Growing up Gambit was my deceased brother's favorite x-men. Died 3 years ago. It's amazing how such inconsequential things like this character can just jump back into your life and give you a powerful memory. When people get protective over their childhood superheroes, it's this kind of childhood memory that I think of. We all have strong ties to silly things in our lives.

SilverFox is a real surname. You can look it up on google and see its frequency and distribution: Northern BC and Yukon Territory. This makes Kayla a native of where Logan's working. She is actually a half-breed (following comic book canon that is) which accounts for her complexion and height. She has always been loyal to her natives roots however. She attempts to 'convert' Logan to the native religeon by getting him in touch with his spirit animal ---- however I've never ever heard of any "native" getting the spirit animal of "wolverine". This story that she tells him is about wolves (wolves howl, wolverines snarl). For these reasons I believe that Kayla is attempting to "get Logan on her side" -- above and beyond Stryker's influence. If you consider the consequences of the penultimate battle between Logan and Victor --- one could argue that she succeeded. "You're not an animal."

If I remember correctly, X-men Origins: Wolverine is considered one of the least popular of the franchise.
the idea was that "X-men Origins: ____ " was going to be a series with multiple origin stories for the different characters.
But since this was not received well, that idea was scrapped. instead, we got the reboot through First class.

There's a line from one of the wolverine comics where a character is told he needs the blood of an immortal (the character is also a vampire nazi... comic books) so he asks where he can find an immortal.
He gets the answer: "They go to war." And that's exactly where he finds Logan, one of the most consistent things in the comics is that Logan fought in just about every (north) american war, and a lot of the things he did in those wars wasn't very nice, even before anyone knew he was a mutant or had any abilities.
"I'm the best there is at what I do. And what I do isn't very nice."

First Time I've seen someone genuinely like this film, I've always thought it was nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be - I enjoyed your reaction to it. I've always felt the two big reasons it was originally hated - was the leaked version with unfinished effects that a lot of people saw before it was properly released and the awful way they handled Deadpool. I can see why you could enjoy it better now especially after seeing the finished version (though some of the claw effects are still a bit rough) and you seeing the best way to show Deadpool first before seeing this. For me the X-men and Wolverine films improved greatly after this one - except for the last 2 (though that's just in my opinion)

32:39 Fred Dukes was known as the Blob in the X-Men comic books. Where thinking of himself as no more than an extra-strong freak, he used his superhuman mutant powers as a performer in a carnival.
The original X-Men came to the carnival in their everyday identities to invite him to meet with their mentor, Professor Charles Xavier. Who asked the Blob to join the X-Men, but the Blob arrogantly refused. Xavier then knew he had to use his mental powers to erase the Blob's knowledge of the X-Men's true identities. But the Blob had no intention of letting this happen, and, after fighting the X-Men, escaped back to the carnival.

6:44 "Reunited." Technically no since Charlie died in season 3 and Keamy arrived in season 4.
8:00 Story goes they wrapped filming the scene but Ryan Reynolds felt he could do better. He brought this up to Hugh and Hugh convinced the cast and crew to get back to the set and redo the scene. The result is what you see on screen and laid the groundwork for the perfected Deadpool we get today.
10:00 I'm just gonna confirm it for you that Victor becomes Sabretooth. Just like Iceman's ice form or Beast's furry blue form, Victor undergoes a secondary mutation that increases his animality but further strips his humanity. We know that Wolverine doesn't recognize their brotherly bond because of his amnesia. There are traces that Sabretooth remembers Logan because he always goes for Logan and makes an effort to collect the dog tags.
There was a deleted scene just after the village massacre showing a young Storm's power activating for the first time likely due to the trauma of witnessing a horrific event.
51:30 Deadpool is a special exception to the decapitation rule but that will effectively kill the likes of Wolverine or Sabretooth. If the damage inflicted is too fatal or faster than the healing process, these "immortal" mutants can be killed.
Glad you guys enjoyed it but just warning you that your opinion that it's the best X-Men film yet is a hot take since the general consensus is that this was among the worst in the franchise. Don't let that affect your stance. It's refreshing to see a more positive outlook on Marvel.
Don't know if you got there yet but thought you should know that The Wolverine and X-Men: Days of Future Past have unrated extended versions that I think are much more worthwhile than the theatrical releases.

In the comics by the mid 1960s, the Weapon-Plus Program (They are the classified governmental military science program who in their first iteration originally conducted the Weapon-I Programme aka Weapon #1 Captain America and later would proceed to conduct the Weapon-X Programme aka Weapon #10 Wolverine) had advanced to Weapon X and operated under the auspices of the Central Intelligence Agency. Several mutant operatives and test subjects were organized as the covert operations black-ops unit Team X, including Wolverine (Logan Howlett), Sabretooth (Victor Creed), Silver Fox (Kayla Silverfox) Maverick (Christoph Nord), Kestrel (John Wraith), and Mastodon. The Weapon-X programme was supervised by the CIA and U.S. Military by the military scientist General William Stryker who appointed the chief scientist Professor Andre Thorton to conduct the Adamantium-bonding process procedure who was also assisted by other key scientists Dr. Abraham Cornelius and Dr. Carol Hines to complete the military experiment when they deemed Wolverine (Logan Howlett) to be the best candidate and test subject to undergo the Adamantium-bonding process procedure experiment

There is a lot of debate over the years as to whether Vibranium and Adamantium are actually the same. If you type it into Google, most of the "official" answers will say no. But there isn't actually an "official" answer, because it's never been addressed anywhere in the comic book lore. A lot of the arguments that think it's the same has a lot of valid points, that can't be argued. Personally, I think they are they same. Just discovered at different points in time, so ended up with different names. It's not so hard to believe that the meteor that fell in Wakanda had pieces fall in other countries in Africa.

Because of legal reasons, Adamantium is like Vibranium in this universe, but couldn't be called that. Also, I believe Adamantium is not pure. It was mixed with something else.
Where as in Wakanda, vibranium can be used all kinds of ways, as you saw how Shuri used it to evolve their society.
I personally think the Wakandans have injested amounts of it because it affected the soil. Think about crops affected by it, and this is for hundreds of years...longer. I don't remember when the meteorite struck it...maybe millions of years.
Wolverine's first name is James, but he adopted the last name Logan. I don't remember who from though.
As time went on, his brother became more ferrel and forgetful of his history.
So both of them don't remember they are related, and they hate each but don't remember why.
I loved Liev Schreiber in this role. He was amazing as Victor Creed.
Many people trash this movie, but I loved it.
Although Ryan was not happy about this version of his Deadpool character, I loved the way his sword ability worked. It looked badass. And, I'm glad you remember that scene...it was the callback done in his second movie. Now that you've seen it, you'll be able to connect some dots with this movie.
The idea was that Fox studios was going to do an origin story for each main Xmen character, but I think the negative audience feedback may have impacted that decision...and they decided just to focus more on Wolverine's journey.
That always bothered me. Storm never got the representation she deserved, and they down played her powerful abilities.
She is veered as a Goddess by her Kenyan home village and comes from a long line of powerful and royal witches. She's been also called the Weather Witch.
She's so powerful that she could destroy other planets from where she stands. For example, she could remove all the oxygen from a planet if she wanted to.
I loved that they tried to introduce Gambit. But, as I said..the studio just dropped the ball. They didn't have the mindset of Kevin Feige and his team to get it quite right.
I can't wait for you guys to get to Xmen '97 animated series. That's when the other characters get some shine and respect.
I think the weakest Xmen movie for me is The Wolverine. I didn't care for it too much.
But. Great reaction. See you in the next movie.
    Cheers!😁

I really enjoy these movies, but so many bad things.. adamantium doesn't penetrate, pierce, cut, or damage adamantium. As they said in X2, once it cools, its is indestructible. The memory loss Logan has should be from multiple mind wipes during his time with Team X. The team would go out, do a mission (assassination) return to base and be memory wiped. False memories were implanted. So he had no idea what was real and what wasn't. The movies took an easy way out, but just opened up the door for more in university inconsistency. Same with The Wolverine when he fights Silver Samurai and again in Logan. Maybe Deadpool & Wolverine will fix some of this stuff.

Deadpool won the poll, and they really wanted to watch Deadpool 2 at the time. There was also at that point still no reason to force the X-Men movies in there, when they were still fully on the main MCU journey, and had a lot of other movies to watch as well.
The surprise and humor would have worked the other way around too, if people had not already spoiled those upfront about it after Deadpool 1 and 2.

FYI: Captain America's Shield is made of both Adamantium and Vibranium.
The star at the center - that's Adamantium. Ain't nothing getting through that. You can tell because it doesn't take paint.
Everything else is Vibranium. You can tell because it does take paint (Red, White and Blue: in case you missed that)
Vibranium has the VERY unique property of being able to re-direct momenteum. This is why Captain America can stand up to a tank round and deflect it.
Vibranium isn't as strong or as hard as Adamantium. This is why when you see the sheild damaged it's the peripheral part, not the star at the center (except for Thanos' blade.)
