It may be possible due to the detonation and penetration factor of the bomb? Also, dependent upon how far down in the hole his upper body was compared to the lower part. Maybe...that part of his body was just low enough...it didn't effect the pants? Or...plot armor, of course 😂😂
It was 9 words. The captions didn't include the soft "of" before "what's going on." Captions never match the audio or script exactly, they purposefully change it.
The other person Charles transferred his consciousness into was Charles' twin. When they were in the womb together they both got the same power because they are identical twins. However, due the intensity of their mutant ability only one of them had the opportunity to form a consciousness. The other twin was a blank slate this whole time until Charles moved his consciousness into his twin's body before being killed by Jean. This was a known backup plan as the nurses knew if he ever awoke, it would be Charles who implanted his consciousness.
I've been hearing a lot lately about Prof X having a sister, I could have sworn she was described as a twin as well. Is that not the case? If he had a male twin who was also telepath, and a sister non twin who was also telepath, were his parent also telepaths? Why are all their children super strong telepaths?
This seemed like a plot hole to me when I was younger mainly because, I didn’t remember any mention of Charles having a brother on standby. Maybe Deadpool 3 will mention this!

The thing nobody talks about is that Logan can feel everything, he doesn't have an ability to turn off the pain, even with his healing factor his claws coming out and even being out hurts him but he's just been able to push that pain aside and keep going
Also fun fact Logan at this point has no idea he has bone claws because as far as his memory goes back he always had metal claws and skeleton at least as of the point of this film
In the comics Reed Richard’s developed molecular clothing. Clothing that changed shape with the body. Pretty much spandex that molecularly hugs the body.
Fun Fact: Logan’s healing powers cannot restore itself so when Yashida drained Logan’s healing powers his healing powers were permanently damaged which is my when the Logan came around The Adamantium started poisoning him so much more than it was and caused him to develop wrinkles grey hair the need of glasses and Logan also developed arthritis which is why his claws weren’t coming out properly if he didn’t have a Adamantium skeleton his Healing powers would still be at full strength.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Loads, yes. And I was always the guy (before the internet had everything) to whom people would ask questions about any obscure subject, and expect an answer. Even if it took weeks or months, I would be carrying around scraps of paper with questions and answers (when found) to be returned to the askers. Sometime in the early 2000s, one of my friends told me that when he was asked which search engine he preferred, he replied, “my favorite search engine is Terry!” 😂 Thank goodness for Google, Wikipedia, and all of the others (plus smartphones on which to store Qs & As), my pockets are now empty of paper! 😁 But yes…now I probably spend too much time just following links, accumulating random facts.
16:20 It actually hurts the same evry single time regarless of his healing power, the healing power just repairs the cut of the blades through his nuckles but the pain is present everytime they come out, he just gets used to the pain :)
Hugh is perfect as Wolverine. It'll be one of the hardest recasts in my lifetime I think. Makes me laugh when fanboys get all technical about how he's too tall for the role. Yeah, have fun finding a 5'3 dude who can match Hugh's take. Suits the character being taller anyway, better than the short angry man trope.
@shinmopi Tom Hardy isn't much shorter than Hugh Jackman. 4 or 5 inches at most. Probably closer to Hugh Jackman in height than he is to Wolverine's comic height so it's a pointless thing to aim for in casting. Besides, he's currently still pinned to the Venom role, can't see him being cast for Wolverine. Taron Egerton is more likely but I'm not convinced on him in the role either. I can see them skipping Wolverine altogether and going with X-23 in his place, possibly letting Jackman see out the role of Wolverine in his last days.
@@jamesh2401 Im not sure if Taron Egerton has the biological physique to build up that much bulk to be seen as wolverine. Alan richardson (Reacher) though...he has the height, acting talent and muscle in spades.
43:55 the "Fire mode" of the sword is a reference to the powers of the comic book mutant Silver Samurai. His power is to create tachyon field around an object (commonly his katana) to create a weapon that can cut through almost anything (Adamantium being one of the things it can't cut)
1:45 yes, Wolverine in WWII! In all the textbooks! He wears Hulk tech stretch fireproof pants! And there is a ton, in the comics, of naked feral shadowy Wolverine after being immolated 🔥! PTSD is his life!
In the comics, most of the hero clothing is actually based on Reed Richards' design/creation called "Unstable Molecules", which he created for the Fantastic Four, so their outfits would adapt to their powers without being destroyed/lost.
16:15 yeah, about that healing his claw exit points, I think this movie didn't take into account some things like that or they just chose to ignore it for the sake of the movie. Much was changed from the comics for this movie, such as characters backstories, their powers, ect.
Worked in oil field for many years. We have to wear "FR" clothing. "Flame/fire resistant. Designed not to go up in flames and melt to your skin in the event of an explosion or arc flash from high voltage breakers/closets. Does it work? No idea, thankfully!
The fight between Logan and Shingen is my favourite part coz it's straight from the comics. Shingen, a master swordsman, tries all lethal moves and blows he can to kill wolverine but Wolverine is just unkillable until Logan just kills him defensively, just like the comics.
3:09 his pants are made out of special material called PG-13. Fun fact: his pants in X-men last stand were made out the same material during the scene where Jean Grey(Phoenix) was disintegrating him.
When you were asking if he'd be hurting more than normal when Logan's healing was stunted for the first time. He's always felt pain but he's used to it and his wounds usually heal too fast for him to care. Remember the first xmen movie when Rogue and Logan were in his truck? "Does it hurt? When they come out" (referring to his claws) "Every time."
Oh, for sure. I completely glossed over the prolonged pain 😢 he's lived for so long. I couldn't fathom being able to heal the way he does but then all of a sudden dealing with the pain NOT going away and lingering. Logan's already suffered so much mentally 😅 he just can't catch a break.
When Yukio says he dies with his heart in his hand, it was foreshadowed, but not in the way you think. I'll continue enjoying your reaction to this film series. Can't wait for Logan.
Wolverine in Japan is one of the best comic storylines. In comics, he goes to Japan, marries a woman named Itsu and even had a son named Akhihiro aka Daken. The premonition about Logan's death is actually a foreshadowing of Wolverine's death in the movie Logan. If you haven't watched, pls go watch that movie, you will know that by the end. Great reaction by the way...
He was part of the Weapon-X program...as well as Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Deadpool actually is immortal, his healing factor is beyond Wolverine, he doesn't age, his mistress is Lady Death, he wants to be able to not live, but unable too. Due to the improvement of the Weapon-X program and experimentation, causing Deadpool's mutation. The thing about Deadpool is he had a similar character originally from DC comics called Deathstroke, the artist that created Deathstroke got fired from DC, was hired to Marvel comics and made Deadpool.
Usually military clothing (Logan was a soldier) is very fire resistant. I'm not sure how it was in the 40s.. what exactly they used but I guess the idea was the same. Clothes that don't burn easily, dry quickly, protect from cold.
Most people think it was an A-Bomb exploding in the beginning of this movie. It was actually a PG-13 Bomb! That's why his pants were ok! The science holds up. It was all explained in a deleted scene from Oppenheimer! 😁
50 years ago, Wolverine debuted in Marvel Comics from an appearance with The Incredible Hulk to a newly recruited member with the X--Men. But in 1982, his first-ever solo series by Frank Miller (300, Sin City) and Chris Claremont (1970s X-Men) defined the character of Logan. His story was set in Japan and Logan's life was likened to that of an Ronin (samurai with no master). He has the heart to stand against opposition, but is still learning/finding a direction in life. The film uses elements from the solo series and is set long after the events of X3:The Last Stand. This is Hugh Jackman's 2nd film with director James Mangold following the romantic comedy, Kate & Leopold (2001). Struggling with Jean's death, finding his place in the world and losing his healing temporarily is the most drama. The action, romance, suspense, intrigue of being a Gajin (outsider) caught in someone else's battle really feels like the comics. 2 of the antagoniss;Viper is originally human and known as Madame Hydra in the Captain America comics. Yashida in the Silver Samurai suit is based on the Silver Samurai and Ogun characters/known Wolverine villains. A really good sequel, rightfully steps ahead of and more loved than X-Men Origins:Wolverine. But both Logan & Professor X (solo/together) would soon face even greater obstacles. The evolution was not over and I personally couldn't wait to see so much more in this universe.
2:50 it is radiation or nuclear fission... the atomic bomb with 3 impact zones. zone 1 (the center) = explosion + deflagration (everything disappears), zone 2 (where logan is located) = blast + heat + projection (everything is broken and shredded), zone 3 = extreme light ray (burning retina and skin). it is not the flames that burn Logan's body, but the radiation and the thermal ray (light emitted by any type of flame)... the flames cannot enter a closed place, without sufficient air ( to put it simply = put a flame in a large glass, it will go out, because there will not be enough air for it to remain)... therefore, to explain the skin burns and not the clothes = put a steak in a microwave, it will cook.. put a piece of cloth in a microwave, it will heat up (not burn).
I have seen this movie five times and I've never once thought about the ridiculousness which you point out at @7:46. Logan comes in to a bar looking like a murder hobo, stabs a man in the hand and threatens him with death, then a prophet comes in and predicts everyone's death in the room, AND THEN a guy pulls a gun. Bravo! I watch your reactions for these awesome insights!
Logan said in the first X-Men movie that it hurts every time his claws come out, so when he's popping them out throughout the movie when he's not healing properly, it wouldn't exactly hurt more/less
"Wouldn't it be nice if Logan could share his healing abilities." Congraduations Jax! You 'devined' the theme of this movie at only 6.5 minutes in. Either you are well educated or have natural literary talent.
Originally At the end on the plane they had a box with the original yellow wolverine suit in, but edited it out now for some reason. That was the box she was handed before getting on the plane, when mariko and logan kissed.
In the true story line of the comics, Wolverine has lost his adamantium multiple times. It started early on with Magneto literally pulling it from his body and putting his healing factor to the test. When Genesis tried to put it back into his body in #100, he rejected it consciously and explosively forced it out of his body killing anyone in the K!ll radius. Each form of Wolverine has it’s own strengths and weaknesses; the point is that adamantium has it’s benefits, but his character didn’t depend on it for over ~140 years. Per the movie story line in this storyline, Charles transferred his consciousness to the body that was his own twin (story told in the lesson) that was born without a consciousness. His mind erased the sibling in the movie storyline, although in the comic books, the twin was born with a consciousness and didn’t die; which isn’t known until much later and it’s a paternal twin, not identical twin
2:26 His pants are made of the same material that the Hulk’s pants made of. And yes, actual hunters collect the animal that they have killed, either as a trophy or as food, or both. But these guys are poachers, a completely different type of “hunter.” And I had a cat that was as big as the cat in the love hotel.
Fun fact: Logan in the comics actually _was_ a samurai in the 1800's, and a trained ninja as well. In fact comic Wolverine actually knows almost as many martial arts as Batman (different comic companies yes but still an apt comparison), his skill level is higher than his old war buddy Captain America.
I chuckled when they got off the train. They were about a six minute walk from where they started even though they were on a train heading out of the city at 200mph. That hotel hasn't been open in decades either, lol
That wasn't a hotel. The exterior shot is of the famous Nakagin capsule apartment tower which was torn down a couple years after this movie. A few people were still living there up until then.
In theory, given Charles unique mutant ability as a telepath he can influence a person's perception of reality, which means in Logan's case he likely only appeared as his former self by triggering a region of Logan's brain that stored the memory of the Professor's physical appearance as well as his voice.
I love this movie for showcasing Wolverine's adventures in Japan as is in the comics. Dealing with Yakuza, fighting Lord Shingen (straight from the comics) fighting the Silver Samurai, meeting and falling in love with Mariko Yashida (Logan's 2nd most prominent love interest)
By happy coincidence, Mister the Wolverine shops at the same haberdashery as Mister the Hulk. Mister Hulk has his trousers special ordered, made from "Unstable Molecules", invented by Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. Mister Wolverine found out about this material whilst disagreeing with Mister Hulk one day. Mister Wolverine learned that his claws could slash up Mister Hulk perfectly fine, but could not cut the Comics-Code-Approved material of his trousers no matter how hard he tried. Later in the disagreement, after Mister Hulk unfortunately tore Mister Wolverine in two, Mister Wolverine inquired of Mister Hulk where he might clothe his lower half in such trousers (after he reunited himself with it, of course). Mister Hulk was kind enough to supply Mister Logan with the name, after which Mister Hulk leapt fearfully far away.
I LOVED the character of Yukio in this movie. She was a perfect complement to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. I would have really liked to see her in other movies after she's become a bit more hardened being with Wolverine. A darker take on her and a deeper exploration of her abilities. Taking the movie to Japan was a real treat for the fans though there were a lot of changes to the source material. Great Japanese cast as well.
At the time X-Men: The Last Stand was made, in the comics Charles Xavier has a brain-dead twin brother. It was implied in the end credits of that film that Charles' consciousness transferred to that twin, which is why Charles still looks like Patrick Stewart. (Didn't explain why he needed a wheelchair, though that could likely be explained as due to muscle atrophy.) I say at the time Last Stand was made because in more recent years the comics retconned Charles to have a twin sister rather than brother. These films were made before that new character was introduced in the comics world.
41:21 "I do NOT like seeing Logan in pain." You must be constantly unhappy, then, because the one constant in his life is pain -- both physical and emotional. (There's a reason he's so angry all the time!)
Miyamoto Musashi, the greatest samurai to ever live, preferred to use two swords so he only used one hand per sword. “Hyoho Niten Ichi ryū is unique among kenjutsu styles as it focuses on the one handed use of the sword, be it the long sword (daitō) or short sword (kodachi)”
To your “Wouldnt Logan be in pain” remember in X-men 1 he said to Rogue it hurts “Everytime” the claws come out. So yes more pain than usual but not more than he has experienced before (see: staying awake during his adamantium surgery). He has been tortured repeatedly for his healing abilities.
I think most people kill bears for trophies. Sometimes hunters do shoot an animal and it runs away wounded, a moral hunter will track the animal until he finds it no matter how far that is and kill the wounded animal.
You're asking one of the most asked questions that anyone who's ever read a Marvel comic has ever asked. For decades people were confused as to how the incredible hulk would always lose his shirt but his pants always grew with him and stayed on.
19:12 I don't speak Japanese, but it's interesting that the subtitles translating it as "She was with the stranger," but the speaker makes a claw motion with his fingers and I distinctly hear the word "kaijū" which means "monster."
Explaining the end credits: They deleted the dialogue that explains this from X-3, but the body that Charles transferred his consciousness into was his identical twin brother
16:04 "If Logan is not healing [...], then how would he be okay with the [...] claws coming out of him? Wouldn't that hurt way more than normal?" No. Remember from the very first X-Men movie: he told Rogue the claws hurt every time they come out. They just don't do permanent damage to him (i.e. his knuckles heal once his claws are put away).
Yeah, that's why I assumed they would hurt more than normal. Since he normally heals from them and now he's not. So his knuckles and skin would remain damaged.
You are always so positive and constructive no matter how bad the movie is and now you finally criticize marvel.. .. for getting the amount of words wrong!!🤣😂🤣 You are a blessing to this world, Jax!
16:17 I know what you're saying here, but remember, his healing ability doesn't prevent the pain from happening, he feels a bullet just like you or I would.
Hey, just for clarifying one thing, in the next movie, Days of Future Past, he is gonna have Adamantium claws again, it was never explained how unfortunately, but the most obvious Fan theory is that Magneto give it back to him, (we know he can extend Metal even if it is like the size of an ant, or maybe Logan took his cut Adamantium claws with him and Magneto give it back to him)

Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! ❤
Never realised about his pants. After all these years
It may be possible due to the detonation and penetration factor of the bomb? Also, dependent upon how far down in the hole his upper body was compared to the lower part. Maybe...that part of his body was just low enough...it didn't effect the pants? Or...plot armor, of course 😂😂
It was 9 words. The captions didn't include the soft "of" before "what's going on." Captions never match the audio or script exactly, they purposefully change it.
You could also count "don't" as 2 words I guess
@@stiimuli or what's

@@jamesweible5357 I didn't know this until recently, but Charles has an evil twin sister named Cassandra Nova. As much as I want to look her up, she may appear in future marvel films, so I'd rather be surprised, personally.
@@TheLegendOfRandy I've been hearing this lately too. So did the writers screw up, was this different universes, stuff like that makes me wonder.

I love how disappointed she is that Logan didn't lose his pants😏
His pants are made of the same stuff that hulk's pants are. :P
It would make sense that they all have special clothing with special properties made by someone with special talents.
I'm guessing its Edna Mode.
@@stiimuli My guess is Edna Mode as well. Makes sense!
"But how are this man's pants still on his body?! You're telling me that an H-bomb just went off and your skin was totally burned off your body but your pants somehow stayed completely unmarked?! They're not singed off?! Isn't clothing like highly flammable? This just makes no sense to me! I mean...I would imagine that your pants are more flammable than your skin! What kind of pants...what are his pants made out of?"
Wow. Somebody is working overtime to rationalize their disappointment in not seeing some full frontal Wolverine onscreen!
pervs gonna perv.
That's what I have been thinking. 😅
I *really* enjoyed the interlude from Editor Jax. 😂 I frequently get thrown down rabbit holes of Googling while in the middle of watching a movie or series when something incongruous or tangential occurs to me, but this was far more amusing.
Going down Google rabbit holes is such a delightful way to waste time! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! ❤
But yes…now I probably spend too much time just following links, accumulating random facts.
Hugh is great but not perfect. He's too tall. I read a while ago that Tom Hardy could be cast as a new Wolverine.
He's also not nearly hairy enough. :p
@@marcw6875 😂😂 makeup department
@@jamesh2401 Im not sure if Taron Egerton has the biological physique to build up that much bulk to be seen as wolverine. Alan richardson (Reacher) though...he has the height, acting talent and muscle in spades.

43:55 the "Fire mode" of the sword is a reference to the powers of the comic book mutant Silver Samurai. His power is to create tachyon field around an object (commonly his katana) to create a weapon that can cut through almost anything (Adamantium being one of the things it can't cut)
Thanks for explaining that!
1:45 yes, Wolverine in WWII! In all the textbooks! He wears Hulk tech stretch fireproof pants! And there is a ton, in the comics, of naked feral shadowy Wolverine after being immolated 🔥! PTSD is his life!
Yea Wolverine has some of the most trauma and PTSD, the good moments in his life actually make it worse.
@@crystall.411 oh man! How so? Like Yuriko, Jean?
In the comics, most of the hero clothing is actually based on Reed Richards' design/creation called "Unstable Molecules", which he created for the Fantastic Four, so their outfits would adapt to their powers without being destroyed/lost.
That's so cool!!
Filmed here in Australia - it makes no sense at all that Wolverine would know a single plane was carrying a nuke bomb.
That's a really good point!
16:15 yeah, about that healing his claw exit points, I think this movie didn't take into account some things like that or they just chose to ignore it for the sake of the movie. Much was changed from the comics for this movie, such as characters backstories, their powers, ect.
Which was this comic ? Do you know it's name ?
The director of this film brought some real reverence for the 80s/90s art. Several shots are pulled directly from comic pages & covers
That's wonderful!
Worked in oil field for many years. We have to wear "FR" clothing. "Flame/fire resistant. Designed not to go up in flames and melt to your skin in the event of an explosion or arc flash from high voltage breakers/closets. Does it work? No idea, thankfully!
Don't is an abbreviation. So she counted Don't as do not, hence the additional word.
'What's' is as well for 'What is'.
@@keithboddy So the math still doesn't work out to nine!
You really think she broke up "don't", in her head, to make it two words? That's the story you're going with?
Don't is a contraction.
When they come out" (referring to his claws)
"Every time."
Yes! I do remember that. But since he wasn't healing from it anymore, I figured it would bother him more because the pain wouldn't go away.
Part of his power set is he can transfer his powers to his clothes...😅😅
We definitely need more inserted rants from editor-Jax while watching reactor-Jax 😅
Haha! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Based on the comics, he has a kid with her named Daken, who also has claws like his dad. Although there’s 2 claws on each hand
“I see you on your back, there's blood everywhere. You're holding your own heart in your hand"
So hard not to say what we really want to say 😂 but Jax deserves better.
Usually military clothing (Logan was a soldier) is very fire resistant.
I'm not sure how it was in the 40s.. what exactly they used but I guess the idea was the same. Clothes that don't burn easily, dry quickly, protect from cold.
she wanted to see him without pants on so bad she stopped editing and fired the camera back up just to rant about it😂
Most people think it was an A-Bomb exploding in the beginning of this movie. It was actually a PG-13 Bomb! That's why his pants were ok! The science holds up. It was all explained in a deleted scene from Oppenheimer! 😁
Hahaha! That makes so much sense!
Just finished your marvel list, working on the LOTR now.. Love this channel, just so comforting and your incredibly intuitive..
Thank you so much! It means so much that you enjoy my channel! ❤
If it's not too late, please do the Rogue Cut of Days of future past. The mid movie chase scene is worth it by itself. Thanks :)
31:50 Noboru was gonna say "on" at the end, almost said it, but Logan hit him in the face 😂
NGL, I was worried when Lamby was finally going to make an appearance. Yay!
The Line- "You're not the only one with gifts." that Charles says at the end, is also the first thing he says to Logan in the first x-men movie.
I didn't catch that!!!
“How to spell flammable?” had me hollering! 😂😂😂
2:26 His pants are made of the same material that the Hulk’s pants made of.
And yes, actual hunters collect the animal that they have killed, either as a trophy or as food, or both. But these guys are poachers, a completely different type of “hunter.”
And I had a cat that was as big as the cat in the love hotel.
The movies didn't explain it, but the body Xavier put his conscience into was his twin brother that was born without. This he looks the same.
He's led such a full life! That's impressive.
@@stiimuliI'm aware. Lived in the area.
In theory, given Charles unique mutant ability as a telepath he can influence a person's perception of reality, which means in Logan's case he likely only appeared as his former self by triggering a region of Logan's brain that stored the memory of the Professor's physical appearance as well as his voice.
Which one do you like?
Logan's healing abilities or Logan's pants?
I love this movie for showcasing Wolverine's adventures in Japan as is in the comics. Dealing with Yakuza, fighting Lord Shingen (straight from the comics) fighting the Silver Samurai, meeting and falling in love with Mariko Yashida (Logan's 2nd most prominent love interest)
Now, Days of Future Past. But I prefer Rogue Cut it shows everything.
Yes, you should seek out the Rogue Cut, Jax.
31:38 “didn’t you sleep with the daughter?” I’m dead 😂
I LOVED the character of Yukio in this movie. She was a perfect complement to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. I would have really liked to see her in other movies after she's become a bit more hardened being with Wolverine. A darker take on her and a deeper exploration of her abilities.
Taking the movie to Japan was a real treat for the fans though there were a lot of changes to the source material. Great Japanese cast as well.
6:05 in some comics when some people took some of his blood and injected themselves they became immortal like him
Wow! That's pretty cool!
20:10 I like to imagine that the yakuza guy is josh brolins double or thanos in human form 😂😂😂😂😂
At the time X-Men: The Last Stand was made, in the comics Charles Xavier has a brain-dead twin brother. It was implied in the end credits of that film that Charles' consciousness transferred to that twin, which is why Charles still looks like Patrick Stewart. (Didn't explain why he needed a wheelchair, though that could likely be explained as due to muscle atrophy.)
I say at the time Last Stand was made because in more recent years the comics retconned Charles to have a twin sister rather than brother.
His pants (and Hulks shorts) are... Plot armor 😂. I'll see myself out
2:12 "How did his pants stay perfectly fine?"
The same way the Incredible Hulk's pants stay perfectly fine.
32:01 is what is not what’s , nine words.
I think most people kill bears for trophies. Sometimes hunters do shoot an animal and it runs away wounded, a moral hunter will track the animal until he finds it no matter how far that is and kill the wounded animal.
lol @ the 1 minute sidebar about Wolverine's "magic" pants 😂
"No more adamantium claws"
Dude just partnered up with Magneto...
He said gaijin
@@marioallves Ah, yes. I hear it now. Thank you. I think would have translated that as "foreigner" or maybe "outsider" rather than as "stranger."
Also the end credits scene is the original "somehow Charles has returned!"
Explaining the end credits:
They deleted the dialogue that explains this from X-3, but the body that Charles transferred his consciousness into was his identical twin brother
In the comics Viper (aka Madame Hydra) is Wolverine's ex wife.
Back in the early days of Wolverine, his claws weren't a part of him, more of a tool that could be detached. Until it got retconned to organic!
@@reactswithjax Ah! Now I see your point. He's used to the pain of injury, but lingering pain is new to him.
