@@saleconomos473 Jeff and Brian did a tour together that they co-headlined. I think they'd trade off closing the show each night. There are a number of wonderful videos from those shows here on RUclips. I wish I could say I got to see one of those shows!
Not many guitar players would have the guts to take on one of Brian Wilson's best melodies and give it an instrumental take- but Beck is fearless!! This is a perfect illustration of his most profound gift- taking a great melody and just playing the hell out of it. The tone he gets out of a simple Strat +Marshall amp( w/ very little FX )using his THUMB as a pick, is nothing short of Mind-Boggling! ! I just saw this show at the House of Blues in Chicago a few days ago, and it was phenomenal.
I was lucky enough to see a show on this tour. Hands down, best concert I've ever seen. Brian, the genius composer & Jeff the genius virtuoso. Simply astonishing
Jeff beck was amongst a proud few that truly understood the masterpiece of this piece of music and I commend him for his brilliance in that understanding. Your troubles are over brother Jeff, rest easy!
So many times we call what we don't understand "GENIUS". That's not the case with Brian Wilson. He truly truly is without a doubt a genius. Thank You Brian!
RIP Jeff !...........Thanks for your astonishing guitar playing !.....You'll still be listened to for a thousand years at the very least !..............What a massive loss to music !
Just love this great Brian Wilson melody and Jeff certainly does it justice. His guitar tone; the range of sounds he produces; and his feel for the music, is just unbeatable. I don't use the term lightly but Brian Wilson is definitely a genius.
First started listening to music in the 60's. Loved the Beach Boys as well as the Yardbirds and Jeff's solo albums. Never could have imagined I'd be able to see and hear them play together all these years later.
At 69 years of age Jeff Beck makes his instrument sing, whale and crack lightning during this concert on most of the selections. In this one, as usual, he stands out miles above anyone else I've ever heard -- at any age.
We were there for this performance at the Wellmont. Sat front row next to Bill Medley of The Righteous. To see Beck play Surfs Up from this 1970 landmark album with Brian on piano was very special.
This was such a beautiful performance, to me it was almost spiritual. Jeff Beck's playing. Just. WOW ! Thank you so much for posting this amazing video 👍
I was fortunate to see Jeff in concert many times, however I missed this genius pairing ... R.I.P., SIR JEFF, Love Brian Wislon and his remarkable band !!!!!
Have loved this song since 1971. Jeff Beck definitely captures the feel of this beautiful song. Absolutely unique and I never thought I'd see the likes. Thanks for posting.
So beautifully done, the only way that Jeff Beck could ever do it! At first I was thinking, seriously? Beck is going to play this song, my favorite Beach Boys song, on guitar? But he did it like nobody else can!
I am lucky to be a fan of both Jeff Beck and Brian Wilson ... quite different musical geniuses. I was late to the party with Wilson, but caught up in time for this tour. See them, and I hope they continue to make beautiful music together
That's just beautiful. I had no idea he had been playing it for so long, thinking it was a new thing he did in conjunction with the tour. One of the most interesting pairings in quite awhlile. It's great to see the pairing...two of my favorites, for sure But, I don't think they're as many crossover fans for the two. All of my buds know who Jeff is, but they don't listen to the BB's at all. A shame, of course. Their loss. All that being said..Jeff Beck Rules.
surf`s up is there with wilson`s greatest good vibrations god only knows here today heroes and villains california girls....jeff beck proves it`s a mighty melody.
I thought it was false advertising - Jeff Beck AND Brian Wilson, until towards the end I saw Brian over at one edge of stage where there had been NO acknowledgement he was there previously, at least in this clip from the show ............. WOW - Beck really is fearless as someone said earlier comment
Jeff Beck’s sound is very “surf” like, which is appropriate. This all partially works, but it’s hard to improve on the original, which is masterful. There should have been a longer finale, think.
Only Jeff Beck can tune his guitar like a violin to seamlessly transition from the violinists make it just awesome. Apparently, Brian Wilson said to him after the show, "That was pretty!" And walked straight on by. Jeff, flummoxed followed him
Nice story! Mind you, Jeff could be a bit odd himself 🙂 He'll be missed. Quite often you watch or listen to him, and it doesn't sound like he's doing much -- until you try and do it yourself! He was what we call a one-off in England. Unique, that is.
Excellent; who woulda guessed Jeff Beck guitar heavy + The Beach Boys (well, kinda) Paddle Pops all?! Jeff’s gtr sounds like his last recording name of which escapes me atm .. thumb sans pick similar 2 WesMontG. Brilliant musical moment👍
I will never get enough of this brilliant interpretation of a Brian classic. Thank you and Rest In Peace Jeff Beck.

mind-blowing
This melody is so unbelievable. When played by guitar you again become aware how absolutely unique it is.
+Miles T. Lewan
Unique and soulful. Played by an artist like Jeff Beck brings it all home.
There will NEVER Be another Jeff Beck. Still hurts
Me as well.
RIP, JB
I agree
The crowd in rapt silence, soaking in the glory of Jeff Beck's guitar imitating Brian's voice exactly note for note...stunning.
And so are the other musicians.
Your comment is so very spot on ! I felt this performance in my bones
RIP Jeff Beck. A virtuoso guitarist. Surfs Up at the Wang is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard live.
I was lucky enough to see a show on this tour. Hands down, best concert I've ever seen. Brian, the genius composer & Jeff the genius virtuoso. Simply astonishing
I was here, it was the highlight of the show. RIP Jeff.
Big fan of both Jeff and Brian. Just saw this today for the first time. Mind is officially blown.
Jeff beck was amongst a proud few that truly understood the masterpiece of this piece of music and I commend him for his brilliance in that understanding. Your troubles are over brother Jeff, rest easy!
From Jeff's mind to his fingers. You will NEVER hear anyone else like him.
well, really it's from Brian's mind to Jeff's fingers
Jeff Beck’s playing is so elegant. Man, he had taste. R. I. P. Jeff.
So many times we call what we don't understand "GENIUS". That's not the case with Brian Wilson. He truly truly is without a doubt a genius. Thank You Brian!
Saying good bye to Jeff Beck. Thank you for your posting. RIP

The laughs come hard in Auld Lang Syne.... beautiful.
Just love this great Brian Wilson melody and Jeff certainly does it justice. His guitar tone; the range of sounds he produces; and his feel for the music, is just unbeatable.
I don't use the term lightly but Brian Wilson is definitely a genius.
Hard to imagine this remarkable pairing ever taking place. One for the ages.
Oh my… I’d forgotten this opens with Our Prayer. RIP Jeff. Thanks.❤️😢
This was terrific!! Big fan of both of them!
Seen Brian many times and saw Jeff w Johnny just weeks before😢
I was sitting near where this video was shot. All I can say is this is one of the best performances of music I have ever seen or heard. Goosebumps.
First started listening to music in the 60's. Loved the Beach Boys as well
as the Yardbirds and Jeff's solo albums. Never could have imagined I'd
be able to see and hear them play together all these years later.
Wow, with AL JardIne, David Marks and the entire Brian Wilson Band. I wish I had been there.
Okay, this is incredible. I was not expecting anything at this level.

Simply the best guitarist in our lifetime. Is there nothing this man can't do? Superb

saw this awesome show at LA Greek Theatre...and seeing this performance again after 10+ years brought smiles and tears RIP JB
Brian is an angel
Simply incredible by the greatest guitarists of my lifetime! RIP Jeff! The music world has lost such an amazing talent!
Favorite beach boys song ever.... And there's so many
Glad I found this. Magic really.
sheer magic, thank you Meg for uploading. BW is a genius, JB did him justice.
So very glad I found this.
This was such a beautiful performance, to me it was almost spiritual. Jeff Beck's playing. Just. WOW ! Thank you so much for posting this amazing video 👍
RIP Jeff Beck, magical performance
Just beautiful. Interesting how those notes work as an instrumental too...
wonderful melody first class
Already a brilliant melody, hearing Jeff lay it down you realize how original Brian's songwriting and music was
Two genius. Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck.. Thanx for this post :-)
I was fortunate to see Jeff in concert many times, however I missed this genius pairing ... R.I.P., SIR JEFF, Love Brian Wislon and his remarkable band !!!!!
Amazingly amazing...in so many ways, for Brian and Jeff to even come up with this idea...
When the lyrics of a guitar "gently weeping" become masterful artistic reality.
Have loved this song since 1971. Jeff Beck definitely captures the feel of this beautiful song. Absolutely unique and I never thought I'd see the likes. Thanks for posting.
JB's use of that whammy bar is pure joy with that song.
Jeff infuses beauty into every note, perfectly rendering Brian's beautiful melody!
beautiful rendition
So beautifully done, the only way that Jeff Beck could ever do it! At first I was thinking, seriously? Beck is going to play this song, my favorite Beach Boys song, on guitar? But he did it like nobody else can!
It’s Sounds Beautiful like the composer Palestrina!!!! RIP Jeff Beck !!!!!
Fantastic guitar performance...no one put the emotion into the chords better than Jeff Beck.
Beautiful !!!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this.

Greatest thing I’ve ever heard aside from the original

Tremendous
They should have recorded this for a Jeff Beck party album. I heard him try this before but I think he almost did what he intended.
R.I.P Jeff.
RIP JEFF
The 3 incandescent cats of the age of rock around now are - Paul McCartney and these two gentlemen
