I was just reading a blog post from temptalia about Bite a couple weeks ago. She pointed out the problem wasn't necessarily the rebranding but more fulfilling everyone's expectations. People wanted the lipsticks to come back but they didn't relaunch them until two years after rebranding. They probably should have focused on that first as it was their signature product. I think the move into complexion wasn't bad, just not what people expected first, and their popular lip liners never returned. I do think they messed up what they had and mishandled the whole rebranding. It was more of failure on the business side than the products to me
That’s a really great point! If they had held onto the lip mask formula until they could perfect a vegan version before replacing it and launched the lipsticks again right away, perhaps with one of the complexion products, I think it would’ve been a completely different reception
Agreed! And the lipsticks that did come back were all matte… about two years after matte had its moment. As someone in my thirties, I prefer a more satin feel.

I 💯 agree with you. I think LVMH didn’t want to save it. I really have enjoyed Bite products but most of the ones I’ve tried I picked up at their last rebrand when their extra stock of OG products went to TJ Maxx. I understood why they were going fully vegan but I think they would have benefited from instead only releasing vegan products as their new launches instead of a full rebrand. It seemed like they were doing quite well beforehand and that they kind of lost steam from removing all of the fan favorites and, aside from the lip mask that a lot of people didn’t like, not really rereleasing a lot of their OG products. So sad that the brand's closing. A few months ago, I started trying the brand for the first time & bought the changemaker powder (medium) & daycation blush (melon mojito) because of your recommendations. I love them so much, & I wanna try more from them. I just recently checked Sephora PH & they stopped being on sale 😔 I'm just gonna wait for another sale so I can try more haha
Their original amuse bouche lipsticks we're my favorite lipstick formula in college, and I wore one of their French press lip glosses for so long. I didn't even like lip glosses all that much haha. I'm super duper gonna miss seeing the brand. They could save themselves if they just released what everyone loved from them!
I believe it is the new industry standard. These companies do this as a sales tactic. Disposable makeup. When sales start to wane, they dump that brand and create new brand! Sales go through the roof! They just keep cranking out new brands and collaborations with celebs and makeup artists to get us to buy more. Honestly, how many mascaras do we need to buy? One every 6 months or so? That's not enough for these companies. Or eyeshadow palettes and blushes? A new brand equals the potential of people buying the whole line, or at least most of it. Over and over again. Think about it....
Hey Kelly! I'm a fairly new subscriber so I've never seen you without make-up (not that it matters), but you look so beautiful and cute without it! The new hair colour really suits you too! 🌷
I never tried anything from Bite but it's still sad when brands close. Also, I'm the same way about the temptation to add shimmer even when you want an all matte look, lol.
I'm with you, I'm sad. They have some of my favorite shades for lipsticks. I do own they're foundation and powder, I already have an extra powder and just got an extra of the lips crayons. Now I want to get a backup for the foundation and try some of the other lipstick shades before they're gone. I also think of they wanted to save the company they would of. Sad to see it go, but atleast the lips labs will still be open. I also wonder if they'll move some items there too?
Never bought Bite because they are too expensive for me, but I didn’t see this coming because I hear influencers talk about them so much! Or at least I used to, right when they made the vegan switch.
Hearing this breaks my heart! I just purchased sugarcane because you talk about it so much, and I needed a cool toned pink. I am in love! So glad I got it before hearing this news. Looks like I will get more lipstick from them asap
I love their lipsticks and am so sad! Not sure of your colors but I also LOVE Sugarcane and would suggest Cava, Fig, and Praline if they’re in stock! Those are my favorites. I actually have 2 of Cava and Fig I like them so much! 😂
I saw the post. I have wanted the Changemaker foundation for so long, but I wasn't going to buy any foundations for awhile. But when I saw, I bought the foundation and a lipstick. Sad I couldn't rebuy a powder
Not really relevant to this video’s topic but I’d be interested to see an updated brush/tool faves now that you’ve switched from Sponge Person to Brush Person!
I went cruelty free recently, but I never tried bite beauty before because I don’t really shop at Sephora when I can get drugstore makeup for cheaper. I heard bite was going out of business though, so I stopped in Sephora to buy two lip products before they were gone to try them out. I got one of their normal lipsticks and a lip crayon in a bright red so I don’t think I’ll be using that up anytime soon. Their foundation looked tempting but I didn’t buy one since I wanted to get one from Pacifica instead
So crazy!! I just commented this on your last video!! I’m so happy you talked about it 😢 the upswing mascara is my holy grail I have no idea what to do without it.. So sad
I really liked Bite Beauty. Like you I didn’t mind the change to the lip mask. I LOVED the Power Matte Lip Crayons were my favorite (buying some now from the site). I too think the owners just didn’t care about the brand any more. They had a strong concept and a following, but they took away some of the best products. I have never been to the Lip Labs, I will check it out.
Honestly not that sad about this. I'd heard a lot of their products go bad really quickly because they would rather use clean marketing than put adequate preservative systems in them. I think it was particularly talked about with their lipsticks. It's always a bit sad to see brands die but I'm more concerned about their employees finding new jobs than with the loss of a brand I wasn't personally invested in.
Yes to the lack of preservatives! I bought one of their lip crayons from Sephora and it smelled funny from the moment I received it.....just tossed it the other day....waste of $20. I just thought it was so strange because I've had better experiences with $1 makeup from Shop Miss A.
I suspect that Smashbox is going to release Becca holiday collections that bring back other items as limited edition. I think that's how combined lines will start functioning-- moving back to holiday/limited edition collections actually being released in smaller quantities to try and recreate excitement in their former fans. It relives some of the pressure of over saturation while still giving them room to hype products with an existing fan base. So I wouldn't be surprised to see some of Bite Beauty's products moved to another brand.
I almost tagged you in the post on Instagram but I saw a bunch of people already had. So sad but I’m not too surprised since all of their products have been on sale recently, and their liquid blush didn’t go over super well. Edited to add: Great point about Kendo not wanting to save Bite, I didn’t think about that but it makes total sense!
I had a feeling something was up. They were on sale for way too long. I’m waiting for the Coverfx closing announcement. They aren’t sold in Ulta or Sephora anymore.
I had no idea they were closing until this video! I've only ever tried the lipsticks from the Lip Lab because it's such a fun experience to take out of towners to. Now I'm kind of tempted to try the blush, but what if I end up loving them?
I'm definitely in the group of people who feel that after Bite changed their formulas, their lipsticks haven't been as good. I used to own a couple (already tossed because they do kinda go bad fast) and purchased one in the new formula last year, but let's just say that the only reason I didn't return it is because I was too lazy to go to physical Sephora for one lipstick, lol. The new formula accentuates every single line on my lips and makes me look like I haven't moisturized them in a week. Not cute. Of course, even though I have my complaints about the reformulations (and a grudge towards them for never bringing Yucca back as a shade), it was nice to see them expanding into other products, and very sad to see them go.😢
It's sad, but I also saw it coming. not specifically with Bite, but in general. There are SO MANY makeup brands these days that there really is an oversaturation of it. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But it makes it that much harder for brands to stay afloat.
Hey,which hair color do you use?I'm a big simp for your hair it is so pretty and I really wanted to dye it in the same color you have, because Im just stunned everytime I see this color on you(could also be your beauty but your hair also plays in this haha). Would be great if you do a video on your haircare routine in the future :)
so unfortunate that they’re closing but im sure the whole reformulating to Vegan definitely hindered the formula of their most popular products which IMO were the lip mask and the lipsticks. and their customer base was not happy about it. in fact it was the inclusion of Lanolin which made the lip products so creamy and hydrating & now they’re just not the same 🤷🏽♂️
I am really sad they are shutting down too! I started using Bite during a very happy period in my life especially the amuse bouche lipstick in “Pepper”. I just recalled I have so many of their lip products some still unopened. I feel they brought it up on themselves with jumping on the vegan bandwagon(I say this as a vegetarian) and discontinuing good products. Will try to get the foundation but I am barely interested in makeup these days.
Hey Kelly, I know you don't usually buy backups, but are you considering buying any from bite? like the mascara or the sugarcane lipstick! just wondering
I think Bite had great, very good-looking and smoothly operative packaging; so in that way, I feel they approached luxury experience without the luxury price tag. While literally every Milk product I've tried has packaging that cracks within a couple of months, but my Bite stuff is solid, though and through. I'll add, I think they made a mistake dropping the Multi-stick.
Well, I didn't know it was a Kendo brand, I'm really surprised ! I also think Bite could have been saved, but the rebrand didn't go as well as they though it would. Pretty much all of their previous formulas were preferred compared to the new ones, and I feel like Bite was the King of cream products before the rebrand as well ! I don't have access to Bite so I've never tried it, so this is my opinion, watching all of this for afar.
I saw this coming like so many others have. I live their lipsticks and “lip crayons” so I have taken advantage of their sales. Their new formulas are different but not different enough for me to have a differed experience. Of course, the Changemaker Foundation is everything.
I love their plumping lip glosses but I don't have any of their other products that I can think of. I did want to try their upswing mascara but kind of pointless if they won't be putting product out anymore if that is the case.
Very interesting and informative. I am guessing Salma Hayek is holding for her husband conglomerate. My loyalty is to the Lauder group. Feeling Resilience today. Happy Wednesday. Lynn
So, bummer. What eyeliner should I try now? I loved their liquid liner. My eyes are sensitive and watery and that one held up so well, super black, and was easy to use, Ugh. Now, I have to find replacements for their lip stain, lip crayons, and lip masks, too. I’ll miss the mascara, too, but at least I have a replacement for that. Why?!?!?!? 😩 bad Monday. 😞
Wow, so surprising! Are you able to figure out what's going on with bareMinerals? They've been really quiet lately and the retailers I've gone into have shoved them in the back, even in another country, not just the US.
My daughter is going to be so sad about thr Bite beauty news. Bite is one of her favorites. The curved brush you used to apply your foundation, is that from Rare Beauty? I vaguely remember you showing it a short while ago, but can't find it now and would like to buy it.
The one without the long handle/that she puts the luminizer on with is an undone beauty brush & the brush she applies the foundation with appears to be a bk beauty brush
I think the shade you were using is called “melon mojito”. Daycation is the product name ☺️ i bought it because you recommended it so often and I also really like it
This is insane!! I just saw an ad on Instagram that they were opening a lip lab in nashville soon… sounds like they are keeping that from what trend mood said? Weird and sad :(
I’ve only tried Bite because they were on sale at Sephora. The prices were a little to high for me. I do like the foundations, and just bought backups from their website. I really enjoy the powder!
I used to have a lot of their Amuse Bouche lipsticks, but suddenly one day I started getting a rash on my lips. Even when I used the ones that I had just bought. I called their customer service, but they did nothing about it. I had to discard over 20 lip products at $26 each. I stopped buying from them after that. I’ll be honest, I was tempted about their new lipsticks though.
It’s seems like everyone is closing, especially the OG internet brands like Coastal Scents, BH Cosmetics, Makeup Geek, etc. Has anyone heard that Melt Cosmetics is closing too? I could’ve sworn I heard that, but this video has made me think I confused Melt & Bite Beauty. I’ve searched on RUclips & online & can’t find anything about Melt announcing they’re closing. Until I figure out if they’re both closing or if I just confused the two brands & Melt isn’t closing it’s going to drive me crazy.
I wonder how everyone is gonna feel about lady Gaga’s beauty brand being at Sephora next month. It was originally only on Amazon. The brand was always on sale and begging for people to get interested; I just feel like it never got an audience after it launched. Will it’s inclusion at Sephora be enough to bring it back?? Or did it fail before ever really starting
Hoping they sell their OG Agave lip mask formula to another non-vegan brand like Becca did with their hero products. I think Buxom and Jouer are next on the chopping block and Item Beauty is not long for this world (does anyone even remember they opened?)
I am really sad about Bite. The lipsticks and lip crayons have amazing staying power, although I generally wear a little something over them to combat the dryness. I recently discovered the Yaysayer Plumping Glosses and while they don't plump at all, they are beautiful! I have several different colors and just stocked up since they are going OOB. Covid has really hurt the beauty industry in general. Between masking and working from home, people just don't need that much makeup anymore. I bet I went a whole year and wore lipstick about a dozen times. Before that it was a daily staple. I can't personally speak to this, but I have seen a lot of comments from people who stopped buying from Bite when they changed their formula to be vegan.
If companies want to rebrand as vegan, they need to find replacements for ingredients that made their products so loved.. like the lip balm that had lanolin, so many people said the rebranded lip balm was not the same.. it gives people the impression that vegan products are not as good.. I also think people are wising up to the fact that clean beauty is just a marketing gimmick and if cruelty free and vegan is important to you, there are much cheaper options at the drugstore..
I know most people hated it, but I loved seeing their vegan rebrand because I only buy vegan products. It's really disappointing to see them go out of business. My first high-end beauty purchase was one of their mini lip crayon sets and I loved those to death. I've seen a lot from them I've been interested in post-rebrand but the price point was always a little much for me. I'm on a no-buy right now but might have to bend the rules a bit to pick up the products I'd been eyeing. 😬I'll be sad to see them go and I totally agree they could've saved the brand if they really wanted to.
So sad, I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from bite. The foundation and mascara are some of my favs and I love those newer soft matte lipsticks the most 😭
I heard rumors that stuff was not doing well for them for while I guess i just wanted to believe they were one of those brands that still had a silent following keeping them a float hmm
I was always waiting for Bite to relaunch the French Press lip glosses- they came out RIGHT before the rebrand and dirty chai was the most beautiful gloss I've ever owned. I'm sad now that they'll never come back, but I live near a lip lab so maybe I'll take my near-empty tube in and see if they can replicate the shade in a balm formula. I'm sad to see them go, but I really do think they just screwed it up. The pricing, along with the relaunch just went... awry. Perhaps instead of going vegan all at once, they should've gradually moved that way.
Yes! They were beautiful. I have one too and plan to do the same if I get near a lab. I think they should have the option to order their signature colors online through the lab- especially if I can pick the finish (satin or gloss)
I always wondered why the whole rebrand focused on totally new products instead of bringing back the amazing multistick and lipstick offerings! The colors they used to have were so unique, and the new ones available online were no where near as great. If you don't live near a Lip Lab, Bite never came back.
I think we’re going to see more brands closing. The market has been over saturated for a while- people are burnt out.
And interestingly enough, we get more and more celebrity brands!

I blame Kendo for taking a good brand and making awful reformulations to get on the clean beauty bandwagon. Bite was amazing as it was.
Good point!
100% agree. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of Kendo formulations-a couple of hits but a lot of major misses.
I bought 3 of the powders as backups! That’s my favorite powder!!!!
You're right about the price point. Many people are getting the cruelty free vegan experience from drug store priced brands
I was a bit surprised too!
Bite Beauty lipstick in Cava is one of my FAVORITE lip products.💄😢
I also really like the blushes.
@@wrinklessprinklesbeauty6770 thank you for that list!! I am 100% getting them!
Oh yay!! Glad I could help 😊
I'm so sad too I love their foundation and lip crayons
I saw the post. I have wanted the Changemaker foundation for so long, but I wasn't going to buy any foundations for awhile. But when I saw, I bought the foundation and a lipstick. Sad I couldn't rebuy a powder
Not really relevant to this video’s topic but I’d be interested to see an updated brush/tool faves now that you’ve switched from Sponge Person to Brush Person!
I was also going to ask for this!
So sad
I bought the change maker powder on your recommendation along with a lipstick 💄
Oh no! I love their products.
Nooo!! I love their products :( Especially the bite mascara 😭😭 my holy grail 💔
Yes the products was at 50% since last year Dec 2021 in sephora Malaysia
I really liked Bite Beauty. Like you I didn’t mind the change to the lip mask.
I LOVED the Power Matte Lip Crayons were my favorite (buying some now from the site).
I too think the owners just didn’t care about the brand any more. They had a strong concept and a following, but they took away some of the best products. I have never been to the Lip Labs, I will check it out.
I love your hair color. What products do you use to dye it?
i can't wait for the video on the rise and fall of bite if you do one!
This look turned out so beautiful!
I think it's sad to see them close, especially since I couldn't try them as they aren't sold where I live. The powder def got me intrigued
Meringue and Honeycomb are my faves. I was so sad when they DC'd them.
I had a feeling something was up. They were on sale for way too long. I’m waiting for the Coverfx closing announcement. They aren’t sold in Ulta or Sephora anymore.
I know! I recently searched for their super popular blush duos and noticed they aren’t sold at either store!
Not cute. Of course, even though I have my complaints about the reformulations (and a grudge towards them for never bringing Yucca back as a shade), it was nice to see them expanding into other products, and very sad to see them go.😢
There are so many brands closing, i am that the labs are still open. Went there yesterday to get lipsticks.
I have to buy up all their mascara - there mascara I just discovered and I love it- im devasted by this
It's sad, but I also saw it coming. not specifically with Bite, but in general.
It's all currently coming thru TJMaxx/Marshall's...just like we saw all the Becca items when they closed shop last year.
so unfortunate that they’re closing but im sure the whole reformulating to Vegan definitely hindered the formula of their most popular products which IMO were the lip mask and the lipsticks. and their customer base was not happy about it. in fact it was the inclusion of Lanolin which made the lip products so creamy and hydrating & now they’re just not the same 🤷🏽♂️
I am really sad they are shutting down too!
What self tanner do you use? Im wanting to self tan since but I feel so overwhelmed by all of the products out there
I love their plumping lip glosses but I don't have any of their other products that I can think of.
Lynn
What brush is that you used to put on that primer ? I need it!!! 🤣
I’m so sad that’s one of my favorite brands!!!
I have the same problem with notes on my phone but if I actually swipe to close the program and go back into it the notes are still there.
I’m so sad about this too! But I’m so curious about to see what the expansion of their lip labs will look like!
I won't be surprised if they go bespoke/customization friendly.
Daycation is the product name ☺️ i bought it because you recommended it so often and I also really like it
You’re right!!
Oh no, that's sad. I loved their lip masks 😢
Will you be picking up any backups of the powder or lipstick?
My shade seems to be sold out in the powder :( and I think I’m good on lipstick!
I’ve been so bummed since I heard the news yesterday 💔
I was sad when they announced BH cosmetics was going bankrupt bite is out of my price range!
Hoping they sell their OG Agave lip mask formula to another non-vegan brand like Becca did with their hero products. I think Buxom and Jouer are next on the chopping block and Item Beauty is not long for this world (does anyone even remember they opened?)
My all time favorite lip color is glaze by bite 😭😭😭
You look Beautiful. Beautiful is an independent contractor. Lynn
kinda bummed they’re closing just because i’ve heard so many great things about the mascara but maybe i’ll just get a bunch since they’re half off lol
I also think people are wising up to the fact that clean beauty is just a marketing gimmick and if cruelty free and vegan is important to you, there are much cheaper options at the drugstore..
i just got the iphone 13 pro max yesterday too lolll
I know most people hated it, but I loved seeing their vegan rebrand because I only buy vegan products. It's really disappointing to see them go out of business. My first high-end beauty purchase was one of their mini lip crayon sets and I loved those to death. I've seen a lot from them I've been interested in post-rebrand but the price point was always a little much for me. I'm on a no-buy right now but might have to bend the rules a bit to pick up the products I'd been eyeing. 😬I'll be sad to see them go and I totally agree they could've saved the brand if they really wanted to.
Love my Bite Beauty lipsticks, but I have never tried anything else from the brand 😑
So sad, I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from bite. The foundation and mascara are some of my favs and I love those newer soft matte lipsticks the most 😭
Kelly do you happen to remember what shade of the blush you used? “Daycation” is just the name of the formula lol 😅
Melon Mojito is the shade!
@@KellyGooch tysm 🥰
I am so sad about this 😭😭
