To anyone watching this and thinking it’s not a good idea to move from the care home because of the money, I left a care home that was paying me £48,000 in 2019 to take up a £24,000 job in the NHS, and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I’m currently a deputy team leader in operating theatres for one of the biggest trauma centres here in England. Choose personal development and job security over money cos eventually, the money also comes in.
@@evelynantwi3362 There’s actually no hurry in this life, which is true, and the point I was trying to make is, nobody should think moving is a wrong idea; that’s all I’m trying to point out. When I made my move, I was only 10 months here in the Uk, so nobody can say I made all the money before leaving and seriously the thought that money is made only in the care home/ or the care home pays better is a facade. Majority of the care home nurses work 44/48hrs a week, and that’s where they make the money. The NHS is 37.5hrs a week, so if the person does bank shifts to fill the hour gap, plus work weekends and nights, that NHS staff member clearly earns just as you or more in addition to the benefits you don’t get in a care home. Just move when the time is right, but what you have to understand is, the more you wait, the more it becomes difficult for you and that’s because when you move, the NHS isn’t going to match your salary, which will make you feel like it’s a wrong move. Let me not talk plenty cos everyone knows what’s best for them.
@@Nanamma23 well there’s also team leader positions and clinical lead positions in the care home sectors. There are a lot of senior positions in the care home sectors . It really just depends where you want to work.
Part 2 continued..... NHS specifically HSCNI-- the majority of the units on long days have 13hr shifts. The working hours for a day that you are actually paid for is less, mostly day starts at 07:45 ends at 20:45..1 hr 15min break is not paid...hence if still on COS you will need 37.5hrs to meet visa sponsorship requirements hence when they calculate you 37.5 hrs breaks are not counted and you end up doing one extra day a month to full fill these hours. It is long hours with burnout 😢 4..Note because the money is bad, you end up at work most of the time, to keep ur Agency side hustling going, and this leads to burnout, why because those with other income avenues / benefits afford to be offsick, the floor will never be fully staffed.. they know their system well, when they are due for assessments or when their salary starts to dwingle of sick leave they return to work briefly, before leaving again for another 5moths..and who is covering the floor the broke ones, why because you need ur Agency shift and you cant do it on offsick it is consideres fraud. 5.A) If you dont like being broke and exhaustion. B)if u already have your experience in hospital and just craving adrenaline rush, do join bank staff please abeg.. and still maintain your experience.. Well done ! Congratulations on your new role. Working in the NHS is the best decision you have made because having worked in the ward and now a Clinical Research Nurse ,the benefits are enormous aside the money being small. When i had injury in May,i stayed home for almost two months and i was still paid in full. The peace of mind is great especially when you have a good manager. All the best in your new journey.❤
Nanelle my dear the experience of working with the eldery in a care home is such a secret weapon in your corner. The wisdom and empathy you gained in those years (don't underestimate it) All the best in the nhs x
She is not underestimating it .. she even has a video where she talks about how good the care home is in those aspects .. She just wants to broaden her knowledge because as she said, she has very little experience in nursing as a whole ..
Yes sis, welcome to the NHS knowing stuffs makes you feel so good plus don’t worry the increment adds up and you don’t pay as much tax, you go home with almost the same especially when you add nights and unsocial hours. It’s so worth it sis.
I moved from NHS to care home not really because of money but stress and toxic working staff. In the hospital I felt nursing in UK is too difficult. However, in the nursing home is easy with more money. Despite enjoying the care home work I still feel I will go back to NHS in the future because there is no career progression for care home nurse.
Hmmm I’ve worked both in NHS and care, I prefer care home. You can still progress in the care home sector. I’ve also worked in A&E, thereafter applied and got a Unit Manager position in the care home. it really just depends where you want to work.
Exactly 💯 some don't really like to do core bedside nursing or work in a hospital environment, others may prefer money to skills. It's all a matter of choice after all some nurses are lecturers in the University and they don't Practice any nursing skills

Hey Nanelle, I also moved from a ward similar to the care home to the emergency department and so far I have NO REGRETS. Definitely busier and I have to be on top on my knowledge to educate patients and practice safely but I’m learning SO MUCH and that’s the goal.
NHS is the way to go. I've worked private, and all they care about is themselves. I was mentally and psychologically abused by them. They don't care about their staff. I prefer NHS, more togetherness. Money is not all.
Working in the Goverment sectors is the best decision to take in UK. Job security guaranteed for life unless you want to leave. You made a good choice Nanelle 🎉
This is encouraging. As a nurse as well I am eager to gain more skills. Will be taking the plunge and working in those challenging acute areas as well 💪🏾

No disrespect...the views and sentiments are not entirely true...Having worked in both care homes and nhs, there are a few things that need to be stated.... 1. Sick leave is not unlimited . If u are offsick for a day it known as a period right and same if you are off sick for a month its still recoreded as a period. These off sick periods irregardless of length or count are picked by the system and they feed into your fitness to practice analysis ,hence you have to give a reason each time and if longer than 7 days you have to be backed by a GP note, note your supervisor is inconstant contact with you during this time and she passes the assessments to the occupational health and risk assessments that can lead to unfitness status..so it can not be abused. Offsick is also paid in full for 3months, and titrated down by 6th month the basic u receive is not anything, so dont be misled, read your contract well well.. 2. Nanelle stayed in care home for five years earning great money and managed to buy a house while working in a care home if I’m not mistaken. I believe she’s now moving to nhs to get clinical skills. But we shouldn’t discourage people from working in care homes as there are some really great care homes out there. Wherever you work in health there are some ups and downs. It’s good for her to say the benefits of going to the NHS but let’s not forget she worked in a care home for 5 years and the care home money helped her financially. Now that she’s moved to the NHS it seems as if she’s discouraging people to work in care homes when she herself worked there for a whole 5 years

To be honest if you have plans for babies go for nhs job oooo! I almost fell for care home job money when I was about moving to the Uk, but because I had experienced care home setting in some other country I had lived and in fact I didn't last more than 2weeks in d job oo I ran to hospital setting cos the toxi!!! city was much 😂😂😂 I admire people who can work in care home settings! I can attend to same patients in hospital kind of setting but you see that care home settings where some staff be acting like the own it 😊😂😂 its not for me ooooo
I want to share that I've got a colleague who is now retired after working in the NHS for 20 years. He got a lump some of £70,000. He is back working on the ward as a new starter. He voiced that he's only been working NHS all these years. No agency work. I was like, Wow.
You have to come to America.. California. Best place for nursing in the world.I left the NHS 20 years ago and I’ve never looked back. Yes,the training and experience in the UK is second to none and you will get paid so well when you get here. Wish you only the best in your new job.❤

I can attend to same patients in hospital kind of setting but you see that care home settings where some staff be acting like the own it 😊😂😂 its not for me ooooo
you see ooo

I want to share that I've got a colleague who is now retired after working in the NHS for 20 years. He got a lump some of £70,000. He is back working on the ward as a new starter.
He voiced that he's only been working NHS all these years. No agency work. I was like, Wow.
interesting

You have to come to America.. California. Best place for nursing in the world.I left the NHS 20 years ago and I’ve never looked back. Yes,the training and experience in the UK is second to none and you will get paid so well when you get here. Wish you only the best in your new job.❤
It's not for everybody
True
How about cost of living. Is it really worth it
Olive can i interview you please ?
@@ado198,it is better than the UK. We don’t have taxes on food and we grow a lot of it here. Life in general is a bit easier than the UK. Not to mention sun 365 days a year. It’s like Uganda where I’m from.
Next to comment on Nanelle video. 🎉
