    This young woman's skin is absolutely stunning. I will do daily. I also have a derma roller. Will do derma roller once per week. Am 54, wear sunblock every day since I was 24, I do tretinoin and vitamin C, botox for forehead and crow's feet, and conservative use of fillers. I am told I could pass for 30's, but time isn't kind and I can tell you I have benefitted financiallyand professionally from working to appear youthful. Sad, but true. It does matter. Ageism is very real and disproportionately affects women more negatively then men.

      Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and perspective! I totally feel you-it’s unfortunate that women are held to much different standards than men.
      I personally really love beauty, makeup, and skincare and enjoy taking good care of my face and body. But I feel for the ladies who do not enjoy this. Not everyone likes these things and yet they are still subject to the same pressures to look “professional” or “put together”.
      It sounds like you’ve taken great care of your skin. ❤️

    Thank you sooo much for making this video! I bought the Omnilux mask a few months ago before I saw your video, wasn't consistent with it. Used about once or twice a week.
    I (had) fungal acne/folliculitis on my right cheek for a couple years that would not go away. I used different products to treat it but would come back.
    I also remembered I read an article about led light therapy killing fungus in a science lab experiment. Folliculitis is very tricky to treat, generally speaking.
    Because of your video, I decided to be consistent everyday using the mask in the morning. Within a week and especially the second week, my folliculitis had been healing. I no longer have it anymore.

    I did a lot of research on these and ending up going with the Omnilux. Used it everyday (20 min) for the first two months and then maintenance sessions 3-4 times a week. I have mild rosacea and other redness from occasional gluten/sugar sensitivities and I find that this mask has definitely helped minimize the redness and overall texture of my skin. I also have been using prescription Tretinoin for the past year as well and OTC retinol for 6 years, which has definitely helped with texture. Love your video! I started using an OmniLux mask about a month ago, and have seen subtle skin improvement so far.
    I also started using it on my hands, for osteoarthritis -- mine has an inflammatory effect although it's not rheumatoid arthritis. The skin over the arthritic area is red from the inflammation. I've found that after using the LED/IF mask, the redness was gone the next morning after using it the night before. The redness started to return maybe 24 hours later, but by using the mask on my hands everyday, the redness doesn't return. (I've since purchased the hand-mitt version for this purpose.) I've had that inflammatory redness for at least six years, so seeing it disappear is amazing !!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that continued use might help other autoimmune issues.

    Thank you for this upload. I am a licensed esthetician who is more than familiar with LED therapy. But I had no idea it had the potential to have cognitive benefits in addition to topical. I wonder if this actually has something to do with the technology itself, or if it is from the mental aspect of having a self care step in your routine every morning.
    On a non speculating point, it makes sense from a scientific point of view that when the leds went out on one half the results would be notably differnt between the two sides of your face. LED therapy isn't a trend or a gimic. By nature it will always provide results if at the right wavelength. There are no if ands or buts about it. It's a clinically viable and widely used treatment with basically 100% success rate in clients if used regularly. So for those skeptical, it's absolutely worth it. It's one of the few at home technologies that I would endorse. And get the at home version and bite the bullet for upfront costs.
    As estheticians we charge from $150 up to over $500 for one LED light session. You need to use this consistently to see results. One session a few times a year won't do anything. Saying it now makes me feel guilty for charging that. Yes, a device could be $500+ but you buy it once. You'd spend close to 50k a year at the low end going in for treatment everyday. Which is how you'll get the best results. Doing it at home is much more economic and ensures you'll keep up with it in the future

    Infrared heat for Hot yoga got me looking down this rabbit hole, and I do question the rigour in a lot of the research which made it hard to corelate the benefit of the red and IR light across different use scenarios. I did find the sessions extremely rejuvenating and even just the style of heat vs regular thermal hot yoga was really nice for me.

    I’ve been considering getting a red light mask :) my only concern is near infrared. Have you seen any of the research that shows near infrared can damage skin? I know far-infrared is good for us. But yeah, I’ve read a few studies about NIR which has me hesitant.
    But I’m also wondering how beneficial simple red light LED without the infrared would be if I found a mask that didn’t use NIR 😅

I know you mentioned that you try with your skin and have a routine, do you think your night time routine allows you to get good results since you pop the mask on first thing in the morning? Do you think someone without a night time routine would see results in their skin if they followed this method? I also love my LED mask, I have the Omnilux, pretty expensive, but as you said, we use them almost daily (I use mine probably 5 times a week), so the cost/use is not that huge... Like you I have very sensitive skin with rosacea and I have noticed a significant improvement in the last 3 months, my skin is so much calmer and clearer, especially after I had developed some horrible cystic breakouts (which I assume were caused by the collagen supplements I was taking), and also after spending some months in the merciless African summer. I hope I will also get to see results on some very fine lines that have appeared under my eyes (probably due to that African sun I was mentioning). I am also using the mask on my chest even though it's for the face.
    One question though, you said you use it for 20-30 minutes everyday? Apparently using it for too long could potentially be damaging - Claire Johnston on the Honest Channel has some interesting videos about this.

    Question: what are the differences in benefits between using the red light panel and the red light mask? Thank you for this great video!

    • @Dreamopticsredlightglasses
      @Dreamopticsredlightglasses 16 дней назад

      red light panels are usually more powerful and cover a greater body area, you can use them for different body areas, tend to be better for aches, sprains, although can still use for the face, check their power output as some panels you want to sit 3 feet away from otherwise too powerful for eyes if up close or wear goggles, mask led's get really close to the skin which is good though some cheap masks their led's are probably not very effective, for red light devices best go for ones which have a reputation, companies which have been around, have good websites and reviews, some of their websites have lots of information, also read reviews online, some of the cheaper products their led's are cheap and they are not very effective

      @TheScienceofSelfCare I'm happy with the Hooga in that I believe it cleared my eczema, and it gives my skin a "glow" that is hard to explain! The Hooga emits 660 nm red light and 850 nm of near infrared. The is not the peak ideal values for these, I can't remember the exact numbers, but research that first. I would rather have a panel that emits the ideal nm.

    Thank you SO much for this video!! As a scientist I love your citations :) I got a Currentbody mask over the holidays but am yet to see clear results. A couple questions:
    1) the instructions state to use on clean skin or with certain serums. Do you think using it first thing (assuming with lotion overnight) has slowed the effects?
    2) my main concern has been potential negative effects on the eyes, as I use it while doing things around the house. I have some mild retinal issues/aging eyes and wondering if you’ve seen anything in the literature re: this, when used 10 min a day.

    • @creativesolutionstoart
      @creativesolutionstoart 9 месяцев назад +1

      Red light definitely has an effect on the retina and most masks have a circular protective barrier in the eye whole area… However, there are certain applications for red light to be healing for retina disorders… There are specific ways in which to use it properly, and most of the clinical trials were for people with macular degeneration. I can’t link anything because I don’t have any specific articles, and it’s relatively new, but Google macular degeneration and red light therapy. :-)

      Re microneedling: You’re absolutely right about being ultra careful with at-home treatments like dermarolling. I have a very careful protocol I follow where everything is sanitized and I do not over-use any single roller. For me personally, dermarolling has done wonders for my skin (clarity and texture) at a fraction of the cost of a microneedling session in a clinic. But I agree it’s something to be very careful with and would advise anyone perusing the comments to do their own research and talk to some professional aestheticians. :)

      Enjoy!

    Honestly... This isn't how they were intended to be used and I'm not recommending it but I sit in front of my plant lights for the same reason. Help me manage my 2020 depression. Good luck out there everybody. 🖖

      why not...? isnt it the same thing? and if you get the same wave length of light and the same power (you can always sit in bigger distance from the lights if they are too strong)... it should be basically the same thing...?

    Does it matter which brand of mask you use? They all range from $100-600 and I’m scared to spend so much on a product that I’m not sure even works because of mixed reviews on red light therapy in general 😢 (I have acne and hyperpigmentation, I also have awful seasonal depression so I could really benefit from something like this if it actually works, I’ve already tried everything else) 😥

    • @turbocrackers2204
      @turbocrackers2204 11 месяцев назад

      I imagine the mixed reviews come from the fact that the cheap ones don't produce the right wavelength of light, but it's still red so people can't tell the difference. The expensive ones seem to universally be beneficial. I'm no expert though, that's just my theory!

    I own a powerful red light, they are stronger than the masks but not quite as convenient. I shine on my face and my thyriod for ten minutes each in the morning before getting up. I also microneedle my scalp once weekly and red light my scalp. They 100% improve my mood, and I have also used it on two injuries. A snapped UCL and a 3rd degree burn on my hand. They both healed extrenely well and fast. I think I had a large pimple on the back of my arm that took longer thsn my burn to heal.
    Like you I try with my skin, and so I cannot say that it is this helping or the other procedures and at home care that I do. As well as tretinoin. But I have faith in my red light ❤

    Thanks for the video!:) I am considering the mask but am so scared about the potential fat loss it can cause after watching The Honest channel discussions let by Claire.. But it is also really annoying because in that chanel they argue that almost any good modality for the skin cause fat loss, such as tretinoin.. Have you seen it? what is your opinion of it? I can see that your face is full, you probably did not lose any fat? may I ask you how old are you as well? since you look very youthfull and your skin looks incredible!:) thank you! ;)

      I am 31 and i have not noticed any fat loss at all. I am not sure how it would result in fat loss. Haven’t seen any studies related to that. It’s not radio frequency and it’s not delivering heat deep into the tissue. So I really don’t think you need to be worried about fat loss :)

      I don't see how red light could cause fat loss, even though I'm watching Claire's channel... The LED masks do not generate heat in the skin, which would cause the fat cells to atrophy, so maybe a defective device which was worn everyday for many hours could potentially cause some issues, but if you have a good mask and use it like it's supposed to be used, I don't see how you could have this issue.

    why do you use 20-30minutes? its says 10minutes is recommended and adding more time wont include any more benefits to the skin. be careful because the time is calculated in relation to the irradiance level of the device and too high irradiance is not beneficial to the skin, if you like long sessions you should check out the dermalux as that is recommended for 30minutes as the irradiance is lower because you lay under it as opposed to direct on the skin

      Thanks so much for your comment. This is a really great point, I initially read somewhere that it's difficult to "over do" photobiomodulation, but I'm not sure that's true. I like to meditate between 20-30 minutes when I wake up and have noticed amazing skin benefits (with no perceivable drawbacks) following this routine. But to be safe, I will now switch to ten minutes on my face and ten minutes on my neck until I have done further research. :)

      @brookekasprzyk4850 Год назад

      Doing it longer means a higher dose, and you are treating deeper into the body. I am not entirely sure if you are treating the skin at 20-30 minutes (40-60 Joules of energy). These masks are designed for around 20 joules of energy for 10 minutes, which is ideal for skin health. But honestly there is no wrong way to do red light. If you like how your skin looks and how you feel, then it is fine! There’s a lot of research on overdosing the skin cells in order to reach deeper tissue but your skin looks great so it must be working!!

    For those looking for an LED mask, I've been really happy with the Nooance Professional one I purchased. I find it to be the best in the market thus far after using Current Body and others. No, I don't work for them nor do I have anything to gain from this comment.

    Hey there! I absolutely love your videos. I'm curious about something, though. I've heard that it's best to use this product on clean skin, free from any creams or other products. So, in the mornings, do you wash your face to remove the products from your nighttime routine before using it? I'm considering adding this to my morning routine especially if it will help my overall mood, but the idea of having to wake up earlier for a full cleansing session concerns me, especially since my skin is quite sensitive and doesn't react well to too much handling.

      Thanks for your question! I usually splash a little water on my face to remove any excess skincare from the night before (but I don’t cleanse my skin with a cleanser or anything). After I do my red light session, I will apply my skincare which rehydrates and nourishes my skin.
      Random side note: I absolutely love essences (Korean ones) as a great way to hydrate my skin afterwards, so I’ll put that on as my first skincare step. :)

    Suggestion if you’re interested: take methylene blue while using red light therapy. They work synergistically and the red light helps drive the methylene blue further into your tissue for increased cell turnover and mitochondrial function.

    Hi Robin ! ! !
    I would like to ask you some things
    - Can I use the mask when meditating ?
    - Can I use the mask when wake up, and then go for a walk at the park ? or use the mask after the walk at the park ?
    - Can I use the mask after I put oil face at night ?
    - Can I use the mask if I'm under so much stress ?
    Thank you so much ! ! !

      I work for a young company called PassivaPLT that has developed a new way of delivering photobiomodulation therapy (PBMt): Through a material that converts ambient light (sunlight, etc) to specific red and IR lightwaves and can be added to creams, sunblocks etc. We're in the process of partnering to bring it to market.
      I know this sounds like a shameless plug, not my intention, but I'm excited about what we're doing.

      @@DougPassivaPLT that’s so awesome!! Love the concept.
      Completely different but it reminds me of these solar-energy greenhouses with special glass that only lets blue/green light through (which the plants mostly absorb) and captures other wavelengths to produce energy. Biotech is so cool!! 🌟

      Hey👋 so I have no way to “measure” my mood but between using a light mask and actually going into a red light sauna regularly, I’ve found that red light makes me feel bright and energized. Not sure how to explain it any better. :) I would recommend finding a gym in your area that has a red light sauna (some gyms do!) and testing it out for a few days!
      This way you can assess for yourself how it feels before investing in any red light devices. Everyone’s experience is unique. Beyond gyms, there are also specialized clinics that have red light therapy rooms. Not sure where you live but I’m certain there’s going to be some way to test it out somewhere. ❤️
