I have a shoot in New York in less than 3 weeks. Needed to quickly grab a budget monitor. Grabbed the Osee T5 due to your review. Thanks so much for the breakdown.
Since I knew nothing about field monitors, I had to watch this video about six times or more to get familiar with all of the features and then decide which ones were the most important. So I ended up buying the Desview R6 specifically for that bright screen. Thank you for this in-depth review, Caleb, it was exactly what I needed to make a purchase decision. Cheers!
Great video, and based on your reviews I purchased the Andycine C7, however I think I should mention what my experience with this monitor was like. It worked fine initially but completely failed after 6 months with only very light usage. I contacted Andycine support and was told that they would NOT be able to replace my unit because the warranty had expired. I asked how that was possible since I had only had the monitor for 6 months - they replied that their warranties are 1 year from the date of manufacture, not from the date of purchase. So in my case, my unit was made over a year ago before I bought it, which means that it was sold to me without it having any warranty at all (I have never heard of a warranty practice like this for any products that are sold in the U.S.). So just thought I would mention this in case any of your viewers are considering this monitor. Since then, I’ve bought a Desview monitor which I really like and think is better than the Andycine C7 *and* is warranted from the date of sale.
Look into consumer protection law in your country. I smell BS coming from Andycine. The law is applicable (in Australia at least), regardless of where the product was manufactured. I'd mention that in an email to Andycine if I were you - I wouldn't be surprised if they back-flipped on that appauling customer service call. 🙂
@@johnzambrano2501 That lack of warranty from date of purchase seems very strange. I see you last posted 3 months ago. Did you have any satisfaction since? I'm researching monitors, and would like to know, as may other potential buyers.
@@WayWalker3 I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (not that I expect them to do anything about this, but I least I made them of aware of the warranty problems I experienced with Andycine). I've tried the other ones (Desview) that attach to the lens, which seem to really strain (and potentially damage) the lens. The ILOKNZI i2 option doesn't clip to lens. It uses proper black fabric around lens. It's so good and inexpensive. (I’m not a bot. I’m a regular amateur filmmaker, and it’s a great find).
Great video! Thanks for this….I always thought a Shinobi would be the way to go for me, but seeing this break down of all the other monitors that are cheaper and have more capabilities I feel like I have to go a different direction. So thank you!
I went with the Neewer F100 7" monitor and the Lilliput A5 5" monitor for my cameras, both are nice little monitors, I don't need a lot of the extra features

So helpful!! You didn't talk at all about what you might be sacrificing in these monitors compared to more 'Pro' ones from brands like SmallHD which cost a whole lot more. Would love to hear your thoughts. With monitor tech becoming more and more inexpensive, is it really necessary to get more pricey pro brands?
Me and a couple of friends have been waiting for this video since you announced it. Looking to buy our first on-camera monitor in 2022. Thank you for this review!
For anyone buying the Osee T5, you'll need to buy a 3.5x1.35mm adapter for DC out - I bought a six pack on amazon for about $7. The T5 is a really cool little monitor, about the size of an iPhone 12 or most modern phones. I'm used to using pages on a small HD director monitor and the T5 once set up, is a joy to use.
My T7 died several times and after 6 months of emails Im finally getting a refund. It was determined that the electronics need to be redesigned. Id steer clear especially if your getting paid. It has been a pita sending them back through Chinese customs.
Got the Osee t5 for my work desk camera for talking head and top down shots. Thanks for the advice it’s just what I needed. I made an art painting desk and leather workbench using your videos on RUclips desk setups. Few more things to get to make it perfect. Thanks for the inspiration.
THANKS! I've been waiting for something like this. I wanted to get an inexpensive monitor for our Atem Mini to see what the other camera is seeing. Makes life easier when there is only 2 of us doing all the video at church.
I recommend the Godox GM55. I bought it for 160€. It's from a proper brand, has much nicer UI than those "noname" chinese models. It comes with a nicer mount imo. and has all the basic features that you might need. Even a headphone jack and DC in/out. It's my recommendation if you want something cheap that just works. Ok it's not the brightest one, focus peaking might be tricky outdoors, but otherwise it worked totally fine for me even in bright summer daylight.
I just purchased the OSEE T7 and absolutely love it. SUPER bright since I film outdoors a lot and the menu system is simply the best I’ve ever used. Love the false color too. I use that all the time now.
@@ekphotography - oh really? No issues for me at all. I’ve probably used it about 30 times so far. Absolutely love it. I’m a travel videographer so i really wasn’t sure about getting the 5” or the 7” because of added size and weight. I am thrilled I chose the 7”. It really helps in composition.
the Feelworld LUT7 is certainly great value but at my old dayjob we used it every day and the poor quality quickly became an issue. one of the battery mounts quickly stopped working. also, DO NOT RELY ON IT TO CHECK FOR WB. the colour accuracy is awful, it's really only decent for checking framing, focus and exposure (which is certainly enough for a lot of people). it also gets really hot if you actually crank the brightness up, so on hotter days maybe switch it off between takes. over all decent value but nothing i'd buy again for every day use, it's got too many quirks and just feels kinda flimsy once you've used a ninja or a shinobi :D
Thanks Caleb for this in-depth and comprehensive comparison! I've had a Feelworld F5 PRO V2 for quite some time and I really enjoy using it, except for its lack of brightness (only 500 nits) and it being too small in many situations. Therefore I just got a Feelworld LUT7 PRO (ie. a LUT7 with the backplate like the F5 PRO). It is very bright and has the right size, but I've encountered two problems due to which I consider returning it: Zooming into a 4k input signal (C4K or UHD) lacks sharpness and shows artefacts. It seems, that the input video is downsized to 1920x1080 and then zoomed into. The difference in sharpness is very obvious compared to my F5 PRO. Focus assist is very irritating to me: Where my F5 PRO shows fine coloured lines directly on the edge (1 to 2 pixel wide), the LUT7 PRO shows a broad coloured line to the right of the edge (4 to 5 pixel wide and offset by at least 1 pixel from the edge). If there are multiple edges in the image, the focus assist distracts significantly from the "real" image. Did anybody encounter these problems as well? Is it just my LUT7 PRO? Or is it just me being picky?
he mentions a Feelword LUT7 AND a Feelworld F7 Pro. you mention a Feelworld LUT7 Pro. So: which one did you use then? if you wanna help with your comment, you should better be acurate. anything else does not help.

Love all the cheap options on the market now but my experience with these cheaper monitors has been mixed. Some of these panels struggle to display 60p or higher frame rates. And some of them just stop working randomly. Lilliput has been a big offender for both of these complaints, so I am glad to see they did not make the list here. But feelworld has made it's way on to my s**t list for reliability problems as well.
Careful with the Timbrecod DC80. I bought mine on amazon and right out of the box the touch features didn't work, and the unit stopped working after only a few uses. It started making this really high pitched coil whine sound, and the screen started freezing every time I hooked it up to my camera. I've been trying to fix it so that it doesn't become E-Waste, but at this point I think I'm just gonna take that loss on the chin and save up for another one...
ngl I was hoping for a quick and dirty input lag test. Most of us know the fact that ok it's mostly down to the camera's hdmi output, but knowing if one would double it or not it's something that would be really helpful.
I don’t recommend the first 7” Feelworld to anyone. I’m here because mine died. Just did a bunch of tests with different cables and connecting to other monitors. It’s just the panel itself that that’s flipping out (same 7” model). It lasted a few years with about four hours on it a month. Once the monitor warms up it just starts losing signal and switching off and on between the feed and blue screen.
Honestly they are all a little different but each of them allows you to dial in color to match. Since they all could be adjusted, I didn't cover that to save time.
Brilliant video, the Osee T5 is still hard to get after your last video, so, great to see some good alternatives (especially with the lut option!) Totally digged the transition effect morphing between the 2
Amazing video. Much work went into this. However for sony useres i would also try the monitor+ app Its 20 dollars. And your phone is the monitor. Wirelessly! It doesnt lack any features and even alawys control of camera settings including focus!
I have the FW759, which is pretty cool for the price. Note that, for a few extra bucks, you can also get optional back plates for different batteries (there is one compatible with my 5D Mk III batteries).
I wasn't thinking of buying anything until he said the magic words "...used... at a steep discount". Music to my ears! LOL. I actually own the Feelworld 7. Was my first monitor many years ago. It is a great choice to handle basic.
Bought a timbrecod from Amazon. Absolutely fine as a monitor, until it just stopped working after a few weeks of use. OEM said they don't honor Amazon purchases for warranty* So... FYI.
What a coincidence, just received my Desview r6 from the postman, got it brand new on black friday for €160, which for EU is basically half the price (e.g UK amazon sells the R6 for about €330). Awesome monitor, done my homework before buying and works like a dream. Got it paired on a RoninS with a GH5 and with that combo, often monitors have issues - everything working fine with my setup. Great video Caleb, as always!
I have the timbercod DC 56 and mine isn't touch screen, nor does the menu system look like that. When you said touchscreen, I paused the video and went grabbed my monitor. 🤣🤣. I probably have the older version of it. Because my monitor doesn't offer lut input and the battery dnt lasts long. Yet I love the fact that I can grab a monitor and go. I'm going to try to usb plug into a battery bank, because when I hook it up to my v-mount battery it won't charge only with the ac adapter.
Hi Caleb. Great video. I’ve been watching you for years. Thanks for all the help. A question, with any external monitor, will it display 120p as I am filming? I don’t mean recording 120p. I understand that is a different question. I note that some specs show frame rates for these monitors, but if they’re not recording, why does that matter? I am shooting on the Fuji XH2s and XT5, and on the XH, I’d like to use the monitor when shooting in 120p. I hope that makes sense. Thank you in advance.
@caleb, do all (any) of the monitors with LUT functionality apply them to the output.. lookin for A7s3(slog3)->monitor->LUT->Camlink4k.. Goal is to stream a feed with lut applied..

Awesome video 🎉
Any notes on color? Obv not gonna have perfect color at this price, but do any of them have significant color shifts?
was thinking the same thing esp. compared to more pro monitors like SmallHD
Honestly they are all a little different but each of them allows you to dial in color to match. Since they all could be adjusted, I didn't cover that to save time.
That Soviet Industar rangefinder lens on the desk is cool.:)
Thanks for the great video, can you do a review for the ZenScreen Touch MB16AMT as an external monitor for studio use?
Thank you for creating this video brotha! Definitely a huge help! I’m going for feelworld f5pro thanks to you! 😊🎉
Brilliant video, the Osee T5 is still hard to get after your last video, so, great to see some good alternatives (especially with the lut option!)
Totally digged the transition effect morphing between the 2
Thanks James! Love me a good morph cut!
Amazing video. Much work went into this.
However for sony useres i would also try the monitor+ app
Its 20 dollars. And your phone is the monitor. Wirelessly! It doesnt lack any features and even alawys control of camera settings including focus!
I have the FW759, which is pretty cool for the price. Note that, for a few extra bucks, you can also get optional back plates for different batteries (there is one compatible with my 5D Mk III batteries).
where did you find the optional back plates? i tried to buy on Amazon but didn't see where to buy the other plates?
i got the first two...the 5 inch I got based off of your video...and I just got the deity pro mic too...i like your reviews.
I had a feeling today was going to be a good day!
Thanks!
A field monitor might be a great option. Looking for a 12 volt monitor for a raspberry pi which works good in the sun
Thanks for including cheapest!
I wasn't thinking of buying anything until he said the magic words "...used... at a steep discount". Music to my ears!
LOL.
I actually own the Feelworld 7. Was my first monitor many years ago. It is a great choice to handle basic.
What’s the cheapest one for recording 4k 60 10 bit
I rock an r6 as well, no complains! It is crazy that its available in china for 150 bucks all the year (not including any discount)
Awsome review and recommendations. This is definitely very helpful. Thank you for your work. :)
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for the great video ! I'm wondering which one has the best color accuracy performance ?
Any suggestions on reliable wireless systems for making these monitors wireless? Did I catch a glimpse of one at 13:29 ?
Same question please
@caleb, do all (any) of the monitors with LUT functionality apply them to the output.. lookin for A7s3(slog3)->monitor->LUT->Camlink4k.. Goal is to stream a feed with lut applied..
Wondering the same thing. Want to record in camera and also have the option to stream it live with proper lut applied.
Great review
Would love to see a video comparing sdi monitors!
