Best recommendation ever bud! Absolutely love it and even had a few matches with my dad over the weekend and he immediately said it reminds him of sensi.
I was looking for a review of Pocket Soccer because it was on sale. Thanks for pointing me to something better. Always loved sensible soccer games (and Kickoff)
I have had this since its early access beta, when it was a totally different game! they rebuilt it. But anyway, the version as it stands now is "OK". The main issue I have with it s the awkward controls. In Sensi you could run in a direction, hold fire to start the shot, apply aftertouch by bending the joystick, and let go of fire to put the ball in motion. But in this game, when you let go of the fire button after applying aftertouch your player runs to the new direction your joystick is now in. It trips me up almost every single time I make a shot because I want them all to curve. I don't know how they could have missed this.
I think this plays better than Sensible Soccer. It’s slower pace allows for some deeper level of control, SS is just too frantic at times. It would be good if they had a career mode with the ability to buy and sell players. Also on the subject of SS/SWOS being the best footballer game ever, I’d have to give that to PS2-era PES.
This lookin like the best team-based shmup that has a passable bullet and human-sprite ships on the Switch. Thanks for digging out worthwhile titles that are way below the radar. Especially with repellant cover artwork like that.
Hahaha! At least dodging and shooting are the main skills you'll need for this one too. To be honest, I don't plan on reviewing many non-shmups, but I found this by surprise and I can't believe how good it is!
Played this yesterday on the ps4, was not expecting much but the game is actually fun to play... Normally I delete these types of games after 10 minutes of play but this one I want more, hope they bring out some dlc teams.
Completely agree. Maybe even an ability to make a few custom teams from scratch. I know nothing about programming etc, but I doubt it would be much effort, to be honest.
doesn't look bad. i wonder if it has a team editor? (probably not given that story mode thing there) and how would you say ball control is compared to Sensi? does the ball still insist on running away from you when you change directions?
Thinking of getting but just for solo play. Is there enough of it and reason to come back, SWOS used to allow plenty of replay as seasons could carry on.
I just bought Super Arcade Football and Super Arcade Racing within the past hour. They were on special until the end of the day and I had just enough funds for them both, so why not!
Great review. I miss sensi so much, especially the manager side that was fun and not intricate and difficult. You could buy from around the world but not have to worry about training, happiness, stadiums etc. I bought the game, and enjoyed it for £10. Like you said though, it isn't sensi.
Yeah, I loved the managerial part too! Unfortunately, I don't think anything will ever come close to proper Sensi. I really wish they'd just re-release SWoS for modern systems. Don't need to update it with modern teams or players or anything, just dump it as is. It would surely be worth their while given how much love there is for the game.
Looks like hybrid of swos mixed with its precursor microprose soccer...my all time favourites...... shame swos not 4 to switch. Suppose amiga emulation is still the best way to play.
Just discovered this channel, and already it's one of my favourites. I'm glad to hear this game is so good, especially since it's been sitting unplayed on my Switch for weeks. I bought it because it looked like it might resemble Sensi, and I'm glad to hear it's the closest thing. I can stop buying every discount football game I see how.
Some people maybe prefer it, I guess. For me, that's not really a football game. I mean, I get it involves playing football - and Super Arcade Soccer is hardly exactly a sim - but the way Soccer Brawl plays is too different from the real sport, in my opinion.
Don't get me wrong. But if you have seen this game when it was released may be you'll change your opinion : ruclips.net/video/GOOvIQ4_Fx4/видео.html . This could be a way to really pay tribute SWOS or Kick Off with improved graphics. There was something familiar with old school games - a mix of SWOS and Kick Off but much better, great interface(not this sort of ), editing options and customization(unfinished). Unfortunately what remains from that work is only in youtube. The game never went to another level(released on steam for windows).

Will definitely give this game a go, and your opinion of swos being the best footy game ever just shows that you know your stuff👌🏼
Thank you for this review! I saw this game popping up on GoG and I'm not a football fan but I like simple arcade games. So I might buy it there :)

Hello from the algo
⚽⚽⚽footy footy footy
Kick Off 2 was easily better than Sensible Soccer.
many times better
The deleted this version off steam and uploaded a blocky 8 bit retro game, do not buy this game.
cheesy version of swos
nice game but for the lack of ability to have female players.
