Santiago Devoured! This episode was such an infusion of warm Gushing Fresh Blood. Armand & Louis’ dynamic & chemistry is insane & I’m loving Claudia !

and idk if you know about devil's minion (not spoiling it if you don't, but it's probably my favourite storyline from the books) but this episode confirmed it to me that they're doing it, and I'm sure you two are going to love it too 🤭

@@kp7445 He was in this other show Hotel Portofino which I'm enjoying, it's one of those British shows which varies wildly in tone though (it's set in 1920s Italy so it's like the comical mishaps of posh people trying to run a hotel while he's with his freedom fighter boyfriend resisting facism!)

Everything about this episode is on point. The music, in the background, really adds to the emotions in each scene. I believe when Daniel experience, heavy emotions, it cracks Armand's wall in Daniel's memories, so that's why he remembers bits and peaces. Armand's wall in Daniel's mind is coming down.
Completely agree, it should be winning awards in every category! And that is super interesting but it makes sense! Can’t wait to see where it goes next!

First off, love you guys! I think when Daniel learns of Lestat being in both Armand and Louis’ life, he just found it hilarious. I don’t think he necessarily didn’t believe them. That’s why he started playing The Young and the Restless theme song, to have fun at their expense, considering he’s currently not well with Parkinson’s and having to do this interview, he’s just trying to keep his own spirits uplifted when he can, even if it comes across as snarky or downright mean. Lovely reaction as ALWAYS! 💕💕💕 y’all are amazing!

Ben Daniels, who plays Santiago, is one of my favourite all time actors. Sadly his partner/husband of 20 years passed away recently.

The inner theatre kid in me was living this episode!!!!!!
The Theatre de Vampire is really rubbing their audiences nose in it. They are holding a mirror up to humanities morbid fascination with death and apathy towards himan suffering. Vampires kill to feed, the people who go to those shows want to watch violence and death for entertainment. When Santiago has the woman pick someone out of the audience to be killed in her place, and then tells the man she picked to remember that the next time he goes to church, that humans will give you up in a second. They are holding a mirror up to the humans while they feed on them in front of them.

Weird fan theory i have: Louis liking photography could be an Easter egg to Anne's second novel The Feast of all Saints. In short, it was a historical novel about the Free People of Colour (the mixed children of plantation owners) in which one of the characters has an obsession for photography. Its not supernatural erotic horror, but its pure Rice through and through. There is a film adaptation that was made for cable back in the late 90s and worth watching if you want another flavor of Anne.
I love that book.
Theory is that Armand is really Alice and him proposing to Alice and her saying know is supposed to represent him asking Armand to change him and Armand saying no

That one scene where Louis and Armand were tag teaming Daniel I also think Armand was manipulating Louis and Daniel separately based on that flash of Amand in Daniel's mind.
Ah see I interpreted it as Louis being cruel to Daniel and Armand was actually trying to be nice and rein him in, then again I'm an Armand stan so I could just have been seeing what I wanted to see 😅

The thing is, as the books move along, Anne got bored with Louis (who in the first book paralleled her own grief) and more enamoured with lestat, so she did flesh his character out more, but the show has already diverted from that a bit (it gives more of a voice to Claudia for instance) so there's no telling how they'll adapt lestat's story, though having more insight on him and the story told from his perspective will be interesting, it won't render everything we've been told from other points of view untrue
this is the only thing which makes me a little sad. this show is more about louis, which is great and all. but i miss lestat and he's my favourite character, so i wanna see him being the protagonist
This episode makes me WANT to be a theater kid. Not THIS Theatre, ofc. But...a wholesome, *safe* theater. Y'know. XD
I literally forked over some coin to get AMC+ because I can see this show early in the day commercial free and see some bts info. It's that good. Honestly, I am so glad we are getting to see more of the theater, because I feel like the movie didn't do it justice. This was just so macabre and ironic because he's saying, to the audience there and to us the audience, we're complacent, we're sitting here watching this happen, we're doing nothing as the world is suffering, and that is true of a lot of situations.
Santiago from The Theatre of the Vampires is a fascinating character in the books. Ben Daniels as Santiago is excellent casting and he's killing it so far! I can't wait for more Lestat!

SAME. I'm drawn to people like that. I don't mean 'evil'. I just think the actors are MAGNETIC. Like i was totally glued to my screen when Santiago was giving his speeches. I like Lestat as a character too, but the reasons haven't yet been adapted.
I always feel so sorry for the woman who gets murdered on stage.

I loved this episode and the introduction of the Paris coven. But I miss Lestat as well. As hot as Armand is, it's hard for me to see Louis with anyone else. Them standing there with all that chaos around them while they're flirting was both hilarious and interesting. I mean someone was literally using a person's head like a bouncy ball lol. To me it's very telling of the true nature of their relationship...or what it might come to be.
Ben Daniels slayed that role of Santiago, but I didn't expect any less from him. He's such a talented actor and it's so sad that he lost his husband a day after the premier. 😢 I kept wondering why he wasn't in any of the press tour interviews and someone just told me why. On another note, I keep asking in other comment sections but it seems that I'm the only one wondering what happened to all of Louis' wealth that he had back in NOLA. Why are they so broke? Yes, Lestat was ridiculously wealthy but Louis wasn't poor either. So WHY were they having to resort to pickpocketing in Paris? Finally, I still stand by my opinion that Daniel is irritating...and it's a hill I'm willing to die on. If I was interviewing two vampires who I KNEW could read my mind, there's no way that I would be antagonising them like that. Anyway, another great reaction guys. Apologies for my long comment.
I think Louis and Claudia were only able to leave with what they had on them. They basically smuggled themselves on a ship full of coffins. Any wealth Louis had he probably had to leave behind.

Santiago is such a drama queen lol What a first impression. Love Daniel so much! His character just gets better & better. Chey, you are wicked smart! Daniel called they're first meeting a meat cute too. The energy for this one was so much better than depressing episode 1. I mean, it was needed but so good to see this. The look on Claudia's face was a bit over-dramatic for me but I'm gld she injoined herself.

I love what the show is doing with memory being a monster! I'm not sure if Louis is intentionally unreliable bc he actually corrected himself in the last episode and even thanked Daniel for helping him restore memories. Maybe this is how he chooses to remember things bc the reality of it all is too painful? Idk if that makes sense lol but I think that's why he still needs Daniels help to uncover the truth. Cant wait for the next reaction ❤

I think the part where Daniel sees and hears Armand while being broken down by Louis was Armand digging even deeper into his mind as Louis is reading from Daniels past. Armand is very powerful when it comes to mental manipulation. He was breaking down Daniels mental walls. Louis was reading memories from Daniels relationship with his ex wife, Armand was going even deeper into his childhood at the same time. Daniel needs to recognize who he's playing with.
I think next episode is going to show flashbacks to Lestat and Armand founding the Theatre de Vampire.
So excited to see where this Armand/Daniel plotline goes because it feels like there’s something there that we aren’t exactly privy to yet!!! And we are dying to see the founding of the theatre!!! So fun!
It was amazing to see Claudia to finally have found some happiness as Louis found some in Armand and vice versa. If I was to be a vampire for eternity, the theatre is definitely where I would be.

Just finished watching the episode. I had been dreading it. The episode where they meet Armand and the coven, but it Gave. It Gave and it Ate. I loved it!
Not sure if this was mentioned before and I missed it, or i'm reading too into it, but the woman Daniel asked to marry him (I can't remember her name right now), was she Black? It seemed like they were putting emphasis on Daniel trying to hide her, especially at the restaurant when he popped the question. That whole storyline kind of has me confused. I don't remember this woman being mentioned before this episode.
We haven't been told but there's another theory about him only feeling free to hold her hand in Paris (was it really her at all?)

I subscribed because the guy on the right makes such "see you next tuesday" (complimentary) faces.
The scene where Louis is "reading" Daniel about Alice and the pregnancy and the marriage proposal; i don't know; I felt like Armand was actually saying that through Louis. Louis seemed to have a perverse glee in talking to and torturing Daniel, that seems uncharacteristic of him. And then that quick flash of Armand doing the same thing to Daniel when he was talking about him stealing his dads Playboys.
That is a very interesting way to look at it!! Especially because we’ve never seen Louis so dark like that before but it would make sense if it’s actually Armand!

Anne Rice's best novel in the Vampire Chronicles or any other series is the Vampire Lestat (second novel after Interview) and its a huge, sweeping story. Nobody has ever tackled it on screen -- and it's by FAR the best book. I assume nobody has tackled it fully (this show touches on it very lightly) because it would be a huge project to do it right. But, dear lord, I hope so bad this show goes there!
You guys should try reading just the first chapter of The Vampire Lestat -- join mortal young Lestat in the Auvergne (the late 1700s France) as the younhest son of impoverished nobility protecting his ancestral lands from a ravening pack of wolves terrorizing his town.
You'll love it.
Correction, the novel opens in the mid 1700s.

After watching episode 2 , I realized Lestat and Armand have something in common: they both stalk Louis. Did anyone else notice how Armand's expression changes as the story is being told about how they met? When he embraces Louis's hand, he quickly looks up at Daniel and then immediately looks down at the floor, almost as if he's sad or lying.
The Alice attack on Daniel seemed out of character for Louis. Did Armand make him do this ? I was surprised Armand didn’t stop him like he did when he asked about Claudia’s assault.
I was pickpocketed on the EuroRail going from Amsterdam to France.

For me the series feels completely different from the movie.
I'm choosing Lestat's side. He was right about Claudia. She was unhappy. Convinced Louis to be unhappy with her and broke his relationship with Lestat. Then after they killed Lestat she convinced him to go to WWII Europe, where she is then unhappy with Louis.
Lestat beat Louis to a pulp and mistreated them both
I know this doesnt really follow the books, but I really enjoy the direction they have taken the story
As long as everything feels purposeful (which it definitely has so far!) then we’re definitely not opposed to the changes
Honestly the whole end part with the woman being victimized was extremely triggering for me. In the original movie with Brad Pitt she was fully naked which made it worse. Too rapey. It was weird to me that so many people enjoyed that scene. It was giving gang rape and misogyny.
It was being faithful to the book.

I think it was meant to be very uncomfortable and disturbing. I believe it's a critique on humanity and what we will turn a blind eye to. As horrific as it is I believe it's important to the story. The arc of the Theater of the Vampires is very important. I meant no disrespect.

Daniel is so annoying to me, made more so by the fact that they made him straight in this show when he's queer in the books. Santiago, however, you're perfect babe...you can do no wrong.
