I think both natural light and flash lights are good depending on the scenario and the creativity of the photographer. It would be unfair to compare. So, when I hear photographers say things like "I'm a natural light photographer" or "I only work with flashlights" it causes me to wonder why we should put our creativity in a box. Great session all the same. I love your presentation style and I definitely learnt a thing or two.
Both looks are very nice and tell two different stories of the same model and location. This shows the benefits of knowing natural and modified lighting. Great video, I learned a thing or two
Two excellent Photos, I enjoyed looking the video. To be honest, in this setup I prefer natural light. I fits her style and make the picture look a bit harsh but also very sportive. The picture with the flash looks a little bit like Flasdance or so, like disco in the 80th. But it has its own charm and I like it, but not as a sports photo. By the way I like using MagMod, especially changing the modifier on the run. And combining them makes them very versatile.
Pye, the 2 kilos of the prop- hilarious!!!! We met at PPA in Atlanta and I gotta say you are as genuine in person as you are on video. Love the videos!
2:00 - I see a man of experience when handling rugs. Remembered one time when rolling up rugs from a stranger's AirBnB in Argentina and I got hit with so many nasal allergies, it ruined my long getaway weekend. I wish I had brought those to prevent it.
While appreciating the work involve lighting with the flash and the effects created, there's a place in a different storyline for the natural light shot. I like both.
Hi Payam, I love both lighting options and you made me laugh a lot at the beginning i have 2 questions if I may: 1.can that 42 inch softbox work with a normal speedlight ? 2.the outside grid prevents the light tfrom spilling over the floor, correct? thanks!!
Where can I buy the smoke machine in an aeresol can? That was a very nice touch. My favorite look was when your soft light was half lighting the back wall. You know you're dealing with a great photographer when your first shot looks that amazing!
Ok…pardon my ignorance, but why such a high ISO with the flash? Guess I have tunnel vision on always keeping it low with flash. I’m assuming you’re keeping it higher so you can keep the lights at a lower power?
If he reduces the ISO, then he'd have to bump up the shutter speed to compensate and with flash it would require high speed sync. With the Profoto lights he's using, shouldn't be a problem but that'll probably use more battery power so that might be his reasoning. And ISO800 in modern cameras is great quality so no issues there.
The natural light shot looks great, however, the one using flash is more unique. Both are great, just depending on what you’re using the images for in my opinion.
Great Job. I would prefer the flash scene has one more light, say red that will face the wall and make that vintage wall show in the picture, that wall is unique to the scene and I think the flash just get rid of it. Just a thought but I dig both.
Flash 100%! The natural is nice, but she's basically the same exposure as the wall behind her, and the added colors with the strobes is the cherry on top!
In the end lights don't. Photographer does. I use both systems depending on the situation. And then again yes, in most cases we don't have to worry about blurry photos with strobes.
@@MagnetMod Well the natural light image is an editorial portrait that describes the subject and the setting in subtle ways, while the flash image is more of a bold commercial stock photo. Maybe the relevant comparison might be to see how closely you can match the natural light image using only the flash.

Definitely agree, there's no right or wrong, but rather a right fit for the purpose and story being told.
100% It is true. Want to have all the tools and skills so you can pull out wherever your creativity takes you.
I learned a lot from this video, including not to trust Peerspace. Nice job.
buahahaha, I learned this as well =)

My favorite shot/angle is at 6:55 with natural light, gorgeous angle and light!
It's an amazing shot. Fun to see all the different types of lighting (both natural and flash) one can use in the same setting.

I can see that! There's nothing wrong with either, and you're spot on that each has their own look/feel.
The most beautiful model I have seen and the photos are great. I like more the ones with flash.
Pye, the 2 kilos of the prop- hilarious!!!!
We met at PPA in Atlanta and I gotta say you are as genuine in person as you are on video.
Love the videos!
Isn't that part hilarious! Agree, Pye is just as genuine.
Appreciate that Jeff!
Photography is all about the lighting. In terms of how to control an the lighting, I am looking at good example of it. Good job.
Indeed! Thank you!
Great video, thanks! I prefer the flash shot, and am wondering what you used for that spray fog look?
Glad you enjoyed it! The fog is done with Atmosphere Aerosol

Love them both! Can't wait to try them. Thanks
So glad you enjoyed it!
Removing that carpet was definitely the way to go.
indeed, I think that thing was alive.
Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference

thanks Sir Pye for sharing your insight btw that's a nice place to shoot lots of character imo
Flash creates better mood…thanks for sharing.. great work… 😊
Agreed!
Thumb up for the one with flashes!
Awesome video! Both versions are great. Natural light was easier to setup :)
On top of being the best educator, you’re extremely funny and entertaining to watch, Pye 😂 Thank you for the quality content! See you at 11 am today 📸
He is quite the legend! How exciting that you get to hang with him today. Enjoy!
@@MagnetMod Thank you!
Ahh, thx friend! Awesome having you in our community and coaching program!
Nice work Pye! Loved both shots!

It's called Atmosphere Aerosol. And thank you!
@@payamjirsa What a perfect name for it. Keep up the great work. I'll see ya on your next video!

I generally shoot higher ISO (when I know it won't matter much in terms of quality) in order to shoot at lower flash powers.
@@payamjirsa sure, 💯 makes sense, ty sir. love your vids, always informative
Flash does it for me. Thanks!!!
what's kind of smoke spray did you use ? Does it effect the fire alarm ?
Atmosphere Aerosol. Yes it can set off alarms (or so I've heard) so be careful where it is used.
@@MagnetMod thank you
I like the flash version. Well done.

I'm for flash in this one too!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Flash all the way on this one. Excellent stuff as always!!
We might be a bit bias, but we like the flash one as well in these two comparisons. Love the use of the gels for a touch of color as well.
Appreciate it Jerry!
So lovely 🎉❤
Love the flash shot.
💯 off camera flash result is better. Because we have so much control.
Pye the man… love seeing your videos man
He is awesome!

Great lesson as always.
Do you have a link for the canned fog?
Atmosphere Aerosol is the name of the company.
OCF, I hope everyone is ok I tried to be as respectful as I could. Great shoot both of you as always.
It can be a touchy subject right? 😂
It also looks like this is a 2nd video where you used the rotolight
Loved the video liked the natural light 👍
Glad you enjoyed
Very cool!
Great video natural light good all the time but off camera dose rock more vid like this please
Like both but love the flash better 😊
Thanks for leaving a comment!
me too!
Flash 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 natural light is awesome, but only for some stuff. Flash for everything
Thanks for sharing!! ⚡️
Flash 100%! The natural is nice, but she's basically the same exposure as the wall behind her, and the added colors with the strobes is the cherry on top!
Those added colors are pretty awesome.
Flash ... you're the master!
Indeed, he is!
Natural light for the win!
I love the shots with flash better
Off camera flash light ❤
Unfair, you pay more attention to the flash photo....In natural light, I would open the window not completely and place a light reflector behind Kiara
I could see that being effective to help create a rim on her.
@@MagnetMod It's unfair for me to make an educated guess since I wasn't present during the photos.
I understood your explanation, thanks for the tip, I hadn't seen that
Both are beautiful, but I like a little bit more the flash scenario on this one…..
Thanks for commenting. We agree on this one it does stand out more.
Flash adds more depth.
Flash definitely
Nice ❤
Thanks 🔥
Flash in this scene all the way!
Thanks for watching and commenting.
I love the flash
It is a great shot.
There both great but I like greediness of the natural light
They are both good but nothing beats flash
we like how you think.
Flash tells the story better 😅
Agree. In this shot it does make it more dynamic.
In the end lights don't. Photographer does. I use both systems depending on the situation. And then again yes, in most cases we don't have to worry about blurry photos with strobes.
Natural light.. simplicity
OCF all the way.

Sure, you can photograph a beautiful model that looks amazing. But try doing a shoot of 2 kilos and make that look equally stunning! 🤣
Right! Ultimate challenge. Risky at that. Lol.
Get ready for the Feds to bust down your studios doors. Hahaha 😂
Fortunately it was just a rental. But right?!
Flash 4 me love you eye man but the edit on the natural light I didn’t like it, great content as usual
Noted! Thanks for your vote.
haha, I wanted to turn it black and white. But would have been weird for the comparison. But I feel ya, I wasn't a fan of my edit either =)
I think these two images are not sufficiently similar to compare them in any meaningful way.
Right on. If we did another video similar to this one what advice would you give us to make them more comparable?
@@MagnetMod Well the natural light image is an editorial portrait that describes the subject and the setting in subtle ways, while the flash image is more of a bold commercial stock photo.
