Hi Everyone and Welcome to Promethean Sewing Machines, where I am unashamedly rebelliously creative when it comes to taking old forgotten sewing machines and bringing them back to life in a beautiful way.
    Meet my new project:
This Singer 201 will be great when it is completed, but it nearly pushed me over the edge at this stage. Paint issues, loosing bolts, the summer heat, a crazy cat. It all came together like a perfect storm. BUT once the storm passed things looked a lot better and I love how she is turning out.

I am currently doing my first one now, a 99k. I think I am in over my head on this project. Dont think I will ever do one again.

    OMG IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!

She's adorable! Well done for rising above all the initial challenges. Totally worth it 👌

While I am not at all happy that your paint crackled, I am relieved that I am not alone. I am refurbishing two machines. Like you, the paint is removed using an “E” tank. I use Rustoleum paint also. I used the Rustoleum clear coat on a 1910 Singer Red Eye with excellent results. The 1888 Singer Fiddlebase with Daisies and Roses on the other hand was disastrous. The paint went on nicely. Decals were more challenging but satisfying. Then I clearcoated. Total crackle. I was gutted. The decals aren’t cheap so it really stung. I saw your tutorial on making your own decals and it will be something to learn. Meanwhile, it will have to be stripped down again. I am giving myself time to refocus, like you suggested. Thank you for your informative videos. They gave this bored old lady the courage to try this. You and Mr. Fowler have been most helpful.

Love the machine! For lost steel parts get a large magnet and use that to scan a large area where the part was lost - you might find it. (obs won't work on aluminum parts!) As for the cat - try hissing at it when it jumps onto something. It will probably try to reestablish its dominance but that is a cat for you!

Oh - what a trial you've been through Marie! I hope it all goes swimmingly from here because heaven knows patience and perseverence like yours deserves to be rewarded. :-) Where you're up to now is looking great, and the finish at the moment is looking awesome. I particularly love, love, love the placement of the 3 arc decals on the handwheel. I sat here at my screen and said to myself "Ooh - that's pretty well perfect - I can't wait to see what it looks like once the clutch release knob goes on and it's back on the machine". So, I'm waiting with bated breath...

Oh my goodness you have the patience of a saint! I love the colour and decals. I hope she is grateful and turns out to be a billiant sewer. ❤

  • @sewterie

Great job. I love the colors and I happen to love dragonflies. Also, I was going to email you that I spotted the screw that was missing (at time stamp

I really enjoy watching you restore these machines and they are oh so pretty. You certainly are good at so many things. I can’t paint a stairway rail to look well. Love to have a machine like this sitting in my living room.

My favourite so far! If she sews well and goes to your store, I may need to buy her!💖 For real!

Bummer about the first lovely lavender color paint! I love that color.😢 SO frustrating, I imagine. She’s beautiful now though. 🙌 Congratulations 🎊

Hi dearz you are really a great artist! I have a question.i have a 40 yo maschine (working, that i use, not decorative), i love it but it is not looking that cute. I would like to spray paint it (in some places) and add some decals but i do not find the water activated ones you use. What shall i do? Use some normal waterproof transparent stickers and clearcoat it? Lot of love from germany

  • @thomasgronek6469

Great video, thank you. Have you found one brand/shade of black to be a better match to the brand or shade of the original?

  • @Kera.S.

I found an old TENNEVA machine that I'm pretty sure is a treddle. Do you know anything about them or can point me in the right direction to learn more about it. I'm having trouble finding anything about it.
