@@Jeficus to be honest, I still ain't used them yet, as I've been grinding penances for other classes, but my mates who used it yesterday were singing it's praises
This update changes about as much as pouring a jug of water into an unplugged bathtub and hoping it'll change the outcome of the bathtub running empty.
I think the difficulty increase is the best part of the update as well. I think the bolt pistol needs more oomph beyond just headshots. To the zealot nerfs - the evi and rashad are still top tier weapons, the crit spam in my view was already kinda cheesy and over the top with how much you could spam it, but it hardly eliminates the zealot fantasy. Try out martyrdom some time. Its crazy strong.
I never liked RNG with gear, i want my grind to be rewarded guaranteed or at least slowly and visibly have an impact. I dont like grinding for a chance to gamble.
The thing that i noticed recently that i like and dont like is how the bolter has no ammo. Like i get how its a specialist killer and what not but it takes the better part of a decade to reload and only has 15 shots with 100 bullets on vet. The amount of ammo was ok when 1 crusher was a threat to the team back when the game had just launched but with stuff like the plasma gun and the stub revolver doing the job better. And with better ammo pickups i feel like can opener vet cant live. Tldr: Im mad that bolter has so much sway and recoil with teensy damage and no ammo. Its also slow
It needs a buff or rework. People saying otherwise aren't taki g the bolt pistol to higher difficulty games, they're just not. They'll run it at Heresy a couple of times and think they know then watch the pros manage Auric Maelstrom just fine, but they can do this with a spoon and a sling, it's not representing even good normal players. We need a boltgun that is a little stronger than this, or a bit more ammo, or both for it to be fully playable at highest difficulty. I mean sure I can remedy it partly with skill points if I run my Veteran so I get more ranged damage and more ammo but what about my main which is a Zealot? Yes he CAN manage with just close combat and a handy pistol that's a bit weak on Heresy, but Auric Damnation? Even normal Damnation that is what I mostly run, I still bring the Boltgun or a revolver instead.
I really enjoyed Darktide, but I stopped playing like.... a year ago. Just watched this video in case anything had fundamentally changed, but it doesn't sound like it. My big issues were the RNG weapons, the veeeeery slow content drops, and as you pointed out.... the balance. Darktide is full of really iconic and cool weapons, but so often they just feel awful for whatever reason. When I'm using certain things, all I really want is for them to feel powerful and rewarding, even if it's a little unbalanced or not lore-accurate. Having bolt pistols that a regular human can only just barely control is certainly lore-appropriate, but it doesn't leave you with much reason to actually try and use one in the game. Same thing with the double-barrel; sure, it makes sense for it to be useless against armor and have very short range... but design it that way and it's not going to be a very attractive option for many builds.
I was under the impression that they reverted a lot of the enemy changes or at least the gunner ones. Also crafting is not fine, not without a massive UI update. I could maybe except all the RNG but when getting the weapon you want involves 2 minutes of holding x to delete all the junk you bought crafting is not fine. And don't say mods, a game is not fine if you need mods to fix it.
Can I just say that I love that you gave Tanner a shout out? I love his content and he's clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the game. He gets a lot of shit because he speaks his mind and gives no fucks if it offends you or hurts your feelings lol but the guy knows his shit and you can learn a lot by watching his videos. Just be warned he is very much a "tough love" kind of guy. Like an Ultramarine... yeah
DTide doesn't need updates or rework. Just finishing the base game. Programmers and artists do pretty good job Cash Grabbers directors need to be fired
I main my ogryn and i can say... the pickaxes have a big disadvantage... the range of the cleave... every pick axe should atleast have one horizontal swing to keep you alive in hordes... with the diagonal cleave pattern you can be easily overwhelmed by a horde of 6+ walkers cause of the cleave range and the slow speed of attacks. And not every team mate wants to be or can be near you to cover your back every time. I crafting one with increased cleave blessings but im not rly sure if it will improve this weapon to be kept in my arsenal. Also the pick axe suffers from the fact that the ogryn only can regenerate toughness over heavy hits what makes +x % toughness regain over chained hits almost a must to have blessing. In my opinion the shield is by far still the best melee weapon for the ogryn. Good Dmg against all enemys ( with bleed a extra buff ) excellent horde clear and on top you can defend yourself in almost every situation. The pick axe has high potential but not in its current state and attack patterns.
I think that the double barrel should have been like the German drilling, two string buckshot rounds and a third one that has some range, in 40k fashion the long range round should be a bolter round
I hope they come up with more core classes/characters/races. I would love to play an ork even if it's kinda simplistic like the ogryn but focuses less on tanking. Orks could be a good candidate because the imperium hires orks (blood axes) from time to time, so they could fit in an inquisitor's warband. I'm pretty sure they don't want Ratlings because of the issues with height, but they've talked about Ratling snipers through in game dialogue. Squats might be ruled out for the same reason but could work. A combat servitor or something similar could work too. Also another possible avenue of content is a new hive city, there is ingame dialogue of another hive city that's kinda described to us like it's a wasteland.
The bolt gun is certainly iconic, but it should not be easier to wield. The huge sway conveys the weight of it, and the recoil really knocks home the fact youre shooting rockets. They could make it easier to use, but then it's just another gun. The space marines can handle the recoil because theyre space marines. We are some random low class prisoners that don't provide much value. It feels fun to fire it and think "wow, they really rapid fire these things." It conveys the point that we're just grunts well.
@@nikitafeoktistov8029 regarding space marines vs normal people handling these weapons: we aren’t using the Space Marine variant boltguns. We’re using human sized weaponry. A lot of people forget that the boltguns and bolt pistols used by the Adeptus Arbites, Adeptus Sororitas, and Astra Militarum are all re-sized and intentionally meant for human use. That being said, the weapons don’t currently feel powerful enough to justify their slow handling. As you pointed out we’re shooting mini rockets out of the gun, these should 100% be one shotting Groaners, even in flak armor.
Ngl this update feels like its gonna crush the casuals out, you gotta go to higher dificulties for reasonable farming+ difficulty hike, always chokes casuals out.
The only issues I have with this update is that the shotgun sounds are kind of underwhelming, especially when unloading both barrels but its really fun to use, so hopefully they give it a more punchy sound or something. The other thing is the rager buff, from what I have experienced they can swing both with the new faster speed and the old slower one, which kind of makes them pretty inconsistent, hopefully this is a bug or something and they fix it. Other than that, update is solid.
yeah, one new map and some new weapons won't get me to play again. VT2 got like 6 new maps the last 12 months while they're working on versus mode. why is DT not getting any meaningful updates is beyond me! also, they finally made the crafting system the way the could have already have it since the start? VT2 figured it out when this game was still in development.
Please. Darktide itemisation is better, at least from new player perspective. When you get to max character level, you can pretty much just go with grey weapons and it won't be as bad. Vermintide for new players is just painful to slowly grind chests/craft to get to that item level 300. And that item level is linked to your stagger, power and cleave. So with low item level you are just useless on higher difficulties. I'm sure you just forgot how bad new player experience is in VT2. VT2 got itemisation better when you are min maxing at max level. But getting there is just terrible. Darktide is the other way around. Items don't matter much when you get to max level but actually getting maxed items is dumb.
This was not really a good update. If this was a good update we would have a lot of more weapons, not exclusive weapons; 4 new classes; a whole lot of maps and more enemy units and an actual crafting system. Also, you do know that they had a story for this game, but decided not to add that story to the game. In an update, they decided to post the story on steam post-game summary. That is pathetic!
@@poundsofslothcigars yes it is. its not the selling point of the game. just buy some triple A garbage like assassins creed and have fun with all your "story" and cutscenes.

I cant wait for the rng weapons bs to go away, i never bothered to farm weapon blessings until recently as farming for blessings didnt seem worth it compared to selling the weapons i get
I think they should make a longer barreled variant of the double barrel that fires either slugs or insanely large rifle rounds. Kinda like a 40k elephant gun
We might get another double barrel if Fatshark respects the same pattern of adding new weapons. That is: make a new weapon, base variant or Mk and then add one or two more. The idea of a long double barrel with single target damage is pretty fucking neat.
I am wanting more than one weapon. I want new classes, new weapons for each class, a whole lot of maps and new type of enemies and new area off the planet.
Guy's, it wouldn't be a bolter in normal human's hands without ferocious weight and kick. I mean, come on, it's huge by nature. I don't think Fat shark needs to change it. I think they nailed it to a lore accurate bolter.
If it had the damage to justify that then that would be fine. it doesn't, so the kick and clunkyness just makes it a worse version of the revolver which hits just as hard, can chain shots more accurately and isn't blocked when your teammates jump in front of you. The current Bolter Pistol is like firing a .500 magnum and getting all the downsides of the recoil and weight of a .500 magnum but doing the same damage as a .38 special.
please PLEASE tell me fatshark is working on a solo mode it's a hughe turn off for me that i can't just gear up myself and the bots and just play and chill alone it's why i love playing vermintide more playing with randoms is fun but a lot of times i just want to play alone at my own pace and not being able to do that is why i'm still mainly sticking to vermintide
Dont agree about the bolter changes. The gun is made for using power armor so it totally makes sense why a normal human has problems aiming and holding it still

I see where you’re coming from Stephen. The itemization / crafting can really nuke someone’s experience with an update like this because even if you throw 20k-50k plasteel and 5 million ordo dockets at the new weapons, it is entirely possible to not get all of the blessings you want. 😢 The bug that’s currently busting my balls is error 2014. I’m getting it once a day in a 4-6 hour play session. Not sure what’s going on.
My console friends stopped playing before the update, how will they ever be convinced to return when the game is less accessible now? Controller support is pretty bad as it stands.
Hard disagree on thé bolt pistol. This IS the worst new weapon of thé update, because there is almost no advantage compared to a Revolver Zarona. You lose damage. You lose in Crit chance You lose in Crit damage. You lose in drawing Time You lose in précision. You lose in cleave. You lose in ammo economy You gain 3 bullet a clip. You gain a faster reload Time. So, if you have Perk that make you reload faster (Vétéran WINK WINK) you have virtually no advantage over it.
The update is pretty mid, I thought they were releasing the new crafting with this update. Besides the new weapons being thematic, all the weapons are ok at best, the bolt pistol is a disappointment it's like a worse revolver. With the buff to shooters found myself not using the double barrel as much as I would have liked. Can't really depend on randoms to have a way to deal with them, so back to the lasgun for me. The new map is, okay, aesthetic wise it's a 10/10, gameplay wise it's hit or miss. It feels like there's not enough cover mainly for ogryn. I am not sure why the community of this game is so set on gatekeeping. I can't imagine the low player numbers would be enough to keep fatshark updating it but then again vermintide has had pretty consistent low player number so maybe it's just how these games go. Might just be me, but I would like more people to enjoy the game, possible one of the best fps combat.
The increase in difficulty is fine but they should take a look at lower difficulties and make them more engaging without necessarily increasing the difficulty. The game will die off eventually, especially with Space Marine 2 on the way, and 1% of player base with over a thousand hours spent on the game or more is NOT enough. It is nice they make content for the most skilled players, but new players need something to get hooked on, and crafting system and lower game difficulties as well as random map selector will not do it.
I don't like the new difficulty spike. It was hard enough convincing some noob console friends to join me playing the last update, but now they'll never return. Malice seems way more challenging than before, making the higher difficulty modes a pipe dream. Its not that great loot drops happen enough to keep them invested. And trying to explain how to min max these builds to them sounds tedious. I love the game but the level of progression for noobs needs some work. Maybe it's cause quick turning is slow as molasses with controllers even with aim assist off. It gets worse trolling those same friends on a 7" handheld pc who think it has a mouse. 😂
For a big hype update, this brings... nothing really. Waiting so long for a mediocre update is laughable. If SM2 multi will be any good this game will lose even more players.
Bolters being giant noob traps and among the least effective weapons anyone can bring is far more lore unfriendly. It doesn't matter if its sway and recoil matches lore when its actual gameplay effectiveness and usefulness at actually killing things is inferior to nearly every other firearm in the game.
very well i shall give it another shot....BUT IF I HEAR 1 THING ABOUT FEMALE CUSTODES I AM DONE. 1 FACKIN THING!!!! hope that show never comes off the shelf.
Bro are you kidding me? The game is already bugged as fck. Teleporting mutants running around, teleporting dogs and stealth trappers/poxbusters spawn in front of you out of nowhere ruining your gameplay experience and you want more difficulty? Maybe if Fatshark ever fixes these crap situations which i doubt they will. Plus playing with randoms is always a risk since most people are noobs and some of them even join Auric with white(profane) weapons which clearly shows they have no clue.

We also fine-tuned the time windows where some specific attacks are active, to be more aligned to their attack animations.
Let’s go!!?
I want chain sword and pistol combo
Love the fact that you gave Tanner a shoutout, sometimes you just need a guy who gives it to you straight with no frills.
Like an Ultramarine... yeah

I am level 600+ ogryn and I can tell you that I carry every game by power maul

@@Jeficus I really wish they’d add the necrons or maybe even orks as a enemy
@@georgelucas8815 same man, I’d love to fight some xenos. I think Genestealer Cults would be a good fit.
Ngl this update feels like its gonna crush the casuals out, you gotta go to higher dificulties for reasonable farming+ difficulty hike, always chokes casuals out.

i love the pickaxe, its just the billhook from vermintide 2 but with side hits instead of stab spam
Not enough in the update to bring me back… this game had so much potential
i know im pretty late with this opinion but when you said "theres gonna be a 40k total war game" i hope there will be ogryns there too
The only issues I have with this update is that the shotgun sounds are kind of underwhelming, especially when unloading both barrels but its really fun to use, so hopefully they give it a more punchy sound or something. The other thing is the rager buff, from what I have experienced they can swing both with the new faster speed and the old slower one, which kind of makes them pretty inconsistent, hopefully this is a bug or something and they fix it. Other than that, update is solid.
With the new update on weapons the game will make a complete comeback in my opinion
Bolt pistol? Just use the revolver. It is way better
Bolt pistol is funner, I don't care about what's """""better"""""".
Stagger on crowds makes it a lil bit better
yeah, one new map and some new weapons won't get me to play again.
Items don't matter much when you get to max level but actually getting maxed items is dumb.
should probably introduce more rock related content or buff it possible double rock? bigger rock?
Bigger Rock!

Buff the normal double barrel to be better for hordes with maybe some more pellets and/or better cleave value and I think it'll be sick
We might get another double barrel if Fatshark respects the same pattern of adding new weapons. That is: make a new weapon, base variant or Mk and then add one or two more. The idea of a long double barrel with single target damage is pretty fucking neat.
Buffing difficulty and then not saying anything about it until they were caught by fans is just lousy and appeals to tryhards way too much.

I agree with the idea of the puncture buff but the bolter is still a basic weapon at the end of the day.

Sorry I disagree. The update is bad. Several maps got nerfed removing choke points and enemy spawns are insane with bad guys appearing from thin air right in front of you for no reason.
It also doesn't help that you can only get crafting mats to grind out the system in a reasonable level on Auric Damnation, and it's still insufficient.

I see where you’re coming from Stephen. The itemization / crafting can really nuke someone’s experience with an update like this because even if you throw 20k-50k plasteel and 5 million ordo dockets at the new weapons, it is entirely possible to not get all of the blessings you want. 😢

Finally someone who has some actual thought
My console friends stopped playing before the update, how will they ever be convinced to return when the game is less accessible now? Controller support is pretty bad as it stands.
Hard disagree on thé bolt pistol.
This IS the worst new weapon of thé update, because there is almost no advantage compared to a Revolver Zarona.
You lose damage.
You lose in Crit chance
You lose in Crit damage.
You lose in drawing Time
You lose in précision.
You lose in cleave.
You lose in ammo economy
You gain 3 bullet a clip.
You gain a faster reload Time.
So, if you have Perk that make you reload faster (Vétéran WINK WINK) you have virtually no advantage over it.
Hello, does anyone let you enter the game on Xbox? I can't enter after today's update.
When the new crafting system come out
Hey! Dont tell Ogrin Players their rocks are dumb
Too smal fro Alpharius, but Alpha Legion operative is more plausible opton IMHO.
Wait content got harder? Huh felt easier/same last night and haven’t played in around 5 months.

Disagree about reducing the sway on bolter weapons. Not lore friendly at all, so thats a big no from me.
Bolters being giant noob traps and among the least effective weapons anyone can bring is far more lore unfriendly. It doesn't matter if its sway and recoil matches lore when its actual gameplay effectiveness and usefulness at actually killing things is inferior to nearly every other firearm in the game.
