Mike you have such a wonderful personality and you're a great teacher. It's so calming watching you. It reminds me of watching Bob Ross as a kid all the time even though I don't paint (or lay concrete). Thank you
I agree R, it's hard to put your finger on it but Mike does have that calm Bob Ross thing going on that is very easy to watch. And we also learn stuff we wouldn't otherwise know. Peace to ya Bud.
Great job as always Mike, and I think most people would agree that doing all that work AND setting up the camera in between so we can see the process makes it even harder. Much respect and peace to ya Mike.
Beautiful* finished work. Old school way sure works well.. Also, still looking great with your fabulous head of hair.. And of course, still working hard.. Thank You* for all your great videos.. Anyone can't go wrong if they follow your example, in doing what you* teach.. Awesome videos. Be safe & God* Bless* Mike*.💯👍👌✌️🎥🎬🙋🇺🇲💎💎💎💎🙏
beautiful stairs Mike I really enjoy your energy when you build it's old school and simple ( you make it look smple)..It's almost theraputic for me to watch your videos. Thank you. I'm a carpenter in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and I believe if your going to learn well you have to have peace inside of you while your working. you show that.
Mike you are a gem, these videos have helped me lay new sidewalk. They’ve also helped with retaining wall repair, brick repair and other things around the house
Love the video Mike, I always learn so much. Thanks for the time you put in to these videos to show us all the tricks of the trade. Keep them coming!! :)
Ones again, it is great to see the skill of a craftsman that has been around the block a few times, and Mike, you have literally been around the block a few times. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your knowledge, and for another great video.
Mike confirms here what it has taken me years to realize. as a DIYer. You can’t expect to have a cook book list of instructions, especially when dealing with an old house. It takes a little creativity to be able to adapt to each situation. Thanks Mike, God Bless.
Mike, I'm so glad you didn't say this one was "no big deal" because it kinda was a big deal! The pattern really helps get it right! Your customer is surely pleased!
I Like your videos, you do a great job. I'm a stone mason and I enjoy watch your videos I learn more every day , thanks Mike. Nothing better like old school tips.
Thank you for your videos. They are very helpful. I am gearing up to repair the front steps on my 100 year-old house. They are stone with bricks risers, and were built by my grandfather so I want to save/ restore as much as possible. I've been trying for 2 years to find someone in the area to do the work or help me, but no luck so far. So looks like I'll be learning haha wish me luck!
You are the best Mike, thank you for your patience explaining so well what we ignorants need to do in order to get the job well done, always enjoy your videos !
Amazing, this Canadian boy just bought an 80 lb bag of Portland cement and 2 bags of rapid dry mortar mix. I have type s cement, sand and just add water concrete, not rapid dry. So I am building up an arsenal.
Brother.... What is there to say.... Fine work from a fine man who freely shares a MASTER MASON'S KNOWLEDGE. Your steps look GREAT. Your advice to take you "CUSTOMER" with you to select the product to be used may fall on deaf ears if any tradesmen even care to listen, as most think they know it ALL.... GOD BLESS MIKE.....Ernie
Mike, My mother came from Dunmore. I'm your age. Her brother was my uncle Armand Cola. I've been following you for years and I always wondered if you knew my uncle Armand. He was a friendly guy and my mother told me he was well known.
i might have missed- even with template as yard stick - why not put it back with backing first and then face it... this is how we typically or rather always do it when ground up...forms or blocks and fill then face brick...just curious - the work is awesome as usual - great day to ya

Mike show us the difference between concrete block and cinder blocks? Why didn't you wet the stairs? What is the cost of a job like this? I would think over 1000 dollars?
Hi Pete, cinder blocks were made from coal cinders from the powerplants, they don't make them anymore, they didn't hold up well, I probably did wet the bottom but didn't film it, thanks Mike
Mike quick question I have a porch which is red brick with a buff color mortar my mortar is coming out, looks terrible how can you fix this sort of thing? Thx, SB

I’m confused at the beginning, did you “patch” it before, that failed and had to replace whole thing???
Hi Tim, I was planning on patching it the year before but it was too far gone in the spring, thanks Mike

Beautiful as usual!
Thanks Sofi, Mike

How come the colored mortar I like your father's garden mud trick. Was it because that is what you had or customer wanted 🤔.
Hi Steve, yep had to match the other brick joint color, thanks mike
