We have two of the rtex-04 water heaters running in series. The city water goes through the first one and heats up to 78 or more then that goes through the second one to get the water hot enough for a shower in winter. With both running, the water will reach 105 or hotter. In the summer we can get by with just using one.
@@VitosFix they aren't insulated. I don't think the water line coming from the meter is buried deep enough. If its cold outside the water coming in is cold. It works well once you learn how to adjust the knobs for a shower.
Ok Master electrician here. Make sure you have #10 wire on power lines. And a 30 amp breaker if this is a 6.5kw or less. But my question is: It is a 30 amp 240v enough for a nice shower?
Review my video at 1:30. Are you replacing your old water heater tank with this? Or is this a new install? Is it a 30 amp single pole 120v or 25 amp dual pole 220v configuration? The first setup only requires the black and the green/yellow ground connection, the 220v has all wires.
I have the same water heater RETREX-06 it's been working pretty well for 2 years. It stopped working A few weeks ago... what are the parts that need to be replaced. The breaker still good⚡️
I’m not sure what could have went wrong. Did someone turn the water off without turning the breaker off for the water heater? The heating element could have went bad, or potentially the thermostat.
@@VitosFix all i did was turned off for the summer, turned back on this fall, but only worked for like 22 days I've been searching for parts in the internet, Not even Rheem has parts for this heater.. Any sugestions.? Thankyou🙏
I need to install a Redring instant hand wash and the only wiring connection I can see in the toilet is a connection to the exhaust. Can I take connection from this spur switch to make a new for my heater ?
You can’t, unfortunately. The only thing you can do is reduce the water pressure. I bought an adjustable one that goes on my shower head, and it helped a lot. If there is too much water running through the system, it won’t be able to keep up.
I’m confused about the wiring. So it looks like there’s no neutral, based off the manual. I have a 120/30 amp breaker setup, I’m wiring black-breaker, and green/yellow-ground. But I have no power at the water heater. I’m using power from an under sink disposal outlet, would that be the problem?
A couple of possibilities. One, is the switch to the sink disposal on? Two, just to make sure you understand, this specific unit will not appear on until hot water is flowing.
For my setup, coming from the circuit breaker box, white and black are hot, 110v each. Together they make 220v. I connected white to red, and black to black, and then the ground to green/yellow. Black to ground/green-yellow, makes 110v, White/Red to ground/green-yellow, makes 110v as well.
I wouldn’t worry about 220 Vs. 240. With a 240 panel, that’s more then enough Volts for the water heater. Is this a new install or are you replacing a water heater? What wiring is currently there? What amp circuit breaker is running the new/old water heater? The biggest thing to worry about is having a big enough circuit breaker for this application. 30 amp single (120v setup) or 25 amp double pole breaker (220v setup). 10 gauge wire for either.
There isn’t an adjustment on this model. Make sure no one else is using hot water in the house. Turn one faucet on, only hot water supplied. If it doesn’t get above 105-110 degrees, then there is something wrong with the hot water heater. -Is there a temperature reading displayed on the unit when the hot water is on? -Who installed it? -Did they purge all the air on prior to turning the hot water heater on?
@VitosFix my electric boiler just crapped the bed right after my warranty went.... go figure, lol the good thing is that the water leads are flexible, so my installation should be diy on a tankless right?
@artart7943 if you have a lot of hot water usage, I would go with a bigger version. If you’re only going to have one source running at a time, this will work!
Can’t wait to have you help me install one of these myself one day! 😅Rock on Vito. Well done & helpful!
Heck yeah!

How well are the pipes insulated? I can get it pushing 115-120 with one as long as the GPM isn’t too high.

The double 25 amp setup I’m using is plenty for just one person taking a shower at a time. The single 30 amp, I’m not sure how well it performs.
The manual said use 30amp and 10 awg right? We did that but there is no power coming in to my heater?

Honestly, if you can’t find any parts, I would just replace the unit.

I would suggest running a new wire from a new breaker in the breaker box.
I have the same set up. How do I raise the temperature setting? I can only get 93 degrees out of mine. Thanks in advance.

Hey I’m having the same problem did you manage to fix it?

Explain to me how the 6 requires 220 but I only have a 240 panel? Wouldn't 240 blow it up? This is where I'm confused

@@VitosFixI'm having the same issue. The water heater reading doesn't go above 99F
Does the temperature increase if you have less water coming out?
@@VitosFix Yes! I figured that out after reading more on how it works. Thanks!
That’s good!
Are you happy with the heat?
If you’re running one thing at a time and if the faucet/shower aren’t high output, yes.
is it really that easy?
I believe it is!

Can you put a three prong plug on that and just plug it into a wall outlet? Should be able to, right? Isn't it just a 120v unit?
You could use a plug. The way I have it wired, is for 220v. It can be wired for a 110v configuration but it won’t heat as well.

Muchísimas gracias!
Mine didn’t turn on?
I’d double check your wiring and circuit breaker.
you may also check to see if it only turns on when water is running through it. Some of these I have seen only turn on when the water is flowing.
Agreed, This one is only on when the hot water is flowing.
Electric tankless units are trash. They can’t handle very much gpm…everyone who’s had one installed didn’t like it
Well, thanks for watching my content. I love mine, just wish it was the next size up.
