Honestly, I havent heard anything related to Team Sonic Racing since it released... No Updates to new characters/stages. My friends and I completely abandoned our copies of Team Sonic Racing. We still play CTR consistantly even on our own personal time.
Forte .exe I felt the same. STR just released and didn’t add anything to it. The online is barren and with no dlc plans there’s little reason to go back to it.
Its pretty obviously which one did better. Now excuse me I need to get back to earning some nitro points...
Do you actually have ctr
I am so hyped for ctr grandprix 8
The fact that sumo digital have no plans for dlc or even big fixes...saddens me. I truly think the game was super fun, the team mechanics was such a good idea, and where at times had issues, worked well in context of the game. Crash team racing is certainly more polished of the too, and has continued support since launch. Team sonic racing deserves so much more attention then its gotten. It's just such a shame really the state it is now, is how it will remain
I agree. Team Sonic Racing was a game with a lot of potential. If it had a decent amount of characters, a gameplay more similar to Sonic Racing Transformed and more tracks it could be the best kart racer form this generation
CTR/CNK/NF will always be the best kart racing series. SASR, SAST and TSR are all good, same with MK. I love CTR though. Im familiar with all the characters (except Baby Crash/Baby Coco who are new to NF) and there are more fan favourites being added. SASR is fun, but I always had more fun playing MKWii. I love the MK series as well, but mostly due to its crazy glitches and also the fact I grew up playing MKWii. It was my first kart racer. All 3 series are great. But CTR takes the trophy imo.
I agree with this, except with CTR being good as a series. CTR and NF are the only good crash racers. All the other Crash racers are mediocre or awful.
MK is a lot more consistent and succeful as a series, always improving from game to game.
Dont get me wrong tho, I like NF more than MK8 DX. Still like both.
Pac- Man K! Wait hang on i legit forgot Tag Team Racing existed. Lets ignore that one...
I prefer CTTR over CNK. CTR best then CTRNF, CTTR, CNK.
@@jamiep0495 agreed

CTR sold more copies than TSR ever sold in only week 1
Besides that, CTR keeps updating and adding new characters/karts/skins/tracks for free while TSR never had an update since it's release which is sad because I had high hopes for TSR
Is this video even needed we all know ctr sold better
I know right we don't need videos like these

At least they both beat Nickeldeon kart racers.

Nitro Fueled just feels less beginner friendly.
And thats why i prefer CTR Nitro Fueled.
but i didn't play Team Sonic Racing.
I would like to see an update where the grand prix tracks are somehow bundled into a cup race mode. Call it the champion's cup or something. Glad it's getting so much post launch support. The servers still need work, though.
I’ll be honest, I kinda forget about Team Sonic Racing.
It’s not even a *bad* game, CTR is just more enjoyable in virtually every way except maybe the music
I love CTR nitro fueled, I've been playing it for 3 months and I gotta say it's excellent!
I don’t own any of these games. The problem I have with crash is that my friends won’t have fun if I’m the one who knows how to powerslide and that. But in sonic it’s pretty much equal if they have played Mario kart before. Bad thing about sonic is that the lobbies are dead while crash’s lobbies are packed.
I think Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled has won! I love this game because it has lots of playable characters, lots of karts, and Spyro characters as the guest characters as the playable characters, and all of the Crash characters as playable characters, karts, decals, wheels, paint jobs, stickers, skin costumes and race tracks are all free as the DLC! Except microtransactions. Well, Wumpa Coins are not very expensive. They're cheaper to buy them. But this racing game is way much better than Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Team Sonic Racing! 🙂
Also we still haven’t see Koala Kong and Rilla Roo in 4th Grand Prix yet since we already have my favourite character Komodo Moe, N. Brio, and Nina Cortex. Koala Kong is the last of the N.Sane Trilogy character.
@@benhughes3394 I know. But they're still coming soon. Hopefully Activision and Beenox will make that decision.
I had no idea TSR sold so little compared to CTR. Jeez Sonic has gone downhill recently.
Sonic's been stuck in the 1-1.5 million sales range for a long while. When Crash came back, he zipped right past Sonic and started achieving sales closer to Odyssey and Mario Kart 8. He stole Sonic's #2 spot again just like he did back in the 90's when he actually beat Mario 64. (until Nintendo kept re-releasing it on later platforms lol)
@@LeopoldTheBrave I honestly had no idea! I thought Sonic would at least be pulling half of the mario numbers, but I guess not. Imagine how mucj a new Crash game would sell? Maybe he'd surpass mario again due to him being on multiple platforms.
Recently?
@@LeopoldTheBrave Sonic would have gotten better, had they got a Decade long break.

Abdulwahab Rajeh CTR Nitro Fueled it’s a amazing remake, Team Sonic Racing is excellent modern racing game so just get both games
People really overreacted to those microtransactions, like it was the worst thing ever in CTR Nitro-Fueled...
By the way, Team Sonic Racing looks nice. Too bad for the lack of post-launch support.
The best part is when they said Beenox was going to slash the weekend bonus and overprice everything in the Spyro GP. That was beyond hysterical. 😂
If they think that's bad, wait until they see the microtransactions system in Apex Legends and NBA 2K20.
I understand you bro... they will never see the bigger picture, in order to get more free content they still need to make money, this kind of micro transaction doesn’t damage the gameplay at all I play it everyday, no other PlayStation game has made some that before
Sega needs to advertise their games more for ppl to buy it
I fall inline with those criticisms for TSR. But I’ll admit I basically stopped playing since CTRNF released. It has far so much going for no matter how you wanna spin it if you don’t agree with the handling of the content or not favor it’s gameplay because you fail to get good it to appreciate it more! You can call me bias, you can call fanboy, or blame nostalgia, but CTRNF destroyed TSR for my experience. And it’s not like TSR did anything that much new to it’s previous games. Aside from the team mechanics. That’s all it had. But it’s not to say it can be enough enjoyment you had with the game overall. I don’t care if anyone prefers one over the other. If less content don’t impact your positive experience good for you. The war comes in when no one likes to hear the reception facts of a game they happen to like more over, but it doesn’t make you wrong for liking something more others. I love the marketing, community, and long jeopardy of a game’s run. I also respect the developers for continuing to patch, and give us extra content for CTRNF. I have yet to hear genuine proper reasons for anyone not likening CTR because it just wasn’t for them as oppose to knocking it for nostalgic, not being a Crash fan, or not understanding it’s mechanics. I’m a fan of both series, and played from both sides so I know my stuff. People wanna express hate towards micro transactions as if it ruins everything good will CTRNF does. But it’s blown out of proportion, and is optionally reasonable.
I actually like earning the rewards in CTRNK and having to pick and choose what to buy.
Ummm im stuck.
So i really like crash's controlls alot but im also a huge die heart fan of sonic.
*help me*
CTR
the online of TSR is dead as fuck now and also the roster sucks and the story mode sucks too
@@eliasnicolasmiranda4940 lol
I will say despite the addition of micro transactions, CTR is not predatory with them. I had to search for the Wumpa coin shop, hidden in a tab behind the Pit Stop menu. Also nothing is a horrid grind especially if you play on weekends where multipliers are the highest. But there’s no loot crates or in game badgering to buy coins...for now.
Woah :0
Ev'ixyn woah indeed
I really enjoy both about on the same level (though slightly leaning more towards CTR), but I can understand why many people side with CTR. TSR is very well made but it is infected with competition and an overall poor marketing campaign. It really seems like Sega and Sumo Digital didn't have much faith in it and that's sad. Meanwhile CTR is constantly receiving updates that expand the life of the game.
I will say though I was expecting someone here to side with TSR solely because of the scummy move Activision pulled recently by adding microtransactions into CTR.
It was never in doubt
More like:
Virgin Team Sonic Racing vs Chad Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled
Pretty sure CTR's the game that should have the word "virgin" attached to it, the way everyone goes on about the overrated waifu characters in that game.
Sonic is having a lot of tough years, not sure if Sonic is going "great"
Yeah i think the last sonic game that was fantastic was sonic mania
bad the hero, I agree! Let’s hope we have faith in Sonic’s next title!
Team Sonic Racing sucks because your online win and loss records do not record online. CTR: Nitro-Fueled is guilty of the same thing!
Which one is still being supported by DLC?
Exactly. Get rekt, Sonic.
I actually think crash team racing nitro fueled deserves the win
I mean
Amazing Adventure mode
Amazing characters and tracks
Amazing customization
Amazing DLC of online Grand prix events with new tracks characters and more
CTR has a huge life ahead and you can tell it definitely not over yet
Where as Team sonic racing was fun it didn't last longer
No new updates
No new free DLC or Paid DLC
Nothing event special going on
Nobody really played online
Certain modes only playable in online
Cool customization but nothing unique to them
Basically what you get is what you get and that it TSR doesn't want to make more money even tho it can do so but it just won't
“The game looks gorgeous”. that’s an opinion.
I have tsr on series x and these two on switch and mk8d
Both are great but crash team racing is the best
my interest for TSR went to none the moment i saw they ditched all other sega characters in favor of a sonic-only racing game
They knew that Sonic fans would buy the game anyways, so they cut the budget and turned it into a Sonic-only game.
What is better?
Mario kart tour
Sonic R
Crash tag team racing
CTR won. I'm surprised Mario Kart isnt memtioned.
I can see why Mario Kart is not included. It's a switch exclusive, yes the switch sells exponentially with it being the best selling switch game, it's still unfair to compare it to multi console games. Also, the two games launched this year while Mario Kart's most recent game is a Wii U port (not counting MK tour).
Mario Kart is the real competence to CTR
@@falcons0267 any mario game is Nintendo exclusive. It is not unfair that crash is on all platforms and selling more that's Nintendo fault not making mario a 3rd party character and having mario on all platforms. In your case if Sony had the balls to buy crash bandicoot off Activision mario kart have better chance to be the best kart game.

Honestly I was very surprised how great Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fuelled was. Sadly it was the opposite for Team Sonic Racing. It might be a stand alone Sonic racing game. But it had the same developer that given us Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, an fantastic racing game. Yet we ended up with a limited, repetitive racing game.

All of the major kart racers have their own strengths and weaknesses. However, while I do thoroughly enjoy both MK8D and CTR-NF, I do not heavily favor one over the other. CTR-NF is more competitive while MK8D is more casual, neither of which is a bad thing. CTR has the stronger gameplay, but is very lacking in terms of weapon balance and music, which Mario Kart has consistently managed to do very well. In the longrun, I enjoy both very much, and both are in my top kart racers of all time. And yes, I know MK8D is an enhanced port of MK8 on the Wii U, but with the additions they gave the game that the Wii U version lacked (a good battle mode for starters), it felt more like a new entry for me than just an enhanced port. I haven't played Team Sonic Racing, and when I heard it was nothing like All Stars or Transformed, it deterred me from checking it out, so I cannot give an opinion on it, but since it seems like a one and done deal now, I don't think I'm missing much, as even my friends never talked about it after the first month of it being out.
All in all, I'm fine with both CTR-NF and MK8D.
Sonic gets to lose to both Mario and Crash games.
This is a timeline I enjoy.
4:07 No, I think it can be passed up as the *vocal minority.*
People who are EXTREMELY vocal about something and are easily influenced by someone else's opinion, like, say... Jim Sterling for example?
These people THINK they're the majority because they keep speaking up and that they'll be heard... when they're not and they won't.
I grew up more with crash and the ps1 and ps4 games are my favourite so I am very biased
we stan
Am I the only one here that chooses team sonic racing over CTRNF
nope i like TSR
I love Team Sonic Racing but the content is lacking, so i sold my copy and got CTR.
No ctr
CTR NF vs Sega Transformed would be a fairer argument when it comes to gameplay and content. I'd certainly suggest a sonic style racer to kids over CTR plainly because the skill ceiling for CTR is so damn high. Being great at CTR just means that you might be able to beat Oxides ghost and therefore still have like half the games tricks and muscle skills to get used used to. And to many Oxide feels impossible. Most races feel like time trials with slight obstacles. But damn is it satisfying to play despite that. And racing transformed is just smooth. The sliding drift in transformed maybe my favourite turning in any racer I've played, though my experiences with CNK and especially CTR NF (born in 2002 leave me alone), are definitely close contenders. Overall I think Crash has the more expensive racer when it comes to what it offers. Sonic Transformed is definitely a understandable alternative. Obviously Mario Kart is tried and true so theres that. And Team Sonic Racing. Dont know. Havent played it. I assume it has the same drifting but without any cool challenges or expansive rosters mixed with the limitations to only sticking to popular and safe sonic themed courses causes zero interest from me. Sorry.
You know what. Fuck it. Want to know a skill testing racer with unique design, good character roster, fun and varied courses and more than average side content. Sonic Riders. Yeh I was probably the only one to go "that's cool" when I found out my vehicle could lose...air. But it's probably the racer I spent THE most time on, even doing a 99 lapped race with my brother once and I Trounced him. I know it's got grating music and awkward animations, but I'm gonna throw it in contention. Fuck ye
Actually I'll just list a few things. These are favourites I'm not looking at objectivity. Also I only got CTR NF like a week ago so I havent been able to connect to it that much and since I'm older now heart felt connection is going to be more difficult (Cuphead is the only thing that's achieved that recently).
Best Roster: Damn ok,objectively Mario Kart should take it. Its expansive and filled with iconography. I love that sonic racing games incorporate sega but at the same time I didn't care for any of them except Beat and Shinobi. Riders had nice crossover, but somehow my favourite characters were the Robots. Either way good but not legendary. CTRs roster is brill tho. So many favourites that I will find it impossible to choose a main at all. I tried with Tiny but theres so much here I can't. CTR NF wins.
Courses: Sega Transformed 100% for me. CTRs have made a great impression and I have my favourite from mario kart, but Transformed just sucks me in like none of the other games do.
Music: shit it's transformed again, really with extensive review I might challenge this but just thought leads me to hearing After Burner's theme and I can't look past it.
Content: You know MK:DS may have a shout here. Great mission mode and battle matches. It beats Transformed even though that has a brilliant campaigny thingy. I think the safer one is CTR simply for the sheer amounts of solid modes. But I also care about a less of a percentage of CTRs modes, I don't touch battle modes in CTR yet was all over them in MK. So I guess personally is goes to MK:DS
Gameplay: to start off with, Mario Kart is great and intuitive, but to me most of the games just work. I dont feel much. Riders is fun and fast but most of the satisfaction isn't from the feel of the game and more the objective like air management. Its between CTR and Sega racing games. CTR is punchy, Segas is smooth. CTR is tight and fast while sega is comfortable yet hasty. Sega transformed has fun with terrain (most satisfyingly than MK7), but CTR keeps you on edge with it's design. Damn. On simple thought experiment I enjoy Sega transformed the most. Its REALLY CLOSE though, but the slideyness of the karts in transformed is just awesome to me, while CTR is more impressive on a purely objective level.
That's my full rundown, thank you for not caring.

Crash hands down
Meanwhile Mario Kart sunk to the bottom
Too bad with CTR NF, to get anything from the store while having a life, you need to play multiplayer or buy coins. Since winning a race offline earns a pitiful amount of coins. While winning a race online earns a decent amount of coins, too bad there's a coin limit system for each day. So on consoles, you do have to pay more then the base price. Whether it be from micro transactions or buying a console's online service.
Im mad offline gives you damn near no coins. The most you’ll get from a single race is like 80 coins
The player base dipped dramatically for CTR. Looking at the Grand Prix high scores, way more people were playing at launch than they are now. I think the difference was like close to a million to now being a littler over 100,000. Additionally, fans have been pretty critical of how lackluster and broken online has been. I love CTR but it’s not this amazing game that doesn’t get any criticism.
I would honestly say CTR wins in the area of post launch content between Crash and Sonic and what the base games had. That is to say, Crash actually bothered to add post launch content into an already pretty big game as far as kart racers go compared to Sonic, which had not have as much comparatively to other racers on the market and was criticized for feeling like it lacked content.
I haven't played Team Sonic Racing yet, though, so I can't judge the game compared to CTR in areas where a comparison actually matters- music, graphics, gameplay... you know, the personal preference criteria where you can decide which game is more fun and which game is a personal winner. I say CTR wins in terms of content and support since it's the one I played between the two games, but there's no real winner outside what content each game has.
And honestly? You can make an honest argument CTR's huge roster means nothing if you don't care about the roster of characters from Crash's universe as much as Sonic's cast of characters. Since, realistically speaking, part of why CTR's roster is so large is because it takes from two separate Crash racing games for its roster as well as adding characters that either didn't exist in any capacity or didn't exist in the original game. Like, there's no real explanation given for any of the CNK characters, so why should I care about a weird multi color monkey, a cybernetic shark, a whistling mime or a fat, New Yorker style mime, a robot that is obsessed with cleaning, or an alien dictator? Or the talking egg, the buff bandicoot with a robot arm, or the weird cronies they made for Oxide that have like... no character even compared to everyone else I've listed that have some level of personality each?
My point being, a lot of CTR's roster can be viewed as filler compared to Sonic's roster, which feels a lot more concise and to the point, where most everyone is an established, well liked character. I say most because the Chao group and Zavok really stick out like a sore thumb, moreso the latter since I could see Omochao making a degree of sense standalone, even if it'd still be filler, but I digress. None of this changes how CTR has a lot more content than TSR, it's just an observation I wanted to make about how you can argue Sonic has the better roster. ...And the same can apply to the tracks when I think about it, since CTR having so many tracks can mean nothing if someone thinks the TSR tracks, though fewer, are better designed than CTR's tracks, but again, I digress.
What all this boils down to is there's no objective winner, even in the one area you can actually quantify with numbers, since personal preference can make people prefer TSR over CTR in any capacity.
It's obvious who won.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Nah ctr >>>> mario kart

Drifting imo looks really awkward/weird in CTR and annoying while in TSR it looks more smooth as it was in previous All Star Transformed game. This doesn't mean TSR is better but I enjoyed it more. Who cares about how many characters is in the game as many gamers will choose their favorite ones anyhow. Not like Superman and Batman became available later on as DLC. In CTR I never choose any of the ugly characters and same with TSR which don't have many. In the MCU movies, aren't most of the heroes pretty good looking and wouldn't you pick one of them as a character in a game?
In the end, play both games and enjoy them for what they are, life is short. No favorites here.
