    What a fun color for a machine! Some lucky person will really enjoy using this machine. Definitely a girly "Barbie" type machine. This is definitely my favorite.

    Marie, have you tried contacting an auto body shop for cars to see about a stripper for metal? They may have a recommendation for you. Love your videos!!!👍💖🙏

    I use chisels and scrappers to remove the old Jappaning. Sometimes it comes off pretty easy that way plus it is a quick way to get down to bare metal.

    Sharpie has a beautiful gold and a silver marker. Yiu might be able to touch up or draw with those too.

    remember to punch the rivets stubs from the outside to the inside then let the stubs fall out. You might be able to find blind rivets (and tool) of the right diameter to replace the ones you removed. looks nice!

      Unfortunately, I really didn't think it through and once the paint was on it was too great of a danger of destroying the paint on the front to pound out ... Lessons for next time ☺️

    That is a spray I think Rustoleum called hammered bronze. That might be a cool paint job. Its a godzilla type finish

    I’ve had problems with that primer. You would benefit from automotive primer filler. It’s a 2 part.. which sounds intimidating.. but it’s super easy. Also.. rustoleum sucks. You did a lot of work to take a chance with that junk. The automotive clear coat in a cheap harbor freight sprayer works so much better just follow the instructions and measure out your mixture. I use house of Kolor. It seems expensive, but the stuff goes a long way. Your job Looks great for what you used!

      Hi there, and I have learned a lot since I did this machine. It seems like ages ago but I know it wasn't. I have learned the ins and outs of primers and clear coats and HVLP guns and chemical interactions and all kinds of things that I never even knew existed. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your knowledge.

    where did you get the tire for the bobbin winder? I have a vintage treadle Singer that needs some work and i am watching your videos to see how it is done. I know I will need one of those ;o) And thank you for the info on where to order the tools ❤ Also, I love the art work you put on!!!

    • @prometheansewingmachines
      @prometheansewingmachines  Год назад +1

      Hi Janet! I buy the tires in bulk packs on Walmart.com but if you are only doing one machine you can get a kit with new red felts, thread posts, needles and bobbin tire on eBay for about $11. I'm so glad you like it ☺️

      I know, I priced her like that because she is, unfortunately, not sewable right now and I'd have to consider her only decorative at this point. Pretty though 😊

    I don't understand why you don't just clean and oil the existing paint.

    • @prometheansewingmachines
      @prometheansewingmachines  Год назад +2

      Well, on this machine in particular the paint was terrible. But I like the new paint. I like the brightness of it. I like the cheerfulness of the bright colors. Thankfully there are plenty of people out there who love to only clean and oil their vintage machines and more power to them. The world is big enough for all kinds ☺️

      Probably the same reason I started cleaning up the old bandsaw I got then continued to completely disassemble, then continued to remove all rust.. then Continued to disassemble the motor and clean the windings and clean/grease the bearings… and now repaint the whole thing. Because Why not?
