R.I P. Steve, you'll be sorely missed but the music will live on
Steve...You are one of the best performers of all time.......Can still bring class at your age...I take my hat off to you mate.Thank you for many years of great music.........
Thanks Steve
This is fantastic. I really love to see how the song evolved from this. I very much enjoyed this vid.
In the final product the intro, the pauses, the accoustic solo and of course the harmonies make the song something entirely different. I have to say Make Me Smile is a peculiar song to make it big, because the subject matter is somewhat 'obscure' unless the context is known.
Great to hear the "original" version.
timeless thank you
Effing belting! Loved that!
I love these guys so much. Gorgeous. Thanks for this.
Fantastic! thanks!
Fantastic remember. Is the music for some generations.
Just perfect.
Just Briliant ...
Great Stuff!!!
Do you still have the original guitar you used on top of the pops Steve....by the way iconic song if there was ever one ...thanks for the memories ..the best memories the 70s...take care always guys....
Soundtrack to many of our lives Steve - great to see it revived acoustically........look out for joint session in Songs from the Shed in few weeks with your mate Steve Knightley (of Show of Hands fame) and his 16 year old nephew Tom in band Morning Rush........
I'll have been a month old!
😊
Nice to see you in Clevedon my man.

A great song is always a great song, but I think Alan Parsons is credited with the arrangement that made it a hit? This is amazing though, just epic 👌👌👌
Is this the great Barry Wickens with him?
Fucking deadly. One of my favorites of all time. Sang it last week at a BBQ. Shine on Steve. :))
It's fantastic but it would not have been a hit.
I'm happy to know it, but I am happier even about the "hit" version. It is simply unique.
@MechoMadness I'll readily admit I am also rather over protective of him now. I was lucky enough to get to meet him and he's quite a classy guy. He's done a couple truly kind things for me in the recent past, and it really made an impression.
Thanks for the explanation.
@MechoMadness Don't feel too bad man! You seem like a cool, thoughtful person. I was pretty uppity and you forgave me. Rock on and be well.
What about Tom Waits or Iggy Pop?
Fantastic job, I take my hat off Sir.
Pair of Beuts me think ;)
@MechoMadness I asked what it had to do with dignity, I mean I didn't ask that other guy why he didn't like it. My question had to do with your comment. You said "Show some dignity." I asked what this had to do with dignity, I haven't disagreed with anything.
@geligniteandlilies
Thanks for the anecdote. You've made me really feel bad now. So bad, in fact, that I have decided to remove my original comment - I've never done that before... Hopefully Steve never saw it!
Nothing to do with Glam scene !!! I dont say its bad !!!! nice to see him Alive from the 70ies !!!
@geligniteandlilies
Well I admire your tenacity. Because of that, I am prepared to admit that, yes, "dignity" (and lack thereof) was - perhaps - a poor choice of word. You know how it is? You search for something on RUclips, only to find and watch something that momentarily makes you sad &/or angry. This was one of those occasions...
Where is the chewing gum?
That chewing gum was a protest that he could not do it live.
@@krollpeter how do you know that?
@geligniteandlilies
Keep your hair on (if you'll pardon the expression). I like this song and I like Steve Harley. But I hate this version and I really hate this performance. I'm awfully sorry if you disagree.
@MechoMadness Dignity, what the hell does dignity or lack there of have to do with this? It's the same fucking song to a different tempo. "Show some dignity"? How about you show some respect. Where's your number one hit and tour schedule?
That guitar sounds awful.
