The peach hack works if they're fairly ripe. I use it to peel them when making jam. Make a cross on the bottom of the peach, boil for 1 minute then put in ice water for like 30 seconds and immediately peel. Works a charm for us.
My mom taught me an easier way how to peel garlics. Idk if you have already included this in your previous kitchen hack (the last one I watched was part 3, looks like I'm going to have a barryton tonight). The hack is simple. You need to soak your garlics in a basin/bowl of water for at least half an hour. I advise you to peel off the outer skin before soaking it, if you leave it the inside of the garlic is still dry despite it's wet on the outside. Once you already soaked them for a while, from the bottom of the garlic, you can easily peel off the skin like peeling off a banana. I hope you could give this kitchen hack a try since it helped with this mundane task
I think if you want to peel a tomato it's easier to just poach them like you did the peaches. I think also you use peeled tomatoes for ratatouille. Love the video
For the tomatoes trick: you do it like the peaches ! put them in boiling water for a bit of time, then in cold water, and bam, skinless tomatoes. Some people (like my mom) can't digest tomato skin, so this trick is useful for them !
We can fresh tomatoes every summer and peeling them is a must. Blanch them in boiling water for about a minute then pop them into cold water. The peels just slide right off.
So the process of boiling then ice water is called the Blanch and Shock method. I love watching you guys you're adorable and your love for each other shines.
I've never done the blanching of tomatoes in the microwave, but, I have done it where you cut the bottom, put them in boiling water for about 10 seconds, then into the ice bath and the skin usually just peels right off. sometimes it takes a little work.
With every egg pun he makes I can see the regret in his wife's eyes wondering where she went wrong to get to this point lol XD Love you guys - your kids are adorable.
Just had a barrathon and thoroughly enjoyed them, kitchen hacks 1 to 11 👍, you need more duet's with Mrs Barry, you both bring the fun factor into cooking.
Mate put a small cross in the green end of the tomato and drop it in a bowl of boiling water from the kettle. Then after a few minutes take it out and peal. Same with the oeech. Keep going, these a brilliant.
the orange thing is an old boy scout trick.. Mrs. Barry's turned out pretty good, but once you have the half-peel with the wick sticking up, it should sit out like that for a couple of hours to dry a bit before you put the oil in and it'll light a lot easier.
HI BARRY AND BECKY DEBBIE HERE FROM SOUTH WALES. Loving the videos. You to are a scream together, keep up the good work, you always cheer me up when I am feeling down and make me laugh. TOMATOES 1. Make cross on the skin on the underside 2 Place in boiling water for 30 to 45 seconds 3 Remove from water and place in an iced water bowl 4 Remove from water and peel the tomato
Youre a very lucky man Barry, your wife is a lovely person. Whenever you do videos with your family they always feel a lot more homey. Great content, keep it up.
absolute entertainment as always Barry, your wife is super cute, she makes all the jokes worthwhile, love the laugh....especially the "want to swap"... hilarious
Barry! You can scramble an egg by cutting the sleeve of an old long sleeve shirt and putting the egg inside in the middle. then, while holding each end and spin it ( as if you're winding up a towel for a smack! ) when you have it wound up pull your hands apart to spin it back out fast. do that over and over. more fun and faster
I love you and Mrs Barry. You make me laugh so much and you are both so funny and good together. You can see where the kids get it from ^_^ best part ever was Chloe blowing the candle out!!
"Careful kids. When you come in don't make any wind." And after 3 hours of trying to get the orange to light. "Pff". One blow and I was rolling on the floor laughing.
Oh yeah, the peach fuss! I prefer nectarines! I usually don't have much problems with texture, but eating a peach is just... I mean the big peaches you can take the skin off, but the flat ones, I wonder, do people just wash them and bite into them? I heard of the tomato hack a long time ago, but it's usually cooking them on the stove and then putting them into ice water.
I grow pineapples! From the top of your supermarket one!!! But I wait until they are way more yellowor before I cut them from the mother plant. I think it would work if they were that ripe. And you can grow them in a very warm bright room, even in the U.K . You should try it!
I did the peach hack last summer and it worked wonderfully. What I did was I scored the skin all the way around the peach, put them in boiling water for 60 seconds plunged them into an ice bath for 60 seconds and then peeled them when they were still a bit warm and the skin slides off really nicely.
A good trick to test if pineapples are ripe is to try and pluck out one of the leaves from the top. They should come out easily when the pineapple is ripe. Love the video!!
Love your hacks. My mom taught me to do the tomatoes the same way you did the peaches - that works. In South Africa we cook tomato jam, and the recipe requires it to be peeled.
I have to say, being an American watching a British family in a kitchen with a fair share of fiascos and shenanigans never fails to entertain me. Great video.
After a day of dealing with home insurance/property insurance. It’s nice to unwind with your videos. We had a heck of a storm/tornado here in Montana yesterday. Love the channel 🍻from BigSky
You can use the egg in a sieve trick to tidy up poached eggs, the bits that normally turn into Cthulhu-like tentacles in your pan go through the sieve, leaving a nice neat looking egg
Great to see Mrs. B. on the channel! :D The candle hack really works well indeed. Reeks a bit, but if you're outside and it's all you got.... Give it a got!
@@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken in the case of nectarines, yes, you are right, but cross-breeding different plants is a thing. People have been grafting since biblical times. Cross-pollination is a different method of cross-breeding. There are other ways as well.
You literally do. The same genus of plants can be bred together, just like the same genus of dog (corn has been turned from a hard stubby grain to a big juicy ear and wolves have been turned into teacup poodles. And both can be bred together. Just not with each other. Unless crispr.)
Phankitty Wouldn't pluots be considered "crossbred" then? They're plums and apricots bred together! Also, from a technical standpoint, all citrus fruits are derived from the original, ancestral citrus fruits: citron, pomelo, mandarin, papedas, and kumquats. Lemons and limes (for example) are hybrids of multiple of these, versus the tangerine which is derived from only one (a subset of mandarins). The orange is also a hybrid, derived from crossbreeding pomelos and mandarins to be in its modern form. We've been hybridizing fruits, and other plants, for a very long time with citrus plants being a very well documented category! If you like the subject its very interesting to read about!
It's past one in the morning; insomnia has, once again, come to visit. And then, the avocado gag! Cannot wait to try that one on the family later . . . .
My great grandmother taught me how to peel eggs with a spoon a loooooong time ago!! My husband thought I was nuts the first time he saw me do it. It works better with a smaller spoon. It seems to follow the curve of the egg better.
The tomatoes are like blanching them as you did with the peaches. But the reason is to make a dish with tomato dice that you don’t have the skin on. Such as salsa which tastes better with blanched tomatoes
Soooo...you could have just thrown those tomatoes (with the x) into the boiling water for 60 seconds, then put them immediately into the ice bath. The skins will start falling off almost immediately. I can attest to how well this works...I make a lot of pasta sauce every year and I don't have a mill so it makes my job a lot easier 😁
17:49 "Kids, if you're coming in here, be very careful...do not make any wind!" Then Chloe comes in and just blows it out. I was busting a gut at that one.
You should try one of the vegetable choppers with the pull handle mechanism for your kitchen gadget videos. I am disabled and thinking of getting one and I think it could help a lot of other people too!
For the tomatoes-in school(cooking class) our teacher taught us that if you make the cross at the bottom you then cover the tomato with boiling water and the dunk them in ice cold water. Like what you did with the peaches
Like this? Check out the rest of the kitchen hacks playlist to date here ruclips.net/video/jdKv_PUEL90/видео.html
I would love if you do a rerun of hacks that you might have done wrong in the past.just like noot ripe pineapple etc.
Seems to me that life-hacks should make life more convenient... so I'd say they're all fails!
Spin the egg in a pair of stockings/pantyhose to make the golden egg

“Crack the egg really badly” *cracks egg perfectly*
I laughed so hard when it took you ages to light the orange and then the little one comes in and blows it out.... Your faces said it all... Loved it
That Chloe she is cheeky.
Chloe cracks me up. Cheeky kid 🤣
Yep she is quite the cheeky one
Barry is my "Dad joke" idol. I can never get en-oeuf
Literally 😂😂
I'm genuinely impressed at how clean your kitchen ceiling and walls are after all these "kitchen hacks".
I think if you want to peel a tomato it's easier to just poach them like you did the peaches.

@@The__Creeper why, why did this make me laugh so darn much?
Good one
@@The__Creeper well I bow down to your comedic mastery.
I poach mine like he did the peaches all the time. Takes only 30 sec or 45 at the most.
You also use peeled tomatoes to make salsa . Goes good with beer !
You are right. To peel a tomato do it the same way as the peach. It works and I know this because I learned this when I was studying to be a chef.
You two never fail to make me laugh, love your videos
Miss Barry’s face is hilarious 😂😂 they are both so funny tho
"Look what I have to live with"
The lament of wives everywhere.
Lol...loved that comment.

@zamia I, infima @ true some can't digest tomato skin, but why you do it is to make real tomato sauce for pasta and pizza
@@1888BW yeah, that too !
Why go through all that trouble :S you can just get a flat grater, slice the tomato in half and grate it over a bowl and throw the skin away
You and your wife is a very funny tandem! What a hilarious segment with the orange hack (pun intended). 😂😂😂
So the process of boiling then ice water is called the Blanch and Shock method. I love watching you guys you're adorable and your love for each other shines.
if you don't like peach fuzz Barry, why not just but nectarines lol
Or just stick with older men who have real beards or shave
Thank you to whomever thought of the Linda Hamilton thing that was driving me nuts on who she looks like. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I commented on it at least once. I'm sure others did too.
I'd been thinking she looks like Linda for ages!
I think it's just the haircut with the large fringe that makes them look similar.
She looks like Penny from Lost.
@@Jamal_Tyrone I think it's her eyes, mainly.
The pineapple thing works very well if the fruit is well ripened. My husband and I love eating it this way now
I'll admit Barry, as much as I love the look of your refrigerator... I crack up every time I see the giant "SMEG" on it
Night Raven not sure where you are from but I’m in the US I didn’t know what smeg was until my husband introduced me to the tv show red dwarf.
