Im sure hes has. but uh, his process. it would be a pain in the ass to build with a mix of green and dry wood, if he ran out of dry. i hear he doesnt like building roofs. or planning. anyway, i feel that his process is what gives him unique value on youtube. the established best practices are done by EVERY BestPracticesYouTUBER. he is teaching, or not teaching, just being dumb, dont try to learn anything here- what can be done without thinking about it, and no planning. anyway, thats pretty much quotes from him.
I know you didn't ask for requests but..........French Cleat a shelf or two please...so I can see how to...I'm smilin'! Great Channel! Thanks for the entertainment.
35:54 It's so hard not to tell you what that thickness planer tool has magnets for, but when you figure it out, you'll certainly appreciate it greatly. Thanks for the Saturday morning cartoons for adults! I appreciate them every week!
I think it looks very nice and you did a very excellent job and I would color the house it may be small but it’s a house and I’m sure you’ll do some more little changes but I have enjoyed watching you do it so keep up the good work God bless
Good morning Ryan. I have the same planer the magnets on the tool are for changing cutting knives !! Good troubleshooting on the jam up. Have a great week !!
I always hesitate to share any suggestions/ideas. Because Ryan does what he wants! LOL. But I did have a thought. Maybe you could cover the bed hinge with a strip of canvas to prevent any sharp edges from puncturing your air mattresses.
That foil bubble wrap will work much better if you make sure to leave a few inches of air gap between the foil and the floorboards, it won't do much if you put it tight the boards.
We had about 30 kids and 10 parents watch part of your post Saturday morning! We also talked about broken ribs! During our wilderness survival class at the Fargo Air Museum
Thanks for sharing, yet another day with ringworm! Really enjoy your ability to talk to your audience as you talk your thoughts out it really feels like I’m a part of the build !
To get rid of paint/varnish smells..cut an onion in half and leave it in the room/s which are smelly. 12-24 hours later the smell should be gone ;) I used this trick to rapidly soak up gloss smells when I was a decorator. Hope this helps :D
You are THE most creative RUclipsr ever!! Talking to your camera (us) reminds me of Tom Hanks talking to his "Wilson". I hope for all of us you never get bored. Thanks!!
Bafin boots are the BEST, I've been wearing them for 30-40 years now and I've never found a better pack boot for doing Winter chores, ice fishing and hunting !! Well La cross boots rock too, but cost an arm and a leg. Ryann, how about doing a "snow snake" court , It's a prehistoric game played by the Mohawks and early Canadians and settlers in this country, that way you won't need a perfectly plumb & level surface,,, and we all know how much you stress out over plumb and level right ,,LOL!!
OMG, the ratchet straps!! That is so northern Wisconsin!! It must have crept over the border to the UP, unless you all invented it and it crept over here. Anyway, I snort laughed way too loud to be called a lady anymore. Thanks for the laugh!!
Heavy plastic layer first for water proofing, then tarp to protect plastic. Build a shed to protect your milled lumber and save time digging it out. Build racks under your house to store them.
Have you ever thought of building a shed, to store all the lumber you make your projects out of? Even a lean-to to keep the elements off it. Enjoy watching you build. 🙋🏻♀️🇨🇦
Ryan aren't we going to be taken the boards on off of the wall to plane them and stain them ??? What happen to that ??? I like that shelves but we got to watch what we do with the insulation now !!! Love the video and I am holding the shelves for you & that bed is like WOW !!! Almost better than the outdoor one queen size one I Want to sleep on that one some day !!!
I don't know, you're getting too civilized, that, or I'm getting more and more jealous of you. Lol You're doing what I've dreamed of doing all my life & I am to a certain extent. Love the videos Sat mornings along with my coffee.
Hey Ryan that's nice work you did with the shelves the varnish and everything real beautiful wood I appreciate beautiful wood I used to do wood when I was in high school awesome job I'm glad you healed from your bruised ribs 👍
Cabin is coming along exactly the way you want it👍 lots of useful shelves.,Nice bed..,I’d watch a few guys that have videos out : Insulating under the cabin. You have to take into acct : squirrels, mice etc making nests and being destructive 👍B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Shelves look great. Ever think about throwing pallets under cabin and storing wood on it? Will keep most of snow off of it. Especially is you have seasonal skirting.
Fantastic job on the cabin. Everything looks great. A rain farm water catchment to deal with your water issues would be a great addition to your operation, and it would be easy to do..
magnets are to pick up the blades when you replace them Ryan. I have the same planer LOVE IT and I've got the same markings on the handle to remind me which is bed UP and DOWN 👍
Well done Ryan it looks really wonderful love the shelves not long to go now before you move in cannot wait to see the coffee table you make or side or tables will you get a sofa .Ryan can you not build a box and insulate the water tanks be happy be safe looking forwards to next week
Will you be using a board an stick some wood dowels in it for hanging coats? That would be very beautiful on the wall! Okay let’s watch an find out! Love the look of that shelf! Great job! I use that reflectics on our motorhome! Works great!
What would really work well is the insulate the bottom of the floor with either rigid foam or regular insulation and then put that bubble wrap stuff underneath as sort of a belly to keep critters out of it. That way you would have very good insulation
Good work for a guy who says he doesn't know what he's doing! Once the snow is gone I hope you get to some of the projects you talked about in the early episodes. Hint .... Fireman pole for sky deck and adult sized teeter totter!
I highly recommend Minwax Oil Modified Polyacrylic for your indoor sealing needs. I’ve used it in Commercial applications and it lasts a long time. I finished some restaurant table tops and 5 years later they looked brand new.
Hey Ryan, don’t cut the insulation, unless you’re putting up two layers. If you’re only doing one layer just staple it to the bottom of the floor joist. This type of insulation needs a air space to work best. If doing two layers, cut and tuck one tight to the subfloor from below then staple one layer on the bottom of the joist. Looking great btw
Ryan..dude , just got the diamond back side kick 22lr/22wmr single action double action, looks like the wrangler, but it's single an double action and the cylinder opens so you don't have to load 1 at time, definitely look into it if you like those style like wrangler, and has 2 cylinders one in 22lr other 22 magnum, was only 300$ also should make cabinets with doors as critters in wilderness are known to get in and create a mess of your stuff lolalso on shelf on wall next to window ,I'd cut that end shelf that butts up to window frame, I'd cut that piece into a triangle would be more visually appealing imo, I'd put mesh wire on that reflectix as well keep out critters lol
Some clamps you can undo a small slide on the end and reverse them and convert them to spreaders instead of clamps. It's literally just a plastic slide that pulls out and unlocks the heads.
Your doing a good job, things look good. Breaking the sharp edges of the wood will help prevent splintering along the edges. The only thing I might have differently is the uprights on the shelves. In my opinion I would have them so they were underneath the shelves instead of on the end. This would give them the appearance of strength. The screws you used to hold things together will be strong enough. Especially after glueing them up. It would just look better. On supporting the shelf unit to the wall, cutting the edge off a 2x piece of lumber so the rough edge of the 2x would be on the long edge of the triangle. Cut so the two shorter edges of the triangle are 2 inches wide. Use these triangle strips under the shelves against the wall, screwed into the wall and the shelves. Makes it stronger and with the rough edge on the angle will look good. Oh just had a6 thought, if you had some straight branches about 4 or 5 inches in diameter, long enough to match the length of the shelves you could cut them 8nto quarters out could use them for the supports instead of the 2x stuff.
Do you not like the water-based polycrylic? It doesn’t smell as bad, doesn’t change the color of the wood, and dries faster. Less durable, but it may give what you need.
You should consider building a small pole barn to store your wood under so you could keep your wood dry and work under when the weather is bad
Im sure hes has. but uh, his process. it would be a pain in the ass to build with a mix of green and dry wood, if he ran out of dry. i hear he doesnt like building roofs. or planning. anyway, i feel that his process is what gives him unique value on youtube. the established best practices are done by EVERY BestPracticesYouTUBER. he is teaching, or not teaching, just being dumb, dont try to learn anything here- what can be done without thinking about it, and no planning. anyway, thats pretty much quotes from him.
also, yeah, polebarn by yourself is prolly harder than you might think.
@@bmundayhe built a deck 15ft in the air …just to see if he could ???
Best way to have breakfast and coffee on Saturday morning.
I know you didn't ask for requests but..........French Cleat a shelf or two please...so I can see how to...I'm smilin'! Great Channel! Thanks for the entertainment.

Metal down i the holder hole thingie. Holds the tool during vibration
Came here to say the same thing. The magnets are great…won’t ruin the surprise!
No cleats for shelf, immediately puts every heavy thing he owns on shelf. That's confidence
"Tito sitting in the sun, thinking about his life, that can't be good" 😅😂.
Shelves look awesome.
I think it looks very nice and you did a very excellent job and I would color the house it may be small but it’s a house and I’m sure you’ll do some more little changes but I have enjoyed watching you do it so keep up the good work God bless
We all knew you couldn't help yourself.....varnish away!!!! Looks great!!!! John here, from the back-roads of northeastern Tennessee.
You had it all along! -we're just tagging along for moral support lol!
Wake up 4:30am Saturday just to watch Ringworm & Coffee! 😂

I made window coverings of that stuff for my vehicle when car camping on ski trips. It works fairly well.

What?! I wanna hear more!
Thanks for sharing, yet another day with ringworm! Really enjoy your ability to talk to your audience as you talk your thoughts out it really feels like I’m a part of the build !
You are not getting old, just different. Most of us would probably not even recognise the people we were 20 or 30 years ago.
Some people arent able to recognize others even after three to five months ^^“

Every knife that you have is so very sharp I wish you could sharpen mine I never could sharpen a knife the way you do 👍✌🏻
My son and I watch all your videos. We love the way you talk to the camera like a person 😄
Hello from the Netherlands.
thanks for the video Ryan .
Sincerely Hollandduck
Beautiful color in the woods, it POPS!
Nice met you I am from Ontario, I like your cabin it's very nice work.
Don't forget you need space for one of Sarah's paintings on one of your walls
My favorite time of the weekend. Loony Tunes on the TV while watching the progress at Surviving Ringworm ...
You are THE most creative RUclipsr ever!! Talking to your camera (us) reminds me of Tom Hanks talking to his "Wilson". I hope for all of us you never get bored. Thanks!!

I'm sure someone already mentioned it, but the magnets would be to help remove your blades when changing
Awesome channel
Ficou excelente as prateleiras pareabens, agora é so mudar para sua nova casa parabens
Just beautiful young man. Always a pleasure watching you create❤😊

One of my childhood memories was of my dad's carbide lamp when he was a coal miner. I finally found one in an antique store in KY.
Diggin the live edge theme going on Ryan. Spring is coming for ya !
Recommend "My Side of the Mountain" by Jean C George.
I'm not certain, but I believe you're the first off gridder with a compressed air duster...ever! lol. Good stuff.
I don't know, you're getting too civilized, that, or I'm getting more and more jealous of you. Lol
You're doing what I've dreamed of doing all my life & I am to a certain extent.
Love the videos Sat mornings along with my coffee.
Keep up the great content, glad you are healing up in time for spring, can't wait to see what you build this summer!
Hey Ryan that's nice work you did with the shelves the varnish and everything real beautiful wood I appreciate beautiful wood I used to do wood when I was in high school awesome job I'm glad you healed from your bruised ribs 👍
Nice job on the shelf
yes, do the insulation exactly like you said. The shelves look great. :D
Love the shelves . You did it again , created a thing of beauty .
As always, your content rocks.
It's the one thing I look forward to watching every week.
How about a drying shed as a project?
I like the projects that you do.
Looking beautiful in your cabin Look forward to seeing the ring worm show.
we always put winter tires on here in Switzerland they make a huge difference. If you dont and have an accident your insurance is invalid.
Heck yeah I could live there. Great job!!!! 👍👍👍👍😎
The shelves came out great ..
"...extra bizarro. " 👍😎🇨🇦
Quality content well done in a most relaxed entertaining way! Your videos make Saturdays that much better. I hope your ribs are healing with gusto!
The building videos are Awesome but post the shooting videos too! Love a good range day.
I'd live in the cabin. I love the way your setting it out
Looking good, looking forward to move in day! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Shelves are amazing and you make diy look like an easy thing!
Varathane ... Real good Stuff , my favorite in Watercolor paintings Varnishing.
Mornin..👋😎👍
Shelves look great. Ever think about throwing pallets under cabin and storing wood on it? Will keep most of snow off of it. Especially is you have seasonal skirting.
Really enjoy seeing your vids. I love the woodwork you do. The projects turn out very rustic and quite lovely.
Great video thank you 49:49
Totally loving the varnish, wood look.
Amazing in the U.P. snow & down here in Coldwater Michigan was almost 60° yesterday. The grass is green & it's almost time to start mowing.
Fantastic job on the cabin. Everything looks great. A rain farm water catchment to deal with your water issues would be a great addition to your operation, and it would be easy to do..
Shelves look fabulous, I like shelving like that too 👏🤩! Xxx
I would definitely live in that cabin
shelves are very cool looking!!
I have a pair of winter DC shoes they are amazing. Self cleaning treads for the snow. I love them!
It's looking really good
Can't wait for the wrap-around deck, I hope one side will have a roof, My son suggested a wood-drying shanty.
magnets are to pick up the blades when you replace them Ryan. I have the same planer LOVE IT and I've got the same markings on the handle to remind me which is bed UP and DOWN 👍
The magnet on the DeWalt multi-tool is to help remove the planer knives for sharpening/replacement.
I agree. The magnets are for changing the blades.
The magnets are for when you're performing blade replacements. You can grab and place the blades much easier with the magnets on the tool like that.
You should see if you could find a used recliner, love the progress
winter tires are such a big improvement. Then i tried studded winter tires. On ice and Snow, they are magical.
Everything looks great!!! The table, bed, and shelves look very home like. Like to varnish. Love the pattern of the work popping out. Enjoy!!!
I love watching you use your tools. I bought a Ryobi hand planer and need to use it. I feel more confident after watching you.
I highly recommend Minwax Oil Modified Polyacrylic for your indoor sealing needs. I’ve used it in Commercial applications and it lasts a long time. I finished some restaurant table tops and 5 years later they looked brand new.

What he said about air space. Two layers= two airspaces
You need some chickens to meet your egg addiction! They would have the coolest coop around!
The magnet is for removing the blades just found that out this morning worked quite well
Ryan..dude , just got the diamond back side kick 22lr/22wmr single action double action, looks like the wrangler, but it's single an double action and the cylinder opens so you don't have to load 1 at time, definitely look into it if you like those style like wrangler, and has 2 cylinders one in 22lr other 22 magnum, was only 300$ also should make cabinets with doors as critters in wilderness are known to get in and create a mess of your stuff lolalso on shelf on wall next to window ,I'd cut that end shelf that butts up to window frame, I'd cut that piece into a triangle would be more visually appealing imo, I'd put mesh wire on that reflectix as well keep out critters lol
It’s important to fake that you’re going to your job and hate it …. Because then you can stay relatable to all of us, and us to you 😂
Great job.
I was surprised that you didn't round off the corner by the window on the big shelf 😊
Some clamps you can undo a small slide on the end and reverse them and convert them to spreaders instead of clamps. It's literally just a plastic slide that pulls out and unlocks the heads.
I missed saying you take the one end off that's not the handle part and it goes on the opposite end
Holy smokes he got the reflectix! I’ve been pestering him to try it for about 2 or 3 years I think. 👍
Not all buildings can be a house, but any building you can make into your home
Your doing a good job, things look good.
Breaking the sharp edges of the wood will help prevent splintering along the edges.
The only thing I might have differently is the uprights on the shelves. In my opinion I would have them so they were underneath the shelves instead of on the end. You should count how many servings of French toast it took to varnish your shelves!
The open shelve might be perfect size for a Berkey or comparable filter. So much water run off on your structures... you would realize alot of water!
Do you not like the water-based polycrylic? It doesn’t smell as bad, doesn’t change the color of the wood, and dries faster. Less durable, but it may give what you need.
Great video👍❤️
