This Emperor version was released on special edition of the band's debut full length "In the Nightside Eclipse".
If this crowd actually knew their shit about Black Metal, they would be fucking hyped knowing this song was made by arguably the best black metal band of all time. All hail Bathory and it's mastermind, Quorthon
It's Wacken, basically only students who go there who know nothing about music, they just want to have fun camping and seeing some bands.

B A T H O R Y ...and Quorthon. Nothing else needed to add. Listening since 1984 being 15-years teenager till my 54 now. He's shown us the way(s) how to do and explore black and viking metal. A Fine Day To Die is evergreen/everblack gem.
One of the greatest covers of all time - of one of the greatest black metal songs of all time - by one of the greatest black metal bands of all time.
This gave me the chills. Excellent rendition.
What happened to the Wacken crowd? It used to be amazing and active, i mean come on this isn't just another Emperor song.. It's a really well-known classic of Bathory.
Perhaps they are calm just to pay their respects to a legand?

I am a Bathory fan since 30 years. It is still one of my all time favourites, both the band and this particular song. I am not a fan of Emperor apart from one single song (I am the Black Wizards) - to me their music is just boring. But nevertheless, I think this version of "A Fine Day to Die" is absolutely fantastic and better than the original. Yep, better. The harmony singing in the first part is fabulous as is the impeccably professional execution of the rest. Absolutely beautifully done Emperor, Quorthon could not be happier!
