Hornet stay with any bike on that terrain , so much easy torque , nimble not to heavy , great view from riding position , not like sports bikes, well suited in them roads , once suspension is up to scratch , as roads on neglected side a bit

I had a hornet 2001 as a beginner bike. It handles superbly, is a good quality bike, but some might consider it a bit too powerful for a beginner bike. Lost my drivers license for 3 years on it because it always begs you to go fast with its inline4 engine. An SV650 would be a better choice for a first bike imho. Same level of superb handling, but more low down torque where you really need it . At lower revs the hornet is anemic and demands much more gearshifting than a SV650 does.
Serious riding there👍 I'm looking around for a starter bike and would love the hornet 250 but they are near impossible to get these days. There are few more 600's but it might be too much for first bike?
Hey man had the hornet 250 for my first bike haha you can see loads of videos of it at the start of my RUclips channel, and I would recommend waiting to get a hornet 250 for a first bike and then after 6 months to 1 year then upgrade to the hornet 600 when you feel you are confident and comfortable doing everything on the hornet 250 first.
Hey guys! I guess it all depends on what you want to do with the bike, if you just want to move from A to B or learn your potential on 2 wheels. In my case, adrenaline junkie, wanted a supermoto to have as much fun as possible at lets say slow speed. Got the hornet 600 cuz was cheap and for someone who never had a bike i clearly felt it was way too much with open throttle but totally manageable respecting the "law", she's kinda heavy at slow pace though. As my confidence built, so did my EGO and i began to push it a lil too much till i death wobbled on a bump after a fast corner and fucked it up. Gadly, we're stronger than ever. SOOO, imo, if you have the discipline to take it slow and focus on learning strong fundamentals, do it. If you know you're going to push it on early stages, just don't because she ain't no barbie... I ride it like a muscle bike lol. I reckon it feels better that way, rather than trying to ride it like a boyracer on gixxer or something. I have a hornet 600,900 and gsxr 600 now and yes I am fully recovered now, I am a track rider now I am currently racing in pre injection class her in ireland on the hornet 600
Hey! Im thinking of buying a hornet too ( 2000-2002 ) to commute to work everyday, I know its not a fuel economy bike of course, that would be a 125cc but is the fuel consumption as bad as people say? I've seen some people say they get like 9L or 10L every 100km.
It's not the best for fuel but that only if your having fun using all the ponies in the engine, but if you are just going to work and back and not using it like you would on the weekend then you should get good fuel consumption but be warned them bikes tend to make you want to have fun if it's just going to work or not 😂

Buy an old 2004/2006 carbureted ones (as this one in the video), it is far more fun to ride. Perhaps newer have abs to keep you safer, but no 13000rpm engine...😉😉😉😉
The older ones like this are 50 pounds less in weight than the newer 650R. Also the newer ones are rated at 95hp where as this is rated 100/102hp. So more weight and a tad less HP, go with the older model 599.
Yeah man it's good enough once you don't try to really push the limits of it, I definitely wouldn't try leaning low enough to scrap your knee then the suspension is not good enough lol but for just fastish riding it should be fine, look at all my video I'm going pretty fast in them and the bike is stock

Make sure you test drive it for a long distance and even on the test drive get off the bike and have a proper inspection when the seller isn't beside you to try sweet talk, just go over everything man and thrn make your decision

Well I started on a hornet 250 first then upgraded to the 600, but if you take it easy the hornet 600 is a very good starter bike in my opinion.

I’ve found it quite good. Possibly because I’m a new rider and taking it easy 😂 I’ve done 44-53mpg (uk) over the last 1000 miles. Average is about 50.

2nd with clutch and you won't loop it power wheelies are very loop prone, clutch ups come up a lot easier and more controlled

If you want to make the suspension stiffer you could always put in thicker oil
