    At the end of the season, I take my geraniums and put the entire plant in a paper bag to store in a cool, dry, dark place. Shake off the dirt from the roots. Replant in spring and it will come back to life. I also dig up my sweet potatoes (non edible kind) and put the root in a cool dry place over winter. Then put it in a pot near a window in late winter to start them off. Put them out side after frost. That makes for really cheap plants!

      Julie Camp that’s a great tip with the geraniums! I’ll have to try that, thank you!

      Thank you🙏 My home is decorated more for the kids, whimsical yet functional. We own a home building company, so I do a lot of the design work and decorating for the yearly model home. We used to share that here when we started the channel, but no one seemed too interested. I’ll be sharing more of that this year though, especially once we come into the holiday months. Thank you for showing interest in that side of what we do🙏❤️

    Too funny about the black cloth think about how hot it is to get under there as that sunflower covered with a black cloth felt underneath that. Would your hubby go out and work in the garden on a hot day in a black long-sleeve shirt and black pants... Think how hot blacktop gets maybe he could plant ice cubes around the bottom of it tee hee... but all jokes aside I am sure he has a lot of great ideas throughout the year because there's no way you could have that great yard and all those planter boxes if he wasn't full of good ideas! You are very lucky to have such a great guy God bless you and your family and your plants

    Hello thank you very much, I just subscribed. I am new to gardening but struggle to buy new plants as I kill a lot lol, so don't want to waste much money. I love the idea of growing seedlings and don't have a greenhouse, so I am inspired that you have done videos on how to grow seeds from your house. I am going to watch them and have a go at seeding. I live in the middle of England. So I zone in about zone 7 (we don't have this system in UK but you can Google it and it compares to US zones). I just wondered what zone you garden in please so I can compare when you talk about your garden? I am guessing I have lots more rain than you as it always rains here lol. Anyway thanks for showing you don't have to spend lots on gardening to have a beautiful garden. Have a good week, take care. Natalie Dodson 😀

  • @kathleenmurphy2379
    @kathleenmurphy2379 5 лет назад

    When did you start your flowering kale? Did you plan it when you planted your annuals like the snapdragons or did you wait until all of your annuals were out and seeded like the zinnias and then start the flowering kale. I know flowering kale last through maybe November here and I love the looks of it one year when I got them on sale but not too many people buy them around here so I can't get them for $0.50 a piece

    This is a great video, so many helpful suggestions but would be curious to know sunlight requirements of the varieties you’re reviewing, I’m guessing full sun? Also curious what zone you’re located in?

    Beautiful garden, but must say that plants in my area are pricier.

    Really love your garden, its so pretty. How did you build the ground with gravels? Do you put down sand first?

      rqi522 thank you!! We scraped out any grass/topsoil, got down to the clay soil. It’s not perfectly level, but close enough😅 then we laid weed barrier on top of the ground then put the pea gravel on top. We built the raised beds prior to putting down the pea gravel

      @@TheLawrenceGardenFarm What kind of weed barrier did you use? Garden fabric? How thick is the layer of pea gravel? Its good to know that you build the raised beds prior to putting down the pea gravel. I was wondering about that as well.

      rqi522 used a fabric, The more expensive the more the thicker and better it is. The Pea gravel is around 2-3”thick of a layer
