@@AmandaTheJediTbh Bella is only interesting because she's such a good blank slate you can imagine everything into her Which makes it so much fun to ship her with an actually compelling character
honestly she could have been part of the coven in breaking dawn and been another reason for the volturi to attempt to attack when the vampire child drama was cleared up.

This book for me was the height of Stephanie Meyer being deep without realizing it. The writing isn’t amazing but it’s a decent portrayal of how victims of abuse can become swept up in criminal activities they don’t want to be doing and the relationships that form from shared trauma. I’m interested by how many people are frustrated that Bree wouldn’t just bail on Diego and save herself and if they’d feel similarly if it was him abandoning her rather than holding onto hope.
yes! i haven’t read the novella but from what i’ve heard about it, this is what makes it seem really interesting & so heart breaking that Bree eventually dies at the end.

This notification made my day. Bree and Fred are actually my favorite characters in the twilight saga. Twelve year old me was absolutely devastated when Bree was killed and for the past decade I’ve compensated by reading fanfics where Bree gets to live.
So I find it rather fascinating that the Twilight craze seemed to die off shortly after Eclipse came in theaters and this novella came out, despite there still were two movies in line.
I was not expecting to hear that there was a "Hulk SMASH!" from a newborn vampire. Honestly, I was expecting a silly conversation between two of them along the lines of "you think Mighty Mouse can beat up Superman?" from Stand By Me. I have no idea if the conversation would be better.
One thing about having the powers is that it’s often attributed to something that they already had as a human. Like Bella was already a shield as a human. Alice could already tell the future. So was Fred already repulsive as a human? What does that mean?
Omg the first experience I ever had with an audiobook was this story. Got it from my local public library back in like, middle school YEARS after I’d read the originals. Simpler times
I am like a certified Twilight GIRLIE, but Bree Tanner is the *only* twilight book that I haven't reread. It's not even that I didn't like it, I actually really enjoyed the story--the ending is just so grueling and depressing that I was never able to get myself to go through that again lmao. That being said, it's been years, so this recap was needed.
The book ACTUALLY started as background material for the actress that played Bree(Jodelle Ferdiland). She can even be seen on set with the material showing it off. Oh my God, I'm so excited you're finally covering this book! For some reason I was obsessed with it back in my Twilight phase, Bree & Diego's story was always so tragic and special to me. I really wished Bree survived, it would've been interesting to see her join the Cullen clan.
I read this back in middle school during my Twilight era so I’d forgotten the general plot but I did remember absolutely BAWLING as a young teen while reading it
I actually enjoyed this book and the character. She was thrown into a world that was scarier to her than she was prepared for, and then, when it all came to a head, she became the sacrificial lamb to the vampire rulers. Why? Because they don't care.
It makes sense if the volturi know that Carlisle is well connected and has friends who have lie detection powers. Her testimony about them plotting with Victoria against the cullens would be incredibly damaging
The section where you talk about how sweet Bella's blood is to vampires was interrupted by a midroll ad for Liquor City, here in Syracuse. You're welcome. 😂 The irony just slaps.
The almost-guarantee that Amanda has read my Bella/Alice fanfic brings me immense joy (and a little fear?) especially considering how her comments about shipping them regularly inspires me to dabble with the pairing more. Thanks, Amanda!
The Twilight craze never seemed to really go away. I lived in a town (Not Forks) that to this day gets Twilight fans touring around visiting Bella's house and the lot where Bella is saved by Edward in Port Angeles. I'm fairly certain they're even having a Twilight festival coming up with a meet and greet for some actors from it. Fun fact, I watched the production team film the Port Angeles car scene. They kept having to hose down the set.
Im happy that cirque du freak or the vampires assistant got a shout out love that series, also i think its funny that one of the only vampires that survived this story on Victorias side was named fred and all i could think of was the utterly uninteresting and unadventourus tales of fred the vampire accountant. Yes that is a real book title and it is amazing.
Back when I read this book, I really liked it. I guess I was so fascinated and compelled by Bree Tanner because I adore the actress (Jodelle Ferland) who played her in the movie. My teenage emo self really identified with Bree, being an outsider, wanting to belong somewhere or with someone but never being able to fit in, feeling imprisioned and just wanting to break free. I also liked the friendship of Bree and Fred. They deserved so much better
I read this one a couple times and I actually kind of liked the idea of Bree (although when she chooses Diego over Fred I was also like WHY you've been friends for like one day while this guy has been watching your back for months!) I feel like Meyer does a really good job of introducing characters that have interesting back stories or potential and then drops the ball on them completely; like how in the main series literally almost every side character is more interesting than her leads. I would have loved to see a Bree spinoff and some more development of her, Fred and even Diego before their change and see her and Fred kicking it in Canada.
I actually enjoyed the book, my mom bought it for my 15th birthday by mistake I loved how the narration was simple and easy to read, I got to care for the characters and I’m still thinking about Diego and what happened to him… my heart still aches for his kind soul…, and Bree and the life that she got taken away from so young. I liked how they were immature and impulsive, since they were just kid who suddenly where able to have “superpowers” feed by the lies and illusions of Riley and Victoria

The only experience I have with this book was telling my ex in 2010 that I wouldn't be buying it because I had lost interest in the series, then them buying it for me months later cuz they remembered me 'mentioning' it. Not a terrible memory to have, but still something I think about...
Back when I read this I thought it was the best book in the series. I loved the tragic romance and the sad ending aspect of it, it felt a lot more real to a world of vampires than the mary-sue and gary-sue couple that is bella and edward. I don't remember a lot of the story now, but listening to this makes me want to read it again. I found it especially fascinating how, even knowing what would happen to bree, i found myself rooting for her and diego so much I really was heartbroken when he died. I even started writing a fanfiction once where she survived haha. Loved the video as usual, I hope that Stephanie writes more books for you to rant about because I love to listen to you absolutely taking apart those kind of stories.
Part of me sometimes wonders if Alice did see some vague Victoria plans, but just figured she would see how it played out so that Bella could be turned
I live in Washington and visited Forks a few times. You would love it! It's Twilight obsessed! There are Twilight tours, Twilight inspired merch and goods from bandaids to burgers everywhere. Plus La Push and the Hoh rain forest are gorgeous! Hope you get a chance to visit sometime!

I forgot where I read it, but in an Interview Stephanie Meyer said that Fred would appear or come back in the Resume story. So looks like we will see him again
Woooooooo!!! I recently went through a Twilight saga reread over ten years since reading it last time. The heartbreaking thing is that Bri’s story was actually really good. I wish we knew if Edward found Freaky Fred or not and just exploring the cult-like concept of new born covens. There’s room for it in the modern south right?
if you like vampire novels, you should read: “Carpe, Jugulum,”and “Thud!” both by Terry Pratchett, as well as “Serwa Boateng’s guide to vampire hunting” by Roseanne A. Brown they are not your traditional vampire novel, but add a unique take on the vampire myth
Hahaha I've been wanting you to do a big long video on the whole thing even though you already did all those videos because your POV is so great. This is fantastic.
So I went hard into the fanfic too, Bella and Alice, then Bella and Rosalie, then I fell down the rabbit hole and found Bella with the different Denali sisters.... I love when you rant about the better ships :)
having bree survive could be really interesting, especially with potential interactions/dynamics with bella - this newborn who's been through so much seeing this other newborn get turned and be supported and be able to control herself and knowing exactly what's going to happen to her. yay resentment!
Oh I learned about this story a couple months ago. I honestly enjoyed the aspect of them thinking they would burn like old school vampires. I do believe that Bree deserved better ❤️. Great video!!
I remember getting really excited for this book; that, when at the end of the year, my school gave me a book voucher for a local book store, and I used it to get this book.

Its Renesmee 😂 Bella and Edward's daughter and the "love interest" of Jacob. But her name is so stupid that people call her Renaissance, Resurrection, Resume etc 😂😂😂
The way I SCREAMED when I saw this notification!!! 😍😍✨ Yaaas, I don't remember crap about this book, but I know I read it and was so mad even when I knew where it was going 😭

I adored them back in the day so I just might - cause yeah, they got wild. I remember my middle school got the first 3 I think, but only let the 7th/8th graders read them - and let me be the metric of 'is this okay for kids' - like, yeah no shit the 12 year old reading the vampire book with finger blood transfer is gonna say it's fine
Yeah I read this right when it came out years ago look I’m not proud of it either but I very much did read all the twilight books as soon as they came out and pretended I didn’t care about them, cuz everyone else was clowning on them. It took me until now to realize that Victoria basically just played vampire-gacha trying to roll a new-born with extra abilities
I was gifted this book back in the day and I never read it either so thank you for doing the people's work bestie 😂
I enjoyed Bree’s story when I read it & of course I’m hyped for more Twilight content on this channel. I do feel a little betrayed that you hadn’t read it (you asked 😂)
I was a little bit of a Twi-Hard back in the day, but all of your videos on the series and adjacent media are what made me really want to revisit the franchise as an almost-30-year-old. My coworkers are tired of my shit. It's fantastic.
I felt that the Bree Tanner book was the best out of them all- the depiction of Bree was more like an average teenage girl rather than Bella.
I fell to my knees when I saw this video title / thumbnail you’re doing gods work
It’s been soooo long since I read this (when it came out), forgot what happened until you described it and I slowly remembered some stuff.
I forgot about FRED! 🤯 what a cool character he was!! Now I want to know where he ended up and if he’s ok!🥺
DAMN IT, Bree could’ve survived and they would’ve gone on wonderful adventures!!😢
I forgot where I read it, but in an Interview Stephanie Meyer said that Fred would appear or come back in the Resume story. So looks like we will see him again
Crazy how twilight even exists, I thought abraham Lincoln got rid of the vampire problem in America back during the Civil War
Brown
they are not your traditional vampire novel, but add a unique take on the vampire myth
Hahaha I've been wanting you to do a big long video on the whole thing even though you already did all those videos because your POV is so great. This is fantastic.
I really want Fred’s story. He was fascinating
YES! I LOVE FRED!! THANK YOU!!
I remember when that came out. I was so confused about why it was a thing. Never read it 😭
My exact thoughts!
As a resident of WA, I went to Forks on vacation between Twilight & New Moon. It was CRAZY. Twilight stores all over the town.
Oh I learned about this story a couple months ago. I honestly enjoyed the aspect of them thinking they would burn like old school vampires. I do believe that Bree deserved better ❤️. Great video!!
Amanda gave us a new Twilight video??? Never thought I’d see this. I’m so happy ❤
I remember getting really excited for this book; that, when at the end of the year, my school gave me a book voucher for a local book store, and I used it to get this book.
If it's ok to ask, what are Resurrection and Jacob? (Mentioned at 7:21.) I've tried Googling but I just get a bunch of stuff about Jacob the character and religious symbolism in the Twilight series 😩
Its Renesmee 😂 Bella and Edward's daughter and the "love interest" of Jacob. But her name is so stupid that people call her Renaissance, Resurrection, Resume etc 😂😂😂
I've never clicked on a video so fast
Same
The continuous mispronounciation of that horrifying baby doll's name is making my day so much better and I don't know why, but, hey, who cares? 😂
I loved Impact Winter as well! Didn't know that the second season is out by now, so thanks for pointing that out. Can't wait to listen to it. :)
Exciting! Twilight is how I found your channel, nice to see you return
The way I SCREAMED when I saw this notification!!! 😍😍✨ Yaaas, I don't remember crap about this book, but I know I read it and was so mad even when I knew where it was going 😭
Yayyy!! You finally read this❤🎉
I have watched all your videos about Twilight and regularly sleep to that playlist on repeat 😅
I love that Julien now has a twilight tattoo, twilight renaissance for sure
I took forever getting around to reading this book too
Was really glad when I did get to it though, because I absolutely loved it and wish we'd seen more of the characters in it
Super glad you covered it
Now you REALLY need to get into the Illustrates Guide and the histories of every other character in Twilight.🎉
honestly, the guide was my favorite twilight book 😭😭
@@chance757 There are so many origin stories we could really make 2 hr films out of.
Siobhan, Alistair, Victoria--
Makenna (Luka and their family and their ints w/the Volturi) and her relationship with Charles--
Demetri's time with Amun--
the Denalis as Sasha "collected" them and then her creation of Vasilii--
Chelsea/Charmion's origins and what the deal is with Afton--
Maria's first coven who all died--
The Romanians when they were in power--
even just Cauis against that one werewolf he never forgave.
@@whimsyfan i’d like to know more about the volturi and their establishment as well. jane and alec with their “witch twins” past would be interesting too. oh yeah, and stephanie’s hint at there being true werewolves but us never seeing them has always bothered me lol. that and the fact that she never actually confirmed who embry’s father was, small irrelevant things like that stick with me haha
I have the exact same shelf set up in a corner, even have a decorative fan sitting on it too! I always forget and it fucks me up every time I tune in 😂
Have you done a video on Moral instruments the movie and show?
You should check out the vampire books by Christopher Moore - I read them about a decade ago, so I'm not sure how they hold up in ay way, but they were a rollicking good time. Newborn vampires actually being interesting lol
Omfg you just brought up a memory I forgot about! Yes I read a few(?) from my local library. Need to get more lol.
Twilight is how I found your channel and like 2 others I know fallow / have fallowed as well
I genuinely liked this book the most of all the twighlight books XD (I read them all except I think there's a version from Edwards perspective? if that exists that's the one I didn't read XD
Midnight Sun (edwards POV) is actually probably my favorite or tied with OG Twilight - definitely recommend, or at least recommend my video on it
I saw your video I think it's just that your coverage of twighlight and Dominic nobles' of shades of grey blend together in my brain XD I think I preferred this story because what I liked best about the twilight books was always the vampire lore XD
You should do a review of the Darren Shan vampire assistant series. Ngl I remember those books being kinda wild 😆
Yes!! I tried reading them in middle school but couldn’t get into the series because of how wild the plot got 😂😂
I loved the first one but never finished the saga!!!!
1)Technically this video is the 3rd life of Bree Tanner.
2)I love your angry glares. 😆
Yeah I read this right when it came out years ago look I’m not proud of it either but I very much did read all the twilight books as soon as they came out and pretended I didn’t care about them, cuz everyone else was clowning on them. So I kind of appreciate that people are getting back into them. They did have a lot of cringe aspects but I still enjoyed them for what they were.
Your Twilight review series is the best on RUclips and I have seen so many others!
Thank you SO SO SO much for your donation to the tribes local to the area!!
I never get tired of my favorite creators talking about twilight ❤ i rewatch these videos and the movies every rainy season, and its honestly my favorite time of the year
Amanda thank you I love your twilight content a very normal and totally healthy amount
I love revisiting Twilight with you Amanda. Thanks for reading this so I never ever ever have to!
Princess Weekes' video is fantastic. Definitely watch it.
can you make a video about the differences between the books and movies? i love your videos!
Hey Amanda, loved the video. I was just wondering if The Mothership podcast will release more episodes. Have a nice day (and thanks anyways😄)
I'm glad you finally read it. A sad tale indeed. I want a novella about Fred.
Plot twist: Renesme falls for Fred and Jacob takes yet another L to a vampire LOL
but have you heard about the twilight parody musical from the UK??? It's called Dusk: A bite size love story
