By the time you see this, you'll be done, but measure the width at the back of the cabin, find the center of that measurement and mark the center on the floor, repeat this at the front of the cabin. Then do that on the front to back on each side, then chalk line those marks, your lines will be square on the floor despite the walls not being square! Always looking for your videos on Sunday morning!

I am sure that Steve is a very successful guy, but I will also say that he is very lucky to be with you. Keep being you and please continue sharing content. Thanks!
I love your work and your work ethic. Your place is so peaceful I know you really enjoy it there. My heart still hurts for you for your loss of Clyde. He was beautiful. I've been through it and know how much it hurts. Hugs.
You showed us that picture of Clyde and I broke out in some tears. I'm tearing up just commenting on it. I love animals and you take such good care of yours. God bless you.
Hi Michele, the reclaimed wood flooring looks fantastic, i would love to sit on the deck at the cabin, stars twinkling in the dark sky and drinking a few beers with a dog by my side, that will be enough for me
When I was 15, I became a hodcarrier for my uncle, and he told me a hodcarrier must know how to use any tool as a bottle opener, likewise, you must be able to negotiate food by. Very inventive means, in all construction work...! You're great, building that floor you know quite a bit..
That floor looks amazing!!! It looks like it has always been there, like what you would expect to see if you found a cool cabin in the woods! That flooring was meant to be in the cliff cabin! A little tip, use a piece of scrap flooring and a multitool and you will cut under things perfectly for the flooring to slide under. Love it!
Cut a scrap piece of wood just a bit longer than the gap, then wedge it in and pound down to force the board in place. Cut a variety of scrap lengths that can be used separately or combined to deal with different gaps. Cutting one leg at a time under the stove was genius. Nice!
Using the wood stove - get a good bed of coals from soft woods, the load it tight with hardwood, and shut it down. It might smolder loneger than 2 hours.
Michelle, I think every minute we've watched you work on that cabin has been a joy. So when you start talking about three years just looking at an unfinished floor it's hard to imagine its been that long. I've worried plenty about you getting hurt out there so a broken finger seems acceptable compared to the kinds of injuries I've imagined. wishing you a great week. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Loooove the flooring! PERFECT look for Cliff cabin. It was very nice watching this video. When I first started watching your channel, you were just starting the pirs/stilts on which to frame the cabin. Great memories.
I’ve smashed my fingers in exactly the same fashion more than once and lost an index finger installing a floor. Installed many floors and knee pads are #1 priority. Your vintage used flooring looks phenomenal!❤😊
I've seen you try to make very difficult small cuts with various types of saw except the one that works like no other, a oscillating flush cutting saw. You can do plunge and flush cuts that can only be done with a oscillating saw. As a retired flooring guy it's the most handy cutting tool I've ever used. If I could find a woman like you I would consider remarrying. Love your stuff.
I used to use a jig saw for all my smaller cuts, but small cuts close to an edge doesn't give you much material to use as a base while cutting, and cutting anything out of the center takes drilling a hole/s first, so while I initially bought a oscillating flush cut saw while installing flooring, to flush cut some material off the bottom of door jambs, have found a whole lot of other uses for one, and is my go to now, especially with being able to plunge cut with one very easily. I've often thought Michelle could use one, especially when she is trying to remove material, of something already installed, to custom fit another piece of wood into a tight area. Ditto on the remarrying thought!
Just an fyi after thought. Mine is a Porter Cable, electric, but there are so many brands out there, and cordless, if you don't have one and wanted to look, if you thought one might work in a lot of your projects. The blades wear fairly quick, depending on what your cutting, but aren't expensive and I bought a pack of 25 no-name, to have some extras besides the ones that comes with it. I also use mine to cut out old pieces of drywall to fit a patch, and with the smaller blade, it's very easy to follow the line, to get an exact patch fit.
Wow ! the floor is just " Wow " ! and the finger is " Outch " ;) Cutting the leg for the stove was really a smart idea Michèle. And the sunrise drone shot was perfect, Thank for the video love it...
Michy, you silly goose stop hitting yourself with a hammer, because it hurts. The floor does look good though. As for a couch either buy a sectional, or make one that can be built at the house, in sections and assembled at the cabin. There actually pretty easy to make, and even the foam can be sourced through Amazon, even the throw pillows which are much safer then throwing metal objects. And a clean job site is a happy job site. 😇👍have a good week and count your blessings, amen. 👌✌️👋🇨🇦🙏
One of your clamps can be reversed to push instead of pull. Push the grey circle on the top part to remove it so it can be flipped and put on the other end. The floor looks amazing!
Use scraps of flooring to jamb in between the stud and floor board and pry it over. There is a tool that is adjustable that makes this problem so easy. Sometimes I drive a big screwdriver into the subfloor and just winch the board over. Probably a bunch of us that would love to be there helping!
I'm a retired floor covering installer. I did that for 40 years and from what I've seen so far. Your work looks great. Looking forward to seeing the final product. Now I've been helping my brother with Standby generator systems. Enjoy life & keep smiling !!!
Good morning 🌅, bad news Steve getting scammed, I hope you’ve got it all sorted, I haven’t finished watching yet but I don’t know whether you realise that the clamps that you’re using you can reverse them so you can push them instead of clamping with them, See something going on I just tried to start a new message but couldn’t, if you get two pieces of scrap wood one with all the tongue all the groove in it so it goes into the flooring, put one against the post or the outer wall then make a pair of wedges and drive them in to each other that way you have a clamp, 💔from France
Hello Michèle, laying the floor is an important step for the comfort of your cabin. It will soon be very cozy. Good work Michèle. Have a good week Michèle 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋
Another great cabin update! Ironically, for flooring that was going to be tossed out, you couldn't buy that amazing patina. It suits your cabin perfectly. Love it.
Hey girlie you can measure from left corner to right corner then left corner to right corner with an X in the middle of your room and that's how you can get the middle and then you can start your wood from The Middle
Michelle: Douglas from Ontario here again. That floor you put in the cliff cabin looks absolutely stunning. Gorgeous rustic look. And I love the fact that you rescued that would from someone's burn pile! I find myself doing the same thing from time to time, and have the same problem throwing things out when I really want to keep them. I guess I got that from my dad, he lived through the Great depression, and those folks never threw anything out if it could possibly be used in the future. If you ever decide to put that up for B&B please PM me.. I am dying to get back to BC, I spent 6 months in Castlegar 15 years ago, and almost bought a house there. Fantastic work I absolutely love your little cabin on the cliff. My condolences to you and Steve on your loss of Clyde 😔 he had the greatest hound dog howl I have ever heard❤ Hope your finger heals well and quickly. Pablo Picasso has a pencil drawing at MOMA I love. Five intersecting lines makes your mind work in negative space. At once you see a cabin with smoke coming out of a chimney from a cabin tucked into a wooded mountain side. When you look close it’s just five lines. The drone view of your project makes me see his work and I smile, great minds think and act along the same lines!

Tell Steve hey for us, hug the fur babies.. from SE Texas Bear ❤💯🙏 thanks for sharing your "adventures" with us we love em :)
If you went diagonal, you wouldn't have to worry about squaring the lumber. Your neighbor across the lake was waving frantically, wanting his pier back. LOL Doesn't get old. Ha Ha What a beautiful rustic looking floor.
Agree. Another point is with slider clamps the ratchet can be turned around to spread things er oh... But they don't handle compression as well as tension.. no innuendo intended..
You can change the direction of the floor by ripping down a piece of wood to fit into the groove, thereby creating a tongue on both sides. You can then lay the flooring in two directions.
Good tip, helps you get out of a bind. Or, just turn it around and go groove to groove, no cutting...but maybe a field/face nail or two for good measure
Thanks for showing us the picture of Clyde. I miss him too. You can take the handle end of the clamp off the bar and turn it around to use it to push against things instead of pulling them together. I bought a couple extra just for doing that and they can stay set up like that. I noticed one of the boards going from the end of one board to the wall was so tight you had to hammer it into place. You need to leave a gap at the ends to compensate for expansion or the floor could buckle. Love all your work. Floor looks amazing. I love and admire the way you always find uses for what would be scrap. I try to do the same. Saves time and money. I look forward to your woodworking shop build. Take care and don't work too hard. (Sorry about your finger). MEMENTO VIVERE.
I remember seeing a Maine Cabin Masters episode. He nailed down a scrap of wood aways away from the warped board, then put a wedge shaped scrap between them and drove the wedge between the two until the gap was filled.
I love that you repurposed the wood for the floor. Anybody can open a package of new and use it. It takes extra care and a sharp mind to reuse/repurpose. Plus, the look in the end is better than new would have given you. Love the vids! Thanks for taking the time to make our Sundays that much better!
Pipe clamps are the most suitable clamps for the flooring job. I made a bunch of them. Bought the clamps and some old fashion plumbing pipes and a Ratchet Pipe Threader Kit. Voilá!
Great job with the floor. It really did turn out so beautifully. Thought you were nuts when you said you would cut one leg at a time. But per usual, you surprised me again with your resourcefulness, determination, and creativity. You're a rock star. 😎❤

Healing thoughts for the finger... -- great job on the floor, that was not easy. And I may have said it before but waking up with the loft view is golden. - cheers
Oh yes...! Another Smiley Sunday. Michelle, I want you to know I appreciate how much effort you put into these recordings. The amount of time you put into moving the camera to get the shots so they look like the camera is "following" you is excellent. And those drone shot....! Good ol' Clifford is looking soooo good. I was gob smacked by the view you have from the loft. To be able to lie there at night and see the stars in all their glory is just the most special thing. I can see how you would fall in love with Clifford over and over. You have created a wonderful little piece of paradise there. That floor came out great.
As for your flooring adventure, Scribing works great for a good tight fit in all applications. A Router helps but not needed. Finding center of the floor is your first point to tackle. Easy Peasy. Love your energy. Best Wishes.

I can see how you would fall in love with Clifford over and over. You have created a wonderful little piece of paradise there. That floor came out great.
❤❤❤
The best thing about your first aid kit is the vodka mini bottle! 🍸 ❤😂 Floor is coming out beautifully! Awesome job once again! On a roll baby! 💗
😝
As for your flooring adventure, Scribing works great for a good tight fit in all applications. A Router helps but not needed. Finding center of the floor is your first point to tackle. Easy Peasy. Love your energy. Best Wishes.
The floor looks so fantastic and its nice seeing your beautiful smile 😃
