Perhaps you should consider a porch to cover the front door. ??? Maybe make a small entrance room, a mud room.! Considering all you’ve achieved that is not beyond achieving now is it.?? Anyway a porch would help tremendously and allow easier accessibility with your arms full of mushrooms and shopping? Considering all you’ve done a bit more milling is not unthinkable! Perhaps the weather will be kind but you know you can do it now ! Hugs from U.K. xx
Just found your channel, went back and watch some previous videos your abilities to talk to the camera is astonishing! I like that you don’t use any annoying background music! Great job on your builds!
Ryan, you're a wonderful storyteller. It's impressive how smoothly your videos flow from each episode to the next. I don't know if you write, but if you did, the book would be amazing.
The first thing I do when I wake up Saturdays. Just love watching your endeavours unfold. So happy you’ll have a choice now. Tent or warm cozy cabin. You’re so entertaining
For someone who says that you don't really know how to build stuff, you could have fooled me cause you do a really good job.😊 👌👍. I just wish you could put out videos more than once a week. You're quite hilarious & entertaining. Stay safe out there & God bless you. Keep up the great job and keep those videos coming. I look forward to them every week.👍👍
Hi Ryan: Your everlasting enthusiasm and industry, growing your one-person village, is keeping a lot of us oldies alive! One suggestion for your new Cabin, to keep your floor completely dry, a roofed Mud Room entry over the steps! OZBRIQ, Bob 85 in our W.A. = Australia.
Nice! Hated when the video was over. Impressed as always. Thanks for letting me come along on your adventure! I love that you love the cold weather. Too cold for this ole Florida girl.
You should be very proud of your craftsmanship on your new cabin it’s beautiful I can’t wait to see it all done cozy and warm and maybe a dog living in it with you you need a dog brother you can’t be accused of talking to yourself when you have a dog
Typically to set/install the front door, the interior wall covering (drywall, T&G planks or ur rough sawn planks) is usually in place. Then u align the interior door jamb with that finished wall. Then the outer jamb/trim is set with the outer wall covering/brick mold trim. That’s how it’s usually with conventional construction/Door setting. But ur style is more magnificent than any old “conventional wisdom”. Love the channel. I’m building out a 16x40 Pre-made shell in East Texas. I know, I’m a looser. No guts, no glory like the Ringwormer! 😊
Wow FANTASTIC build but dang have to wait for the next video to see the door installed and temporary steps LOL Great Job for sure. Love the wood as well. God's blessings.
I was recommended this channel and gave it a shot because it was some outdoors, cabin building, etc. I haven't commented until now after watching many videos as it was on the tv. I love so much about your channel and it is an inspiration to to get out and build and tackle things on your own. Cut and and make lumber. And although maybe your story was told early on (I'll have to go back to early days), I love the idea and in time will likely go live off grid. My father built a robust cabin that would just need a few more creature comforts but the rest like showers etc can be done like you have done. Most of all I love when I come across a person who appears to be more like the person I am working to be. Thank you for the videos.
Couple of suggestions.. Although your siding looking awesome, maybe in the future only route the top and sides. This would provide a ledge to shelter the board below from the rain or moisture running down the side. Maybe build a porch or airlock on front of the new cabin to help protect your entrance. Also great job, love it.
Heartfelt post for a swell guy. You're absolutely inspiring! No kidding, you're living my dream. I'll be on your tail soon, in a different way (more expensive) but you have convinced me to dig my heals in. I had my knees replaced a year ago and can't do the physical part you do, so buying a band saw mill. I'm not only looking to build my camp(s) but make the mill pay for itself. That'll be future vids on my channel of course. Speaking of vids...your "just do it" attitude/vid has also inspired me. I do a lot of day to day stuff that may seem mundane but practical to a lot of folks, and look forward to producing vids 1/2 as good as yours with 1/10th the content. Hopefully I'll get 4 or 5 followers. I'm not in this for the money, but more to document my life for those after me. Fantastic job man. Binge watched every video over 10 days...yea that's a lot of watching.
Greetings from Tehachapi CA, I truly appreciate your Vlogs. Keep them coming, I watch weekly. You've been inspirational these past two years (Pandemic) 😷😕😉🤗😇 Best Regards, TTFN, Cheers
Building is coming along Great. Maybe you can add a small front porch or overhang to the cabin Ryan. This would Help you keep the weather off the front door and steps. If you make a porch you could have a place to set and watch the world go by !
Hey Ryan, been following for sometime now. Even went and watched your old vid’s. Your place has come along way since the beginning. Enjoy your projects, weird humor, especially with Tito. Great nonsensical content. 🤣
I’ve been a carpenter since high school. I’m old n 55 now still hammering. I think your work is truly amazing. Appreciate the dream you are living. Hope to live that same lifestyle soon. On the mushroom subject. Are there any birch trees up there producing the Chaga mushroom (Inonotus Obliquus ) super medicinal. Reduces inflammation etc. Thanks for sharing with us.
I love what you've done and now you won't need to be cold anymore and you can sit and watch nature in comfort 😊 Thank you very much for sharing this latest episode of how to build a cabin by way of creative means 😊
Wow! Glad I stayed up! New subscriber about 2 weeks ago, and loving the channel! I LOVE the mountains. I live in northern Utah and live on the foothills of the mountains. Totally get why you like nature so much! Edit: The blue on the wood is actually a fungus staining the wood (microbiologist, immunologist and virologist here)
so this is like the 3rd time ive watched this twice on my tv . cant comment there so i watched again lol . man looks beautiful . you know when you pointed out the door way and worry of mud and stuff if you made a small porch mud room that would solve the problem . just a small room to take off boots and out side wet gear . before you come in the cabin . and it would look nice im sure . would be a little more work but thats what you do . but it sure looks nice with all the siding up and windows in great door cant beat the steel doors . great job buddy .
I’ve been enjoying the build and really like the look closed in. One thought regarding insulating the floor. Have you considered putting insulation under the existing floor. You appear to have enough room to get underneath. Then you would have a more solid finished floor once you put it directly on top of the subfloor, and you wouldn’t need to raise the door and header. Anyway, keep it keep’n on!
I just saw an ad for teak wall treatment with strips of wood I think you could do with all those tiny strips of wood you have trimmed off. Like a feature wall inside. Wow
If you're going to insulate *above* your subfloor, I'd recommend what I call waffle framing. If you use 1-1/2" thick foam slab insulation (polystyrene = R6; blue foam board = R7.5 (25% better) you can cut your foam slab into three pieces 16" wide and have zero waste. Run your first layer of 2x2s perpendicular to your floor joists and have something solid to nail into. Lay the foam slabs *and* added 2x2s at the same time so you don't have to stuff the insulation in later. Once the first layer is down, run the 2nd layer perpendicular to the first layer and your only energy nosebleeds (solid wood is only R1 per inch) will be that little square where the 2x2s touch the first layer. This makes a much warmer floor (with potential of R12 to R15) and your flooring can be attached to the top layer of 2x2s. :)
I love your newest building.. I am really enjoying watching your building adventures on RUclips. Enjoying life as you do is a rarity in this world of ours , so plz never lose the spirit of exploration in construction.. Stay safe ..
Good morning from Cornwall England. How about a porch over the door, so that you can remove your wet gear before you enter the cabin. Thanks for another great video.
We had the same problem on one wall . Hooked up my 8000 lb winch and tried to move it but in the end we decided we could live with the bubble just touching the line. Cabins looking great.
As always awesome job. Soon you will be living in a wonderful cabin. I too can,t wait to see you finish the inside. Take care my friend a nd be well. Will be watching for more of your talents to take shape!! Bob Bitchin!!
Idea for your water freezing problem: Get yourself some copper coil and hose that can handle heat. Cut 2-3 holes in the top of one of your water totes for a hot water in & return line, and maybe one for melted water extraction. Install some copper line/coil or some high temp pex inside the tote and reseal it. Build a fire (you got scraps dontcha?) and place the copper coil over the fire. Use a pump either manual or electric to inject the near boiling water into the tote, melting the ice. Then refill your buckets with said meltwater. Perform this procedure 2-3 times in winter and you should be able to avoid water shortages. I know It's possible to rig this up so the heated water naturally circulates but I don't know how. The other option is to break up enough rocks to install a cistern under the frost line. Maybe that would be more manageable than drilling a well? You could be a miner with a pickax and dynamite. I guess you could also clean out the metal water trough and fill it just before winter, building a fire under it to refill your shower buckets a couple months in.
Great build. Now about that door way . Have you considered linoleum , just at the entrance way. You sure have an imagination. Your narration and explanation , is fun to listen to.. keep up the good work . Stay safe.

Awning over the door would be a nice touch
Covered deck!
He said I don’t have anybody to play with but at least I would win 😂😂😂
I understand that ‘playing with yourself’ can lead to Blindness (or was that Hairy Palms).

Love to see a porch and deck on front so you can sit and shoot stuff. Anyway awesome job.
The first thing I do when I wake up Saturdays. Just love watching your endeavours unfold. So happy you’ll have a choice now. Tent or warm cozy cabin. You’re so entertaining
This cabin might be a true life saver. You need a place in case of emergency.
It looks neat anyway!
i can never get enough of the worm. The Worm is spice, The Worm is Life.
We NEVER GET ENOUGH RINGWORM!! NEEEEEVVER! LOL loving the cabin build buddy.
You are so entertaining! You make my Saturday mornings so enjoyable.
I appreciate his use of PPE while working alone and isolated.
For someone who says that you don't really know how to build stuff, you could have fooled me cause you do a really good job.😊 👌👍. I just wish you could put out videos more than once a week. Morning coffee and Ringworm.... sounds good to me! If you ever need a cup, swing on by southern Ontario! ;)
You could use some of your roofs to collect rain-/snow water. A wood gutter costs next to nothing.
No-one really uses gutters here in the UP. They'd just get ripped down the first time a few feet of snow comes sliding off.
Great job! Makes my Saturday mornings start off right.
How about a little landing where you could clean your wet muddy boots up outside. Maybe a cute little farmers porch.
Just commenting to help the RUclips stats. 54.8K subscribers, growing by 1K+ a week. 👍 Thanks for the video Ryan !
I just love your channel. So refreshing to see how "commen sense" (so lackng today) is used to solve problems.
I love watching you amuse yourself. Has it occurred to you, that you seem really happy. That is pretty great watch. Thank you.
Oh yah I like the way you put the wood siding on a little bit wonky, anyone can build with uniform lumber but takes a artist to build like this.
I saw you on TV today. Nice work. Congratulations. You are living your dream
Well Rayn it's coming along nice cannot wait for the next video be happy be safe and take care of yourself
I think the slightly askew siding on the front wall is perfect. It looks great! Make it up as you go.
You should be very proud of your craftsmanship on your new cabin it’s beautiful I can’t wait to see it all done cozy and warm and maybe a dog living in it with you you need a dog brother you can’t be accused of talking to yourself when you have a dog
Looks fantastic! The front looks very whimsical with the opposing angles 🚀

God given talent
Wow FANTASTIC build but dang have to wait for the next video to see the door installed and temporary steps LOL Great Job for sure. Love the wood as well. God's blessings.
You don't need to vent anywhere but into your attic space on your gable ends.
Looks great, keep up the good work!

And maybe a deck...
A screen porch or a four season porch with a wood stove.
Chalk the vinyl windows then nail in with roof nails.
Woohoo! Well done Ryan. See you next weekend.
Goodmorning from alabama. Always glad to be here. Love the chainsaw mill work.
Looks great. The front turned out better than I pictured.
Looking good buddy 😎👍👍🇨🇦 can’t wait to see what you do to the inside
Homemade gang rip saw would be a fine addition to The Worm.
Great job, Ryan. Really enjoy watching you figure things out. always look forward to your videos. Greetings from the Arrowhead.

So happy for you. You got it done before the heavy snow comes. You are going to enjoy this cabin so much!!!

Great job of installing windows by yourself!
Like your videos
Like the Hellraiser movie with all those nails sticking out.
That cabin is BEAUTIMUS!

Hello from the Netherlands.

That siding is freaking awesome..also maybe tongue and Grove the floor planks would hold up better maybe
Love the front of the cabin. You are doing an amazing job on your tiny cabin. Pat yourself on the back.
I love your newest building.. I am really enjoying watching your building adventures on RUclips. Enjoying life as you do is a rarity in this world of ours , so plz never lose the spirit of exploration in construction.. Stay safe ..
The routing of the boards looks fantastic. Really professional looking. Love it.
Agree... that really makes a difference. 😃
Looks Great! And You make Me Laugh! Thank You❤
Great job Ryan.
this looks like one of your most productive weeks at Ringworm !!! till the snow comes LOL
Love that bevelled edge you routed on your siding.
Great looking cabin its going to great for U in the winter time.
Good morning from Cornwall England. How about a porch over the door, so that you can remove your wet gear before you enter the cabin. Thanks for another great video.
It’s looking fab , can,t wait to see what you do with the inside
Your cabin is turning out so nice.your a great carpenter. Nice job
Looks awesome love the illusion on the window
We had the same problem on one wall . Hooked up my 8000 lb winch and tried to move it but in the end we decided we could live with the bubble just touching the line. Cabins looking great.

Very good work it looks very nice you have done a very good job so keep up the good work I can’t wait until it’s done and you get inside God bless
There are many views on how to cut and staple house wrap around windows. What you did is one of the (many) standard ways of doing it.
You're doing a wonderful job I could never do that job
It’s exciting to see it coming together. You are blessed.
Great build. Now about that door way . Have you considered linoleum , just at the entrance way. You sure have an imagination. Your narration and explanation , is fun to listen to.. keep up the good work . Stay safe.
Yes, indeed Ryan it sure does look amazing!
Hey man...great build ! You can insulate from the bottom, between the floor joists. Then you can just sand your floor. Just a suggestion.
Brad
You should put a covered porch on the front of the cabin, it will be somewhere you can take work boots off before going into the cabin. 🤔😊
It's coming out beautiful great job stay safe
While not wood, I suggest that you use tile on the floor at the door. Waterproof and just a small amount would be cheap at the restore people.
The answer is a screen porch breezeway like my Granny's in Walloon for boots, shovels, and leftover galumpkis.
Please consider adding wiring if you haven't yet, I think you'll really enjoy having a few outlets before you insulate.
Congrats! Another great video…I mean interesting video…mmm, I mean that along with another entertaining visit to the Ringworm! 😎👍
That router work on the siding looks amazing
It's amazing! I'm so excited for you.
Good morning thank you for the video
omg. that editing episode was one sweet composition of sawing!
Home is looking great. Almost ready for a dog.🎉
