt. And I just felt a great amount of grace and integrity and true wholesome and beautiful. And now, I believe, a great role model. And, I too, adore a wicked sense of humor, because life can be very tragic suddenly...I just put my baby doggy down, and I have been more deeply sad than ever. My own son is a father now, and I have to say, I may have loved and love my Buster Giacomo Allen, more ...mebe. Well he was my world. But, for Miss Shirley to have maintained such humanity and valued her family as she did, in that environment, which, I know a little bit about theater (Little Theatre of Winston-Salem, and University of Colorado, Theatreworks) as the love of my life, was a producing director/cofounder and Director producer. And I did some music he hired me for. A very crazy business, and he sadly, after all the manic years of success, sadly lost his way in theatre, and became very ill. I adored him, and was still so in love, and vowed to take care of him he'll and high water, but he took his life, but I was grateful I did get to spend the last year of his life with him. It was rough. But he, like Jack Cassidy, was a Romeo throughout, and that was never my cup of tea, to with someone who's heart ( and parts ) were elsewhere. So, I think it was maybe truly an act of kindness and in the long run because infidelity wears down a soul and spirit, esp. in woman who were raised by a loving mother and father, and have the morality that instills integrity-trust and respect. Quite rare, I have noticed sadly. And bravo keeping your values where you instilled all that goodness your children, and now they I imagine keep that family tradition flowing throughout. And the humor and the joy, as well
    Well done Ms. Shirley, and bravo choosing Marty as a husband, pishaw on the nay-sayers, I'd say, another incredibly good choice. Lastly, I had no idea you were 80! You look so fantastic? It appears you have a lifetime full of wise choices. One, I woke up, and next month is 40th high school reunion. My bff then, Jen, called me said how are you? I sad,vwell my boobs are sagging, my ass is going concave, and I have whiskers growing out of my chin, and I am not happy about any of it...she laughed so hard. I have to keep real, and you do, in a sea of narcissism, so you truly are a treasure, Miss Shirley, and thanks keeping it 100 as the new generation refers to as being honest. Don't think I'll attend that reunion necessarily, maybe I can get brave....God bless you, family, and outstanding job of interviewing a true treasure. That darm show may have been the reason I am a pro musician...it just dawned on me.....I do carry on..m.and on....so sorry, I am in grief, I'm not all there, currently.

      Oh sorry for the typos, and meant exclamation ‼️ not question mark after how fantastic you look, at 80 ‼️‼️‼️‼️Great, can't see very well without my other glasses that broke. ...this getting older isn't for wussies is it? I don't think my goal will be the Smuckers jar, nah..mlol
