This is a Switch comparison. Of course the ps4/xbox versions look better. I'll discuss this in my final review. This is simply a comparison of two games running on the same platform. This helps to fairly determine what the developers were able to accomplish when limited by the exact same hardware. And for the record, i always preferred Crash Team Racing, its one of my all time favorites! But these are the similarities a differences between the two when running on the Switch Correction: mario kart 8 DOES have stats for each character. These are not shown ingame clearly, but they do have different attributes. Thanks to the early viewers below who caught this!
And in CTR there are only 4 different stat combinations for characters, where you start with 2 of each unlocked meaning that from the get go all unlocks are cosmetic.

As someone who's played countless hours of MK8 since it's initial release on the Wii U, and has obsessively played CTR since he was four or five years old (and has just as obsessively played Nitro-Fueled since its release on Friday), here's my suggestion: If you want a racing game for family night where the learning curve is merely a judgement of how good you are with parabolas, then get Mario Kart. If you want a competitive game with a faster pace, higher difficulty, and bigger learning curve, but that gets funner the more you learn, then get CTR.
I agree, on switch most people get Mario Kart, XboxOne and PS4 have no good kart racers so the community will be larger (no split) also I associate Crash with PlayStation. I didn’t even know it came to switch.
Marcin Kawa when I picked up my copy of ctr there were like 20 ps4 pre orders 6 switch and 1 sad copy of Xbox ctr so I have a dealing the Xbox is even worse than switch although you also have to keep in mind a lot of people that play on switch play handheld out of their house meaning often they don’t have access to internet at all times
I am well aware that the ps4 version has a far better player count. I even had footage recorded to mention this. But i wanted this video to focus purely on the switch experience to help potential buyers on that platform decide between these two games
The CTR graphics on the other consoles are better because of the Switch's limitations, and I suspect the online scene is probably better on PS4 as well.
My guess is that: 1. Since It's a remake/remaster of a PS1 exclusive game there aren't that many Nintendo fans invested in this game/franchise, which gives the PS4 an edge on this regard 2. As a Nintendo guy myself I'd say that the online is mostly dead because of how horrendous it actually is, because I'm sure there *are* people playing the game, they just can't reach each other
Are these stats shown ingame? Ive been playing this game for so long and had no clue the characters had their own stats. I know the original SNES game had variable stats for the characters
@@Nick930 you'll have to press the +/- button at the kart customization menu to see their stats (not base stats, though, the ones you'll see already have the vehicle stats added to em)
@Alistair Ness yeah i had no clue. Been playing for years and always picked yoshi cause i liked super mario world lol. The stats are never visible in the character select screen
@@Nick930 yeeeahhh the characters in mk8dx have their own stats, heavier characters tend to have better speed while lighter characters like the baby characters have the best acceleration
I love both games, it’s really just down to if you want a more simple racing experience in Mario Kart 8, or a more difficult and skill based game in CTR
Not sure if I'd call Mario Kart 8 more simple to be honest. I think the baseline difficulty mode is lower but I think just taking a turn in CTR is much easier. I find in MK8 you have to be much more considerate about grip etc.
@@BlueAizu_ CTR is less reliant on items perhaps but it's a game where it's far easier to get way ahead because there's not as many items punishing being ahead that much. While when you're around a lot of other racers you're slowed down much more by items. CTR has a very clear difference between casual and pro play because of the boost mechanics but it's not that hard to get to that point. Unlike MK8 you also don't have to consider how slippery your kart is or whether jumping of a ramp might actually really throw you have off-course as you pretty much have full air control. Just driving through a course at 200CC requires a lot.
@@PauLtus_B its far easier to get ahead because of how massive skill gaps can get compared to mk8. as a casual player it's near impossible to win online for example where as in mk8 a casual player can win a race or two due to it being more balanced.

ctr takes more skill yes, so it depends how many months and hours you want to spend playing. i really like to be able to win online with normal drifting in corners only and no shortcuts. if you don't know the shortcuts in crash.. you lose, then those shortcuts need skill and some luck to like that door in tiger temple.. ohh i get tnt then the other a bowling bomb and can take the shortcut so that 1 makes no sense. ctr is a lot grinding. you know what really takes skill? beating me in 10 racing games, you beat me in crash and the other 9 games you lose.. so what skill do you have if you're a loser?
@WereWolfNights in the original you got forced to do ctr challenges before you could move on to the next race? i'm not somebody who enjoys playing the same over and over.. the 1st ctr i tried this time was papu papu temple.. that was before mastering jumps and shortcuts (most i still don't know) so yeah that 1st letter is high in the air and i couldn't reach it.. then the opponents just keep moving. i bet i had the n64 before the ps1 so mario kart 64, mario 64, wave race and after that played crash.. same time i bought like 10 ps1 games after hacking the console ofcourse so crash had to deal with gran turismo and mario kart and maybe even wcw nwo revenge.. so no i was not a fan of crash games at all.. same now, because i buy too much games. mortal kombat 11, team sonic, mario maker 2 at release then wwe 2k19 and god of war budget.. just added a ps3 with 28 games, yesterday real farm 2018 or something and all star fruit racing and next month? grid.. the way people win in crash to me is a joke shortcuts + boosting nonstop vs people that don't know shortcuts.. sooo lets play any other racing game where you can't do that and all of you go crying back to crash
It’s just astounding that 20 years after releasing, CTR still ables to give a fair fight to the long running Mario Cart games, and even regarded as better by some people
@@HOTD108_ I think you misunderstood me: The fact that a remake of a 20 year old game, made by a studio that probably isn't as experienced with kart game as the power-house that is Nintendo, manages to make product that gives a fair fight to the long-running Mario Kart series, is really impressive, and makes CTR (As a series, not a stand alone game) still relevent
@@HOTD108_ Having played it on PS1 it's noticeable how it hasn't changed mechanically. After having played a lot of MK8 the CTR controls feel almost janky. It feels like there's barely any physics in there as you'd expect turns to become a bit harder when you go faster, or are in the air, but it kinda doesn't. This however definitely has its appeal after you get used to it and its boost systems feel a lot more satisfying (while not really being that mechanically different). So it is worth giving credit that this gameplay still holds up. I do think it's a big disappointment the game isn't running at 60 FPS at any system. It'd be somewhat understandable if just the Switch port failed to do so but it clearly hasn't been a priority for the designers.
Multiplayer: "the online multiplayer is where mario kart takes a sizable lead" a minute later: "mario kart does a slightly better job at this" is the difference "slight" or "sizable"?
Mario Kart 8 weight stats partially tie in with the character you chose Example: Toad is very light were as Bowser is heavy. This effects the weight rating. (From what iv'e found.)
craftnut this is true and actually creates a meta in Mario kart. You’ll notice if you choose a light character and look at the stats of a vehicle things will look normal, keep the same cart but change to heavy character and the stats are different.
He mentioned this because you can change your other variables to make it so your racer has similar stats to others as long as you are smart about the options you choose, except the very extreme ends of the spectrum this is true for everyone
> This means players can choose any character that they like No, Mario Kart has hidden character values, you can look up a chart for it. Your kart, wheels, hang glider, AND character matter for your stats in Mario Kart, as opposed to CTR's just the character mattering.
I was about to mention this too. I understand why he might not think that the racer you choose affects your stats, because the game does not make it apparent that they do, but his statement was still incorrect. But it was a pretty strange design decision by Nintendo to show stats on the parts selection screen and not the character select. Older games never showed stats either, though I believe that the manuals for most Mario Kart games mentioned that lighter characters control differently than heavier ones. Unfortunately, Mario Kart 8 doesn't have a manual, so a player would never know this unless they had played previous games and assumed that the same rules apply here, or if they happened across the information online. RIP video game instruction manuals. I will miss them, especially when being forced to play through a tutorial.
They aren't entirely hidden though, and if he played the games for any length of time, he should have seen that different characters will show different stats when in the Kart selection screen. The game just doesn't tell you character stats independently. You have to look at the end result and choose your Kart to suit your choice of character.
@@systemafunk Yeah, I suppose most people who played MK8 long enough would eventually notice that the same kart parts give different stats depending on the driver, but I didn't notice this myself for a good while. I just wasn't paying that much attention at first, mainly because I kept unlocking new parts pretty regularly at the beginning. In any case, you can generally use certain parts to compensate for an attribute a driver might be lacking, so it's not a huge deal which driver you pick unless you really want to max out a particular attribute. For example, once I started trying to make my racer have as much speed as possible, I immediately noticed that lighter drivers' max speed only went so high, no matter which parts I chose. But perhaps the video author hasn't gotten that deep into the details of MK8.
@@kevinr417 It's true. You can for the most part pick the character that you want. Also, most heavier drivers have higher top speed, but worse overall stats, so most racers can perform well in most situations, especially when balanced out with the Kart. I think I noticed it early on, but I also got a little bit OCD and made a spreadsheet of all the characters and kart parts and stats so I could try and find combinations that offered max stats without sacrificing too much speed, or prioritizing certain other stats. My favorite combination in terms of feel and stats is probably Shy Guy with the Wiggler car. Can't remember what wheels though off the top of my head.
@Hipster Dinosaur Yeah, I mean that was one of the first things I checked. I remember when they changed how heavy characters worked between the original Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 to the point where there was actually no reason to use the heavier characters in 64. Ever since I have checked what they did with heavy versus light characters. I'm glad they are back to having heavy characters be faster overall, but with light characters having other benefits such as better boosts and drifting, and heavy characters having better off road speed to make up for having less acceleration. It makes either better for veteran players depending on the stage and how you want to play. Light characters are precise and great if you are good at staying on the road and using boosts all the time, but not as fast. Heavy characters don't suffer as much if you go off the track, but can get better top speed if you can keep them there. Light characters seem to be more ideal for stages with a lot of walls or drops, heavy characters for stages with lots of hazards and surface changes.
To me CTR is better because I love the driving mechanics and speed. I don't care if the game doesn't have +400 maps, or drive under the water. I want to feel a quality kart driving experience (and a more skilled one), and CTR performs better at that.
With the Grand Prix thing coming to CTR. Assuming we get 1 new track every month for at least a year, that would put CTR pretty close to the amount of tracks that MK has anyways
I see CTR it seems so really fun.. but I see CTR have a problem for beat fastest player.. in Mario Kart its have a Blue Shell and Thunder Lighting for balanced experience race and enjoy to beat all players on the next track..
MK is modeled after children's toys and play sets (hence the flat plastic textures on the characters and karts). CTR is modeled after old school western cartoons (think Loony Toons), with exaggerated cartoon violence and expressive animation.
“Mario kart lets you choose any character you’d like without sacrificing stats” the dude obviously doesn’t play mario kart. Stats are also divided into weight classes not only karts
I was pleasantly surprised by the difficulty in CTR. In mario kart, you don't need to put in too much effort, especially with recovery items. CTR requires you master the tracks and mechanics to come in first place. The computer players show no mercy. This challenge creates a much more satisfying experience.
@@maegnificant funny you say that because in CTR you don't have to think about what wheels, glider, or car body to equip because in CTR winning is skill based.
2:38 With the new update for CTR, that’s no longer the case! (Plus they add new content for CTR frequently with new characters, customizations, and tracks)
true, right now CTR has now beaten MK8's no. of characters which they were now 44 and above in CTR while MK8 stucks at 42 characters, CTR has 30 maps + 6 new maps + More and then karts from all Crash Racing games and adds more unique karts as well.
Also unusually Mario kart 8 makes the same character with diff. Costume or style as an individual racer with no customization they just put it in a character slot in the selection while in CTR each and every character has its own customization
Both are good games. It really comes down to which you personally prefer. As for me, I go with Mario Kart. But not MK8DX, Mario Kart Wii is where it’s at
"We won't talk about graphics since Mario Kart 8 is a WiiU title" *proceeds to compare shaders, textures, etc* EDIT: this is not a direct quote, it's what it sounded like to me
I've never actually fully understood Mario Kart. I was never good at it and something always felt "off". However, with CTR, everything was different. I loved that game, and I was actually good at it. Still, to this day, having both games on switch, my opinion is still the same :) Both are great games, but my heart, skills and fun is with CTR.
I just like how I finally have a good kart racing game again on playstation, haven't had that since the original CTR. Nintendo has been the only option for kart racing for so many years. And I like playing Mario Kart 8 at my sister's place, it's a luxury problem to have two great kart racers I suppose, no such thing as too many good games. And hey, competition is what pushes developers to do their best and not get lazy. Not that Mario Kart 8 deluxe is in any way lazy, it's a beautiful innovative game but I do believe the makers of CTR nitro fueled clearly have done their utmost best to be a solid alternative for Mario Kart, they put in the extra effort to really compete. And for the next Mario Kart, Nintendo might be taking note of some stuff CTR Nitro fueled is doing well.
2:45 you probably got this a lot already, since this video was released in june, but there is now engine swap in ctr so you can play whatever character with whatever stats.
All I'm saying is that I played CTR for about a week straight and then played MK8. MK8 felt SO bad to play after. The drift mechanic, the weight and speed are so much better in CTR.
In addition you can "control" the speeds that you are going. If you're able to maintain those drifts and keep your speed. You will go insanely fast. I was playing CTR on PlayStation for a while until I was able to get it on Switch. I fucking love it.
Let’s take a look at the size of the characters if theoretically the frame rate was bumped up a little in speed and graphics at this 90 degree angle. Now multiply that by the amount of bumps in each frame. But then we have to plus it by the menu select rate. And then that answer needs to be divided by the amount of loading frame data
Most your arguements are relatively reasonable, however the track advantage of Mariokart you didn't take into account timeframes and series age. MarioKart used tracks from many more games than CTR and a larger number of those tracks were DLC which you did state. CTR added almost all tracks from the only two games in the franchise prior, people do not count Tag team racing as it was not a good game, and made with a whole different style. CTR just came out, and has almost all tracks in the franchise. while mariokart had many tracks in DLC, as well as a larger list of tracks to choose from across all it's iterations. also, speaking from experience. the Zero G aspect being removed is a fantastic change in CTRNF as the physics of the Zero G in CNK were horrid. by removing that aspect of the tracks, and redesigning them, brought a much needed change to those tracks. As a CTR Veteran, the lack of the Zero Gravity was better for the game as a whole, and brought about some of the best track designs in the franchise so far. Electron Avenue for example, was a nightmare of a track in CNK. but in CTRNF it is now my favorite course by far.
Just for your informations, in CTR NF there will be grand prix featuring new maps and racers with new karts also, plus the developer had already issued about upcoming dlc after the grandprix event about new maps that inspired by cttr, i guess it wasnt over for CTR NF in terms of contents since but hey, just sayin
"Mario Kart used tracks for many more games than CTR" Dude, Crash Bandicoot only had 3 racing videogames on console, Mario has lots of Racing games. Also, CTTR had a different gameplay, the tracks on that game are practically flat compared to the tracks of CTR and CNK. However, more content will added to Nitro Fueled and they will also remade CTTR tracks in the future. It's confirmed.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has 96 tracks, because the second part was added specifically to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and the first part returned from Mario Kart 8. But also tracks for the battle mode were added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
ctr´s gameplay aged so well its not even funny. i love the gameplay just like i did in the old game. driving feels slightly different to the ps1 game tho.
Koahlah this game ages like fine wine. I stayed up til 4 AM all the time freshman year in college playing it with friends and talking about how it should be remastered. Now I play a dream come true.
CTR 1999 is the same as Super Smash Bro Melee, both series function purely on the excellent mechanics built into the games without the need of constant tweaks. The games get better as the players get better. They are both games you can pick up and play today and still have a blast, those games never go out of style.
My biggest qualm with the MK8 drift is that, from appearance, it seems you can drift infinitely if given the space. I very much appreciate CTRNF for punishing you for not being in control of your drift. Also, with the hop mechanic, I love being able to do an air brake u-turn on some of the tighter courses.
There was a Diddy Kong Racing remake for the DS made by Rare aswell while they were owned by Microsoft so it is possible but since they already remade it maybe it would be a sequel this time. Also Banjo and Conker werent in it because they are owned by Microsoft, they were replaced by Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong.
I have both on my Switch, theyre both equally fun games to play when you're in a racing mood. Mariokart is my go to for hangouts, and CTR is my alone time game to play and jump online or do local races depending on my mood. I do gotta say, i spent way more time playing CTR than in MarioKart

Not to mention that mk8 added the jukebox to balance things out even further for whoever is in first place. For those who don’t know the jukebox is capable of destroying the blue shell but it comes at the cost of not being able to protect yourself from any other projectiles (shells, bananas, fireballs, boomerangs, etc.) coming at you.
I will always prefer CTR over Mario Kart, it just feels more fun. And the shortcuts that i love about CTR is that, the shortcuts that now the Time Trial AI takes, were not Shortcuts originaly, those were discovered by Players, the Papu Papu jump at the end? the AI never took those paths, hell, 7/10 times taking that jump would instead mess you up, the Polar one jumping over the water? Also not a registered shortcut at first, but us players Made it one, and the developers acknowledged it.
I know that your comment was years ago but i want to clarify that the papupapu jump at the near end was not new. It was something i learned from oxide while fighting him on PS1. But i think you are right about the polar, since i used that to defeat him and i dont remember him using it or learning it from him.
Honestly I don't think it's fair to make a comparison to the online community on just the switch. It completely ignores social factors, like how Mario is a staple of Nintendo and his fans are there. It's like saying, "We put Zelda on the Xbox, but the community is small." Of course it would be, because regardless of his later history, Crash has always been an implicit Mascot of Sony. And those original fans are back in droves at all times of the day on PlayStation.
Doesnt really matter why. The game is available on the switch, and for people who want to buy it, they should know the current status of the online community.
@@nathanlobono5818 its marketed at everyone. None of the promotional material aside from the bare minimum exclusive playstation skins specifically suggest that the game is "best on" playstation.

No - MK8 does not require internet to progress/unlock stuff. CTR does not either. You can play offline and unlock content. It's the special stuff they added AFTER release that requires internet.
@@Nick930 thats odd, because i saw some other reviews that in CTR if you don't connect to the internet you don't get access to all the wumpa coins you earn in offline races and it will reset to zero unless connected to the internet which is a similar problem i encounter in another game like Mortal Kombat 11 and 2k battlegrounds.

oDie237 It’s not even comparable imo. CTRs music is good for what it is but the insanely over the top guitars and horns and thematically appropriate music based on each course in Mario Kart is so much better
One thing you missed is that CTR DOES have multiple different objectives in battle mode, from regular free for all battle and team battles to capture the flag and many others.
Some of the items are notably different in CTR. Here's the ones with significant changes: The missile is basically a red shell with no defense, more limited homing range, and linear tracking. It's less OP. The bomb is basically a green shell with no bank shot and worse defense and speed, but it can be detonated for easier hits. It can also be used to open item boxes... It's more newbie friendly up close but much weaker at range. The shield is closest to a triple green shell. It provides REAL defense, OR melee damage, OR a projectile (trading your defense), but disappears after a while. The juiced up version lasts forever and is a little OP. TNT crates are more interactive than fake boxes, but fairly weak. Nitro boxes are good though. The beaker is basically a banana peel. The juiced up version temporarily reduces speed/handling or reduces speed and forces an item reroll. Turbo is basically mushroom, except it's always useful due to the reserve system. Warp orb is basically blue shell, but the juiced up version hunts EVERYONE! Also, braking in 1st place isn't useful against this, encouraging the leading player to maintain their speed. Invisibility (battle exclusive) is like boo, but doesn't steal items :( Overall CTR's items are more balanced.
I used to play Mario Kart 8 alot and it's definitely more newbie friendly. When I first bought ctr I didn't know wtf I was doing. But now that I have the hang of the system and mechanics I actually finish on the podium almost every time and it feels because I actually earned it. When I went back to Mario Kart to play with a friend I was baffled how slow and floaty it is in comparison and now I just want to sell it...
My experience: CTR is boring at the beginning, because you don't know how to play and lost constantly. Then you master it and the game turn on a nice experience. However, it make the game a lot easy and you will win almost every race, what make the experience somewhat boring. Mario kart, on the other hand, initially is funny. Then you master it, what make it more funny. However, mastering it doesn't make you win every race, what make every race seems like a challenge, making the game not boring.

I've seen many possible shortcuts in CTR: NF and some are really well hidden. That and the way the boosting is handled, makes me believe that victory in CTR: NF will mostly depend on your driving skills and items are there to give you a quick advantage while in Mario Kart 8 the items a lot of the time, act as a complete game changer because everything can fall apart very quickly because of the items. I prefer racing games where victory is mostly dependent on your ability to drive and take shortcuts.
This is a Switch comparison. Of course the ps4/xbox versions look better. I'll discuss this in my final review. This is simply a comparison of two games running on the same platform. This helps to fairly determine what the developers were able to accomplish when limited by the exact same hardware.

Is there like clan wars in CTR like in mk?
I know online isn’t working perfectly but maybe the small CTR player base is because you’re playing on a Switch
On ps4 there are a lot more people playing online
Why play CTR when you already have an established kart racing game, right?
The CTR graphics on the other consoles are better because of the Switch's limitations, and I suspect the online scene is probably better on PS4 as well.
It is.
My guess is that:
1. Since It's a remake/remaster of a PS1 exclusive game there aren't that many Nintendo fans invested in this game/franchise, which gives the PS4 an edge on this regard
2. As a Nintendo guy myself I'd say that the online is mostly dead because of how horrendous it actually is, because I'm sure there *are* people playing the game, they just can't reach each other
Also because they are crap devs who made a lazy buggy Switch port. CTR is trash.

Mario Kart holds your hand the whole time. CTR take more skill.
i dont know ctr was unforgiving but this one holds your hand a little
Exactly. Those drifting requires skills. Trying to hold maximum burst, sacred fire etc etc but both games are good either way
ctr takes more skill yes, so it depends how many months and hours you want to spend playing.
i really like to be able to win online with normal drifting in corners only and no shortcuts.
if you don't know the shortcuts in crash.. you lose, then those shortcuts need skill and some luck to like that door in tiger temple.. ohh i get tnt then the other a bowling bomb and can take the shortcut so that 1 makes no sense.
ctr is a lot grinding.
you know what really takes skill? beating me in 10 racing games, you beat me in crash and the other 9 games you lose.. so what skill do you have if you're a loser?

It’s just astounding that 20 years after releasing, CTR still ables to give a fair fight to the long running Mario Cart games, and even regarded as better by some people
This is the CTR remake that released AFTER Mario Kart 8. How did you not notice that....

Mario Kart 8 weight stats partially tie in with the character you chose
Example: Toad is very light were as Bowser is heavy.
@@dirkboi6844 somehow in ctr all karts drive the same, it should have a different handling and not the characters
@@dirkboi6844 i don't know in what country they say mario cart but ok
To be honest I've never cared about stats it's always gonna be donkey kong for me
> This means players can choose any character that they like
No, Mario Kart has hidden character values, you can look up a chart for it.
Obvio es mejor CTR, mario kart es siempre mas de lo mismo

My biggest qualm with the MK8 drift is that, from appearance, it seems you can drift infinitely if given the space. Also Banjo and Conker werent in it because they are owned by Microsoft, they were replaced by Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong.
Meh
Mk8 was made by the company that made the console there for they know it better, also ctr looks better on other consoles
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Running the 90s

Really like how you dug into the details of each game... Even paying attention to the flame and explosion effects on the karts. Subbing.
I have both on my Switch, theyre both equally fun games to play when you're in a racing mood.
Mariokart is my go to for hangouts, and CTR is my alone time game to play and jump online or do local races depending on my mood.
I do gotta say, i spent way more time playing CTR than in MarioKart
Nostalgia Aside, I still Prefer CTR tho (No Hatin with Mario Kart i think Both a Great Game)
And to think CTR was made in an attempt to kill off and destroy the Crash series.
It's funny that it did the opposite and made it more popular
Wait is that actually true? They did a horrible job at making a bad game then.

You may not have Ben able to find many players in CTR online mode, but don’t forget that the game has only just been released, meaning that not many people will have it yet. I always seem to find full lobby’s when I play online.
Well there be one more player on ps4 that is getting it crash in july
Imagine, if Mario, Sonic, and Crash will have a Kart Racing collab in one game
Super Crash Bros Mania & Knuckles Kart
Wish CTR could run at 60fps :(
same!
I have a feeling it could run at 60fps but they purposely locked it at 30 to keep the gameplay as close to the original as possible.
HandyAndy true bruuuuh! Will pick this game up in the weekend I’m so in the SMM 2 for now
I think they will give it a update so in the future it will be 60fps or just make a new game and 60fps will be in it for that WoW 👏☝🏽
The drifting in Mario kart 8 deluxe makes more sense when you start playing on 200 cc.
Exactly.
Logan Olson Agreed
I see CTR it seems so really fun.. but I see CTR have a problem for beat fastest player.. in Mario Kart its have a Blue Shell and Thunder Lighting for balanced experience race and enjoy to beat all players on the next track..
Jacob Fox got it. I knew I messed up the name somehow.
Did u know that the crash trilogy sold more on Nintendo switch than the PS4 version
Agreed not only that but ctr has barely been here for 1 week
@@Nick930 I'm just arguing that you should also take into account the community for which the game is primarily marketed to as well.
@@nathanlobono5818 its marketed at everyone. None of the promotional material aside from the bare minimum exclusive playstation skins specifically suggest that the game is "best on" playstation.
On Switch...Online is fine i get 8players
I know this is a late question, does Mario Kart 8 deluxe required internet to progress and unlock stuff? I am saying this because CTR requires internet to progress.
@@darkside9547 wumpa coins are currency introduced later for post launch content. They are designed around content never initially included in CTR
@@Nick930 i see, the reason i ask about this is because i didn't wanna do another mistake like i did when i bought Mortal Kombat 11 and i havent bought CTR yet for that reason. Either way thanks.
Both games are great. I prefer Mario Kart personally though, due to the (imo) better track designs and music, and slightly better online.
You spelled ctr wrong :D
@@aosidfh your not funny
@@yoshikidplaysxd162 thanks
Ok you never heard ctr music... Bro it's amazing
oDie237 It’s not even comparable imo. CTRs music is good for what it is but the insanely over the top guitars and horns and thematically appropriate music based on each course in Mario Kart is so much better
"Dead online community" is straight up untrue
He was playing it on a switch I'm sure xbox and most of all ps4 would have much greater community
They should add crossplay
@@aosidfh sounds like a great idea
gotta update now that nintendo not only DID give us MK8DX DLC packs...they're giving us FOURTY EIGHT *MORE* tracks!
One thing you missed is that CTR DOES have multiple different objectives in battle mode, from regular free for all battle and team battles to capture the flag and many others.
Mk8 for me. CTR is awesome too tho!
MK8 is the og and feels so much better, it's perfect just like any other Nintendo game
Some of the items are notably different in CTR. Here's the ones with significant changes:
The missile is basically a red shell with no defense, more limited homing range, and linear tracking.
Invisibility (battle exclusive) is like boo, but doesn't steal items :(
Overall CTR's items are more balanced.
My experience:
CTR is boring at the beginning, because you don't know how to play and lost constantly.
Character choice matters in Mario Kart since heavier characters have more speed than acceleration and vice versa
CTR Nitro Fueled is 30 frames in PS4, PS4 PRO, XBOX ONE AND XBOX ONE X
Hopefully it will run at 60 fps on Scarlett. I'd really appreciate that.
I don't think any game can be compared to the legend that CTR is but it's nice to see the differences.
You forgot one thing on that review, and it's that ctr, it's just one game, and mario kart, had more than 20 years to evolve, so ctr got the point on that.
It took inspiration from mario kart tho, without mario kart ctr wouldn't be as good
huh? there were various crash racing existed before ctr
@@andreireirei Yeah, but not made by the original creators, so it's not really the same game, just tell me if crash of the titans are like the first games? That games made on that years, doesn't exist, they're not crash games, maybe his cousin, but thats not definetly crash.

Zeek3
Mk8 is too item dependent imo. Ctr NF is skills dependent.
This so so much, MK online as I said's fucking tailor-made for camping and item spamming, maybe 30% of the time you'll win by just outracing everyone.
i think the drift is very personal preferences
personally i really love mario kart 8's drift
Kittysune it’s a nice game for sure to chill out with friends, I wish though that CTR had 60fps also but I will try it out anyway so 🤩👌🏾
Why did you mention the Boom Box as if CTR doesn't have that too? CTR has the Stop Watch which acts basically the exact same way as the boom box.
that's not a random approach at unlocks.... it's the old school method before micro transactions took over the market lol.
The unlocks are literally random.
