I have one of the Hartwood Revival's I've had it about a year now , and I love it. Once you get the action how you like it it play's great, I recommend it to anyone that want's a great guitar!
What a breath of fresh air to hear a demo by a real musician, country ,latino, blues , rock, that,s how to show what a guitar can do! i,m ready to pull the trigger on a burnt orange model with a bigsby,, the only thing thats putting me off is ive read a few comments about poor fretwork, nasty sharp ends etc ? what say you stratshadowman ? cheers, George.
Always wanted to play guitar so I borrowed a friends guitar to start learning on, before commiting to buying my own. Been about a month and I've decided to buy this one as my first guitar after watching a few video like this one. Thanks
I just bought one, and Kevin, you gave such an honest review and played her so lovely that I can see the guitars full potential now. Of course I play for just hobby and absolutely out of joy. Watching your videos makes me really appreciate the instrument. We all appreciate good quality guitars, but a great guitarrist that had respect for the instrument can play in any guitar. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thanks for the review. The usual set backs with a budget guitar but aslong as the neck and body feels great its still a good price. Looking at getting the hartwood fifty6
Just got emailed about this guitar and so i thought i'd check it out. Your playing is awesone brother and it certainly put a smile on my face. Definitely gonna buy one on the strength of this review. How could i not subscribe with that sort of playing? All the best Steve.
Some fine playing here 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You really give us a great idea of the versatility of the instrument. I was also not aware that there were left-handed models available. I'll have to tell a fellow guitar collector I know here in Barcelona who will be interested to learn that. Thanks to the lock down, here in Catalonia, I might just have saved enough from my pension by having zero social life during these weeks to justify adding one of these (with tremolo) to my collection. 😉
I have the RH version with Bigsby style vibrato. Took me a while to get into it, as the neck feels very different from my Telecaster. But I just bought a Spark amp, and the Revival sounds amazing on the high gain setting, pure blues tone. I still wish I could afford a real 335, but I reckon the Hartwood can hold its own with an Epiphone Dot or Casino.
Thanks for the review - I bought the burnt orange + Trem version and think it's great other than the tuning as you mention. Could you advise which model Wilkinson tuners you used please?
A great demonstration Kevin. A good range of sounds from your new Hartwood Revival, but please stop doing this to me, I don't need another guitar "hehe"
The SX guitar of mine is a 335 type guítar with gold pick ups and hardware and block inlays looks like a BB king guitar I got from rondo music in New Hampshire and shipped to my in west coast of Florida by UPS
The guitar arrrived a couple of days early. Very pleased with it. It played great straight out of the box - didn't need to change anything. A bargain :)
@@steveg3592 Thanks for the reply! Yesterday I ordered the Jade Green, and was a bit worried about it, since there are not many reviews on the Internet. It's nice to hear that you are happy with it. Cheers.
I found the 'jumbo' frets a problem, especially when playing open chords. If I press too hard on a D for example, it'll be out of tune. I plan to do some fret dressing and top-wrap the strings over the tail piece. Wish me luck!
just get mine..the green one with Bigsby..trumendous guitar for that price..I use to play and own in the past a 335 artist Gibson a 335 es classic and Epiphone Sheraton..this one is the best
Love the video! I recently purchased one to get the feel of this model guitar but upon arrival when holding the high e string on the first or second fret it buzzes and sounds horrible. Any suggestions on how I can solve this issue as apart from this, its an amazing guitar for its value
The most likely culprit is either a high fret or potentially a fault in the saddle on the bridge. I recently had to take some wet and dry to the saddle on the bridge of a Telecaster. To check the frets take a credit card and span three frets and gently rock it - if you can one of the frets is high. When you get to the higher frets you'll have to use the shorter side. My guess would be a high fret somewhere just after the second fret. As it's only on one side it may be that a fret has popped up. These guitars are made in the Far East - humid as heck - and come here where it's dryer and often you get fret sprout - the frets extend over the edge of the fretboard because the wood has dried out. In extreme circumstances a fret might become unmoored and pop up. There are loads of vids on YT addressing this so take a look - it's easy to fix it yourself.
@@pdp977 Good advice mate, it sounds like fret 3 or 4 is slightly high,,fret rockers are only a few quid now , its sometimes worth a tap with a fret hammer just before you get the files out !
I had the same issues with mine, but I ended up returning it as it was sort of an impulse buy to begin with. It most likely could be fixed, but thought I let you know mine buzzed like crazy out of the box
Mine came today with a crooked nut unplayable have to send it back im gonna try one more if that has any issues ill go for another brand not impressed at all
How do the volume and tone knobs work? Do they work like an on/off switch, or is there a gradual increase/decrease in tone and volume from 0 to 10 as you roll off the knobs!? In my expereince left ahnded guitars are notorious for having knobs that don't work as they're supposed to.
I have a Revival, and the same dealers (Gear4Music) do a case advertised as suitable for 335 style guitars. I found a local musician who was selling one, tried it out and it fit perfectly, so I bought it.
Hands down the best budget guitar review ive ever seen. Stellar playing

Hi George, mine is fine regarding frets, but if they were bad a small file would sort that real quick....take care...
The best video of a guitar review that I've seen. Articulate, precise and honest. Thank you.

I'm loving this guitar, it's actually taken the place of my gold top for home playing, it's a great fit!
Very well rounded honest review 👍thankyou
A great idea of its range and pros and cons came across 👍
Excellent review
Beautiful playing, well described budget guitar, keep up the good sounds.
Amazing playing and great review. That guitar looks and sounds good in your hands and seems better than my Epiphone Dot

Nice demonstration, Sir! I love the way a neck pick-up sounds on a hollow-body. I had an Epiphone Dot once that was a peach. Sure do miss it.
Wow that guitar is really something in your hands! I'm a lefty also, I need to learn some of those blues rock licks!
Thank you for the review and your wonderful play!
Great looking and awesome sounding guitar Kevin!
Great playing nice sound to
I'm buying one soon. Looking forward to setting it up. I'll be replacing the bridge for a roller type.
Great playing 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Hi!
Great review! Very tempted by this guitar! Does it coil split?
Basswood if you dont know come from Lime Trees - or what we in the UK call Lime trees but not the citrus tress
Great review, what settings are used on the Katana for the overdrive sound. 👍🎸

Would this fit in a case designed for a 335?
I guess it would.....
?duh
@@gw2031 How is that duh, you moron, it's an imitation. Even a slight design difference could prevent it from fitting a specialist 335 case.

What is the use of switch If it wears 2 pickups 2 tone and 2 volumes?
what is the weight of this guitar mate?
in Kg
Where did you buy this?
I cant find it anywhere
I am also left handed btw
