I love DF videos - I do - but if I have one nitpick its this: please be consistent with the side-by-side comparison shots. In some, you have Series X is on the left, in others - seconds later - its on the right. Makes it very confusing to the audience when they are constantly switching.
Sadly top performances is not possible on a pc on wifi. You need. Chromecast ultra on Ethernet for that. I dont experience the frame pacing issues on chromecast ultra and i have lower imput lag.
@@JeffreyThrash sadly wifi vs wired ethernet would only fix latency and input lag. The issue is on chrome its lower bitrate so much more compression artifact and much worst Lightning and contrast and sharpness. Its also more fluid on ccu so seem framerate a tad better too.
Not really. Google blocks the competition and offers an inferior product. I'm stuck playing RDR II on stuttering 720p when I could play it on ultra and 4k on Geforce Now.
and here's another interesting difference: atoms appear much sharper in series x but Microsoft console seem to be missing some of the electrons present in Google stadia
@@battleroyale1056 They both have their ups and downs, stadia has 4k, no queue whether you pay for stadia pro or not, and unlimited session time but you have to buy games specifically for stadia like how consoles work . GeForce Now has ray tracing(on supported games if you have a founders membership) , wider mobile support, you can play pc games you already own, but there is a limited session length and there is a usually ridiculously long queue if you don't have a founders membership.
@@maxmustardman298 Shadow PC has a pretty bad CPU, so performance in games is lower than what a GTX 1080 is usually capable of. Games usually run the same, or even somewhat worse than my GTX 1060 rig, though I still use Shadow because having a remote, always available PC is incredibly convenient.

200Mbps at 14ms ping is much better than a lot of other consumers will have. Also, screen quality will not differ with the use of a other controller. Lastly, forcing 4k does not alter the stream from a non-forced 4k, but they did not even mention they are forcing it. They just say Stadia Enhanced *CAN* force 4k, not that they do so.

The most surprising part about this video is the lack of fast, reliable internet “in the COVID era”. The US doesn’t get a great reputation for internet speeds mainly because of the wide geographical spread and slow rural connections, but in a major city 1Gbps fiber isn’t incredibly tough to come by in a residential setting. What are things looking like in the UK that someone from a gaming video outlet needed to sit in a car somewhere in order to get 60 Mbps??
It’s a worry as the UK does have gigabit connections. I get decent 550 down I live up north. Not sure why he wouldn’t be able to get close to a good connection, even in Covid times. Really strange.
Yeah that line stuck out to me too. Not only that, but on your connection, if you’re at least pulling 15-35 mbps and have low latency, it’s incredibly playable.
It’s quite confusing, Uk internet is pretty good overall, especially in built up areas with gigabit increasingly common. I use a rock solid 550mb for £59 a month with unlimited bandwidth.
You will see more bugs. Honestly, I'm playing on PC and the patches have gotten consistently less stable for me. 1.04 had the best performance. 1.05 had performance problems. 1.06 crashes for me.

Can we just appreciate the work and effort that went into this video. The setup and finding the best connection for the best and fairest breakdown of Stadia alone but then having to painstakingly count each frame by eye to make sure it’s proper and no wrong frames accounted. For what it’s worth, if you don’t have capped internet, or your cap is high, you can probably run Stadia consistently. Destiny 2 and bomber man are completely free to play if you want to give it a shot :)

It also runs mostly flawlessly in 4K on a rather "weak" Internet connection (40 down, 5 up). According to Google 35mbit would be enough and for full hd even just about 25mbit. The more important factor is how stable the connection is and maybe also its ping, but I'm no expert ;) For casual gamers like me who work with/uses Apple (and sometimes Linux) and don't wanna buy a next gen console, Stadia is the perfect solution.
At this point, anything he says is going to be taken with a huge grain of salt. He may be right, but he has also said far too many untruths lately. I'd trust Richard far more at this point!

To be fair, test it with a 200 mb conection, ethernet, chromecast, and the stadia controller. Thats the best experience for now with stadia and is a very good one, the possibility that you can use stadia on your laptop, tablet, phone with wifi, 4G, 5G or ethernet is a plus not a detriment. You guys are the best media for technical specs on videogames but give it a better try to stadia and remember, cloud gaming is the future, just as netflix is the present and blockbuster the past. Consoles and gaming pc are amazing but what google with stadia, amazon with Luna and xbox with xcloud are doing is amazing also and for sure will be the way the majority will play in the near future.

I had given up on stadia early last year, but I thought I'd try it again for cyberpunk, as it's amazing. I'm in the UK and on a countryside connection, yet stadia runs near flawlessly. Only issues I've had were in-game glitches, and a few brief stutters over 10+ hours of gameplay. (Using pro in quality mode with Chromecast ultra & stadia controller)

I hope Richard or the DF team reads this, but, it would be a HUGE help if you guys could add some kind of graphic showing the resolution numbers whenever you're explaining the min/max for dynamic res, because as a bilingual viewer, it's REALLY difficult for me to think about numbers in english so I have to struggle or turn on closed captions, which isn't ideal. To be clear, I know there's actually a list of the min/max resolutions after Rich's done explaining, and that really helps, but what I mean is at the moment when numbers start popping out, it's really hard for me (and I guess a lot of bilingual people) to focus on converting "Eighteen Hundred" to "One thousand, Eight Hundred" since that's how it works in Spanish.
Isn’t GeForce Now like playing on virtual gaming rigs? It would be like comparing the PC version to the console version. I don’t see why they would do this comparison other than comparing input lag.
@@UnceasingElias GFN does have it's own quality settings and also performance is in question. From your argument, there would be no need to compare the game on different PC setups either? If you want to see it that way, it could rather be something like "1080TI vs. 2080TI vs. 3080 vs. GFN".
@@gatnom Pretty sure it has the same quality settings as the standard PC builds (you can change the settings to your liking) the only differences are the Ray Tracing options are disabled for free users and you can only get a 4k stream if you use an Nvidia Shield, and you can only play for an hour before having to queue up for another session. I play it on GFN free, runs fine using DF's optimized settings. I'd like to try the premium version with Ray Tracing but they're only offering 6 month plans right now because there are so many people flooding the servers to play Cyberpunk.
although I'm a big Stadia fan and love to see this, I feel what we're really seeing here is how "unlocking" the potential of a platform is all about who's doing the work. the core game is buggy all around, but i feel the success of the Stadia version wouldn't have been possible if it had been done by CD Projekt Red themselves. trying to juggle so many different versions must be a nightmare, and Stadia benefitted from this. I hope Google starts asking more from developers going forward so that Stadia players can experience great ports (like CP2077, The Division 2, Doom Eternal) in every game on the platform.
It's an amazing console and the game is great even with the bugs and stuff, it's far from perfect but it's a very good game ! Currently on my second 100% run after getting all the Achievements, the replayability is pretty good too ;) EDIT : Performance mode is a must, the details are good enough, so I'd suggest going for that mode instead of Quality.
I am SO DANG GLAD that you guys not only took the time to actually test out the Stadia version of this game, but actually went to such lengths to show it at its best! I cannot tell you how annoying it’s been seeing how unfairly harsh people like Rerez continue to just treat it while ignoring how games like this are actually strumming the consoles they’re so more in favor with. Now I like those consoles too but I’ve grown to like Stadia more and more as well. So I’m hoping that this’ll lead to people like him giving this platform more respect.

How so? Not everyone has bad internet connection, is healthy having options. I'll present you my case, I was a gamer, don't have much time to justify spending money on Gaming PC or Next Gen Console, but was happy to spend $60 dollars and get Cyberpunk + Free Chromecast and Controller. When I have some free time I can play Cyberpunk without any issues since I have good connection everywhere, for a low price of free after $60 Dollars investment.
The game was a great experience on GeForce Now too, going for 1920x1080@60, high settings and ray tracing enabled. No waiting in queues whatsoever in 80 hours.

I suspect others have pointed this out, but the Stadia monitor (Stadia Enhanced, Stadia+, etc.) doesn't measure dropped frames in the game but in the stream. In fact all the data it reports is about the stream, and none about the game itself ;)
This is the most contrived set up possible and something that 0.0001% of the population is likely to do. Got a FAIR comparison us a normal set up : Home connection with a handful of devices on a chrome cast Ultra.

Im assuming the unique differences are because of the outsourcing of the port, causing different "switches" being flipped on and off to hit the framerate/quality markers. Im still gonna continue living my best life with stadia cause being able to play good games on my phone is just so rad, but i appreciate the deep dive and can't wait to see the game get more patches and continually get better ❤

GeForce Now, _is_ a PC. So if you get a similarly specced PC and limit the resolution to 1080p, that's pretty much what you'll get when streaming it over GeForce Now.
I would prefer Geforce now because there I own the game. I don't like the idea of paying for a subscription service and then buying the game full price.
@@Turbo35 Except, on Stadia you don't need to pay a subscription... You just buy the game. Access to the service is free. And you only "own" the game in the sense that you can download the Steam version on your PC. It's still just a digital license that can be revoked just the same.
Italian casual gamer here suffering world hw shortage. Currently got 2 different stadia, founders and premiere on two 4k tvs, 160mgbit 5ghz wifi. Cyberp looks pretty impressive.
Perhaps I'm remembering things incorrectly, but didn't Google promise us that with Stadia we'd be able to play games at their highest graphical settings at an unyielding 60 FPS? I got the impression that Stadia would be an inexpensive way to play games the same way as PC gamers with the latest hardware would be able to. With that being said, Stadia still looks impressive, especially since it's relatively cheaper than playing the game on other platforms.
I have a decent cable internet connection with a Chromecast Ultra on 4K TV and i'm really enjoying playing this and Assassins Creed on Stadia Pro. Looks great and plays really well. Got the Chromecast Ultra and Stadia controller free with Cyberpunk, really impressed and practically free.

Spent 100+ hours on stadia and got all the trophies. All i can say is the game is gorgeous and if any one want to play the game but not have the money for a high end build go for it
Why wasn't it easier to use a Chromecast Ultra with ethernet and home broadband? Stadia really doesn't require users to go to any great lengths to get a good experience.
It has always worked this great since beginning. Its the false media reporting that lead to the perception that it didnt work that well. People who actually tried were always blown away.

Got a refund on One X, bought the game on Stadia, and damn, it's been amazing. Played 50 hrs until now. Did get those frame pacing issues on Chrome indeed, but it's silky smooth on Chromecast Ultra + Stadia controller, huge difference actually, much better experience. Controls are just still a little "heavy", but it seems it's not network latency, it feels more like input lag on the game/system side. For exemple, Destiny 2 or Hitman 2 have no perceptible lag at all when i try them and compare to my One X. Litteraly nothing, feels like it's played locally (22ms of latency according to Stadia Enhanced). CP2077 feels very sluggish in comparaison, even in 60 FPS mode, even if it's better. Waiting to be able to buy a Series X when they are back in stock. But Stadia was godsent in the meantime to enjoy this game in good conditions.

But if it's good, might as well say it, no ? Keeping telling everyone it's trash without even having tried it isn't really clever. Not sure if you knew this, but built-in Stadia captures are made server side (screenshots and clips). It could be, therefore, easier to work with for pixel counting as the network deviations and stream issues are out of the equation. Maybe even 30s clips could be usable for frame rate graphs. You'd have to download it as Stadia web player for clips is capped at 30fps. I only used it to confirm whether stutters are in-game (server-side) or caused by my network and stream and to confirm whether game actually runs consistent 60fps. Additionally, even longer Stadia direct RUclips streams would not be impacted by frame loss or stutters introduced by your network conditions. A big disclaimer is that those Stadia captures look better than the game-stream itself.
Stadia dont use the pc/windows version , it use a port version for the Ubuntu derivated os that the stadia servers uses, geforce now use the windows 10 version so dont get confused xd, anyway thats not mean anything is just a curious fact
As much as I LOVE the amount of work that was put in this video... just why is your setup so complicated? 90% of the people who use Stadia just plug in an ethernet wire (through their laptop or CCU) and they play it just fine. Wireless works too, I guess, but it's less stable.

If you're seeing dropped frames in-game, presumably they are happening on Stadia's side and don't look any different to the decoder, it just knows the next frame is unchanged from the previous one?

Yeah i noticed this during Christmas break. My son came home and he has a stadia acct. He logged in and i watched him play it. Ran great. It ran much better than my One X version. To be fair, the One X version isnt that bad, or at least hasnt been terrible for me. Ive had a few bugs here or there. The main difference i saw was texture pop in. It was prevelant on my One X, but nowhere to be found watching him play it on Stadia

played Stadia version for 34 hours so far. Only 2 small bugs so far where meshes disappeared. It's wonderful
You will see more bugs. Honestly, I'm playing on PC and the patches have gotten consistently less stable for me. 1.04 had the best performance. 1.05 had performance problems. 1.06 crashes for me.

For what it’s worth, if you don’t have capped internet, or your cap is high, you can probably run Stadia consistently. Destiny 2 and bomber man are completely free to play if you want to give it a shot :)

It also runs mostly flawlessly in 4K on a rather "weak" Internet connection (40 down, 5 up). According to Google 35mbit would be enough and for full hd even just about 25mbit. The more important factor is how stable the connection is and maybe also its ping, but I'm no expert ;)
For casual gamers like me who work with/uses Apple (and sometimes Linux) and don't wanna buy a next gen console, Stadia is the perfect solution.

No way to measure anything but it felt like a great 1080p @ 60 experience (rtx on!)
Geforce now version wins. Despite only being limited to 1080p you can use higher bit rates on Geforce now and you can turn on RTX.

To be fair, test it with a 200 mb conection, ethernet, chromecast, and the stadia controller. Thats the best experience for now with stadia and is a very good one, the possibility that you can use stadia on your laptop, tablet, phone with wifi, 4G, 5G or ethernet is a plus not a detriment.
You guys are the best media for technical specs on videogames but give it a better try to stadia and remember, cloud gaming is the future, just as netflix is the present and blockbuster the past. Consoles and gaming pc are amazing but what google with stadia, amazon with Luna and xbox with xcloud are doing is amazing also and for sure will be the way the majority will play in the near future.

I had given up on stadia early last year, but I thought I'd try it again for cyberpunk, as it's amazing. I'm in the UK and on a countryside connection, yet stadia runs near flawlessly. Only issues I've had were in-game glitches, and a few brief stutters over 10+ hours of gameplay. (Using pro in quality mode with Chromecast ultra & stadia controller)

I hope Richard or the DF team reads this, but, it would be a HUGE help if you guys could add some kind of graphic showing the resolution numbers whenever you're explaining the min/max for dynamic res, because as a bilingual viewer, it's REALLY difficult for me to think about numbers in english so I have to struggle or turn on closed captions, which isn't ideal. Keep up the great work guys!
To be clear, I know there's actually a list of the min/max resolutions after Rich's done explaining, and that really helps, but what I mean is at the moment when numbers start popping out, it's really hard for me (and I guess a lot of bilingual people) to focus on converting "Eighteen Hundred" to "One thousand, Eight Hundred" since that's how it works in Spanish.
There is another version missing you did not look at, GeForce Now. I'd like to see how that hold up against Stadia.

How does GeForce now work?
@@gatnom Pretty sure it has the same quality settings as the standard PC builds (you can change the settings to your liking) the only differences are the Ray Tracing options are disabled for free users and you can only get a 4k stream if you use an Nvidia Shield, and you can only play for an hour before having to queue up for another session.
I play it on GFN free, runs fine using DF's optimized settings. I'd like to try the premium version with Ray Tracing but they're only offering 6 month plans right now because there are so many people flooding the servers to play Cyberpunk.
although I'm a big Stadia fan and love to see this, I feel what we're really seeing here is how "unlocking" the potential of a platform is all about who's doing the work. the core game is buggy all around, but i feel the success of the Stadia version wouldn't have been possible if it had been done by CD Projekt Red themselves. trying to juggle so many different versions must be a nightmare, and Stadia benefitted from this. I hope Google starts asking more from developers going forward so that Stadia players can experience great ports (like CP2077, The Division 2, Doom Eternal) in every game on the platform.

It's an amazing console and the game is great even with the bugs and stuff, it's far from perfect but it's a very good game ! Currently on my second 100% run after getting all the Achievements, the replayability is pretty good too ;) EDIT : Performance mode is a must, the details are good enough, so I'd suggest going for that mode instead of Quality.

I am SO DANG GLAD that you guys not only took the time to actually test out the Stadia version of this game, but actually went to such lengths to show it at its best! I cannot tell you how annoying it’s been seeing how unfairly harsh people like Rerez continue to just treat it while ignoring how games like this are actually strumming the consoles they’re so more in favor with. Now I like those consoles too but I’ve grown to like Stadia more and more as well. So I’m hoping that this’ll lead to people like him giving this platform more respect.

How so? Not everyone has bad internet connection, is healthy having options. I'll present you my case, I was a gamer, don't have much time to justify spending money on Gaming PC or Next Gen Console, but was happy to spend $60 dollars and get Cyberpunk + Free Chromecast and Controller. When I have some free time I can play Cyberpunk without any issues since I have good connection everywhere, for a low price of free after $60 Dollars investment.
The game was a great experience on GeForce Now too, going for 1920x1080@60, high settings and ray tracing enabled.
No waiting in queues whatsoever in 80 hours.

I suspect others have pointed this out, but the Stadia monitor (Stadia Enhanced, Stadia+, etc.) doesn't measure dropped frames in the game but in the stream. In fact all the data it reports is about the stream, and none about the game itself ;)

Im assuming the unique differences are because of the outsourcing of the port, causing different "switches" being flipped on and off to hit the framerate/quality markers. Im still gonna continue living my best life with stadia cause being able to play good games on my phone is just so rad, but i appreciate the deep dive and can't wait to see the game get more patches and continually get better ❤

GeForce Now, _is_ a PC. So if you get a similarly specced PC and limit the resolution to 1080p, that's pretty much what you'll get when streaming it over GeForce Now.

Italian casual gamer here suffering world hw shortage. Currently got 2 different stadia, founders and premiere on two 4k tvs, 160mgbit 5ghz wifi. Cyberp looks pretty impressive.

Perhaps I'm remembering things incorrectly, but didn't Google promise us that with Stadia we'd be able to play games at their highest graphical settings at an unyielding 60 FPS? I got the impression that Stadia would be an inexpensive way to play games the same way as PC gamers with the latest hardware would be able to. With that being said, Stadia still looks impressive, especially since it's relatively cheaper than playing the game on other platforms.

Stadia CAN run at 60FPS and there's a couple of games on the platform that do, but it's up to the developers (and their competence, I guess.)

I have a decent cable internet connection with a Chromecast Ultra on 4K TV and i'm really enjoying playing this and Assassins Creed on Stadia Pro. Looks great and plays really well. Got the Chromecast Ultra and Stadia controller free with Cyberpunk, really impressed and practically free.

Spent 100+ hours on stadia and got all the trophies. All i can say is the game is gorgeous and if any one want to play the game but not have the money for a high end build go for it

That in-car setup certainly did its job, however the 12V DC -> 230V AC -> 12V DC conversion was utterly pointless.
Got a refund on One X, bought the game on Stadia, and damn, it's been amazing. Played 50 hrs until now. Did get those frame pacing issues on Chrome indeed, but it's silky smooth on Chromecast Ultra + Stadia controller, huge difference actually, much better experience.
Controls are just still a little "heavy", but it seems it's not network latency, it feels more like input lag on the game/system side. For exemple, Destiny 2 or Hitman 2 have no perceptible lag at all when i try them and compare to my One X. Litteraly nothing, feels like it's played locally (22ms of latency according to Stadia Enhanced). CP2077 feels very sluggish in comparaison, even in 60 FPS mode, even if it's better.
Waiting to be able to buy a Series X when they are back in stock. But Stadia was godsent in the meantime to enjoy this game in good conditions.

Not sure if you knew this, but built-in Stadia captures are made server side (screenshots and clips). It could be, therefore, easier to work with for pixel counting as the network deviations and stream issues are out of the equation. Maybe even 30s clips could be usable for frame rate graphs. You'd have to download it as Stadia web player for clips is capped at 30fps. I only used it to confirm whether stutters are in-game (server-side) or caused by my network and stream and to confirm whether game actually runs consistent 60fps. Additionally, even longer Stadia direct RUclips streams would not be impacted by frame loss or stutters introduced by your network conditions. A big disclaimer is that those Stadia captures look better than the game-stream itself.

Stadia dont use the pc/windows version , it use a port version for the Ubuntu derivated os that the stadia servers uses, geforce now use the windows 10 version so dont get confused xd, anyway thats not mean anything is just a curious fact
As much as I LOVE the amount of work that was put in this video... just why is your setup so complicated? 90% of the people who use Stadia just plug in an ethernet wire (through their laptop or CCU) and they play it just fine. Wireless works too, I guess, but it's less stable.

If you're seeing dropped frames in-game, presumably they are happening on Stadia's side and don't look any different to the decoder, it just knows the next frame is unchanged from the previous one?

Yeah i noticed this during Christmas break. My son came home and he has a stadia acct. He logged in and i watched him play it. Ran great. It ran much better than my One X version. To be fair, the One X version isnt that bad, or at least hasnt been terrible for me. Ive had a few bugs here or there. The main difference i saw was texture pop in. It was prevelant on my One X, but nowhere to be found watching him play it on Stadia
