This video is a step-by-step crafting guide for The Witcher 3, specifically detailing how to craft Runestone & Glyph upgrades, as well as RuneWord & GlyphWord Enchantments. It is primarily aimed at beginners but is also ideal for previous players who want a refresher on the basics.
In this complete step-by-step beginners guide to crafting for the Witcher 3, I walk through the entire process to fully craft the Igni Glyph stone and upgrade it all the way through LESSER, STANDARD, and GREATER qualities.
I also cover the exact steps required to craft the Chernobog Runestone from scratch, once again, all the way to its top tier GREATER version.
Every recipe, material and ingredient at all three quality levels is explored and crafted from scratch, such as Glyphs of Infusion and Lesser Runestones.
I reveal where to purchase the crafting diagrams for every Runestone and Glyph available in the game, at all quality levels, so you can craft every single one, unlimited times, by yourself.
Once you know how to craft one of these upgrades all the way to Greater quality, it’s a very similar process for all other upgrades, as well as any other craftable item in the entire game.
Toward the end of the video I reveal how to add additional Sockets to all your best gear via the only mage crafter in the game, the Ofieri Runewright.
Once he’s located and unlocked he also offers the service to Enchant your armor and weapons with powerful Runeword and Glyphword Enchantments, opening up new possibilities for combat builds.
Every Enchantment he offers at all 3 Levels of potency are fully detailed in easy to read charts at the end of the video.

Hey gamer grade it's Matt again I had a question you said if I did have one you'd try to help out I think halfway got the hang of the roommaster now but I do have a couple extra questions there's a few things like the greater glyph of mending it's supposed to heal you over time I have one equipped but I haven't noticed that it does anything have I not done it right what can you tell me about some of those glyphs not the ones that you find but the special ones that you can equip that he has like mending stuff like that and how to do it properly and how to tell if it actually works
Thank you for your video, I have followed all the steps and created several lesser glyphs and I am still not able to crest the greater glyphs. I purchased all of the diagrams for the 3 lvls off glyphs and can only create the 2% glyphs. Can you please help if you’re able to?
After nearly 130 hours into the game only have I started to delve into runestones and alchemy. All this while, I've only been rolling/dodging and striking when there's an opening.
Dark souls have taught me well hahaha

In general id recommend the Chernobog Runestones for all weapons, as this increases raw damage output across the board to all enemies. With Glyphs, its best to focus on ones that boost the Intensity for the Signs that you use the most. Personally i like Quen and Igni a lot, so i only use Glyphs for those two.

What level are you now?
GamerGrade I’m currently level 22 just started Skellige, got the enhanced Griffin gear so I decided to go for a Fast attack/signs build. Then I couldn’t help myself but wonder when I should start using those rune slots, I guess this is more of endgame stuff and it was good to understand it, very clear video! Awesome dude! Keep it up!

Yeah to be efficient with your spending, its best to wait until you get the Grandmaster set before upgrading it with all the best Greater runes and glyphs.
Saying that you do pickup a lot of lesser runes and glyphs so feel free to slot those, just dont spend a lot on upgrading them to Greater quality to slot into Witcher gear you plan to upgrade later.

Excellent guide, very quick and straight no bs and nos long explanations that take the viewer for a complete moron, 👍btw the runeright is expensive af !! He used 5-15k crowns to buy a small tent, distiller and a chair 😬.

I agree, splashing out the full 30K Crowns on the enchanter is only really worth it if you are super rich. He obviously stashed most of those funds elsewhere lol.
However, the initial 5K Crowns is definitely worth it for his socketing service alone :)

The stones I put into the swords don't appear to be counted on any of the boons , it's only showing the swords default percentages, for example if I put bleedingl stones at 5%, it should add 15% chance of bleeding under the stats but it doesn't show, is that a bug or is that normal?

Yes its actually a mod for the PC version. I got a bit fed up with the limited carrying capacity. Although rto be honest it does break immersion somewhat lol.

@@GamerGrade for whatever reason, I really like how the camera is positioned when overburdened. It feels like I can get a better look at the world. And since, naturally, Geralt would walk from point A to point B, instead of running, it feels more immersive. Thus, I overburden myself on purpose.

Consistent selling throughout the entire game of armor / weapons / upgrades etc looted during questing and exploration. You need to factor in this habit early 👍

Can you give me any incentive to craft runestones/glyphs when crafting them always costs more than buying them?
I would like to farm the crafting materials needed myself instead of buying them overpriced. Why buy overpriced materials when you can buy the completed Greater Runestone/Glyph cheaper?
Unfortunately it seems to be really hard to farm stuff (e.g. Linen can only be looted from random chests or by dismantling Armor). Idk where to farm Armor drops but it’s irrelevant anyway then because dismantling Armor costs more than actually buying Linen off Merchants which kills the incentive again for me.
Would appreciate any input from you towards this topic. As currently it’s rather sad that the only reason to craft runestones/glyphs is having fun crafting overpriced stuff when you can buy the end-product cheaper and to bypass the 5 days of Meditation to refresh the Stock of Greater Runestones/Glyphs.

Yes its definitely more expensive if you craft upgrades yourself from scratch, but the option is there regardless. However, over the course of your adventure, you will find for free many standard upgrades, of which 3 can then be upgraded to a Greater version, which is much cheaper than buying a Greater version. This is the only time it will be worth crafting your own from a cost perspective, although you're not really crafting your own, just upgrading your existing ones.

One quick question, the glyph which increases item durability, does its effects apply only to armor or swords too? Having sword more durable is worth investing into. But the other stuff seems unnecessarily costly. Especially on PS4 where no mods are available and you can't just produce 100k coin out of the blue
Unfortunately Glyphs can only slot into Armor sockets, and are incompatible with Weapons.
@@GamerGrade a shame really. The armor barely needs repair in my case. It's the sword that keeps needing repair after every good fight
Yeah i agree, they should have made a Runestone with a similar perk, not sure why they didn't make this available at the Runewright.
Does all the enchanting rune and glyph carry to NG+ ?, Because it it expensive, need 30000 crowns to do, and how about all item that we stash inside the chest? It is gone or carry over to NG +?, Because i'm about finish the game and start NG +, thanks, (1,62 patch)
Yep everything stored in your stash will carry over to NG+ :)

You need to upgrade the skills associated with the Signs you want to improve, as well as equip anything that increases 'Sign Intensity', which 'makes all Signs more powerful. This can come on armor pieces (especially the Griffin School Witcher Gear), Runes and Glyphs for putting into sockets, as well as Skills.

Can you ever find those diagrams out in the game or is it safe to just buy all rune/glyph diagrams?
I would recommend just buying the diagrams for runes and glyphs, however only buy the ones you actually want and plan to use. Its very unlikely you will need to craft all of them, so dont waste coin buying them all.

No all runes and glyphs will be transferred to the higher quality item. However, Enchantments from the Runewright will be destroyed when you upgrade the gear. 👍

Got a question. I'm running a pure sign build. My silver sword is slotted with 3 greater veles and my steel sword is enchanted with rejuvenation. Just wondering if i replace the enchantment on my steel with another 3 greater veles, will the sign intensity stack for both swords?
Yes with Runes you will receive the upgrade bonuses of both swords equipped in their slots 👍
Bear in mind some enchantments will only apply to the individual sword with the Enchantment, such as Severance.

Which is the best enchantment to get for a griffin build?
There isnt really a 'best' enchantment, but Entanglement synergises well with the 2nd set bonus for Grandmaster Griffin gear: ruclips.net/video/MaNk8TZcpG4/видео.html
Eruption is great if you focus on using a lot of Igni in combat.
Other decent Enchantments would be Preservation, and Severance if you use a lot of Special Attacks (Whirl or Rend).
It all really depends on your combat style.
Dont hesitate to play around and test them out!

What is an easy way to know whether an item can be obtained buy dismantling another item? As opposed to go through every item you have to check if one of them will yield the item you want?
Yeah there's no easy ingame method besides manually checking the results panel.

If you're on PC then simply drag the rune and drop it on the sword, or on console select the rune using the A/X button, then select the sword to install to also using A/X (A for XBOX, X for PS). 👍

It’s my first play through (I know almost a decade late), one of your tips includes one of the hearts and stone dlc missions…should I start the dlc? Wouldn’t it mess up the story for a first time player?
No it wont affect the main story, its entirely separate.

Yes they do stack so install as many as you can :)

Unfortunately the individual effects of the upgrades are lost to create the desired effect of the enchantment.

Unfortunately it will be lost after upgrading and the enchant will need to be re-applied.

Are you visiting a Master level crafter (like Hattori or Yoanna), rather than Journeyman or Amatuer crafters?
