I find myself watching every NFL game I can this season just I can hear Marc, Dan and Gregg talk about it. Thanks for making football great. (I’m a Vikings fan and it used to only be pain)
This was my first year following this podcast (I've only been watching NFL for ~3 years in general) and I wanted to thank you guys cause y'all made it even more fun to follow NFL and I looked forward to each episode every week. I loved the guests you had throughout the year and your dynamic is top tier. Keep up the great work and I can't wait for season 12 of this show! Easily one of the best podcasts / shows I've followed or watched
100%. Defense stepped up, offense was poor, first half in particular. We had them on the ropes and Offensive Play caller genius Kyle let them off the hook time after time. 10 points wasn't enough when so dominant on defense. 7 certainly wasn't. Writing was on the wall at the half.
Dan is right in stopping Marc and Greg trying to change the narrative around a game manger at QB. That ship has sailed guys, a game manager will always be seen as a player with lesser talents
The overtime discussion is goofy. If you defer and they score a touchdown and then you score a touchdown, Patrick Mahomes has the ball where all he has to do is drive for a field goal and you die. You take the ball.
I feel like Gregg didn't understand Shannahan's explanation. It's pretty close odds wise cause each team gets an advantage but it's really hard to knock Shannahan for that and the ATL gang was a bit lost.
@@DamonClarke-uo3edThe rule change did not matter. The 49ers would have taken the ball, the Chiefs would have been allowed to respond after an opening field goal, and they scored before the first overtime quarter ended regardless.
Well that's exactly what Shannahan's reasoning was. He said he was hoping for the 3rd possession in OT and hit a walk-off field goal or TD. I'm not gonna lie though, I thought that the end of the first quarter in OT was gonna be the end if they weren't tied! I was like, "why aren't you calling timeout, Andy?!?" But then they scored so it ended up working out either way 😅😊
He really ended up doing himself quite a service being a terrible head coach, because he never would have even won a playoff game, let alone multiple Super Bowls, at the grand helm
Just wanted to say, since you guys have been doing this podcast, the Chiefs have now matched the Patriots 3 Super Bowl record! Chiefs have 3, Pats with 3, and then the Seahawks, Broncoes, Eagles, Bucs, and Rams have 1!
Great defense is not boring. This was a very high-quality Super Bowl, from start to finish. The overtime decision turned out to be a mistake, but at the time, I thought the '9er defense needed the extra possession to gather themselves before KC got the ball, again. If Shanahan had said that was his thinking, I wouldn't have had a problem, but no. He had some theory about the 3rd possession being the key. I haven't run any simulations, but maybe there is a mathematical reason for wanting the ball, first, based on the high probability that both teams will score field goals. Not a crazy calculation, when you factor in both kickers setting records. Also, the KC offense was having problems punching the ball in on offense, so it'd be reasonable to assume their 1st possession would be at best a field goal. On a side note, Chiefs players have said the plan was to go for 2 if they scored a TD in response to a San Fran TD.
He was a class act for sure. Mahomes owes a lot of his early career development to his mentorship. Also the two of them have, respectively, the highest and second-highest TD/INT ratio in NFL playoff history-Smith at 7.0 and Mahomes at 5.1.
I didn’t love grave digger and his need to hit 100 drops an episode and cut Marc off 10 times. But Eric still being bad with when to use the drops is a concern for the show
That punt fumble changed the game, once you give life to Mahones he will make you pay it n so he did,but that fumble hitting the SF guy watching the stars is not acceptable on a SB game.
Some people are just better as a coordinator I think even spags knows this he is an elite DC but he struggles as a HC and I don't think that is a bad thing everyone is good at something just because you're not good in a higher position doesn't mean you're not good at all.
Dude McKivitz just had to block Chris Jones and they score a touchdown at 21:03 like he didn't even try to block ANYONE Edit: It was Burford who should've picked him up.
Gregg: i dont want anyone coming after the niners offense! Sir, they had 3 back to back to back 3 and outs with no rushing attempts in the 3 quarter. Thats just unserious
Marc said 49ers td in ot would sink a knife in chiefs heart? He does know the overtime rules changed and chiefs would’ve still went down and get a td and admitted they were going for 2 if 49ers got a td
The media unsurprisingly jumping the gun and calling Mahomes the GOAT like him winning 5+ titles is inevitable. They are completely ignoring the massive unknown in his career beyond Travis Kelce if/when father time catches up to #87 in the next 2-3 years. The variance of that unknown could even include Mahomes coming back to the rest of the pack and not only not catching Brady but not even going down as the best QB of his own generation or of this current decade which still has 6 seasons remaining.
To be fair, the Chiefs receivers had the biggest amount of drops in the season, Kelce included. And they still won the Super Bowl. I think Mahomes has shown he can adapt (not to mention each of the playoff games they played this postseason was very different and they made it work enough with every team to win)
This show focuses on SF LOSING the game. They got smacked again by the greatest QB in history. Compare Purdy to Mahomes, if you blitzed Mahomes the way the the Chiefs blitzed Purdy, Mahomes would have completely torched the SF secondary.
Oh now he may never be at sb again ,this lot it kills them . Still missing hill won two SB without him and he won none since he left and went to the super mighty dolphins who never got past the wild card the very wild card game this lot said Mahomes wouldn’t win .
Going for it on 4th and 4 in OT wasn't even a gamble. A field goal was never going to get it done. If you turn the ball over on downs, you still have 94 yards to stop the Chiefs, then you could win it with a field goal. Dumb choice by Shanahan.
These guys : Mahomes has been off this season , Mahomes won’t win away from home in playoffs ,chiefs won’t beat dolphins in playoffs ( beat them twice already) chiefs won’t beat the awesome bills ( who never won a SB btw ) no way chiefs are beating mvp Jackson , no way chiefs beat San Fran . Mahomes never win another SB without hill ( won two hill won none since he left ) Burrows,Allen and Jackson better ( zero SB between them ) Dam Patrick might as well retire ,oh wait !
Very disappointed. These guys are way too intelligent and knowledgeable about football to give such brainless takes of Kelce pushing Andy. Was there less heat on it partly because of who Travis is? Yes obviously but to look at this as just an isolated incident in a vacuum and pretend like both diggs/brown don't already have a history of being bad teammates is very disingenuous. These guys are way to smart to not recognize that different players will be and should be reacted to differently.
49ers biggest loss of Super Bowl week? No that belongs to my favorite podcast around the nfl. Uploaded 3 videos for the 2 week break then uploads 4 the day after the game. I will never listen on a podcast app
yeah it's the style of his play, he scrambles and then guys are wide open. different than the traditional qb play we saw from brady, manning, brees, rodgers
First of all, yes, he did. The Mecole catch. Secondly, I get that the NFL is an entertainment product, but it’s above all else (or should be) a sport. The important thing is managing the game in a way that allows you to win. Not to try to make risky throws just to look cool
not a 49er fan but how? having purdy as ur qb means u can spend everywhere else on ur team and keep the good guys. every other team will have to cut some of their best guys to meet the cap. 49ers shud be back next season
@@erlinghakaku9967 Because Aiyuk needs to be paid, Kittle is getting older and many many guys earn big money. This change is inevitable. We had this crew for a while, but change is coming.

Fire Shanahan. I cannot take his coughing up leads in Superbowls anymore. He chokes and folds and cannot get it done. Niners offense in first half offered nothing, despite the D playing great. Kyle will never win a Superbowl. It's like having depression again. 🤮

Mahomes to Hardman not celebrating his Superbowl winning TD: "What are we doin'?!" 🤣

The 49'ers did'nt take advantage of the Chiefs when they were stuck in neutral for the first 3 quarters.

Around the NFL’s last Super Bowl covered 😢 R.I.P at least it as a banger
Big shout out to everyone involved in this show! That includes, Dan, Greggg, The Pipe, Tiny Box, Producer Eric, and all the guys. Thanks!
I was scared for a second because you guys always do a pod before the big game so I was very nervous but thank you 🙏🏾
They did 3 pods last week before the game.
I mostly watch them on RUclips I forget sometimes to check apple first
The idea that it took ANOTHER Super Bowl win to call the Chiefs a dynasty is silly.
Never be a game like 2021 AFC .DIVISIONAL .
I finally made it to the end
Why SF gave up the running game in the 3th quarter? I couldn't believe it while watching the game.Kyle this one is on you.
Go watch the game again. Chiefs run defense stepped up and forced them to stop
Alex Smith has his hands all over this. Love that guy
He was a class act for sure. Mahomes owes a lot of his early career development to his mentorship. Also the two of them have, respectively, the highest and second-highest TD/INT ratio in NFL playoff history-Smith at 7.0 and Mahomes at 5.1.
it wasn't 3 seconds left in OT. It was 3 seconds left in the 1st qtr of OT.
When your defense holds Mahomes to 19 points you /have/ to win. Shanahan can apparently only scheme up a perfect game in the regular season.
Eric the producer is for sure on the hot seat
I didn’t love grave digger and his need to hit 100 drops an episode and cut Marc off 10 times. But Eric still being bad with when to use the drops is a concern for the show
Marc, damn.
That punt fumble changed the game, once you give life to Mahones he will make you pay it n so he did,but that fumble hitting the SF guy watching the stars is not acceptable on a SB game.
I agree but for SF to be only up by 7 at the half is why they lost. Offense had so many chances to score in first half and Kyle blew it.
Take that Kyle!!!!
Reid had some bad losses with KC before Mahomes too
Dan doesn't know why Spags didn't get considered for a head coach position? Sir, he is 11-41 as a head coach. he sucks

"simple"? Maybe they thought Usher was the best because it was a great musical performance intead of an over the top circus? Who's simple now Dan?
So the analysis is what SF didn't do, not what KC did.
Gregg: i dont want anyone coming after the niners offense!
