BUT I LIKE MAGIC >dies repeatedly okay putting 20 levels into strength this time and a few into agility so that berserk doesn't MISS 90% OF THE DAMN TIME
Well, I'm doing magic build. Like level 25 or so, and up ato this point I only invested points in magic... Yeah, I turned badass Demi-Fiend into everyone's jizz bucket...
Except Magic kind of destroys everything if you build your team right. I was running Scathach, Titania, and Succubus, and the only bosses that lasted more than 10-15 turns were the last 4 and Lucifer. Granted, physical is much easier and more versatile to use, but a good magic setup wrecks most everything. It should also be noted that the first 5-6 turns of every fight were spent buffing.
I relate to this on so many levels lol, it's about phases where you say to yourself "hey let's play a little bit to feel better" and then the game just do a brutal repulsion, also Thor's voice is hilarious, peace on all of your deaths that occurred this way, we're all on the same boat

on god i played persona 3 first and the endgame dungeons in p3 are just as difficult as standard starting encounters in older SMTs, the whole ass persona 3-5 line is just a kiddie pool warmup to get you ready for the real shit
The difference between difficulty in P3 is that you can’t control party members and the press turn system is fucked up so the whole thing feels fake. While Nocturne is considered difficult, you have way more options and the ability optimize your party literally as much as you want. I liked P3 for the visual novel aspect, but you will be wayyy more satisfied with Nocturne combat regardless of how hard it might be.
because ive played nocturne and those two games and believe those two to be superior, i just love demi fiends design, nocturne if you ask me is pretty weak compared to smt 4 and even some other non persona ps2 smts, theres barely any plot outside the first few hours and then every 5 hours after that where you bump into another person for like 2 seconds, theres no real alighnments, the techology stuff (demon summoning programs and such) that in my honest opinion defines megami tensei at least in the main games is missing entirely, no voice acting which compounds on the no story issue, yes the press turn battle system is the best turn based system i've ever played with but now that games like digital devil saga and smt 4 exist that A have a far more engaging plot and real voice acting, and yeah digital devil saga doesn't have a demon summoning program either but it's a spin off, it doesn't exactly need one (yes i know not having a summoning program is a dumb complaint but i don't care it bugs me) and smt 4 is basically nocturne but better in every way that isn't battle presentation. long story short nocturne is ok but there are much better smt games now, and that's not talking about persona
I think P5's combat was just as great as other SMTs. Bosses don't have endless hp, and difficulty is improved by other aspects. Maybe don't dive headfirst into Strange Journey or Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga or the Devil Survivor series might be a better choice.
I went and played persona 3, yet Nocturne is still really tough for me at points. I've only really gotten up to Matador since i have a lot of games I'm trying to play at once
Slenderquil Ramcharge yeah I don’t recommend playing more than 1 RPG simultaneously. Especially a game like Nocturne where it’s really easy to not remember where you’re at and what to do next after not playing for a while.

@@thewerebear1 That'd be one of the riders right? I like their battles they have fun gimmicks

I died here, turned off Nocturne then my PS3 before going to bed and haven’t played since. That was 4 months ago
I swear to god, this video gets recommended to me like every week. And i watch it every week.
I appreciate it!
Can't wait for people to start referring to Nocturne as the Dark souls of JRPG's even thought it has a difficulty setting
And was out almost a decade before Dark Souls
Can't wait for it to get called Persona rip-off
@@ammagon4519 which should not make sense considering they are both Atlus games.
Bruh the difficulty setting is just: Hard→Mega Hard→Ultra Hard→MC gets OHKO'D no matter what
This video unironically got me into smt thank you
Awesome! Glad to hear that
*Thor says: "DIE!"*
And then he did.
Wish I could go find my clip on twitch of me having the NG+ Amala Press Turn this early and doing 2 Rakukaja 3 Sukukaja first turn, then Thor basic attacking Demi Fiend for 2 crits in a row and ending the fight without using a single one of his press turns
That sounds pretty brutal. But that's just how this game is sometimes

Ah, the SMT wake up call. A classic.
SMT Nocturne HD REMASTER HYYYYYYYYYPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
First mistake: no debuffs on thor
It's what we or I'm, a "noob" gets on our first run, wrecked so badly. Although I had to admit, it was Matador that slayed me so bad and sent me to the afterlife so many times since he's one of the Fiends.
"Use your buffs and debuffs!" Is Nocturne's gimmick and rule of play.
Imagine doing a magic 🤢🤢 A magic bui 🤢🤢🤢 I can't even say it 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
Only real men do Magic build Hard TDE runs
BUT I LIKE MAGIC
>dies repeatedly
okay putting 20 levels into strength this time and a few into agility so that berserk doesn't MISS 90% OF THE DAMN TIME
Well, I'm doing magic build.
@@NEETKitten: haven't made it past the early game, and you have very little to work with magic-wise early on
>only has sukukaja.
Well theres your problem.
Thor: “Are you ready?”
*Yes*
Thor: *pulling out a gun*
“YEAH BUT ARE YOU _REALLY_ READY?”
I love how goofy Thor sounds while being very threatening
The ol smack-thunder combo
I relate to this on so many levels lol, it's about phases where you say to yourself "hey let's play a little bit to feel better" and then the game just do a brutal repulsion, also Thor's voice is hilarious, peace on all of your deaths that occurred this way, we're all on the same boat
What a lovely comment, Thank you for this :)
Now that the remake is coming out I'll be expecting this lol
Demifiend is basically all of us, while Thor is life in 2020
thor: hello, buffs?
demifiend: buff machine broke
thor: understandable, die
lol this comment is great
At the end of the day it's better than dying to mudo when you maxed on sukukaja lol.
i was so confused by the lack of buff/debuff in the first turn. That's like first rule when fighting SMT bosses.
Yeah that's how I played for at least half the game cause it was my first playthrough and completely blind
Maybe if I get a Magatama that absorbs lightning...
Looks it up.
You get it after beating Thor......
Cry
This is exactly what I went through when playing on the remaster. Forgot Narukami was earned from Thor lol
I come back to this video a lot, so I'll leave something that you may find slightly humorous.
Demifiend: "You should've gone for the head."
Thor: "Okay." _bonk_ _zap_
Thank you lol
Sometimes it do be like that
Thor: > Are you ready ?
Yes.
Show me your strength
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Bruh if I though persona 3 on normal was challenging I can wait to get my ass whooped when I play nocturne
on god i played persona 3 first and the endgame dungeons in p3 are just as difficult as standard starting encounters in older SMTs, the whole ass persona 3-5 line is just a kiddie pool warmup to get you ready for the real shit
The difference between difficulty in P3 is that you can’t control party members and the press turn system is fucked up so the whole thing feels fake. While Nocturne is considered difficult, you have way more options and the ability optimize your party literally as much as you want. I liked P3 for the visual novel aspect, but you will be wayyy more satisfied with Nocturne combat regardless of how hard it might be.
just skip it and play smt 4 or digital devil saga
Ziro you got Demifiend as your profile pic, why would you tell someone to skip Nocturne?
because ive played nocturne and those two games and believe those two to be superior, i just love demi fiends design, nocturne if you ask me is pretty weak compared to smt 4 and even some other non persona ps2 smts, theres barely any plot outside the first few hours and then every 5 hours after that where you bump into another person for like 2 seconds, theres no real alighnments, the techology stuff (demon summoning programs and such) that in my honest opinion defines megami tensei at least in the main games is missing entirely, no voice acting which compounds on the no story issue, yes the press turn battle system is the best turn based system i've ever played with but now that games like digital devil saga and smt 4 exist that A have a far more engaging plot and real voice acting, and yeah digital devil saga doesn't have a demon summoning program either but it's a spin off, it doesn't exactly need one (yes i know not having a summoning program is a dumb complaint but i don't care it bugs me) and smt 4 is basically nocturne but better in every way that isn't battle presentation. long story short nocturne is ok but there are much better smt games now, and that's not talking about persona
0:33 *Thor: DIE!*
Demi-Fiend: Ok **Dies**
I've dipped my toes in the water with persona 5, i feel like the real smt games are going to drown me
I think P5's combat was just as great as other SMTs. Bosses don't have endless hp, and difficulty is improved by other aspects. Maybe don't dive headfirst into Strange Journey or Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga or the Devil Survivor series might be a better choice.
If you’ve mastered Persona 5 on it’s harder difficulties, you might be okay when playing Nocturne on normal, as long as you got some patience.
@@TheBrutalSax I'm already swimming in jrpgs at the moment. Persona 3, persona 4, smt nocturne, the ps2 smt where your whole party becomes demons, final fantasy 6, and chrono trigger are all JRPGS I'm playing on the PS3 alone. And then there's also the ones I'm playing on switch and 3ds as well. I'll have to add smt5 to my list as well when it comes out
Im not surprised, I saw how torturous it can be, someone made a 4 video series where they used no buffs or debuffs on any enemies on Hard Mode, while getting the True Demon Ending, and they got so very far, but they had to use debuffs on the 2 final bosses of that route, even when they maxed out their levels, got the best spirits, and such

The best debuff skill in early game is Fog Breath.
"Die!" - Thor, god of thunder, before sending a warrior to the hall of Valhalla.
