Am looking for a job in the NHS I can't do care homes ,the reason why some people would say you can get in trouble is because nursing home staff can be very unprofessional. The worst thing that happened to care homes in uk is the use of referral and employing people that have never attained any qualification going to college even if it's a short course can change the way someone acts professionally
Thanks for this info Nanelle ❤❤❤.I sometimes envy my friends making more omoney 💴 on care homes but when i remember the stress 😢they have yo go through, i appreciate my small NHs pay. I am thinking of making a video about this on my channel too!🤔
In the US, it depends on the state. NY state has strict guidelines. We are also seeing higher levels of acuity in the nursing home. It feels like a nursing home/hospital.
I had my experience in nursing home in the UK, I will never, I mean never work in a nursing home again or any stand alone setting. I worked in a nursing home and Google was one of my best friend and also had nursing friends for standby just in case.
Hi Nanelle ,yes having previously worked in the ED things are done strictly by the book . I did agency in a Care home and i was extremely overwhelmed with the number of residents .
Hi Nanel, what could be the cause of having fewer nurses working in care homes, Are the authorities aware of this, 60:1 is way too much, so what can the nurse's community do about this, considering that they stand a great risk of losing their practising licence? I really don't recommend that my people should travel for a diaspore job and be landed in trouble by design of the employer.
Care homes in the uk, are really interested in employing staff for different countries , it simple they are paying you the lowest wages, and that why no one from the uk is so intresting in working for them, staff from whatever country you come from are being used as cheap labour,so they make all the money
There is bank in nursing home than NHS. Problem is agency nursing in care home. People want to rock up to a new joint with no idea what you walking into. If you’re permanent and they say you looking after 40 patients why on earth would you go beyond induction?
I will NEVER Zwork at a nursing home. They want you to do everything that you were taught not to do..and how can one person manage 60 or 80pts (in America) during 1 8hr shift. That's where you go with the intention to lose your license.
That's a damn lie. I have worked in care homes(for 15 years and counting while I was a cna at some point and now being a nurse for 2 years I have worked in 4 of them) many several of them more than 10 maybe about 20 including the ones I went through at some point when I was agency for 1 year . I have worked in 3 diffrent states in my 15 years in nursing and I have never seen or even experienced when there was 60 patients to one nurse . I have seen 30, 28, 25,anywhere from 24- 35 in nursing homes and higher 30's in nursing homes on overnights shift and sometimes these same facilities will give you less on day and evening shift but no way 60,. The only way a nurse will get 60 it's if it's a call out and they always the scheduler and managers, Don, Adon all work hard very hard to fill the hole. And in my 15 years I worked a lot sometimes I had two jobs at a full-time, partime and I have never ever seen when a nurse had or heard when a nurse had 60 patients. The most I have seen is 43, 42, 45.and in some of those instances on overnight shift and in some of those instances they were kind of short. The average and.most I have usually seen on nights is 32, 38
I went on a shift in a care home to find I was the only Registered Nurse there for 40 patients!! I almost walked away if I did not have the support of the HCAs. Even so it was such a stressful situation. When the day shift arrived one of the patients came out of her room fell and broke her hip. OMG!! Image if that happened and I was on my own. At the end of that shift I cried and told my husband I nearly lost my license and I would never do that again!!
Well ,, i do not think nursing homes are that bad considering you worked there for more than 5 years . Safety is subjective , some people complain about the nhs ,,, being allocated the challenging cases as well .
Exactly....watch this channel, very inconsistent...first saying nursing home is good money, better life, work balance now ...everything has changed , she stayed there because they gave her visa. Thats all....now in her opinion care home are dangerous after she got into nhs and on ILR.
Wow..😢this is so sad to hear that they dont hire more nurses in care homes. In Estonia there are probably bad carehomes too,but the one i choose to put my grandmother in had atleast 3 nurses if not 4 plus kitchenladies to cater to 15residents.
I don’t care what state or what country you are in a nurse taking care of 40 plus pts is impossible! No way can you give quality care to each person. You will have how many tube feeders, dressings, finger sticks, trachs…. etc etc…..and I’m not even talking about meds of which many need to be crushed! Impossible‼️‼️ It should be illegal to have this ratio of nurse to pt. Yes, you can lose your license.. You are delusional if you think you can’t. It’s the reason I don’t work in nursing homes any more.
Nursing home is very tough.... Imagine no having extra battery for syringe driver...i was baffled. No wrist band to identify patient Some dont even have dia name on the door. Sometimes at midnight i have to go and start doing saturation check to know if dy are desaturating

NY is full of crap. I’ve had 60 pts. They are clearly aware of this. This should be illegal. No way can you give quality care with 60 pts. No way.

True my dear
Both places can be dangerous if you fail to keep your license. It’s not up to the facility.

Anytime I better to work in hospital. Nursing homes are like hell on earth.

Wow
I have always been scared of working in Care homes. Kudos to Care home nurses
These people really need to employ a LOT of people!!!!
One person to 40 patients???
That's Insane!!! 😂
They just don't want to spend money, looking for cheap labour especially the ones who offer COS😡
Louder !
Hi Nanelle, some people have had terrible experiences in both settings. It depends on individual situations
Exactly
I agree
Nanelle, how did you survive 5years in nursing home ? For visa ?
Well detailed video.
If I want to get in touch, how do I go about it
Thank you for this information sis
Never hide falls, at least hand it over to the next nurse
Document as well !
never hide falls full stop. and make sure you are guided by the falls protocol and have done everything in there.

@ZimnaSophie if you watched the same video, she didn't condemn care homes. She's only pointing out the shortcomings and challenges of care homes.
Some care home dont even have oxygen
Whattttt?? Is that even legal?
