      Crash because don’t have ABS like me a week later.

    "Ride to the limits of what you can see" valuable lesson. I shall learn from your mistake. Buying a hornet this weekend all going well. Passed my test this week. Cant wait!

  • @Google_Does_Evil_Now
    @Google_Does_Evil_Now Год назад +6

    Glad you're ok. Simple lesson i was taught "only go as fast as you can see to stop". That way whatever happens you should have enough road to stop. Unless someone cuts across your path, which does happen.
    Have you done any advanced training or read the principles of ROSPA? I found the uk police motorcycle book very useful for looking ahead, looking for obstacles, looking ahead for positioning, looking ahead for saying what i can see.
    I also noticed i could ride quicker and more relaxed by looking further ahead.
    I also practiced riding to the left, to the right, holding a set distance from the white line through corners, all so i could improve my control etc.
    Your riding looks like you're close to your own limit, and that you're trying to go to the limit on the road. With such a good bike and tires it's just not possible to reach the limit on the road of the bike and tires.
    Have you seen the video of Pedro Acosta as a kid riding a CBR 600 in a car park around cones/mini roundabouts and he's getting his knee down while flipping from left hand to right hand circles? That's how good your bike is.
    I hope you understand to back off from trying to reach the limits on the road. It's exciting but not possible. Perhaps aim for more controlled precision at a lower speed, and look further ahead while saying out loud what you can see that might affect you.

    Oh man this sucks. Not optimal lane positioning but you could've still easily made it. But I understand, it's adrenaline and instead of pushing the left handlebar and looking away from that car you hit the front brakes too hard. That's why it's very important to practice emergency braking every now and then from different speeds, especially on bikes with no ABS. On the positive side, locking up that front wheel in a left turn sent you flying to the left, away from the car :) I hope you're good now and still enjoying the MT03. Definitely safer too :)

    • @iride1999
      @iride1999  Год назад +4

      Yeah true good tips there. I panicked and grabbed the brake. It's easy to say one thing and actually do it in the moment. I've been practising braking since then and hopefully if another incident comes I'll do the right thing. And mt03 is sold sadly 🥺

      @@iride1999 embarrassingly enough it was my MT-03 which only weighed 180kg 😅. I was too slow going down a sandy driveway that had deep ruts and my front tyre dug into the ground and the bike fell leaning against the bank. I couldn't pull the bike back up from the angle it was on and had to try and leverage off the bank which put my back out in the SI Joint 😅. I also have ongoing issues from a hairline spinal fracture which is making recovery of my SI Joint taking a lot longer than usual. Basically I have an old lady body haha.

    Most people let their confidence overtake their skillset when they first get a fast bike. If you're lucky you have a close call, like you did, and reavaluate your riding. Learn from it and you'll be better equipped to judge your safe road speed next time and hopefully a safer rider for your experience. It's better to back off than become a statistic.
