  • Griffin asks for your input: Should he activate RUclips memberships, the paid tiers that allow creators to offer additional value alongside their existing, free channel? Nick offers his opinions, as they review the various monetization options available across platforms.
Griffin shares revenue numbers from the monetization methods he already uses, including AdSense, and the videos he sells directly:
like his 1-hour doc filmmaking crash course,
    griffinhammond.com/crash
his 5-hour CreativeLive class, Shooting Documentary Short Films,
    griffinhammond.com/class
    and his film Sriracha.

    They also explain RUclips Handles,
    / handle
and discuss how they saved their friend’s “Hocus Pocus” projection show

Two podcasts in two days!? woo. Love the lighting nick, having the indie film background on the tv would also look nice.

I've been there for "Sriracha," GH5, CreativeLive, "Indie Filmmakers" and TheRecount, and I'll certainly be there again. I'm now a Sony user, but I've always enjoyed your skill and chuckle.

Awesome Video Podcast. Way more information than the Title suggests. Very informative. Thanks.

Yes, I think you should have a membership level. And I agree with Nick that starting at $5/month, with option to go lower, is better than the other way around. At whatever level you choose, I'm in, as I've enjoyed and learned so much from the channel over the last few years.
As for content, the 'mini docs' you mentioned sound fun. Other ideas: 1. how about a livestream as you edit? An hour or two of you talking through how you cut sound + picture would be illuminating. Probably anything behind the scenes would be interesting to your core viewers. 2. Live "office hours," maybe on zoom, where we could throw questions at you?
Whether you do a paid option or not, adding some sort of community outlet/forum sounds good. Would a Reddit community work?
And Nick, your lighting looks top-notch!

The problem is there are just too many individual subscriptions these days!
I'm subscribed to quite a few on Patreon, and the most expensive I've gone with is £5. For me, that is the absolute maximum I would pay for an individual, unless there was something else on offer with it.
I have one RUclips Membership, and they also went with the minimum option allowed, and unless you're actively producing content for the members, that's the way I think you should go.

It's better to separate this revenue stream from YT as they're a lot more finicky and as you mention you're more at their mercy if anything. Patreon seems the best from most creators, but you could also look at Floatplan.
