V+4=I need Ammunition (Ammo)! V+5=I neeed Transport! V+6=Taunt V+7=I need Help! V+8= I am Sorry V+9= Yes sir (confirm) V+0=I need a Gunner!
And to add to this, V5 is a meme taunt used by veterans. V1 and V6 are usually salty taunts. If someone kills you and spams V5 it's often good natured whereas if they spam V1 or V6 it's because they are salty.
I have heard people use v5 a few times but i more commonly hear v6. I've never thought it was salty though. I'm sure at times it's just people using it for it's intended purpose. I know i do :)
CT ( Complete Twat ) = Engies who place Baby Gates behind their own maxes, getting them killed while trying to "chicken dance" over them, back into cover. However, this term(as I was informed yesterday) also applies to VS Engies with Obelisks farming Infils.

I know that you touched on a couple of these, but I don't think you listed them specifically: Hard Spawns = Spawn rooms, Sunderers (Spawn options which are tough to remove) Soft Spawns = Beacons, Routers (Spawn options which are easy to remove, these can even be removed by the EMP effect of an Obital Strike) OS = Orbital Strike. Get inside a building and press yourself against a wall opposite the epicenter to survive. Inside a building, it's the push effect that will kill you. EMP = An effect which causes your HUD to malfunction, commonly removes shields and destroys or disables small deployables. EMPs come in different strengths depending on their source. Conc = Concussion Effects. Generally associated with the Heavy Assault Concussion Grenade, these cause you to feel drunk and slow if you're hit. Aiming is hard while under this effect, so find cover if possible and get out your medkits immediately. PL = Platoon Leader, in charge of up to 48 soldiers Rez Grenades (Rez 'Nades) = Revive grenades
@@durakeno5575 that depends upon who you ask. deploy shield is key for long surviving sundies, stealth less so as the stream of players coming from it will naturally give it away over time if it wasn't already given away by the obviousness of the positioning, or just some rando bored enemy player that wandered by and noticed the shimmer. that additional chunk of health that regens on its own will flat out deny any singular c4 user the kill. but good defenders should be able to take most sunderers quite easily and frequently. it's part of the reason I would still call it soft.
@@gary0044187 Those deploy shields are nuts. I saw one Sundy like that getting hammered by two tanks (Lightning w/viper and Magrider) and a bunch of heavies with Decis. It survived for like 5 minutes (it was being repaired by a bunch of engineers too)
SL = squad leader Back-cappig = when you've just taken control of a base, you moved to the next one but somehow the enemies managed to get back at the base they just lost in your favor when you were moving to the next one. This prevents you from taking control of the control point on the next base, you'll need to go back a the just taken base and get back control over the control point. This happens sooo much, so it's worth listing.
A couple that I can recall from my various times playing this game are: Shotgun Sh!tter = Ambusher Light Assault with a shotgun, usually a pump action Necromancer/Lich = Medics who refuse to die (Carapace + combat surgeon + restoration kits) Sweatsquad = Usually a small group of heavies with 1 or 2 medics who terrorize smaller fights Battle Bus = Sunderers that are usually setup to fight infantry or armor rather than serve as a spawn point Battle Ant = Similar to the Sunderer, Ants that are set up to fight infantry or light vehicles GSD Bus/Harasser = Gate Shield Diffusor equipped Sunderer or Harasser CAS Valk = Valkyries that use the Air to Ground turret Banshee/Air Hammer/PewPew = Mosquitos, Reavers, and Scythes with their A2G guns Pocket = A medic sticking to another infantryman or an engineer sticking to a max to facilitate heals/repairs Vampire = Infantry using a Power Knife and the vampire implant Overpop = A fight that has way too much population on one side Popdump = A base that usually has way too many players at it Zerging = A large group pushing down a lattice until they eventually get bored or get redirected Footzerg = A large group of players running on foot from one base to another (Most commonly done on Indar from TI Alloys to Ceres Hydroponics) Lag Wizard = Someone with very high ping Blueberry = A random ally not in your squad Darts = Infiltrator Recon Darts Mines = Tank Mines or Anti Personnel Mines Spawncamp = Attackers keeping a base's defenders trapped in their spawn room Gal/Valk Drop = A full galaxy or valkyrie dropping soldiers onto a base
Dildar is used everywhere, at some point they nerfed it a little bit, max dildar would give exact position and orientation for all infantry in a 50m radius, which was really really strong. Now it doesn't do that anymore, at which point a lot of ppl switched back to recon darts, which are more versatile and helpful for teammates as you can help them from the other side of the base.
Here are some pretty common ones you missed: - lolpod (A2G ESF with rocket pods) - bolter (any infiltrator with a one hit kill sniper rifle) - outfit types (zergfit, midfit, leetfit, friendfit, memefit, etc) - lattice and hex (a base is within a hex, the lattice is what connects bases to each other) If you want to make beacon call-outs without sounding like a neckbeard, just use "beacon up" (a beacon has been placed) and "beacon down" (a beacon has been destroyed). Usually the context of the battle explains what you're referring to but you can also clarify whether it's your squad's beacon or an enemy beacon.
Thank you so much for your videos. As a new player to this game in the last 2/3 months they have been very helpful in finding my way around and learning good loadouts strategy. Really appreciate the content and the time you put in to these videos.
Thx Cyrious for getting Ghostcapping right. A lot of players don't understand that a cap with no enemies on the base is not a ghost cap. A ghost cap refers to the situation where the base caps itself when literally noone is there. At max it can include a cap where just 1 player is sitting at a point trying to cap a base.
Ghost cap can also be called a back cap, usually in the context of another faction capping the point of a base behind you as you roll up to the next one on the lattice. It's a back cap cause they flanked you and is often used as a delaying tactic. (Stalkers can be put to use for this if ya leave em at a base you just lost)
Yep, I would love to see a creator like you do an actual video on the different buildings and areas inside them (powerhouse triage, fat stairs, lobby, etc)
Oh wow, here I've been for 5+ years thinking "ghost cap" means going to 0 pop enemy bases alone/small numbers and cap it while the enemy's attention is focused elswhere (bigger fights)...
@@sailoroftheinternet3290 I played on Cobalt since release, but beenon soltech for 2 years now, after moving to Asia. Maybe some of these abbreviations are server specific?
Honestly, the definition of zerg that always stuck with me is "A large group of a single faction whose main strength is their numbers" , carrying general connotations of being loosely coordinated, if at all. Not surprising since they tend to be be focussed around one or two large (usually open) platoons and any squads or players that tag along with that wave. I also just realized you forgot about Pizza (anti-tank mines) - or what a Shield Bus is vs A Cloaked Bus (or any of the other common load outs for Sunderers)
Heyo, entity of chaos once known as da way returning after like a year Got a new and better computer, and I figured I'd throw myself back at PlanetSide 2. Glad to see you are still making guides, every bit helps when you have my skill level lol
For me I like to specify the sundies by saying: Shield sundy(Deployment shield)/Cloak Sundy/Battlebus(Sundies that focus on infantry suppression instead of spawning people) I also prefer saying directly saying the anti infantry esf nose cannon: banshee mossie/ air hammer/ ppa. Greetings from Miller
Some of these were already said but I'll consolidate. Also Euros.. What are your callouts? BAS? Bolter or bolty-boy generally describes a cqc bolt action. This differentiates from a stalker. cloaker/infil is everything else Heavy = Heavy assault conc or conk for concussion grenade rez or rez-nade for revive grenade Who calls them sky whales anymore? Gal drop OS= Orbital Strike PL/SL= Platoon/squad lead (know your place Alpha 4 :) ) Spooky or Houdini sundie = invisable sundie. Sundie also clown car (uncommon) Zerg or pop dump = large force inbound Back cap/ghost cap = enemy is taking or took the base behind us Pizza delivered (router is placed) also waffle is ready or pancake (may be referring to mines as well with pizza) Sand castle (player made base also listed from the summer directive) Beacons are difficult. but Bacon crispy (ready/deployed) Bacon burnt (destroyed, who liked burnt bacon) Warpgated = Enemy is about to touch our warpgate and potentially cut off all our territory TWC2 Echo also uses erect and flaccid. Our female lead came up with that Some of these are pretty self explanatory but hope someone finds them useful. These along with some in the video are the most used in my circles. I'm sure you have a spin on your callouts.
Belated as this just popped into my reccomendations, but some things you forgot. Gal: Galaxy Rasser: Harrasser Mossi: Mosquito Vanny: Vanguard Maggie/Magpie: Mag Rider And a more recent one I've heard that's funny is Wheelchair: Max suit There's also Skillfit/Elitefit referring to an outfit largely/entirely composed of highly skilled and coordinated players, likewise skillball being when said outfit has a squad at your base, zergfit refering to an outfit that just has an insane amount of members and uses them to zerg bases with said overwhelming numbers and is often also used with the term "Overpop" referring to the large difference in faction populations on a base. Then there's midfit which is basically just a medium sized outfit that might have a few squads or a single platoon up.
GSD is pretty important. Gate Shield Diffuser. Allows equipped vehicles through shields that they otherwise couldn't go through, it also protects from ramming damage. Using a gate shield diffuser to get a bus inside a gate and then when the timer is up, backing into the gate can still be used as a bridge to get into places that don't allow infantry through the shields.
Not sure of anyone else uses this, but for SG a "brrrt wagon" is a TR harasser with one of those amazingly good miniguns mounted on top. We do our best to blow these up as fast as we can because of how dangerous they are
Hey Cyrious, thanks so much for making this video! I’m a lead of ASTI, an outfit that primarily trains new players on Connery, and I definitely plan on sending this video to my newer members. Definitely a useful resource for the lingo we all use. Thanks 😊
they should add an NPC named "Commander Cyrious". i joined this game because of your videos and what you've done for Planetside 2 and its community has earned you that since long ago.
Can you do an Outfit/Platoon tools and mechanics video. For people like myself, who don’t lead an outfit or get passed platoon lead often, I don’t even know what’s possible. I think for a lot of people, there’s no incentive to lead because they don’t know what you are even capable of as a lead.
Can't find fight - not good. Can find fight; it's a bad fight - no good. Can find fight; it's a good fight - good. It's a gamble, a 1 in 3 chance of fun, but that fun is seriously fun.
I've heard "bolter" used to describe slug shottys allot before. I don't recall hearing somebody bother specifying a bolt action sniper infil, only in CQC do people usually worry about the action of an enemy infil form my eperience
@@AviatorFox usually if you're bolting with a shotgun, you're using slugs so slug shottie (shawty). But yea. bolter or bolty boy for cqc infil with bolt action.
I started using the term "cloaky-boy" for infils. It started in an intense fight in TI Alloys, due to the fact I couldn't remember the word "Infiltrator" in the moment. In the outfit I am, we determined "beacon down" = it died. Utilizing "up," or "crispy," as in beacon placed. Where as "hot" means "I put it down, but don't expect it to be up for one because it's in the middle of crossfire and we need this to draw more of our guys back who just got wiped..." Good luck with the base/building stuff. I know terms change across outfits, such as the triple stack. My outfit uses "open" for the half of the triple with the balcony, where as others use "main," for that same area. Or say the power house, "long" still refers to the same spot, but for my outfit, we use "long 1, 2, 3" pertaining to door, left to right, where as others use "left, middle, right."
In our outfit we try to say "Enemy/Friendly beacon Up/Down" To prevent confusion. EG: "Friendly beacon is up." We also have Rhonda, as in Rhonda Routey. for our Routers. EG "Take Rhonda on a hot date to Ravens landing." We also say Conc, short for concussion Grenade carried by the Heavy Assault EG "Concs out" "throw some Concs in there" Being that we are Australian some of us will say Section instead of Squad, or Secco instead of Squad leader. Not terribly common though.
I really hope DBG or whatever the "new" studio is called do not waste the oppotunity to build a true successor and not creating a BR game that no one ever asked for. I don't like to wish failure on a studio but in PSA's case I will make an exception. They knew exactly what their fanbase wanted but chose to try to create a new H1Z1 piggybacking of the current franchise. I will give credit where credit is due they done well in getting new content to the playerbase in a time where the entire world was pretty much in lockdown. I keep trying to play a bit of PS2 just to be present show I still have an interest but movement and gunplay just feel so dated. It isn't unplayable but coming from newer FPS games it is really noticable. Grats to Commander Cyrious hes been pumping content out through this games highs and lows regardless.
First off, Great video! Much appreciate the time and effort... I especially applaud your take on bacon BZ Lotta stuff in PS2 can get confusing when explained or I should say expressed by veteran playa's Chance the "Rez" nade is an interesting example? Here's what fandom includes "The fuse is on a 2.5 second timer, and it will detonate to begin reviving all allies within line-of-sight at a range of ten meters. The Nanite Revive Grenade can only revive up to ten people per detonation, and cannot revive the player that threw it, nor can it revive MAXes. Players revived by this grenade will revive shieldless with half their health (250 health, or 500 with Carapace), and will have to incur the shield recharge delay. " In a worst-case scenario (You alive and all the Killers is toast) Folks are gonna need health! {Not to mention friendly max's current status...} I dunno some Heavies may wanna get up and go straight to Adrenaline (Shields may stay at zero) Fights change too What starts as one friendly Sunderer... Good chance you have just one Rez nade? Something to be said about Fresh off the Sunderer w/ full health, shield, and ammo vs. I dunno 50 meters away? Forget the fact they may already want to switch your loadout Sometimes what works shouldn't Hope new guys catch this video and not only learn but 'like' the video! For instance, stop and think how often you see engineers repairing a max for expected/soon to come damage? Hint: Did they drop ammo first thing? Good chance the engy could die to some of that intense fire intended for the Max quick fast and in a hurry... (Even just the Wrong suit/implant) Max may be running auto repair w/ emergency but he can't just dump ammo (He may need you tho!) Real chance the Max is doing it wrong if a medic needs to heal much less constant heal an engineer? Now think about times you saw a Heavy in a doorway... Caution sometimes it is a bad fail because some will go for broke Instantly stuck in a revive scenario w/ baddies seeing a green light invitation It would be nice to see it enough so that newer or even older players see it as an option (Least so it doesn't shock guys who main Heavy etc.) Along those lines please do not take my comment in reference to "how to play". Commander has chosen that task and is quite successful... It's just that I believe the only way we will see the best ways or learn the best is for folks who do not know how is for them to learn all the facts and try to accomplish the goal (Now if you see some real dumb sheet, by all means, try to stop and help explain things)
P.S. Believe you might have already answered this... Back in the day I also heard something about needing a Sundy parked on the leg of a bio lab Now I do believe there are instances on both Hossin and Amerish that require and/or can be used for access via a similar mechanism (Force field?) that takes you from the ground straight up to the landing deck Hoping you might know something better to say than I need a Sunderer at Squad WP "at the leg" or near the "force field" lulz Sounds kinda like I'm saying park it right in front of the bases Tank access Gate... If you do see some need? I realize it seems only so many folks even pull Sunderers Think I may speak for some that it may be nice to hear more on spawns or lack thereof (Sometimes I just pull a flash and boom I'm right in business...) Say my faction has a connecting point to a Bio lab Long as that bases generator is up I should be able to instant spawn there unless the ratio of faction is too much in my favor (Which also has some delay in being calculated?) I mean I understand nothing really beats bacon But even routers have some shortcomings based on numbers Guess I should be more thankful for Steel Rain Between having soldiers state they do not have a beacon and/or not listening or understanding the importance of spawning I've seen some battles end before barely started... I know you are thinking you don't squad lead much do you For a while I even stopped joining most squads Based partly between folks who don't want it and/or leave I would get stuck with it not even knowing Being somewhat tired and just trying to chill it's not easily passed off blah blah blah Must say I do enjoy the mission play tho! It's kinda extra motivation...
I more often hear *throw rez 'nades* than *throw revive grenades* or anything similar. Also I've noticed that some bases have some blinking symbol that looks like crossed electricity symbol (Google "no electricity symbol" and it looks like the first result) on some bases. What does that mean?
Spitfires are also called BB's because of the noise they make when they shoot VS are also sometimes referred to as spandex because of their spandex like clothing
There’s “nades,” which refers to grenades. Rez nades(revive grenades) Heal nades(healing grenades) Frag nades(fragmentation grenades, the starting nades) EMP nades(Electromagnetic Pulse grenades, used by infiltrators to take out infantry shields) Smoke nades(smoke grenades, they put out a lot of smoke that’s difficult to see through) Flash nades(flash grenades, they blind anyone near them, like putting Discord on light theme at 2am) Quick-det flashes(flash grenades with shorter detonation times and duration than normal ones) Sticky nades(stick grenades, used by engineers, they are frag nades that stick to the first thing they hit) AV nades(Anti vehicle grenades, they deal little damage to infantry, but enhanced damage to vehicles and MAXes, both of which they stick to like stickies)
I just realized. Tsar-42 isnt an acronym. Its just the word Tsar (which I think is either king or emperor in russian) , yeah, that makes more sense now :V
Thank you so much for this video! I was going to join an outfit from another video and kept signing up and interviewing for the wrong outfits from different servers.... different factions.... it was a mess.
good refresher for veteran players who haven't played in a while or much, the old usage for ghost cap was a base that was abandoned and you can almost afk at the base while it flips
@@Brandon34098 As far as I know, it still applies to that as well. Like, "did they just ghost cap ti alloys?". Imo it's slightly different than backcapping, in that it implies there are very few people capturing the base.
For me: Infill: Cloaker!! LA: Jumper!! Medic: Medi here!! Engineer: Engi here!! HA: Heavy here!! MAX: Big twat here!! Or MAXi here!! Saunder: Sundi or Bus. ESFs, Valkyries, Liberators and Galaxies: Air in the area!! MBTs: NC: Van over there!! TR: Prowlie in them hills!! VS: Mag just dove into that ravine!! Bastion: Bass over head!! Get inside now!! Orbital strike: OS!! Get in the corner inside!! People who run from me when I have my medi tool out and I'm trying to heal them!: "Stop running and take your medicine you goddamn dolt!!" Or "Quit your bitching and let me heal you god dammit!!" Picking some one off the floor ((Aka revive.)): NC: "I got ya lad! Up ya come!" Or "Quit nappin on the job!" TR: "Don't you die on me Soldier!!" Or "Get the hell up you lazy Maggot!!" VS: "I got you, just hold on!" Or "Come on!! Get up!!" NSO: "Beep boop, I shall heal you!" Or "Get up meat bag, there is still much Slaughter to be done!"
Alright, greenhorns, better hope you listened to your CO! Grab your MAX's, medics, and engi's and head for the nearest Skywhale, we're gonna MAX crash the point. Once we're there, we're gonna need bacon in place so medics can restock their res 'nades. Keep an eye out for ESF's and enemy Sundies, along the way
so when i say theres a bubblemax blowing out our candle - does anyone know what i say? depending on who you play with, the bacon sometimes is called candle, but i never had the problem that someone didnt know what i mean. but bubblemax: is the NSmax with that stupid bubble who instead of shooting tends to yeet those glowing things around - those dudes deserve a special place in hell if you ask me lol they scare me.
Okay context for the Word Zerg over Swarm is the Starcraft race of the same name Which focus on Mass numbers over Quality per unit Now we have my personal names for each MAX War boss/Ogre - TR Hulk/Barbarian - VS And I call the NC max the ScatterMax
Some of these callouts seem very NA-specific, don't think we use the dildar and bacon terms in EU lol Btw, "Killed Beacon" and "Placed Beacon" is faster than the full sentences demonstrated in the video. Otherwise very good summary.
we used to have "beacon up" for when a beacon has been placed, and "beacon down" for when our beacon has been destroyed or when we have disposed of a beacon. calling who's placing a beacon is important as well now that everyone in the squad can place them so "beacon up" has been replaced with "I've got beacon". sad that the functionality got nerfed years ago, but we used to call hitting air vehicles with drop pods "podding". "I podded that lib" "good job". in fact there was a time when drop podding enemy armor and air zergs was a viable way to deal with them. the loss of that functionality was a sad day for ground plebs everywhere. to wrap up the topic of pods, for the history buffs here, the first time I ever heard the term "steel rain" in this game was an outfit highlight vid by SOE where they had a correspondent sitting in comms with 666 devil dogs. their ops commander called for a steel rain of a tech plant and the squad leaders from his platoons loaded into galaxies and dropped onto the tech plant. they all placed beacon at and over 200 NC pod dropped at once on the tech plant and actually made.it look like the sky was raining steel.
I know this is a bit off, but I just watched your video of what to spend certs on. I had a question regarding construction. I really love doing logistics in games like squad and was wondering it it would at all be worthwhile to spend certs on it early.
Hello Commander, this message has been written by google translator, its content is of high quality and it teaches very well, I would like to know if at some point you can put Spanish subtitles in your videos, please.
Joshi I would love to subtitle but it just takes a lot of work that I just don't have time for sadly. It is possible for others to contribute subtitles though, if anyone else wants to try.
I've heard you call out for Hard Point, is that the hard spawn of area? Also I've heard you use Actual or Hard Point Actual, what are you referring to? Thanks Cmdr.
what you are referring to is not player used terminology but is actually the profanity filter censoring swear words. I wont translate them for you but know that words such as higby, dalton, nanites, commissioner and trusted companion are replacing profane language.
Higby was a creative director for planetside 2 in the early years, and many players blamed him (unfairly) for the games problems. His name became a profanity in game. It's lost its use as his involvement with the game fades into the past.
Nanites are an in game resource for deployables. Also used as a generic excuse for in game technology. People often blame the lore version of nanites for many unexplained things in game. Could be used interchangably with the word "magic"
I spent a lot of time in paint this monday making a building callout guide for my outfit. These are the callouts we use, they're not necessarily universal docs.google.com/presentation/d/1QzPzYXSG_VMdUudrm19CvsG45Yd_elHLecHxjiBGpE4/edit?usp=sharing
There's a few of things I think should be added to this, while the list of all terminology is a long one, there's a few I think you missed: Game Specific: PMB = Player Made Base, Initialism, pronounced - "Pea-Emm-Bee" PTS = Player Test Server, initialsm, pronounced "Pea-Tee-Ess" RDC = Redeploy Population Capacity, Abbreviation, sometimes spoken as "RedPopCap", or as an Initialism, "Are-Dee-See" when a hex has greater than ~55% allied forces and you can't directly spawn there. Game General: LoS = Line of Sight, acronym, typically pronounced - "Ell-Oh-Ess", can be spoken as "loss" CoF = Cone of Fire, acronym, typically "See-Oh-Eff", can also be spoken as "cough". QoL = Quality of Life, acronym, almost universally pronounced "Que-Oh-Ell" TTK = Time To Kill, initalism, pronounced "Tee-Tee-Kay" RTK/STK = Rounds To Kill/Shots To Kill, intialism, pronounced "Are-Tee-Kay/Ess-Tee-Kay" RTB = Return to Base, initialism, "Are-Tee-Bee". ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival, initalism, "Eee-Tee-Ay", rarely pronounced as "eat-ah"
Given Cyrious's bot gave your comment a heart 4 weeks ago but you still haven't received a reply, a "tick" is a group of resources you receive all at once. Generally nanites, but could also be outfit resources in green, blue, or purple flavor. This is rarely but occasionally used to coordinate timings, so if you press Tab to open the scoreboard you can see the time until you receive your next 50(+) nanite tick, which happens for all players simultaneously.
what is relevant in ps2? join tactical platoon and take part in big battle. the rest, getting new stuff (weapons skins), KDR, ranking, graphics, gameplay style, etc is irrelevant. you can find them in other games. those who care for those irrelevant things sooner or later leave ps2. how much time you want to spent farming ppl just for certs/fun? it will become boring. I see here still a big potential. Not in some new weapons, graphics, sites, functionalities like a campain. Most of the new players do not have a chance to experience a tactical squad gameplay. but if they do, I'll bet anything, they will stay with Planetside2 for a long time. For me it is really sad if not a tragedy, in so epic game there is no system that encourages ppl to organize tactical platoon for newcomers. i don't care if it will not be built for newbies. in fact i think it should be availabe only for experienced players. i'm not saying new players will be unable to create squad or platoon. i think about some reward system build around tactical squads. not something big but something noticeable by leader and squadmates also. something that for instance guarantee a bonus for playing in tactical squads/platoons. the more cohesion the higher bonuses. the longer platoon stays together the more bonuses it receives. also something additional for platoon leaders. high level players that can be revarded by squadmates, maybe some kind of promotions. maybe some kind of title or skins guaranted for leaders temporary. you know what means more tactical platoons? more epic actions. more people want to stay in planetside. more people will tend to record and post their gameplay epic platoon actions. and this will bring more new players
My favourite one is
"Shoot the nipple"
As in shooting to top protruding part of a citadel shield in order to destroy it

I have heard people use v5 a few times but i more commonly hear v6. I've never thought it was salty though. I'm sure at times it's just people using it for it's intended purpose. I know i do :)
Baby Gate = hard light barrier
Yes, this is a good one. Engineer Utility slot.

Soft Spawns = Beacons, Routers (Spawn options which are easy to remove, these can even be removed by the EMP effect of an Obital Strike)
OS = Orbital Strike.
PL = Platoon Leader, in charge of up to 48 soldiers
Rez Grenades (Rez 'Nades) = Revive grenades
I thought Sundies count as Soft Spawns
@@durakeno5575 that depends upon who you ask. Back-cappig = when you've just taken control of a base, you moved to the next one but somehow the enemies managed to get back at the base they just lost in your favor when you were moving to the next one. This prevents you from taking control of the control point on the next base, you'll need to go back a the just taken base and get back control over the control point.
This happens sooo much, so it's worth listing.
A couple that I can recall from my various times playing this game are:
Shotgun Sh!tter = Ambusher Light Assault with a shotgun, usually a pump action
Necromancer/Lich = Medics who refuse to die (Carapace + combat surgeon + restoration kits)
Sweatsquad = Usually a small group of heavies with 1 or 2 medics who terrorize smaller fights
Battle Bus = Sunderers that are usually setup to fight infantry or armor rather than serve as a spawn point
Battle Ant = Similar to the Sunderer, Ants that are set up to fight infantry or light vehicles
GSD Bus/Harasser = Gate Shield Diffusor equipped Sunderer or Harasser
CAS Valk = Valkyries that use the Air to Ground turret
Banshee/Air Hammer/PewPew = Mosquitos, Reavers, and Scythes with their A2G guns
Pocket = A medic sticking to another infantryman or an engineer sticking to a max to facilitate heals/repairs
Vampire = Infantry using a Power Knife and the vampire implant
Overpop = A fight that has way too much population on one side
Popdump = A base that usually has way too many players at it
Zerging = A large group pushing down a lattice until they eventually get bored or get redirected
Footzerg = A large group of players running on foot from one base to another (Most commonly done on Indar from TI Alloys to Ceres Hydroponics)
Lag Wizard = Someone with very high ping
Blueberry = A random ally not in your squad
Darts = Infiltrator Recon Darts
Mines = Tank Mines or Anti Personnel Mines
Spawncamp = Attackers keeping a base's defenders trapped in their spawn room
Gal/Valk Drop = A full galaxy or valkyrie dropping soldiers onto a base
I've never heard anyone use the term "dildar". That's awesome.
Use it all the time. might be a Connery thing but not sure
Yeah, that's a new one for me too. SolTech main and I mainly hear Chinese
I have heard it called the butt plug on emerald, all factions.
@@gary0044187 dafuq? we always use dildar since 2014, don't change it, maybe you called in that way coz you are main VS?
On the topic on ESFs, I know that the TR specific ESF (the Mosquito) is also often referred to as a "Mossy" for short.
I've heard "UFO" for the Scythe
I just call them bugs because my god, those Banshee bugs are annoying. Hits you and they're gone
the NC voice packs usually call them blood suckers, so many nc will call them that too.
Refer to the reavers as bricks personally
Here are some pretty common ones you missed:
- lolpod (A2G ESF with rocket pods)
- bolter (any infiltrator with a one hit kill sniper rifle)
- outfit types (zergfit, midfit, leetfit, friendfit, memefit, etc)
- lattice and hex (a base is within a hex, the lattice is what connects bases to each other)
If you want to make beacon call-outs without sounding like a neckbeard, just use "beacon up" (a beacon has been placed) and "beacon down" (a beacon has been destroyed).
Glad you like them!
3:21 "Van Sovereignty" LMAO
Sorry about typo!
You have corrupted our holy faction name. Unacceptable!!
Let's hope it catches on lol
Ghost cap can also be called a back cap, usually in the context of another faction capping the point of a base behind you as you roll up to the next one on the lattice. It's a back cap cause they flanked you and is often used as a delaying tactic. (Stalkers can be put to use for this if ya leave em at a base you just lost)
Ah yes the three factions. The Van Sovereignty, the Nissan Conglomerate (can't think of a vehicle type that starts with N), and the Truck Republic.
Yep, I would love to see a creator like you do an actual video on the different buildings and areas inside them (powerhouse triage, fat stairs, lobby, etc)
Commander I hate to see you in quarantine but the extra videos are quite nice! ;)
Hahah yeah especially now we know youre in the clear
Oh wow, here I've been for 5+ years thinking "ghost cap" means going to 0 pop enemy bases alone/small numbers and cap it while the enemy's attention is focused elswhere (bigger fights)...
I've always used it that way too, are you on cobalt?
Heyo, entity of chaos once known as da way returning after like a year
Got a new and better computer, and I figured I'd throw myself back at PlanetSide 2. Glad to see you are still making guides, every bit helps when you have my skill level lol
The medkit dance etc. is also sometimes referred to as Therum shuffle
There are likely a lot of players who have never run into atherum. Lucky buggers.
@@TheDanc1nghawk What is atherum?
For me I like to specify the sundies by saying:
Shield sundy(Deployment shield)/Cloak Sundy/Battlebus(Sundies that focus on infantry suppression instead of spawning people)
I also prefer saying directly saying the anti infantry esf nose cannon: banshee mossie/ air hammer/ ppa.
Greetings from Miller
Some of these were already said but I'll consolidate. Also Euros.. What are your callouts?
BAS? Bolter or bolty-boy generally describes a cqc bolt action. This differentiates from a stalker. cloaker/infil is everything else
Heavy = Heavy assault
conc or conk for concussion grenade
rez or rez-nade for revive grenade
Who calls them sky whales anymore? Gal drop
OS= Orbital Strike
PL/SL= Platoon/squad lead (know your place Alpha 4 :) )
Spooky or Houdini sundie = invisable sundie.
Sundie also clown car (uncommon)
Zerg or pop dump = large force inbound
Back cap/ghost cap = enemy is taking or took the base behind us
Pizza delivered (router is placed) also waffle is ready or pancake (may be referring to mines as well with pizza)
Sand castle (player made base also listed from the summer directive)
Beacons are difficult. but Bacon crispy (ready/deployed) Bacon burnt (destroyed, who liked burnt bacon)
Warpgated = Enemy is about to touch our warpgate and potentially cut off all our territory
TWC2 Echo also uses erect and flaccid. Our female lead came up with that
Some of these are pretty self explanatory but hope someone finds them useful. These along with some in the video are the most used in my circles. I'm sure you have a spin on your callouts.
ESF advanced training next!
oh my soul i need this🤣
Yes pls
Yeah only if he will contact air mentors for help
Agreed
Step 1: "Dont crash"
Dont forget mjolnir are called boomboxes for NC
Baby gates are hardlight barriers
Belated as this just popped into my reccomendations, but some things you forgot.
Gal: Galaxy
Rasser: Harrasser
Mossi: Mosquito
Vanny: Vanguard
Maggie/Magpie: Mag Rider
And a more recent one I've heard that's funny is Wheelchair: Max suit
There's also Skillfit/Elitefit referring to an outfit largely/entirely composed of highly skilled and coordinated players, likewise skillball being when said outfit has a squad at your base, zergfit refering to an outfit that just has an insane amount of members and uses them to zerg bases with said overwhelming numbers and is often also used with the term "Overpop" referring to the large difference in faction populations on a base.
Thanks 😊
Glad I could help!
they should add an NPC named "Commander Cyrious". i joined this game because of your videos and what you've done for Planetside 2 and its community has earned you that since long ago.
Soldier. Great to hear. Welcome to Auraxis.
*happy bonus check noises*
Thank you for explaining what a Zerg is
Can you do an Outfit/Platoon tools and mechanics video.
Boosh = ambusher jets jets. Idk might just be a HELP thing. Bolter = bolt action infil.
A video for old returning players would be great. Like the new vehicles like the ANT and routers and stuff.
Will try to get through to that one.
Where as "hot" means "I put it down, but don't expect it to be up for one because it's in the middle of crossfire and we need this to draw more of our guys back who just got wiped..."
Good luck with the base/building stuff.
EG: "Friendly beacon is up."
We also have Rhonda, as in Rhonda Routey. for our Routers. EG "Take Rhonda on a hot date to Ravens landing."
We also say Conc, short for concussion Grenade carried by the Heavy Assault EG "Concs out" "throw some Concs in there"
Being that we are Australian some of us will say Section instead of Squad, or Secco instead of Squad leader. Not terribly common though.
Already a new vid? You've been saving them up!
Here's what fandom includes
"The fuse is on a 2.5 second timer, and it will detonate to begin reviving all allies within line-of-sight at a range of ten meters.
"
In a worst-case scenario (You alive and all the Killers is toast) Folks are gonna need health! Caution sometimes it is a bad fail because some will go for broke Instantly stuck in a revive scenario w/ baddies seeing a green light invitation It would be nice to see it enough so that newer or even older players see it as an option (Least so it doesn't shock guys who main Heavy etc.)
Along those lines please do not take my comment in reference to "how to play".
That means the scu is down.
^ means either an SCU - "Spawn Control Unit" or Generator are destroyed.
Thank you both for explanation.
Spitfires are also called BB's because of the noise they make when they shoot
VS are also sometimes referred to as spandex because of their spandex like clothing
There’s “nades,” which refers to grenades.
Rez nades(revive grenades)
Heal nades(healing grenades)
Frag nades(fragmentation grenades, the starting nades)
EMP nades(Electromagnetic Pulse grenades, used by infiltrators to take out infantry shields)
Smoke nades(smoke grenades, they put out a lot of smoke that’s difficult to see through)
Flash nades(flash grenades, they blind anyone near them, like putting Discord on light theme at 2am)
Quick-det flashes(flash grenades with shorter detonation times and duration than normal ones)
Sticky nades(stick grenades, used by engineers, they are frag nades that stick to the first thing they hit)
AV nades(Anti vehicle grenades, they deal little damage to infantry, but enhanced damage to vehicles and MAXes, both of which they stick to like stickies)
Those likes are rookie numbers, let’s upvote and support this great video for new players
I'm not gonna lie, ever since rawr came back I've been calling medkits "sh!tter sticks"
Ohfuck! Sticks.
I've heard people refer to a double bull dog bus as a pirate ship and it always makes me giggle
good refresher for veteran players who haven't played in a while or much, the old usage for ghost cap was a base that was abandoned and you can almost afk at the base while it flips
could have just been a miller term when i played vs a long time ago or before the current term took over
@@Brandon34098 As far as I know, it still applies to that as well. Like, "did they just ghost cap ti alloys?". Imo it's slightly different than backcapping, in that it implies there are very few people capturing the base.
For me:
Infill: Cloaker!!
LA: Jumper!!
Medic: Medi here!!
Engineer: Engi here!!
HA: Heavy here!!
MAX: Big twat here!! Or MAXi here!!
Saunder: Sundi or Bus.
ESFs, Valkyries, Liberators and
Galaxies: Air in the area!!
MBTs: NC: Van over there!! TR: Prowlie in them hills!! VS: Mag just dove into that ravine!!
Bastion: Bass over head!! Get inside now!!
Orbital strike: OS!! Get in the corner inside!!
People who run from me when I have my medi tool out and I'm trying to heal them!: "Stop running and take your medicine you goddamn dolt!!" Or "Quit your bitching and let me heal you god dammit!!"
Picking some one off the floor ((Aka revive.)): NC: "I got ya lad! Up ya come!" Or "Quit nappin on the job!"
TR: "Don't you die on me Soldier!!" Or "Get the hell up you lazy Maggot!!"
VS: "I got you, just hold on!" Or "Come on!! Get up!!"
NSO: "Beep boop, I shall heal you!" Or "Get up meat bag, there is still much Slaughter to be done!"
Alright, greenhorns, better hope you listened to your CO! Grab your MAX's, medics, and engi's and head for the nearest Skywhale, we're gonna MAX crash the point. Once we're there, we're gonna need bacon in place so medics can restock their res 'nades. Keep an eye out for ESF's and enemy Sundies, along the way
AMS is a carry over name from Planetside 1 if we get nitpickity (new word!). Nice vid, amazing how many colloquialisms can come out of one game.
A lot of effort was put into this guide! Have my like!
Oh boy. 7 years and I never heard the dildar one. noice
so when i say theres a bubblemax blowing out our candle - does anyone know what i say? depending on who you play with, the bacon sometimes is called candle, but i never had the problem that someone didnt know what i mean. but bubblemax: is the NSmax with that stupid bubble who instead of shooting tends to yeet those glowing things around - those dudes deserve a special place in hell if you ask me lol they scare me.
They throw thumper grenades. Same dps but they actually have the health pool to make it scary.
As I said in chat, 3 waiting and 25 likes, and not even released yet. GG
Okay context for the Word Zerg over Swarm is the Starcraft race of the same name Which focus on Mass numbers over Quality per unit
Now we have my personal names for each MAX
War boss/Ogre - TR
Hulk/Barbarian - VS
And I call the NC max the ScatterMax
Dont forget, some people refer to medical kits as "Stims" or "Pixie-Sticks"
people in my circle on Connery dont call it that. just med kits. I like it but idk if it'll stick.
I remember mozzies, smurfs, elmos barnts, swagriders and blueberries
Some of these callouts seem very NA-specific, don't think we use the dildar and bacon terms in EU lol
Btw, "Killed Beacon" and "Placed Beacon" is faster than the full sentences demonstrated in the video.
Otherwise very good summary.
Ate bacon and made bacon... mhmmm bacon.
we used to have "beacon up" for when a beacon has been placed, and "beacon down" for when our beacon has been destroyed or when we have disposed of a beacon. calling who's placing a beacon is important as well now that everyone in the squad can place them so "beacon up" has been replaced with "I've got beacon". sad that the functionality got nerfed years ago, but we used to call hitting air vehicles with drop pods "podding".
As someone who's played for quote some time now, I did not know 30% of these.
"Salty OS" on he Miller server it means the Vanu lost a base.
Daybreak should really have your videos on the log-in screen, every new player should see your stuff
I've heard the term "pizza is served" or something related to pizza before. Its usually talking about the Router being deployed
I've also heard of dropping c4 as "pizza delivery", but I hear both of those very rarely
That is for anti-tank mines.
Hey just recently broke Maj Gen on planetside, the series was super helpful
You are the very model of a modern major general.
Wow, I play PS2 since day one for years and it's the first time I heard galaxy called sky-whale. It must be server specific.
I rarely refer empire specific faction NC, TR and VS.
I just refer them as Americans, Communist, and Cultist.
Not gonna lie an exhaustive list of positional calls would be fuckin Hooooooooot.
I know this is a bit off, but I just watched your video of what to spend certs on. I had a question regarding construction. I really love doing logistics in games like squad and was wondering it it would at all be worthwhile to spend certs on it early.
If you like it definitely. It can just be expensive.

Really nice vid for newbies Commander o7 !
Hey, thanks!
Great and super helpful video!
Half of these I never heard on European servers.
Great video and a comment for the algorithm.
@@CMDRCyrious I understand that it is a lot of work, thanks for your time commander.
I've heard you call out for Hard Point, is that the hard spawn of area? Also I've heard you use Actual or Hard Point Actual, what are you referring to? Thanks Cmdr.
What is higby, Nanites and other stuff like this. I was hoping to get those answered
what you are referring to is not player used terminology but is actually the profanity filter censoring swear words.
Ok guys thx for your answers
I can't get recursion tracker to show that red dot. Does it really work today for you Mr. Cyrious?
Recursion goes down every now and then but it does work now. Make sure in options you opt in to beta mode.
Well this is good information and all, but how do I survive my *500th hour*
Haha I did 5000th hour, I will try to get to the 500th.
I spent a lot of time in paint this monday making a building callout guide for my outfit. These are the callouts we use, they're not necessarily universal

I noticed a typo on vanu sovereignty, it looked like it simply said van sovereignty
I have only 1 question
What is the best implant packs to run
There's a few of things I think should be added to this, while the list of all terminology is a long one, there's a few I think you missed:
Game Specific:
PMB = Player Made Base, Initialism, pronounced - "Pea-Emm-Bee"
PTS = Player Test Server, initialsm, pronounced "Pea-Tee-Ess"
RDC = Redeploy Population Capacity, Abbreviation, sometimes spoken as "RedPopCap", or as an Initialism, "Are-Dee-See" when a hex has greater than ~55% allied forces and you can't directly spawn there.
Game General:
LoS = Line of Sight, acronym, typically pronounced - "Ell-Oh-Ess", can be spoken as "loss"
CoF = Cone of Fire, acronym, typically "See-Oh-Eff", can also be spoken as "cough".
QoL = Quality of Life, acronym, almost universally pronounced "Que-Oh-Ell"
TTK = Time To Kill, initalism, pronounced "Tee-Tee-Kay"
RTK/STK = Rounds To Kill/Shots To Kill, intialism, pronounced "Are-Tee-Kay/Ess-Tee-Kay"
RTB = Return to Base, initialism, "Are-Tee-Bee".
ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival, initalism, "Eee-Tee-Ay", rarely pronounced as "eat-ah"
Warlords Bundle.
Planetside culture
This game has so much terminology you still used terms without explaining them!
What's an armour collumn?
What does "tick" mean?
As in "one tick"
Given Cyrious's bot gave your comment a heart 4 weeks ago but you still haven't received a reply, a "tick" is a group of resources you receive all at once. Generally nanites, but could also be outfit resources in green, blue, or purple flavor. This is rarely but occasionally used to coordinate timings, so if you press Tab to open the scoreboard you can see the time until you receive your next 50(+) nanite tick, which happens for all players simultaneously.
Thanks!
Prowler advanced training next ?
its on the list.
Eve online music at 7:43 ;)
And if you don't play on any American servers, you may play several years without listening to any of these acronyms ..
yea.. even some of your building callouts. like fan and mez.
what is relevant in ps2? join tactical platoon and take part in big battle.
the rest, getting new stuff (weapons skins), KDR, ranking, graphics, gameplay style, etc is irrelevant. you can find them in other games. those who care for those irrelevant things sooner or later leave ps2. how much time you want to spent farming ppl just for certs/fun? it will become boring.
