just found this your so good had to put this through the amp love your playing, thing is you you look just like son who also plays as do I. I was looking for a hollow and have just bought this you will be mentioned. and thank you for the blues videos you got it right.
what the f*ck... it does offend me that our music industry in this day and age is not scooping up our friend, Dave. This guy has got the raw talent combined with the dedication and pure passion to be selling out Wembley stadium. I love your playing Dave, thanks again as always man
@@Nighthawkrun There are so, so many great musicians producing music. Probably more than in the claimed 50s-70s heyday of music, because gear is cheaper and recording far more accessible than a few decades ago. Ultimately, they cannot all be sustained by a music industry.
david collins personally he’s not my favorite, but top 10 for sure, that being said however, he’s definitely one of the most talented players there is despite being relatively “unknown”
fav RUclips guitarist personality would be Mr. Simpson. Long time favs in this order 1) Jeff Beck, 2) David Gilmour, 3) Alex Lifeson, 4) Nels Cline, 5) Rory
Dude everytime you play I just get lost in yr playing with such emotion u are my favourite RUclips guitarist and I'm a metal fan but man u are amazing......try to stay sane its hard
I was thinking, when you consider how many videos Dave has made now, and almost every one has original music by him at the start and often at the end... his body of work is already more prolific than many of my other favorite artists. This man is a creative powerhouse. Some day there's going to be a Dave Simpson anthology with all of his youtube work compiled and people will argue over which era of his was the best ;)
400billionsuns I love Dave! But these are just intro and outro jams, not written, rehearsed, and worked on like his actual songs are. I think dave should record and release a solo album. Instrumental or not.
Dude, you're seriously helping me get through this shit...all I can do is stay home and binge watch RUclips and you always fascinate me...I'd kill to jam with you!
I know I would kill to play Luke him as well I stream his Chanel in the car its better than this shitty music now a days qith all these people and zero talent all synth this guy is the real deal.
Got mine delivered yesterday. I can't put it down. I've never had a guitar that's such a pleasure to play right out of the box. Damn thing practically plays itself!
Dave, any chances you can share with us the backing tracks? I am sure there are so other people who'd love to play along with you :) your video intros are always amazing
335 style guitars are the epitome of the Chicago blues which is reason enough to love them. Dave of course takes it to a different level altogether. Every day my practice sessions remind me of the gap. Sigh.
That's a nice looking guitar, Dave. I like the fact that you enjoy your budget- friendly guitars and you are proof, if any were needed, that you don't need a big brand name to have fun and make a lovely noise. I have the Harley Benton 35+, which is an awesome guitar, too. Also, one more thing, I bought and assembled the HB ST kit after watching your videos and I'm so glad I did. It looks/sounds/plays stunning and I like it more than my MIM Strat. Stay safe/sane.
Wow ,,, I'm blown away ,, I never thought I'd hear another David Gilmore in my lifetime, You are Better and I'm buying that guitar on the strength of your demo. Seriously, Heartwood should pay you for this as their sales will surely rocket after this, what a noise. Thank you very much and merry Christmas to all.
What a sound of an awesome guitar..and guitarist! I've been looking for a semi-acoustic guitar to fill up my collection and this one seems to fill her out...
Semi hollow are awesome guitars.. Treated myself to an Epi 335 dot couple months ago.. Superb... Also makes playing the les Paul easier as they're quite a big beast.. Anyhoo great playing as usual 🤘☯️✌️
This guitar sounds amazing! But your incredible playing also adds to it, I can 100% say today that you are my favorite guitarist and my main influence on guitar playing, so thank you for that Dave :) I'm currently trying to save some money to get myself one of these in black, as it is doesn't have a bigsby, on 335 style guitars, i'd rather just have a stopbar in there. Hope you're doing well, and keep on rocking Dave :)
Stay strong during lockdown dave!! We know its tough but you are bringing so many people joy with your guitar and videos. You are an inspiration to watch.
Just flogged my old Kay EP-8T as I wanted a hollow body that was up to modern standards with a more consistent, 335esque- tone. I researched high and low for what to get with a very limited budget and this video convinced me. I found one 'as new' for £165, from a reputable shop (refurbed display model or customer return probably). It arrives on Monday. Can't wait. Great playing, great attitude. Keep at it dude. I'm off over to your bandcamp now...
Thanks Dave, I`ve been mulling around with all manner of ideas on what to get semi wise, and have finally come full circle back to the H.W Revival, (Burst Finish.) and have decided to just for for it. You`re honest & no nonsense review of it, has certainly helped me decide. cuz I`ve been to all manner of sites to find just the right model, at a sensible price, and this one hits the nail firmly on its head. Rock On Dude. 😎🎸
Just came across this video, afraid to say I've never heard of you, I have now 👍. I was a zombie watching this, I was fixed to the tv, and when you stood up and played, I was just blown away. Amazing song and playing ability.
Perhaps my favorite thing about you dave is how you play every guitar a little differently...you really understand the little nuances of them and give them a proper go..
In my old country there's a saying "It's not the instrument - it's the man who plays" ("Mitte pill ei mängi - mees mängib"). Hence, it really doesn't matter what brand axe you play - a budget guitar or a top-end masterpiece. I'm glad it grew on you, and you've done a marvellous job presenting it. Thank you for the video. My "like" is well deserved.
I'm a late comer to Dave Simpson, and by accident tbh ... but wow what a great reviewer, I love people who are passionate about what they do and have to say this review is just the dogs... passionate, honesty, knowledgeable and genuine guy ... and then to top it all a fantastic player. Cheers mate, love your review :-)
You play such amazing sounds Dave and you show it’s not the headstock and expensive brands that make the difference-you get amazing out of whatever you play!!!
Someone said you should do a compilation of your inros - 100% agree. I think you would shift a lot of units! Regardless, you play some mesmeric stuff man - a true honest emotionally expressed talent through 6 strings. Thanks, Dave.
And I gained a level of respect for you that I don't just hand out when I saw the video that you revealed that your soulmate is a Mexican strat...the best thing that ever happened to me was a classic vibe tele...
Hello Dave !!! - 3 notes were enough to win you a new subscriber !!! What lovely and inspired playing - and you let it seem as you're just noodling ... a quick download and I'll try to emulate you... Thank you man !!!

Hi Dave, just got my H.W Revival last week, great guitar for the dosh, and I`ve already started my mods on it, replaced the the stop tail bar, for a Trapeze tail piece, vast improvement, also waiting for a new 335 style pickguard to turn up, didn`t fancy reshaping mine, as I don`t like messing around with hacksaws etc, I`m also replacing the V&T pots, for chrome Witches Hat types, to keep the whole chrome vibe running throughout it. It seems to be cherry red 335 time. Yesterday my friend gave me a cherry red Epi dot to work on that he got for cheap, thats been neglected. I just saw another You tube video of Jonathan Ko with a The Heritage he's goona review soon and now this video pops up !!
It probably seems heretical to say this but the 335 type is in fact a solid body guitar, the center block is where the pickups are installed, based on 'The Log' from Les Paul, I always think of them as being the original Les Paul electric guitar.

Problem now with You Tube and others, there is no music industry looking for talent. A lot of good musicians are getting by on you tube, its a shame.

Hi Dave, just got my H.W Revival last week, great guitar for the dosh, and I`ve already started my mods on it,
replaced the the stop tail bar, for a Trapeze tail piece, vast improvement, also waiting for a new 335 style pickguard
to turn up, didn`t fancy reshaping mine, as I don`t like messing around with hacksaws etc, I`m also replacing the V&T pots,
for chrome Witches Hat types, to keep the whole chrome vibe running throughout it.
Got to agree with ya, excellent guitar for the money.
What trapeze tailpiece did you get? I want one when mine arrives
It seems to be cherry red 335 time. Yesterday my friend gave me a cherry red Epi dot to work on that he got for cheap, thats been neglected. I just saw another You tube video of Jonathan Ko with a The Heritage he's goona review soon and now this video pops up !!

Thank you, I just bought one and changed the volume and tone controls. Looks great and sounds great.
Dave Simpson Jams in the background, Diablo 3, my happy place.
Excellent video Dave :)
I brought the sunburst non bigsby Hartwood Revival set it up now the best guitar I own 😍😘💕🤘👍
Have you managed to do a video on the Hartwood charger? Would absolutely love to see one in your hands I'm thinking of the getting the charger vibrato
Because when you don't own multiple guitars I think you get more intimate with them...I had three once and it was hog heaven!..a strat and a tele and a nice acoustic. They were all very good for me but the tele is really the one I married..
Hey Dave ... on Austin City Limits in USA had Gary Clarke JR playing your red guitar here. It’s a great ax for sure ...
Came for the review
Stayed for the music
Sounds good Dave. I've a Gretsch G2622, this looks and sounds comparable for considerably less money, and available in lefty! 🏅👍🏻
Interesting about the nut not being glued- the neck pickup on my Gretsch had been installed the wrong way round (I've left it as it is) and the nut at the high E had to be re cut. Point is, ALL brands have QC blips, and I don't consider them to be a fault either, just one of those things with mass produced goods.
Stay well in these strange times Dave.👊🏻🤘🏻
Best mod ever : put a roller bridge on it. As on my Ibanez af75tdg... No detuning problems anymore! Cost...12euro... And look how Justin Hayward playes... no string bending, Just the whammy bar... Live....the story in your eyes.. my new guitar: Hartwood Novella.. with thomastik innfeld swing 12 on IT, no need for a lgb300...
Best jazz guitar i have! Next step is a revival...
Outstanding playing fella!!
Had A TON of these. Also had lots of Epi Dots.
You're looking for the heaviest one you can find. Yes, that is correct. NOT the lightest most acoustically resonant. Those are for derps. The hardest, densest, heaviest, block.
That, plus a ratchetted down TP and 9 or 10 guage strings through a REAL amplifer (AC30 etc), will yield eargasms.
Wiesz po co masz paluszki😀
Dude I was subscribed to you 2 years ago but I lost my RUclips account and I forgot your channel name . Glad I found you again.
And such a lovely human.
Thanks Dave, good honest review, warts & all, I`ve had my eye on one of those Heartwood`s for a few years now,
and have finally decided to press the "Buy." button, (Burst Model.) and I totally agree with you regarding its pickguard shape,
so I`ll probably do exactly the same as you did, and reshape it.
Tried a few guitars with Biggles Arms on them in the past, and come to the conclusion that they`re just not my thing really,
but I might change the stop tail piece, and install a Trapeze tail plate instead, cuz I just think that looks much cooler. 😎🎸
Nice playing! Good, honest review. Thanks! Very Buddhist point of view, following your path on your journey and trusting the universe. D'adardario strings rock but D'angelico Rock strings are made by D'adario and they are SO nice!! Good call with the space rock on a 335 style! I'm going that rout myself.
