In Episode 1 of Overlooked, VICE follows forensic anthropologist Kate Spradley and her team to Brooks County, one of the deadliest stretches of the Texas migration corridor, as they exhume the bodies of migrants in hopes of identifying them for their families, and highlighting how Texas law is not being followed in some counties.

I have met some forensic criminal investigators before, who do not get emotional at all in their line of work, as well as some great morticians who also do not become emotional when dealing with the horrible things that they deal with. This does not mean that they don't care, but some people won't get emotional so as to maintain a clear headspace. So long as people do the job and do it well with the right intentions, then showing emotion is not important in terms of doing the job properly and may actually in some circumstances affect how well you do your job (especially when it comes to child cases 😔 ) I am a law student and a criminology student in South Africa, some of the stuff we see here is absolutely horrible, terrible things that people do to each other and subsequently we are actually then taught to dissociate from our emotions when working on a case, so as to remain entirely objective and level - headed. So you don't necessarily *need* to be emotional, but you can be, just don't let it get to you otherwise the job is not for you.
      P. S. You are completely correct that it can cause severe depression later on, but that also depends on the individual and how they deal with such things. :)

There are people that immigrate illegally from countries all over the world, not just Mexico. Second, none is the things you mentioned have anything to do with this video, which is about people dying while crossing the border, so how can you say "none of this would happen if"
Also, undocumented immigrants pay more than 13 billion in US taxes every year. Not being a citizen has nothing to do with paying taxes.

Is there something wrong with working, going to school and working, having a job with benefits? Don't tell me it can't be done because I'll give you names of jobs where there are benefits - working in a shop rite or supermarket, for one. Working almost full time nights, going to college full time days and financial aid, college aid, not loans to pay back, is what I did. The UKs' socialist medical is so antiquated it helps no one. People who can't work want socialism. I prefer capitalism. This is America. You CAN make money. I was taught that all my life - to pull up your bootstraps. Clean toilet bowls if you have to but work - is what I was told. At 15 I was washing dishes in a big restaurant but eating. At 15 you can do those things. And you learn. That's life.

This truly a gripping story, one that I was made aware of a few years ago when RadioLab produced a three part series on this issue. I believe they interviewed people involved with policymaking that resulted in this out of sight, out of mind approach and with Jason De Leaon, author of The Land of Open Graves. So if this story resonated with you please check out the radiolab mini series and better yet, read De Leon's book because he does a brilliant job of outlining the policies that have created this level of inhumanity.

Sadly governments are formed with laws that were meant to herd us like gullible sheeps. We don't deserve to live like prisoners of these nasty oligarchs. They programmed us to this. And even our offsprings will bear the same kind of treatment. Slaves to our shepherds.

That’s awesome the sheriff supports the work they do. So many time, people like him take it personally that someone else is doing better than they are. He just wants the truth and she’s able to help.
Good for both of them, and the migrant community.
