Gosh, I've been waiting since 2004 to understand what happened to my pregnancy. No one explained it to me. I wanted that baby desperately, but miscarried. Someone even said "oh, you just had an hysterical pregnancy " I could have slapped her for saying that. I was 42 when I became pregnant, and thanks to you, I understand so much more about it now. My Ob/Gyn at the time gave it the diagnosis of blighted ovum and nothing more. Thank you for doing these videos. Maybe now I can let go of the pain and guilt of the past. 20 years is a long time to hurt. ❤😢
@@cookierogers3912 sorry to hear, you’re not alone. I didn’t know there was such a thing as blighted ovum, all will be fine. I’m still trusting and believing God for another pregnancy.
At 31 I got pregnant for the first time in May and had a biochemical miscarriage at week 5 after Hcg decreased. Yesterday, I got diagnosed with blighted ovum at 8.5 weeks. Two MC in a row. I don’t think I can go through all that again. I am scared of getting pregnant ever again.
I’m so glad you made this video. My midwife told me a blighted ovum isn’t a fertilized egg at all so I’m not actually miscarrying or losing a baby (which I understand scientifically it’s not considered one) but it felt cruel. She said there’s no way I had a fertilized egg, that my body just made a sac. And it didn’t make any sense. Thank you for making this video!
i had a blighted ovum earlier this year - HCG was all doubling nicely and was up in the 30k's when ultrasounds at 6 weeks showed no yolk sac or fetal pole. the 2 week wait to rescan at 8 weeks was excruciating..... just to be met with more failure and misoprostol the week after. here's hoping to better luck next time
Thanks for the information. I am right now at 8 weeks after FET and My last scan showed no fetal pole or embryo in the GS. Doctor said that he cannot diagnosed a miscarriage yet because HCG is not droping and is increasing. He scheduled another f-up scan for Friday and I am doing 2 more HCG’s labs. What happens if the HCG keeps rising in this kind of possible Blighted Ovum?
When this happened to my wife, the way the nurse at the pregnancy center was way too nonchalant about telling her this happened. She was like “hmm. Looks like a blighted ovum. So we can do a d&c or just pass it on its own. Sorry about that.”
Strange that i was never scanned until 11 weeks when the spotting and a little bleeding started, and no doppler before that. Wonder if the doctor was afraid to tell me if my blood test showed a decline and was waiting for nature to take it's course 😥
Since the blighted ovum in 2021 I hv been trying with no luck, soon to undergo HSG procedure and am so anxious since a saw reviews that the procedure is painful
Same as me. I miscarried in late 2022 and couldnt conceive again. I tried IVF recently but it was not successful. I wondered why I couldnt conceive again
@@dianatay2545 Will pray for you my dear, something will finally happen. It's just that matters of conception are frustrating and a struggle but in the end it shall happen.
When I had my MMC last year, the US at 6 weeks did not detect a heartbeat and my follow up a week later confirmed the MC. The radiologist report on the scans said it was an empty gestational sac, which was very frustrating for me as I was able to see the screen for my 6wk scan and there was what looked like a fetal pole without a yolk sac. I really struggled every time someone said to me that it was an empty gestational sac because it very clearly wasn’t. There was little reassurance offered and my family doctor even said “you wouldn’t have wanted that baby anyways” (after 2 years of infertility). Sigh.
Wow. This just happened to me earlier this week and I am still in shock. I've been watching your videos all week. I had a BO from my first IVF FET with a PGT-A tested high grade embryo. My uterine lining tested fine as well. Is the cause most likely due to chromosomal issues despite the testing? And someone told me the silver lining of the BO is that there's a higher likelihood of a successful pregnancy, is this true?

Thank you doctor. I wish I could watch that explanation when I had a blighted ovum 2 years ago. Now trying with IVF after first unsuccessful transfer. But this week I will start with my second try and preparation for the egg retrieval. I still don´t lose hope, let´s see if the second round works with the better preparartion this time.

Thank you Dr Lora for many educational videos❤ I had a blighted ovum 4 years ago, thinking that I was 8 weeks but already stopped at 6 weeks

same situation, what happened? hope it turned out ok
How is it considered a pregnancy if the sac is empty and never contained an embryo? If it stopped growing wouldn't it contain an undeveloped embryo?
Thank you for watching! It’s still a pregnancy and the cells can be too small to see on ultrasound.
Your body is still also very pregnant. All the symptoms are there and you feel pregnant as a result.
