Thank you for creating these educational videos Pye. You have this wonderful way teaching which makes learning so much easier. Looking forward to using my MagBeam when it arrives.
Thank you for this video; I've been trying to find instructions on how to use the Magbeam for over six months. this was perfectly explained and demonstrated.
I love doing this. I have done jobs where the there is a party with dancing but the lighting is really really bad and its not very dark in there either. This set up can make a really non atmospheric party look like a great party. It can be tricky not allowing other flashlights to affect the coloured projection onto the back wall (when you have multiple moving subjects and no room for an octabox with grid!!) Thanks Pye for another great tutorial. I've learned huge amounts from you over the years.
Love the shot! Thanks for the creative setup. I have two questions: Can you combine both lights behind her, i.e., put the gel and the Magbeam on the same flash unit. Would that work? Also is there another way to light up Kiara?
We've tested it on a few different continuous lights and haven't had a ton of success getting the patterns to be clean. It was designed primarily for flashes.
I’ve had this for years and never used it. Partly because I couldn’t get the patterns to show up. I tried with this video but still nothing. What am I doing wrong?
I noticed you edited out the portion of when you try to squish the mag beam rubber holder down to its smallest size before using the starburst gobo. Too bad, as I have the Magbeam too and find squishing it and keeping it neat extremely difficult. I will assume you too have difficulty and cut that part out. Do you know of anywhere one can be shown the correct technique to condense the rubber into itself properly and neatly? It is not an easy and straightforward task.
Pye ya knocked it out the park again. It’s been a long wait for the return of the Magbeam!
He did!
Thank you! Definitely a great little tool!
Hey Pye! I really enjoy Your videos in many ways....it is because of the visual - technical - informational side of in it. Thank You.
We are so glad you love the videos. Pye is awesome!
Question - can you pop the gel onto the magbeam & mask setup to accomplish the look with 2 lights instead of 3??
Pye is awesome! More please!

@@payamjirsalove the work you two do together. Very inspiring
I love the magbeam kit! Is this an updated version?
Is it necessary for the two lights in the back or can that be done by gelling and using the mag mask on one light? Or was that just a creative choice?
Good question
Do the new masks fit with the OG Beam?
Simply awesome tutorial…..
Ty Professor Pye…
So good! Now I’m going to get my magbeam out! Are all the masks different from the original masks? Excellent work Pye!
Great video. I just ordered the pro kit version.

amazing!!!
Is the mag beam redesigned or is it just the old one?
Would that work outside on a wall to
You want to be in a space where there's not too much light. It would work outdoors at night, but not during the day when bright.
thanks
