It was great to see the King of Monsters on a huge screen with state-of-the-art Hollywood FX. But the title character has less than 9 minutes' screen time, it's too dark for details, and I'm not impressed with Angry Brian Cranston. And seriously: a soldier who's been serving in the desert for what, 18 months? And he's as pale as a Swede in winter.
But you get a Like, as always, and I'll be looking forward to your 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters,' which was breathtaking - if you ignore the humans.

Idk which order you've arranged these, but you really should watch Kong: Skull Island after this or King Of Monsters.
Maybe fit Shin Godzilla somewhere, though it's not canon in any way. It's just a good movie.
And you might enjoy just watching the full series of the original Toho Godzillas. Not because these new Godzillas don't make sense otherwise, but because it might be fun. There's 33 of them and they're kinda wild.

"This alpha predator of yours, doctor, do you really think he has a chance?"
"The arrogance of men is thinking nature is in our control and not the other way around. Let them fight."
Fun Fact: Gareth Edwards' second theatrical movie as a director.
Not A Reptile Fact: Since he has the ability to breathe with both gills and lungs Godzilla is considered more of an amphibian than a true reptile.
Literal Fall Guys Fact: The skydiving sequence was actually shot in real life by a team of professional skydive photographers, led by Norman Kent and Craig O'Brien.
In The Navy Fact: The United States Marine Corps declined to participate after their experience on the 1998 TriStar film. The United States Navy cooperated with the 2014 production.
Casting Notes Fact: Sally Hawkins joined the cast almost three weeks after filming started. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen play husband and wife. A year later they played brother and sister in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
Wrong Set Fact: While shooting this film, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey accidentally went to a lakeside set of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes (2014), which was shooting nearby and looked very similar to the set for this film. He described walking around with his light meter, not recognizing anyone, as a "surreal, dreamlike experience" until he realized his mistake.
Getting Ready Fact: The Godzilla roar was revamped for the movie. According to Gareth Edwards, sound designer Erik Aadahl improved on the original sound effect provided by Toho. Aadahl and fellow sound designer Ethan Van Der Ryn spent six months over the three-year production getting the roar right. Using microphones that could record sound inaudible to humans, the team found sounds to match the initial shriek and the finishing bellow. The new roar retains the musical key and cadence of the roar, going from a C to a D. The final version was the 50th the team produced. The pair tested the roar on a back lot at Warner Bros., using a tour speaker array for The Rolling Stones, and estimated that it could be heard 3 miles (4.83 km) away. In IMAX theatres, the roar was integrated into the sound of the "Welcome to IMAX" sequence shown before Godzilla (2014) showings.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen were so wooden throughout this movie. You think they would’ve tried harder given how stellar of an actor Bryan Cranston is. Great talent can only elevate others so much, they gotta be willing to let their ego go and actually act.

Dude, you mimicked the atomic breathe charge up Godzilla does perfectly!!!, I swear,..and yess,.it's so cool, I so love the gradual charge up, it's kinda an anticipation thing, knowing that Godzilla breathes fire, atomic breath, it's just gets you pumped up, cause you know he's about to fry somebody, I so love that sound, how they reimagined him, and gave the charge up it's own sound, aside from his roar, in the old days, he just did it, there was showing the gradual charge, his tail, and the spikes on his back lighting up, but the sound wasn't there, not like they've done it here,..the hue is about the same, but more texture, more detail,.......and you cracked me up when you said he was too rough on female MUTO, hmmpf breathing hot fire down her throat, but see that's what I like about these monsters, the way they are characterized, they're not just stupid mindless animals, when Godzilla, as Pat Benatar sang, hit the female with his best shot, and it only pushed her down, but didn't keep her down, and he saw he had to change his game plan,..the MUTOS, like him have a tough hide,..I think they all do, they all feed off radiation,..probably makes for tough skin, muscle, huh, that's why bullets, even rounds from a tank, or rocket launcher, really does little to no harm at all, and your reaction to the massive explosions they showed at the beginning of the movie,..real footage of nukes detonated, first time I saw old footage like that years ago, had the same reaction,..and aside from the terrible nukes unleashed on Nagasaki, Hiroshima,..so many, so many, and for so long decades even after those attacks were detonated, testing, and more testing, it's hard to believe, just us the U.S.alone, other countries yess too, but just the testing we did, kept testing, detonating,..there are islands that are off limits now, because of that, and I know it was to improve I guess on their design, make them more efficient, but it was just done so much, too much, it really makes you wonder, if creatures some where have been effected, that scene where Ford and his dad go back, and run into the wild dogs, (which I think in all honesty were domesticated dogs, that were just left behind by owners in the rush to evacuate), decades later after Chernobyl, it was found, that wolves were roaming around the area that was suppose to be uninhabitable, for any living thing,..and it's funny, the Godzilla 1998 movie,(not as good as other Godzilla movies, didn't like that it wasn't the traditional Godzilla, but maybe it could be looked at as him in a pre transformation, cause he has had many)that the same theme was touched on when Matthew Broderick's character, a scientist, goes to Chernobyl site, and finds earthworms, are thriving in the soil, that's supposedly irradiated,..it just makes you think, gives pause,..your doggy on the bed is such a sweetie,..at some point in the movie, he is so lovingly watching you, so sweet,..do keep going, and do keep including them in your movie witching, just love it,..Godspeed, Peace ✌, welcome to the monsterverse!!, enjoy!!

Godzilla's roar is 174 decibels in this universe. It can be heard up to 3 miles away. You have to be at least a half a mile away so it won't damage your hearing. If you're standing next to him, you could die or at the very least have permanent hearing loss and brain trauma.

3:51 - You should watch the 'bull@$#%' Godzilla. The only people who bad-talk it are the obsessive Godzilla fans. (You might have to edit the video yourself if you do.)
18:26 - 'Gojira' is the original name of the character. 'Godzilla' is the anglicization of it.
41:08 - This is the moment when the Godzilla fans go "Oooooh, YEAH!!!"
45:51 - My favorite moment of the movie. Godzilla: KING OF THE MONSTERS!!! (The Kiss of Death is a close second).

We’re down for all 40 Godzilla movies. There’s also proper jumping in the other movies. Your mouth was just wide open during Godzilla’s necessary fatality was amazing. Godzilla was around before disrespectful was created it’s just what he does.

All right you just saw a Godzilla now you need to watch Godzilla king of the monsters and then from there you need to watch Godzilla versus Kong but I think you should watch Kong skull Island next before you watch Godzilla king of the monsters

Great reaction, J! And speaking for me, myself and I we would all show up for ALL the Godzilla films if you react to them. I'd even sit through Godzilla'98 (though I'd hate to subject you to that) just to watch you tear it apart. Heck, I'd be there for other kaiju films, too. I can just imagine your reaction to War of the Gargantuas!

Also, it would be funny to watch the '98 Godzilla, which is a movie I actually like. lol.

Maybe after finished all the movie from the monsterverse, you should also watch shin Godzilla.(if you haven’t already) Just like minus one, it a Japan version of Godzilla. So interesting to see two different take of Godzilla. Which in my opinion shin Godzilla is scary.

Good reaction but King Kong will ALWAYS be better then Godzilla in my opinion. And if you are watching all these monster movies now then I honestly think you should start with the original King Kong from 1933 and work your way to these new ones. So you have a better understanding about Kong and Godzilla. Also it still blows my mind that you never seen these movies before. Not sure if you lived under a rock or grew up with no TV and cable. Lol

Alright I know it’s annoying to see dudes just typing newspaper columns in the comments but I promise im cooking. If you learn biology and processes of cellular metabolism and respiration, the Titans’ anatomy and physiology “makes sense.” And I mean that in the way that while these creatures are impossible to exist in our world, the fictional factoid elements they implement aren’t just to patch up the plot holes in the concept of giant creatures living like I thought. I think someone on the writing team actually thought this through and it’s heavily implied. They don’t breathe through their lungs, neither does Godzilla I don’t think. They breathe and eat through their skin’s contact with radioactive oxygen molecules and when there were no more of those, I think they imply Godzilla in particular evolved his gills to absorb radioactive hydrogen ions in the water. This theory of mine makes even more sense when you see which bomb test brought him to the surface: the hydrogen bomb. Whatever the EMP that the MUTO’s have, it’s not for us. It was never for us. It’s for HIM. To disable his species’ atomic breath by possibly throwing a wrench in the transport of whatever molecule Godzilla uses to generate his breath especially upon hatching would increase the rate of MUTO offspring making it to sexual maturity for reproduction an absurdly high rate. They probably spread like wildfire. I think what makes this Godzilla special from the others in his species history is this one as we see at the end of the movie is able to use his atomic breath despite being in the sphere of influence of both the two MUTO’s EMP effect. I think Godzilla literally creates his own radiation in that scene, in a form of energy production similar to how in humans we can make our own sugar for a short time if we don’t have any available to use. It would explain why the atomic breath in this film looks a lot softer than in the following films and explains why he couldn’t use it earlier in the film.

If you do watch the old Godzilla movies, skip the American version with Raymond Burr and watch the original Japanese release. The American version cut some important information and scenes to add Burr in some new scenes.
This movie was good, but I haven't liked the others that have followed. One thing about this movie though, they'd probably have been better off nuking the big MUTO in one of those valleys in the mountains. The reason being that the valley would have contained some of the blast and made it a bit more effective against the monster. Besides that, if they killed the female, the male wouldn't be much of an issue anymore.

Ta know, if they extended the fight scenes, kept Cransten alive and up the lighting a bit, this would have been the perfect godzilla movie.
