Just purchased. Solid aluminum body, surprised given the price. The cold shoe mount is good too. Great first external monitor. Pinch zoom can be enabled under Settings>Gesture Zoom (page 2)
I wish I had seen your video sooner. I just returned a monitor I bought. Lousy controls, silly menu progression, and it would randomly turn off, then I had to “reboot” the battery on the charger. Like what?! I’m going to give this one a try based on your excellent review.
Nice video, but one stupid question but did you figure out how to power it with usb A? All cables I have just don’t fit into the plastic frame around the port 🤔
Hi Mark, I hope your health is getting better. Crystal clear explanation on this monitor. Btw, how do you compare this one with the Feelworld F5 Pro X ?
Mark, can you please tell us about how long it takes for it to boot? Unfortunately there was a cut there in the video but I’m sure that’s an important factor for most of us.
I bought the Portkeys Pt5 and for some reason I keep getting a weird noise only when the monitor is connected to my zv-r10 camera. I have no idea why :/ I power it via usb but it doesn't seem to be the reason since if i remove the hdmi connection and just leave the camera powered, there is no background noise. The moment i reconnect the camera via hdmi i get the noise again. It's like a low humming sound, but very noticeable. I am using an external XLR mic connected to a console and set the zv-e10 gain level to 1. Everything works fine till i connect the portkeys monitor, when I get this noise again. anyone facing sth like this ?
Hello! I have a Canon M50 and I want to know if I buy one external recorder monitor, I can record on the internal card and also on the external recorder monitor? To have backup, because M50 have just one card slot... 🤔
I got the PT5II and its nice BUT the HDMI whires SUCK! Why there is no 90 (down) angled soft whires???? Is there any shop in the Internet to sell high quality angled HDMI cables?
Hi Mark, not especially on the Portkeys, but on external rig monitors in general: When I have an external rig monitor connected (via HDMI/Feelworld F6 plus X), then everything on the external monitor is reproduced exactly as it was on the Canon R10 display, except for the 'spirit level', which doesn't make it onto the display. Is this the case with other cameras, too i.e. normal?
In bright sun, you need the sun shade. All the on camera monitors, that I have tested, that you can see in full sun, have fans on them that make the on camera mics, or mics near the camera, unusable. So thats the trade-off.

@@tonysluna oh, this may be able to be done, I know there are some for Sony and Black Magic, not sure about Canon, but have never looked into it. It seems logical that you should be able to find a monitor to do this.

Smallrig cage. If the cage does not have that feature, you can just buy the small rig cold shoe part, and put it anywhere there is a threaded hole on the cage.
Great video Mark. But wait, from any external monitor I will lost all the info and data provided by the camera such as the aperture, shutter speed, the zebra, the exposure comp. Am I Right or wrong ? In the other words, i still have to look back to the original monitor to check it out, back and forth 😅

can you zoom in using the monitor to get critical focus? its a make and break for me as i use fully manual lenses. focus peaking can be unreliable at times.
I just bought a PT5 for my M50. I have a problem. When I connect the PT5, my M50 monitor turns off and I lose its touch screen functions for auto focus and for browsing and watching recorded videos. How to set both screens to work simultaneously?
Hey Mark : ) I wanted to ask you if you know of a better alternative to Canons Image transfer utility software? I am not getting consistent results with the handshake between the computer and camera for whatever reason - it's like it doesn't initiate image transfer at times like it already did or something , without option to say I know you think you already grabbed the goods but you haven't lets let me make that choice it just doesn't do anything.
@@markwiemels Yes wireless I mean it works then it doesn't then it does IMO it has everything to do with the utility side the camera says it is uploading? I was hoping a 3rd party solution as is it is bare bones barely. I should look my brand new M6/viewfinder bundle was missing the USB cable maybe it wasn't supposed to be in there the camera side looks proprietary or different than the on on the M3, yesterday I couldn't find our USB card reader so I ended up switching the memory card from the M6 into the M3 then uploading it with the M3 USB cable LOL good times : )
I agree with the comment above. The gear will not be your limiting factor at this stage, there is some basic gear you should have, like a tripod, and on camera microphone if you are doing video.

Can I download a lut from davinci resolve to load in this monitor?

He calls it a Sony style battery. The monitor takes NP-F batteries. Common and low priced. Apparently it will also fit Canon LP-E6 batteries.
