The funny thing is that Shawn has 500 different titles for his video, but it always just boils down to one simple thought, which has made my time playing golf much more enjoyable. My friend is always asking me, what's your swing thought? Aren't you trying to bow your wrist, keep your elbow in, keep head level, put your weight forward, and time your hips with your swing?? No! I'm just tying to throw my stupid club down the fairway! LOL. Thanks Shawn!

This freaking video changed my whole swing. I have struggled with a reverse weight shift/over the top move my entire golfing life. I hit it pretty far and have won many long drive contests. But if I am off a fraction, it slices out of bounds or into the woods. I threw clubs in my back yard for awhile, then took it to the range and immediately hit it straight or with a slight draw. Crazy! After the first range session, I thought, maybe it was a fluke and I'll be back to my normal, horrible slice. But no! I've been back to the range three times, and it's not going away! Thanks Shawn!!
Skill acquired! If throwing the club is never going to go away and cutting grass or chopping a tree down would not go away, why would your golf swing? The fact of the matter is that your swing was never away!! It was simply on the wrong task for golf; golf is a game of sending golf balls to target and not hitting golf balls…😝Congrats on finding it finally and now let’s SPREAD THE WORD!! 😎🫶😀👍
been putting together notes from all your lessons....even used the lag club today which I juts got in the mail. 1 one key thing. On backswing. -Butt towards target which eliminates sway. I played hockey. on downswing, I think of the wrist shot towards the target which open my chest toward target and REALLY promotes the lag to give a snap/sling (which is like throwing the club at target). Was launching it today. was probably hitting 7 iron about 180 yards. Th lag club took about 15 swings before I was able to achieve a pull straight left (started off with some harsh slices) and then I dialed it back right to hit center. Amazing tool. Really liked the weight. The last element - DYNAMIC Square up. I closed the face about 30 degrees as I have a tendency to push t right about 15-20 degrees. Much more practice to go but it felt soo natural and pure contact. Either I am finally learning this or God decided to be merciful to me today
My anatomy is reacting to my task of delivering in the direction I want to start the ball and releasing in that direction! We are “Pinocchio” WITHOUT THE STRINGS; don’t try to put the strings back on and think body parts; think about what you want to do with your machine: “ I want to whip through the grass in that direction with momentum and ease and I predict that with that ball position, that distance to ball, that grip and club face relationship and this posture that the ball will get struck and collected solidly and leap into the flight plan I established.” Free of strain and control.
I have improved my swing greatly by watching your videos. I’m 15+ years into my 2 year time frame to get better or quit golf lol. But, my distance is poor. I did this on Wednesday when I played and have never hit the ball so straight and long! My teaching pro wants me move my hands left after impact and I swear this felling makes me pull my shots. It feels much more natural imagining throwing my club down the target line!
Shawn. Thanks for this. Did I detect a minor change/update? In videos before I’d swear that you said the visual focus was on the grass between the club face and the ball. In this video you mentioned visual focus was on the grass, just on the target side of the ball. Was this purposeful? Does this lead to a better chance of taking a proper divot? Just wondering…
Addendum for many; eyes on grass right in front of the ball and send those grass clippings to the target with the weight of the arms and club. BRILLIANT! Our next series on premium is going to be EPIC!
Anytime you have a question about what body part needs to do what, RELATE IT TO A TASK. See “grass whip training shawn clement” and you will see this weight shift in there as well and see how the human machine squats to the ground through gluts and quads to whip through the grass towards the target. Get really good with this task and Then feel and confirm where you are bending from to get the job done.
When I try this, that movement that you do up and down. At least that's what I see. I may collect just wind, the top of the ball, or the earth first. Rarely do I catch the ball first. you must have supernatural eye hand coordination. I've always been able to draw the ball. For weekend golfer I'm not that bad. Can shoot low 80's. When I adopted your tips on closed face strong grip with me being able to draw ball already. Every house on the left side of the fairway was in play, and I missed every green left. Now I'm struggling to get back to where I was. I must admit your short game throwing the dandelion to the target is fantastic and has helped me scramble back to the greens. I can't seem to adapt it to the long game consistently. I know it takes time to make changes. At 68, my mind body (limitations) connection is failing me. You have me hooked. I know what you teach is what I believe. Always had strong grip. Never able to throw to the target. Always at the ball. I guess when I was younger, I was able to compensate with strength and flexibility while focusing hitting at the ball. Bewildered that I can't figure this out. You are so concise. I know I'll get it. Keep the videos coming.
It is not about the positions or the making sure of the grip and club face; it is about delivering a task in the direction you want to start the ball with ease and velocity. Then you fine tune the grip and club face until the ball flies through the air the way you want. So what you need to do is get on our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and see all the “task” videos and then see the “predict contact”, the “goldie locks series” which will match up your set up to picture perfectly, and then see “target confirmation series” and “stick the finish despite the ball” to confirm you are staying with the shot all the way through and into the finish. Further down the line fine tuning would be the “pre-motor cortex series” and “kinetic chain facilitation series” and polish the shots with “fade fine tuning” and “draw fine tuning”
@@golflessons Hey thanks for the reply. Just wanted to let you know that the Goldie locks thing helped me a lot with putting and short shots. Guys I play with made mention of my short game improvement. But said to be you suck at approach shots. LOL Pretty sure I saw and viewed your videos from Jan 9th 2008 till 6 days ago. Sticking the finish is my biggest problem. Right after impact I seem to fall asleep. I brace to my target side, try to keep my left ear over the ball throughout the swing while tilting my head like Jack. I think my club selection is big problem. I never want to use more club and hit it easy if between yardages. Knowing if I don't hit it perfectly it could go astray. The mind is a terrible thing in golf. Using your method, I was able to fade the ball, just using ball position. Of course, I wasn't expecting it to work, so I wasn't aiming far enough left. I looked at your channel. I don't have a camera. So I guess I'll choose the the first selection on your premium channel. I think the closest Pro that teaches your methods is a 3 1/2 hour drive for me. If I read the info correctly under your videos. Confirmation one is doing it right is helpful. Thanks again. Doug
Always amazing tips - that have changed my understanding of the golf swings. I can now quickly address any swing issues by going back to some of your foundational tips... cutting the grass... throwing the club... strong grip
Hey Shawn, although I have adopted a Moe Norman single plane swing, I still enjoy watching your channel as your instruction is so clear and I find I can adapt it to my new mechanics… this is just a great channel for anyone wanting to improve their golf swing and you are an AWESOME instructor!!!!!!!
Thank you Joe! Much appreciated! Spent a few nice moments with Mu and was able to enjoy some awesome conversations with him on the range and under the big oak at the Royal Oak Golf Club in Titusville! Our teaching methods are on the same page of heavy hammers, and deliveries into pictures and trajectories with ease!
Very nice...good 🎥...I'd love to know more about you're grip. It looks like you keep yours more in the fingers? For an accelerating cleaner release into the ball ??
I have to watch your videos before going to the driving range to make sure I focus on the target out there and not focus on the ball. Brain washing myself with your throwing the club mindset.
We have a great 1-1 program where you can get private lessons with me at an amazing rate on our premium channel at Wisdom in Golf premium.com The best part is the feedback between lessons knowing that you will not waste time on the wrong stuff in your practice sessions!
I’m looking over and over at that right elbow of yours coming in so close to the front of your right hip and almost to your belt buckle ahead of the club. It happens so fast when you whip through that its hard to see, but I’d venture its absolutely key. Skipping a stone image may help.
We are actually built to do this! See “throw the club straight shawn clement” and find a place to do this safely somewhere with old steel shafted clubs and then check out our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and check out the new “2 pendulum swing series” which will show you how off base the general population of golf instructors has been!
Your thoughts on some teachers claiming Ben Hogan and Moe Norman had 6 degree flat irons ? Saying that was the key to there swings ? Better ball striking .
The weight floats inside the left ball of foot and then gets slammed into the ankle to engage the kinetic chain; on our premium channel, we have a series called “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” where on every rep, you get to feel the engagement from left ankle, up the quads and gluts, through the core, through the shoulders and arms and wrists and hands, through the shaft and clubhead, through the ball and into the flight plan; FREAKIN’ BLISS!!
Hey Shawn, love your videos and have watched for years. Been trying to finally change my swing this summer. Shot my swing yesterday at the range and i still chicken wing and basically going after the ball and not shifting weight fast enough. Very frustrating. I know what to do yet i still can't do it. Where do i sign up for premium content? Thanks.
Thank you sir, I’ve been watching for a couple of years and your many examples of focusing on a target somewhere down field has always resonated with me …..and yet I always need reminders. It goes without saying that you are right. Focusing on the ball as my task is always a disaster. I take a bit of solace in the fact that my favorite RUclips student ( Mu) still needs an occasional reminder regarding “intended task” from his favorite instructor….will it ever end or am I doomed? ….Perhaps marketing an online cattle-prod for those of us slow to fully absorb the mantra of “task”
Well, look at golf as a meditative process; you place your attention on task, you stay as long as you can, see what happens and observe where your mind wanders to and keep reeling it back stronger and stronger on task until it realizes that hey! I got this! And it begins to stay all the way till the end without blacking out and getting distracted and witnesses the whole swing through the release into the finish and can enjoy the flight and sound and feel of the smush it just experienced with the exchange of energy with the ball. Our premium channel has really awesome video series like “pre-motor cortex series” and “goldie locks series” and “target confirmation series” and “flow state series” and “stick your finish despite the ball” series” and “kinetic chain facilitation series” www.wisdomingolfpremium.com at only $9.95 per month (stay as long as you like) and start with choosing a task (search “task” and watch them all)
So good! I am working on hip clearance and also using the ground! Great video and exercises I can do anywhere (anywhere I have a field to throw clubs!).
Have a look at the oldie but goodie “throw the club straight shawn clement” and the incredibly important “pulling shots left shawn clement” video. Massively important to find your targets and to stop blaming the swing for defects…👊👍💪
Hi Shawn! I think Ive finally dialed in your method - but my irons specifically are all flying very low..any tips or videos I should watch to make sure im getting the correct height of ball flight on my irons?
Shawn, I tend to take shallow to no divot. I’ve found that taking one of my old golf mats to the range, and then use it by standing on that mat elevates me a 1/2 inch to 1 inch off the ground, so when I swing the club, my body adjusts to getting a steeper swing, so when I come off that mat, I’m taking a proper divot bc of that steeper attack angle. Just a thought and a DIY fix.
I remember throwing clubs with Shawn 7 years ago at Richmond Hill, my first club throw stuck in the chicken wire fence about 30 feet off the ground. I got better after that.
Little late getting here. A quick question for ya Shawn. Is weight shift and swinging "thru the ball" linked? Ie if you shift at the right time chances are you will swing through to your target where as if you don't time the shift correctly you're more likely to hit at the ball and feel that "blocked" sensation in your swing. I'm pretty sure I don't shift correctly cos my distance is lacking and I'm likely hitting at the ball still. Any thoughts on this? By the way those real feel golf mats are the ticket for a practice surface thanks for directing me there.
Hi Frank! You have it upside down!! Please see the “throw the club” and “the throwing series” as well as the “kinetic chain facilitation series” on our premium channel and understand that when you throw the club in the direction you want to start the ball, your brain HAS TO SHIFT THE WEIGHT TO THE LEAD LEG TO CLEAR THE HIPS THE AMOUNT NEEDED TO ACCESS THE TARGET. Of the ball is your target, YOU ARE LOST!! To even THINK ABOUT HOW TO SHIFT OR WHEN TO SHIFT IS EPIC SABOTAGE to your golf swing. If you are not on our premium channel, see “throw the club straight shawn clement” and then get your butt to www.wisdomingolfpremium.com for the titles above.
Thanks for all your help Shawn! I used to jump around a lot on RUclips but I realized i was hurting my game more than helping it. Since I started listening and watching my game has never been better. I appreciate all the free content you give and your simple ways of getting the message across to us. Keeping things simple is the best approach when it comes to my game. Why do ppl throw the club way left of target when they do this drill for right handers? Cant be because the target is the ball cuz there isnt a ball there.... appreciate your work as always. Also the take away is a huge problem for most amateurs and doing the perpetual drill or swinging to see the arc blur is great but once over the ball and so.ewhat static the backswing can be manipulated from old habits.... any tips? NEITHER!!! There is 30 yards AVERAGE distance (can be more) between AT THE BALL and THROUGH THE BALL! When you deliver speed through the ball, you are collecting the ball from where it lies and releasing it out into the flight plan.
Shawn I just got a quick question, I have been playing a weak grip while bowing my lead wrist to help square the club face, but now my wrist is getting to where it hurts, so I want to adopt your daughters way of gripping the club, does she set the club at 45 degrees closed and then grip it with a strong grip or grip it with the club square at address? Thanks Shawn! Enjoying the content and just subscribed

Shawn, I am a huge fan and watch all of your vids for tips. This yr I have shot the two best scores that I have ever shot - one beating par on the course - but recently I have developed a little hook with the woods: any tips, Shawn? You and your team are fantastic - keep up the great work.
@@golflessons Certainly will, I'm going all in on the new grip as I've noticed some occasional leaks to the right off the tee.. BUT, I know that's because I'm getting through to my target.. I played an amazing intentional hook out of the trees in my last round about 100 yards out. Most would have just chipped out.. Instead I set the ball back of centre, picked a start line and toed the face in by 45 degrees and swung low to the right of my intermediate target to avoid any branches, half swung 7I RESULT > a 90 degree hook that rolled passed the pin by 1 cup.. My friends couldn't believe it!! I'm definitely a Wisdom in Golf student for life! Thank you 🏌️♂️
Shawn, I’ve been watching your videos for several months now. And while I’ve learned a ton (and even contemplated a trip to the North for in person)…I’m concerned you seem overly obsessed with speed and distance. This should be a byproduct of swing path, arc, etc and everyone is different anatomically. Chasing speed hasn’t served Bryson well, messed up Rory’s game etc. Are you just chasing speed and carry for your students?
What I don't understand is, why would you not subscribe if you watch the videos? It's so simple and doesn't affect anything negatively on our end. It only helps the channel owners and helps them put out good content that we're watching anyway.
W. I. G. has changed my game. For the first time in 9 years of playing, I actually look like a 52 year old golfer with at least SOME skill out there on the course. "Don't you feel like you can whip the snot out of it from here?" - S. Clement Yes, I do. 🙂🏌🏽♂️

Doug
Do you recommend a short pause at the top of the back swing and why?
The pause happens as a result of staying with the task of throwing the club to the target with ease!
Shawn , most useful for most gains : Swing Caddie Grass whip or Lag shot
Swing Caddy, then grass whip; then lagshot
Always amazing tips - that have changed my understanding of the golf swings. I can now quickly address any swing issues by going back to some of your foundational tips... cutting the grass... throwing the club... strong grip
Right on Ross! 😀👍🫶
Hi Shawn, is this the same for both a one and two plane swing?
Same for every human being on the planet!😝😝👌👍
Very nice...good 🎥...I'd love to know more about you're grip. It looks like you keep yours more in the fingers? For an accelerating cleaner release into the ball ??
See “best video on grip ever shawn clement” and all my grip videos; you will see we have mastered it and how to communicate it. THE ULTIMATE BASE!
I have to watch your videos before going to the driving range to make sure I focus on the target out there and not focus on the ball. Brain washing myself with your throwing the club mindset.
this is why golf is an amazing meditation for me; not a chaotic thinking black hole!
I hope to get a in person from you one day. Cool dude.
We have a great 1-1 program where you can get private lessons with me at an amazing rate on our premium channel at Wisdom in Golf premium.com
The best part is the feedback between lessons knowing that you will not waste time on the wrong stuff in your practice sessions!
Question on hip turn. What I liked about your methods is hip turn clears out the body. Totally makes sense. Do you believe the hip shifts then turns
See “best way to shift weight take a walk shawn clement”
Your thoughts on some teachers claiming Ben Hogan and Moe Norman had 6 degree flat irons ? Saying that was the key to there swings ? Better ball striking .
Cannot confirm those claims…
so initially does the weight go to the toes of the lead foot in downswing and then transfer to the heal?
Thanks.

Shawn , Still using the Claw pro golf glove or found better ?
good glove! I am with Callaway for everything now; very happy with their gloves!
Thank you sir,
I’ve been watching for a couple of years and your many examples of focusing on a target somewhere down field has always resonated with me …..and yet I always need reminders.
Our premium channel has really awesome video series like “pre-motor cortex series” and “goldie locks series” and “target confirmation series” and “flow state series” and “stick your finish despite the ball” series” and “kinetic chain facilitation series”
www.wisdomingolfpremium.com at only $9.95 per month (stay as long as you like) and start with choosing a task (search “task” and watch them all)
When hitting driver what am I looking at before the ball or after the ball
This will be a major subject in our new series on premium!
So good! I am working on hip clearance and also using the ground! Great video and exercises I can do anywhere (anywhere I have a field to throw clubs!).
you cannot do it wrong when throwing towards a target!
I want to make sure I have this correct. Your task is to throw the club at the target, not parallel left along your stance line, Correct?
Have a look at the oldie but goodie “throw the club straight shawn clement” and the incredibly important “pulling shots left shawn clement” video. Massively important to find your targets and to stop blaming the swing for defects…👊👍💪
Hi Shawn! I think Ive finally dialed in your method - but my irons specifically are all flying very low..any tips or videos I should watch to make sure im getting the correct height of ball flight on my irons?
See “best lesson I ever got from Moe Norman shawn clement”
Shawn, I tend to take shallow to no divot. I’ve found that taking one of my old golf mats to the range, and then use it by standing on that mat elevates me a 1/2 inch to 1 inch off the ground, so when I swing the club, my body adjusts to getting a steeper swing, so when I come off that mat, I’m taking a proper divot bc of that steeper attack angle. Just a thought and a DIY fix.
Hey Jeff! See our “strike your irons pure shawn clement” videos where we do the “2 tee drill” and the “2 ball drill” which are fantastic for this
I remember throwing clubs with Shawn 7 years ago at Richmond Hill, my first club throw stuck in the chicken wire fence about 30 feet off the ground. I got better after that.
Haha! Not the first one or the last one to do that! 😀👍
Thanks and cheers from Albany New York!
Right on! Got a student from NYC this week in the house; make sure you listen to the podcast this week!
Another tremendous video, Shawn. Really changing my thought process. I can't wait to put these ideas into practice at the range and see what happens!
Let us know how you do Higgo! 👍👌
When I lead with my shoulders to do down I hook but if I shift and let gravity take it’s a solid shot
You are not defective! See “throw the club straight shawn clement”
Why do ppl throw the club way left of target when they do this drill for right handers? Cant be because the target is the ball cuz there isnt a ball there.... appreciate your work as always. Also the take away is a huge problem for most amateurs and doing the perpetual drill or swinging to see the arc blur is great but once over the ball and so.ewhat static the backswing can be manipulated from old habits.... any tips? Ty sir
If you liked the content in this video, you will love what we have available in our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com where when you join our “Par” program, you will receive a FREE SWING ANALYSIS worth $59.95 where one of our Wisdom in Golf Team members will analyse a face on and down the line swing clip that you will send in to a special email we will send you when you sign up. That is $120.00 of value for the price of the Par membership; and this at only $9.95 per month! Let’s go!
I am curious, is the distance gained with your method because you are gaining ball speed or because you are delofting the club?
NEITHER!!! There is 30 yards AVERAGE distance (can be more) between AT THE BALL and THROUGH THE BALL! When you deliver speed through the ball, you are collecting the ball from where it lies and releasing it out into the flight plan.
@@golflessons but with all that shaft lean you’re still delofting the club , no?

Awesome video, loving the premium channel 🏌️♂️
Right on Paul! Keep us posted on your progress!
Instead I set the ball back of centre, picked a start line and toed the face in by 45 degrees and swung low to the right of my intermediate target to avoid any branches, half swung 7I
RESULT > a 90 degree hook that rolled passed the pin by 1 cup..
My friends couldn't believe it!!
I'm definitely a Wisdom in Golf student for life! Thank you 🏌️♂️

Just made me smile! 😀😀
That scared me when you threw the club down and it bounced right next to your GCQuad lol
the Quad is a tough customer! I have has 2 or 3 students toe shots into it pretty good and still going strong after 5 years!
I often find myself flinching at the anticipation of contact when hitting my irons if I don't lock in on going at the target.
Stay on target! Next series on premium will be solid! You saw “stick your finish despite the ball” series right?
Your right elbow looks like right elbow is in front of right hip with forearm or palm facing sky
exactly! just like a lumber jack with an axe to the side of the tree and a baseball player hitting over the pitcher’s head high into centre field!
The difference is I chase mine EFFORTLESSLY!!!! 1/10 effort to get 8/10 velocity!! LOW STRAIN-LOW EFFORT-RIDICULOUSLY EASY!!!

Throwing the golf club is the secret to learning how to play golf over planet Earth and not into planet Earth.
Eyes in front of ball?
Works for many! Send the grass clippings front the front of the ball to the direction you want the ball to start; ball will get in the way!
Nice Beard
Who picks up all those clubs you keep throwing down the range? 😜🤣
A good worth while walk!😀👍
You did not carry that 206. Not with that swing.
Sorry dude! It’s all real; and I can turn around and do it left handed too; this is the most efficient way to swing; just like Bubba and Jack!
