No one is Going to take Rush`s crown, I was merely saying that in my opinion they were the nearest of the modern bands to play in the same genre and attempt similar levels of complexity albeit with five band members. There lies Rush`s genius, to make that music with just three people. I`ve seen both bands live many times and they are both amazing. I don't believe in rating music, its not a sport. If something makes you happy then its good.

Most of this album, "Images and Words" is gold. "Another Day" could have been a radio hit (but somehow wasn't), "Surrounded" has one of the best build ups and releases in all of music, and "Metropolis" is so good it got a whole album as its sequel. "Leaning to Live" is also great. Again, just... the whole album is gold.
And the rest of their catalogue has gems like "Hollow years," "The Glass Prison," "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" (It's 40 minutes long; you probably don't want to do that monster here), "Home," "The Count of Tuscany," "Change of Seasons," "Mirror/Lie," and about half of the rest of their discography. So much great stuff.

Jamal! Thank you!! Did you know they are Berkley trained musicians? I have followed them since they started in Long Island and have been to at least 100 club shows and every tour. They are my ❤️ band. Please do “silent man” to hear amazing lyrics and James voice. “Untethered angel” off their newest album for the latest sound and of course where they got noticed on the scene with “pull me under”. There is just so much to appreciate musically now that you have found them. PLEASE MORE! 🤗

Ahahahahaha Jamel, the guy going "ham" on the drums is Mike Portnoy, he's considered one of the best not only metal drummers, but drummers period. His idol was, shocker!!!!, Neal Peart. Dream Theater is one of the most "technical" progressive Metal bands that ever existed. Their music is sooooo good. The only down side to Dream Theater is this, if you're a talented and skilled musician, and you hear them, you may realize quickly that you're not as good as you think you are LOL 😄😄😄😄🎶🎶🎶

James' voice was unreal on every track on this performance.
On the other hand, it also showcases how he sung in a manner that wasn't sustainable for the choice and was definitely a contributing factor into the decline of his over time. I know that he's referred to a food poisoning incident having damaged his vocal cords, but I don't entirely buy that explanation.

Same, im a big fan of Labrie but that wasnt optimal at all for the touring. He couldve gone way smoother with the help of the band, but playing everything in the original Key with these long ass shows and tours, that was Never going to Go on, in a sustainable way

Probably the biggest names in prog metal after Queensryche "Hear in the Now Frontier"ed themselves. So much great stuff. You can throw darts at the Awake, Images and Words, and Six Degrees album and come up with gold almost guaranteed. "Scenes from a Memory" is a great concept album and their epics, like "Octavarium" and "Count of Tuscany" were always a musical journey.
These guys kick so many different flavors of ass.

I haven’t seen the Live In Tokyo home video in over 20 years. Brought back some great memories. This is good performance but the studio version from the Images And Words album is better. It’s just more polished. You need to checkout Take The Time or Metropolis Part 1... but do a lyric video for either. The official video for take the time is edited for time an they ruined it.

Their whole discog is at least as epic as this track, you gotta get on more DT! They also have a few really laid back songs which are interesting to juxtapose with their more heavy stuff. One I will always love is Far from Heaven, but also The Spirit Carries On is prob their most popular chill song. For Epics I suggest The Count of Tuscany and A Nightmare to Remember.
