Russian IRP-P MRE Review Individual Daily Ration TASTE TEST 2019 24-Hour Military Meal Ready to Eat

  • I'm generally a fan of Russian Military Rations but taste testing this 2019 24-Hour IRP-P was a little disappointing. Unlike MREs Russian rations aren't built to last so not everything was exactly fresh. A large portion of the calories in this ration pack come from crackers and the crackers were definitely showing their age. They had an unpleasant stale crunch and a rancid oil taste. The mains were just fine, even quite good, but this menu wasn't as filling as expected, even though it contained a substantial 3500 calories. I'm sure it would get a soldier through the day just fine but I hope they are issued to troops when they are a bit more fresh.
    Thanks for watching!

Russian here, great review! The apple jam from the irp is actually called "povydlo", and it isn't considered jam in Russia! I used to get this dessert a lot in school, and I vividly remember hating it lol, but everybody I know loves it, so it's just me. But yeah, its a school lunch food, and apparently army food.

This as a whole looks like a budget civilian version or 3rd party copy.
You can dissolve the milk powder (or any powdered drink) in a small amount of hot water, then fill it up with cold. You can also mix the milk and coffee powders from the start for a white coffee.

In case someone's wondering, that's an IRP of Russian Ministey of Internal affairs, e.g. police basically, hence it has some differences with military IRPs (around 500 less calories less, different cans, ect). And yes, the military rations are better in terms of quality.

I have a lot of rations for long term food preps that are climate controlled at 70 degrees. I periodically have a ration that is years beyond the Best Buy Date and have not had any trouble with the components. Most are US rations. Great review. Damn shame about the coffee. Thank you for sharing. Blessings 👍🏼

US rations tend to hold up way better than these Russian ones. If kept at a constant reasonable temperature MREs will last for decades as I'm sure you well know. Thanks for watching!

Only bad thing about the Russian rations is the shelf life. The mains and stuff will be fine but the crackers go bad really fast.

First review of yours I have watched and really enjoyed it. Calories were given. Pros and cons given made the review balanced and all presented with positive energy. But please use that fuel in a well ventilated area and extinguish it when finished as it really is not good for you. Keep up the good work. Cheers Stu NZ

I actually am a milk drinker who averages 2 quarts a day, but I too have little use for powdered milks (or eggs). Powdered milk in my opinon is best reserved for those instant mashed potato recopies that say add a half cup of milk. Regarding the kind of crackers found in survival rations I have watched birds and even fish refuse them when they pass the 25+ year mark and that tells me much. If the gold fish won't touch them, why should I? If my memory is correct on her channel when doing a Russian ration Emily found a tin of caviar, that's as cool as a French ration I once had that came with a mini wine bottle inside. Your description of the unknown drink is like when I see a US green MREpack of 'beverage powder' type unknown. LoL I would have heated the beans.

I know this is a year late but I use a full fat milk powder by nestle (I think ) its called Nido. Its the only powdered milk my hubs will drink.
I use it in my baking and had just picked up 2 of the big big tins (on sale of course) that make like 8 gallons of milk per tin two weeks before lock down.
We really did end up using it off and on.
Use warm/hot but not boiling water to mix then store in fridge to get it super cold. My hubs said its very nice rich flavor. Sure its not fresh milk but for emergencies its wonderful. Even my 1 year old grandson loves it.

@@kenibnanak5554 lol. My oldest cat loves it the teenager cat hates it and the three kittens i was blessed with by a stray momma love it but so far I haven't found anything they won't try to eat/drink
My bed pillow was glowing in the dark cuz one dragged a green glow stick up there and bit it. Her little mouth was glowing and all over my pillow. Looked kinda cool but the vet tech, thats my moms neighbor, said its non toxic but watch out for barf(peroxide ingestion causes barf in dogs/cats and people. )
