  • We take a break from My Partridge Family Collection for this special episode, as we examine the unexpected turn of events at the California Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony of David Cassidy.
It’s unbelievable to think that what should have been a monumental event could turn into dismay for devoted David Cassidy fans. But it happened and I was there to witness it.
What began as a celebration of David's illustrious career quickly turned into a disappointing display as one of the induction speaker's remarks took a dark turn. Fans like myself, anticipating a tribute to this beloved icon, left disheartened and outraged by the disrespect of the speech.
Let’s honor David's contributions to music and entertainment and celebrate the joy and inspiration he continues to bring to fans worldwide. Together, let's make sure that David's legacy shines bright, undiminished by the negativity of one speech.

I had no idea this happened until this video. David needs more respect than what he got.

  • @SusanMarks-mm3mr

Made me sick. Reported it immediately. These people don't have any respect for David This man was s phenomenal artist, who gave his all. Had it removed.

The California Music organization is very poorly run. I hear complaints regularly about how the present the awards and how the ceremonies are rushed and uncomfortable. Lots of complaints.

Two things. Who the hell is Bella Funk? She’ll be forgotten apart from this awful business. David Cassidy is a legend and he’ll be remembered forever!

Just watched the speech that you mentioned. Awful!!! It seemed like this woman spoke more about herself than David. This was the wrong person to induct him. It seemed that this lady held a grudge against Dave. She highlighted mostly the lowlights in David's life rather than the fact that he was probably one of the most famous pop stars from 1970-75, I was shocked. She couldn't even put a positive spin on the fact that even though David had his ups and downs, or, demons he still was a great performer. Personally, I think David belongs in the Rock n Roll hall of fame along with The Monkess as well as other great acts from the early 70's such as The Raspberries(Eric Carmen), or, The Sweet(Ballroom Blitz) or Badfinger(Come and Get It). It seems the Rock Hall has something against that early 70's Power pop, or, Bubblegum pop! Call it whatever you want it was damn good pop/rock music and David's voice was great singing those great songs. He just had a great voice that is highly underrated. Granted, he didn't write most of the songs he sang, but, neither did the Temptations, The Supremes, and other acts in the Rock Hall.

Right on! David did more in his lifetime than some wanna-be dj who probably never listened to him in the 1st place.

How disrespectful of them. At least get somebody who knows about David to do the speech. He was totally honest about his problems, but that never detracted from what joy he gave us (and continues to do so) through his music. I hope they put it right.

I loved watching "The Patridge Family" as a young girl and especially loved David Cassidy.

Shame on whoever put this together

Wow I'm sorry you and other fans had to endure that awful insensitive speech made by Ms. Bella Funk. I also heard that Sam Hyman, David's best friend, walked out in the middle of her speech. From what I'm reading on FB the California Music Hall of Fame did issue an apology statement on their FB page and said that this person would not be giving any more speeches. Well in my book that's not good enough. Ms. Funk needs to issue a video apology to Mr. Hyman, the fans, attendees, and the CA Music Hall of Fame. I wonder how the other honorees felt listening to this garbage. It's shameful.

Thanks for telling us this story I had no idea about this, David will always remain my idol regardless.

  • @clarkridlen1966

We all wanted to be like a self invented Keith Partridge back in the day. Now kids want to be thug rappa's. How society has swan dived into the sewer!

Dear Patty, I am crying, as I write this, after sobbing uncontrollably, thru this whole video. I am one of David's greatest fans! I was doing something else, on YT, this evening, and your video dropped into my recommended vids. I was even apppauled at the Title, as i had no knowledge of this "Tribute", to beautiful David. I have never heard of this presenter, either, and WHY??? -did they not have Sam, or someone who knew and loved David, do it??? What a devastating display, of uncaring, and unfeeling. I wonder if David brushed this creepy woman, off, many years ago??? Who is she??? (reading from her phone, awful stuff from Wikipedia? disgusting, I read Wiki's account of David, only once, and was terrified, that it did NOT have ANY of the intricate detail, as all the other artist, on their site!!!) It does not mention anything about his true greatness, and legacy!!!

Hi Ms. Patty La Bella of MPFC, I’m a lifelong Californian and big fan of David Cassidy and The Partridge Family, and The Cowsills. My mother was also from New Jersey. Great you could meet many fans! Ron Dante was excellent. Great to see some of your collection and the light machine. David and you have done a great service to aspiring young musicians. Some of whom I know traveled long distances for the disgraceful California Music Hall of Fame induction. I just posted a disapproving comment under video of that elsewhere. Have a nice day!

  • @ninarines588

That's such a shame. He was an amazing singer and actor. My older cousin introduced me to his music when I was about 6 or 7 years old. I watched The Partridge Family all the time. I had his albums and loved the songs. Brown eyes, I think I love you, Cherish, Echo valley 26809, just to name a few.

  • @laurieeby7834

I came from Northern Ontario Canada to see this catastrophe. Thank goodness there was an afterparty that made the trip worthwhile. Great "rant"
