It's the amount of space between the teeth of the cutting blade. It catches hair very easily instead of pushing the hair and cutting it at an angle. That angle makes the follicle at a jagged cut. This is why the andis masters and the oster fast feed make for softer fades that you can lterally feel .

Brother! The fast feeds been around for ages!! OGs know. The metal blade doesn’t debunk well but the ceramic helps a lot. Fast feeds are beautiful at one thing and that is fading. It creates a different type of blur on the fade that I don’t see from wahl clippers. I think it’s because of the slower speed it doesn’t mangle the hair being cut. I wouldn’t say it’s a hidden gem, people have used these for years.

It’s a hidden gem in the sense that barbers nowadays only want speed and power from their clippers. People look at the Fastfeeds in a negative light cause they’re slower but the blend it gives out is so nice. I’ve been barbering since 2017 and visited a ton of barbershops since then and I can safely say Fastfeeds were practically non existent in most clipper lineups. I saw more Detachables than Fastfeeds and even then the Detachables were rare to see too!! People are sleeping on these clippers to this very day 😮‍💨

Great video! I've been using my fast feeds (topaz) since 2017 with the ceramic blade. ZERO issues and blurry fades. This clipper is definitely in the top 5 for fading even in this new age of cordless clippers.

Hey, I did a review on the fast feeds a few years back. I have seen the ceramic zero gap done before and the one where you actually modified the screwed attachment so that you can adjust the factory blade. I have also seen that one before, it takes a bit of an artist to get that one done. I'm not a professional barber so I haven't tried to modify my fast feeds to zero. I have other clippers that do the zero easy so just use those when I need to zero. But just wanted to say, fast feeds are my go to clippers to give the best blended fades possible. It's forgiving on hair, I love the sound it gives when cutting hair, pivot motor for dry or wet hair, and it can cut forever. Never gets too hot. I'm with you on your statement that they might be the best clipper you can customize for a long and fruitful life using them! I've had mine for years and it's just as wonderful as the day I got them! It's a workhorse of a clipper! Great review, not sure if your channel is new but keep up the videos like this one! You're doing awesome work! I'd go into a bit more technical depth showing the way you set and adjust the zero gap especially the one with the modified original blade. Possibly good for a separate video with a detailed break down. Cheers!

I appreciate the comment brother. I actually had additional footage I didn't use because I felt the video was getting too long. I really think you should modify the screws on yours and use the factory blade. Really fades nice and close like that. If your in ny roll up to the shop I'll modify your clipper for you fam. Btw! I can't wait to get the cordless fast feed!

I live in Toronto Canada but if I ever make it over to NY I'd stop by your shop just to say hello as a tourist lol! I don't own the cordless fast feeds so I'd be curious to see your thoughts once you get them and compare them to the corded ones. Does it feel the same etc. I have cordless Wahl Senoirs and I also love those. You have to be more precise with those vs. the fast feeds but has been serving me well as my cordless hair clipper and that is the one I have zero gapped. Was really easy to do as they are designed to be zero gapped with ease.

Some are noisier than others alot of that has to to with the plastic glide behind the cutter but you can glue them to reduce the noise and also lubricate the the stem that holds the pivot.
Also you can try the fine tooth cutting blade that comes with a 5 Zero blade for a finer blend.

The plate that drives the cutting blade is a straight line that presses to the stationary blade.
