I love the Comica VM30. I am amazed by its sound quality. Regarding the idea of putting a recorder inside the mic itself, I would wonder if such a thing might interfere with the performance of a shotgun mic.
I think most music and audio people would probably agree that you reeeally don't need 32 bit depth. That extra detail in the low amplitude sounds is really only useful for highly processed uses. I don't think there's a perceivable difference between 16 bit 24 bit or 32 bit when listening without any processing. Like if you wanna record better audio, there are so many things that have a higher impact than 16 or 24 vs 32 bit depth.
I agree. When mentioning 32 bit float I was mainly talking about the aspect that you don't have to worry about setting recording levels or clipping etc. Quality wise 24bit is more than enough.

off topic but i need help regarding one of your previous videos im thinking of buying a canon r50 but i need your opinion on this. I got a canon 700D with crop mood installed, having a blast using it and learning about color grading with davinci resolve, now my problem is the lack of autofocus when using crop mood, yeah its a great cheap camera if you have it on a tripod and focus the scene you want and leave it like that but for handheld street filming i really wanted the autofocus and some sort of stabilization , also how is the color grading on the r50 compared to the 14bit raw from crop mood? can you push the colors a fair bit without getting the quality ruined? in your opinion is it worth the upgrade? currently costs 780€ with the Rfs 18-45 is Stm kit lens. thank you for all the work you put on your content to help us
I would imagine you can't push the colors the way you can with those 14 bit raw files but If you need AF you need AF. The R50 has HDR PQ which is 10bit which is enough for a decent bit of grading. Ideally you would want C-log but then you are getting into a higher price bracket.
@@FulaanCreative thanks for the reply, im going to find some friend that has a r50 and let me try it out, see what i can do on davinci and see if its worth the upgrade 👍
Hi there, thank you for the review! I was wondering if the 24bit sampling of the microphone is referred to its maximum capability or it actually has some internal pre-amps that give you 24bits no matter what. I'm asking because I would pair it with a Lumix S1H which has only 16bit audio recording internally, so if this gives you 24bit with preamps it would be a total game changer. Cheers!
How do these compare to microphones like zoom h2n, h4n or tascams, if you have any experience? Looking to make sound therapy videos with a good cam & mic. Thanks
So those you mentioned are recorders not mics. You need a mic to pair with those. Sound is a complicated subject because each scenario is different and will require different tools. Regardless of what you go with the main rule is the closer you can get the mic to the sound source the better. 1 foot would be ideal for most mics

Some people recommend pencil condenser mics indoors over shotguns. They may in fact get less room reverb etc but they are quite expensive and also are mostly xlr so it'l require a whole setup which is too much trouble for me. If you learn how to sweep frequencies in your EQ you can reduce room reverb alot. If it's still too much you can hang some blankets to dampen the sound.
