Fast becoming a modern classic, Christopher Wheeldon's ballet is an adaptation of Shakespeare's late drama of the same name. The production received ecstatic praise at its 2014 premiere, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike for its intelligent, distinctive and emotionally powerful story, told through exquisite dance.
As well as a chance to see Royal Ballet dancers rehearsing extracts of the ballet, the livestream will also feature composer Joby Talbot exploring the score, and University of Oxford academic Jonathan Bate discussing the challenges of adapting works by the Bard. Clemency Burton-Hill will present.
Akane Takada is one of my favorites at the Royal Ballet, she's so captivating when she dances. I watched the last bit of the video million times already, I just can't stop rewatching it.

Akane looks more beautiful marking than most dancers do at their very, very best. She’s absolutely incredible.

Wonderful treat. Thank you. Fumi is grace personified. Tierney tells the story with every movement, including facial expressions that draw you in completely. Three very different, all amazing. Akane has a flying, poetic lightness of speed and height of jump - just joyous vigor with all the beautifully angular poise maintained 😊
I love how they allow the dancers to dance and feel out the movements instead of stopping them every minute for one note like some ballet masters...
I love "A Winter's Tale." It's a gorgeous production with drama, action, color, real emotion and fantastic choreography. Thank you for doing this insight for us Christopher and Fumi. Akane is just lovely to watch. Tierney did a great job too, It's hard to replicate Zenaida's part because she has such long specific lines. But she did well.

Wheeldon is such a genius. Three story ballets so completely different from one another: Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and A Winter's Tale. And like all geniuses, he is completely unassuming, and would probably call himself a craftsman.
Akane is heavenly to watch.

I’m convinced that Akane is the best ballerina in RB at the level and image of ballerina assoluta. She definitely is currently under-valued/promoted. Can everyone see that Akane is truly a ballet genius.
How is she underpromoted if she's a principal?
Akane is so captivating, it's a shame she isn't performing in the current run! But hope to see her back soon.

Would I have seen Akane as Juliet? She dances with such lightness
This is as close as I'm going to get to see the performance as I had tickets to watch the live link-up at my local cinema... and then all of central Scotland went in to the Red Warning for the snow and the cinema was closed! Not that I could have gotten a bus t the place if it had still been open. I don't even know if the performance went ahead itself as I believe London had some snow, but not sure how much.

Would it be possible for The RB to give us the names of the dancers in the info that accompanies this video, please. All artists deserve recognition and under copyright laws this artistic recognition is a right even if the artist is commissioned or part of a company. She was so beautiful. Her name was mentioned but it was so quick and I have no idea how to spell it so I can tell others.
