The M8 was my first Leica as well! I used it for 5 years and took it on many trips and took thousands of amazing photos with it. It finally bit the bullet and died an abrupt death on one beautiful morning. I miss it and it's amazing color and I actually really liked that it was 10mp as it forced me to commit to a composition, just like film. Like you, I knew with the M8 that a Leica is for me but I also realized that a digital Leica is not for me. Now I'm happy with a film Leica. Happy shooting and thanks for the great videos!
@@frozenf8 I saw your video on the M3! Thanks for sharing your experience and it helped me decide which camera to buy. I have a Leica MP in black paint finish. I found it in a store in Victoria, BC. It was "used" but there was no brass revealed and even the bottom plate sticker was there so it was almost brand new. I feel very lucky to find it as I know they are pretty hard to come by.
how do you use the ir cut filter when shooting color? do you use coded lenses only or did you re-code non coded lenses? the voigt 28mm is not coded...so how did that work out...i find the color looks terrible without the hassle of filter/coding....thoughts??
I only used the ir cut filter a few times. The only thing I noticed without filter was the black fabric shows purple, and I was ok with it. About the coding, my lens didn't have any, and again I didn't notice terrible colors or vignetting, maybe because 28mm with a crop factor of 1.3 is not that wide, or maybe I wasn't that picky!
Nice video, but sad to hear. I have a M8 and I absolutely love it. I love the images it produces the limited iso has never been a problem I treated like a film camera and the B&W images are on par with a Leica monochrome. As long as it works I plan on keeping it. I’ll be anxious to see you do a video on your new Leica. Thanks for sharing and great images also.
Yeah, M8 is an amazing camera for sure and I'm sad that I had to sell it, but I had no choice, I really wanted a Leica M240! Of course I have a video about it too! If you go to my older videos you'll find it!

Too bad you lost your M8, but I'm glad you picked up a film Leica! I also have a Leica M3 since 2020 and really love it. What model is you film Leica?

the jpgs are fine if you nail the exposure

I never use Iso I keep mine at iso 100 always you shouldn't use it that much the photo's become grainy
Right, when I had the camera, most of the times I kept it at iso 160. I used high iso for emergency only and converted it to BW
